@Pumuckl: Yeah I think either Smurfette or Irunforfun discovered it! I was like whaaat?!

Sleep is more or less the same... Not STTN, but usually anywhere between 1-3 quick wake up's to eat. I'll take it... My first would sometimes be up MOTN and not go back to sleep and that was the worst!

    @Pumuckl: Apprently McDonalds fries do!!

I won't even attempt to recount how many times DD was up last night. Suffice to say, her longest stretch was about 2 hours, she was in bed with me most of the night, and I mayyyybe got 4 hours broken sleep. Ugh. I feel like I'm failing at this.

  3. IRunForFun

    pomelo / 5509 posts

@snowjewelz: Haha that's what DD did last night. At one point she was up for almost 2 hours!!! I was so miserable.

  4. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@IRunForFun: I feel you. My first was like that. At least then I had DH to split it with me... If this baby starts doing that, I'm on my own! You are not failing! DD1 was not a good sleeper and I didn't do any sleep training but she learned how to fall asleep eventually and STTN around 6-7 months! And I mean, even then, they get sick, etc but it gets better!

  5. IRunForFun

    pomelo / 5509 posts

@snowjewelz: Right now I'd just be happy if she went back to a 4 or 5 hour stretch!!

  6. Smurfette

@Pumuckl: @snowjewelz: according to websites, McDonald's does. I assume they wash in milk before frying. No wonder those suckers are so damn good.
@IRunForFun: Hang in there!! It will get better. Hopefully 12 weeks will be a turning point for her. You are not failing. Babies are just weird. Mine slept great Monday night and then last night was worse. But it is still better then it was 3 weeks ago. Is she still not napping great during the day?

  7. IRunForFun

    pomelo / 5509 posts

@Smurfette: Sort of, on the napping. She's napping for slightly longer periods but only in my arms or in bed with me. She's pretty sleepy today and I'm like well if you'd just sleep at night!

Also Wendy's fries don't have dairy!

  8. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@IRunForFun: Did she sleep more yesterday during the day? Could that be why she didn't sleep last night?

  9. IRunForFun

    pomelo / 5509 posts

@Smurfette: Maybe, although I don't think so. She took a 90 minute nap, a 1 hour nap, and a 30 minute nap. It doesn't seem too excessive.

  10. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@IRunForFun: no that doesn't. I read something over the weekend, that said no more then 3 hours of sleep during the day. Maybe she needs more sleep to sleep better at night. It is a mystery. Dang babies, why you so hard to figure out.

  11. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@IRunForFun: @Smurfette: I have no clue either. Apparently she was up from nap at 3:30 and never took another nap and I took her to bed at 7 She was fussy and woke up a couple times tho (before I went back to bed) but over night sleep was still normal...

  12. IRunForFun

    pomelo / 5509 posts

@Smurfette: @snowjewelz: Yeah, it's impossible to figure out! She did seem to sleep a longer stretch the days she napped like crap but if she's tired during the day I can't keep her awake really! I just try to make sure she doesn't nap after 5:30 or so.

  13. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@snowjewelz: Yesterday she woke up from a nap at 2:40 and then she fell asleep, finally, in the carrier at 6 (started at 530). I woke her up at 6:30. I wasn't sure if I just put her to bed at 7 (meaning no nap) she would sleep till 6 or so. I didn't want her waking up at 5. Luckily once I swaddled her and rocked her a little, she was asleep by 8. I really can't wait till we get more on a schedule.

@Smurfette: @IRunForFun: @snowjewelz: Good schedules are like gold, aren't they? I haven't worried too much since everything will change anyways once I'm back to work.

Speaking of back to work...tomorrow. I've been crying off and on all week. I actually really like my job but I'm so not ready to leave this tiny little baby who's still so dependent on me.

  15. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@babypugs: I know, it's so hard! The hardest part for me has been having so little time with them since we now have to split our attention between 2! I feel bad mostly for my toddler... Since I sleep with the baby I feel like she gets enough snuggles... But I always feel guilty not spending enough time with my 2 yr old!

So up to this week, I was nursing her right before I leave so I only pump twice at work and nurse her as soon as I get home. But lately she has been waking up to eat around 7am and then sleeping for another half hour and then not wanting to eat. Plus, toddler gets upset when I get home and rush to feed the baby. So now I'm gonna pump 3x at work and therefore not have to nurse baby till bed time and hopefully spend more time with my big girl.

    pomelo / 5509 posts

@babypugs: Awwww I'm sorry! I hope the transition goes well! Re: schedule I'm failing so hard. I almost wish she was going to daycare so someone else could get her on a schedule! Ha.

@snowjewelz: More time with your DD1 will be great for both of you!

DD didn't sleep great last night but slightly better. 3 hours 10 mins and then 2 hours in the crib before I brought her into bed where she slept a couple 2 hour stretches. She is sad and fussy this morning though. Wish she could tell me what's wrong!

So far not being on a schedule is working for us. Knock on wood. S just gets lugged around in the Tula and will nurse/ sleep in there whenever she needs to.... however I still can't put her down for naps or for bed until 10pm so I'm not getting much independant time .

    clementine / 770 posts

@babypugs: awe! Hopefully work distracts you enough that you feel okay. I also love working and even find staying home for a year a bit isolating at times. But I miss being home when I'm back at work.

  19. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@babypugs: Well even being back at work, I feel like we aren't on a schedule. All depends on when she napped how our night is going to go. Last night she last napped at 410 (woke up), but I decided to keep her up and put her down early for bed. Well she fell asleep in my arms walking around dealing with LO1, then I couldn't get her to eat. She ended up waking up, so it was 8 before she finally fell asleep. Fail!
Hugs! It will be ok. Just think about how much fun she will have at day care. I just got a picture of her doing her first art work (footprint) and her laying on the mat "talking" to another kid.
@snowjewelz: I feed the baby right when we get home too. Her last bottle is at 3:30/4:00 so it is only 5/530, but I want to get an extra feed in there. Last night she didn't want to nurse though. I hate pumping 3 times at work. I could probably just do 2 and get enough but I really have to keep my supply up with her dairy issues.
@IRunForFun: glad that it was a little better!

  20. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@Smurfette: omg I fed her around 7am and I JUST now am able to pump. This is how work killed my supply last time!! So for now I welcome all the over night wake ups to make up for the demand....

@snowjewelz: I know, I'm dreading how little I'll see them! I've really enjoyed having more relaxing time with my 3 year old instead of always being go-go-go-- she's such a treasure. I'm overthinking WAY too much but my brain is like, "you'll never, ever have this amount of time with them again until you retire in 8000 years, when they'll have their own families." Which is true but a ridiculous way to think since I'll always maximize the time I do have.

@Peasinapod: Thanks! My first few days back are indeed looking crazy so that should help! A year seems like the perfect amount of time. It's righ not getting that hands free baby time, but it's awesome that you're still able to make everything work so well for LO1!

@Smurfette: Haha! Okay, that (lack of) schedule sounds challenging! It does help looking back on how DD1 adjusted so quickly to daycare (minus the bottle) and how much she loves going now!

DD2 just fell asleep in my arms. I was going to put her in the crib since I have a million things to do, but instead I'm going to hold her close and snuggle her.

  23. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@babypugs: You snuggle that baby the rest of the day! That is what I did my last afternoon of leave. I didn't want to put her down.

  24. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@babypugs: Aww! I was in sooo much pain trust me haha! I still only got 10 oz!

  25. IRunForFun

    pomelo / 5509 posts

@snowjewelz: OMG! That's crazy! 10 oz sounds like a lot to me but then I don't know much about pumping for work. You can take some of my LO's overnight wakeups!

    @babypugs: Awww enjoy those snuggles!

Had to resort to the car nap this afternoon. Drove around almost an hour in the rain listening to a podcast. Ready for her to be done with this growth spurt/leap or whatever the heck is going on.

What's everyone eating for snacks? I'm starving constantly and getting bored with the same stuff over and over. I need (dairy free) ideas!

  26. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@IRunForFun: I guess it is a lot. But I was expecting more since I hadn't pumped for 5 hours haha!

  27. Peasinapod

    clementine / 770 posts

@IRunForFun: I eat brown sugar and maple syrup oatmeal with almonds and a banana as dessert after lunch... other snacks include mini packets of plain microwave popcorn ( just salt and oil ) and a lot of dark chocolate.

  28. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@IRunForFun: snacks are fruit, pretzels, salami, celery/carrots with hummus, sea salt popcorn. So I had these lactation cookies, oatmeal raisin, and I swear the last bag didn't say milk. I have eaten 3/4 of this bag:( I bought a mix this time and it says I can use coconut oil instead of milk. Her poops are way better but still some mucus. I'm so mad and feel quilty.

Poor girl was so tired tonight. She fell asleep in the 2 min car ride home from day care, wouldn't nurse when we got home, I put her in the carrier, she slept 30 mins, I took her out and she didn't wake for 15 more mins, and then was asleep 30mins later. I really hope she learns to sleep by herself soon. It is seriously heartbreaking.

@babypugs: Hope back to work hs gone okay.

I've been MIA. Sleep deprivation is REAL. She's really bad right now and I know I was trying to be all positive and enjoy this age, but man oh man it's caught up with me. Weather has gone to crap (it's snowing out now) and just blah....I'm being challenged that's for sure. We ditched the bucket seat yesterday. It literally expired Monday, she's been awful in the car, screaming every moment in bucket. My DD1 was done at 4m, DS at 2.5m, so we made it to 3 this time. You wouldn't even believe me how good she was when we dropped off DD1 at school this morning! Even if it's just that once, it was such a treat.

Took her to docs just to put her on scale yesterday, 12.1lbs! Still less than the other two at 2 months, but a 1lb gain this month!

@IRunForFun: I made these earlier this week, omg YUM!

    http://www.aspicyperspective.com/whole-foods-homemade-granola-bars/2/

I don't know the whole foods ones to compare (don't have them here!) and didn't have rice bran oil, so used more honey and some molasses (had it in cupboard, lol) and I loooove them.

  31. IRunForFun

    pomelo / 5509 posts

@Smurfette: So the cookies you were eating did have dairy? Oh no!! How were her poops?? I was at my parents yesterday and was about to eat a handful of sour cream and onion chips and happened to think to check the ingredients...milk! And they always have that brand and kind at their house and I know I've eaten them during the time I thought I was dairy free!

@sunnyday: Oh man I'm sorry about the sleep deprivation. I'm right there with you and it's sooo hard. The hardest part for sure for me. Great on her weight gain though!!

DD did a 4 hour 10 min stretch in the crib last night and then I was too lazy to put her back into it after nursing, but she did a 3 hour stretch in bed with me. Pretty good for her!

  32. IRunForFun

    pomelo / 5509 posts

@sunnyday: Ooo yum! If I'm ever not so lazy I'll have to make those. Lactation cookies too!

  33. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@sunnyday: Both my girls hated the infant bucket seat too! And since we've been out with #2 way more than when #1 was a baby, I've def had to endured cries/creams way more in the car this time

@IRunForFun: I just think it's awesome that you're at least trying the crib!

  34. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@babypugs: Hope your day is going good!
@sunnyday: Does she like the convertible seat? Good job Mom on the weight gain.
@IRunForFun: yes Her poops are way better but she was still having some mucus. Now I know why. I am so mad at myself for not rechecking the package. I know the first bag didn't say dairy. But at least the mix I bought, I can use coconut oil so they will be dairy free. Yeah I ate salt and vinegar chips not realizing they have dairy. It is crazy now that I am checking every label what has dairy. Glad that you had good stretches last night.

LO slept good the first part. Woke up at 2 and wanted nothing to do with nursing. Just her paci. She was up like 4 times for that stupid thing, till she was up at 6 for the day. I tried to get her to eat every time and she wouldn't. Even once she was up, she was just chill cuddling with DH while we had to wait to feed cause of her meds.

  35. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@Smurfette: It's not your fault! I still can't believe what you say has diary in it sometimes!

DD is being super weird about my right boob lately. She latches and then cries and unlatches and repeat. She doesn't do it with my left! So strange.

  37. babypugs

    persimmon / 1101 posts

@IRunForFun: Chocolate. No help, there's dairy in there I know!

@Smurfette: Sleep is so hard. Poor baby.

@sunnyday: I'm with you. It was going so well for a while, we're back to wake-ups every 20 to 40 minutes after her first two hour stretch (that I'm awake for, of course!).

@IRunForFun: My LO has a huge preference. It's so frustrating!

Work is going okay so far. I'm suuuper tired from last night but coffee is keeping me going! I had been keeping up with emails pretty well but it still took me 3.5 hours to go through everything this morning. LO took an ounce and a half and is now napping! So glad she took a little bottle.

  38. IRunForFun

    pomelo / 5509 posts

@babypugs: Oh booo sorry your sleep went backwards!! I was hoping for your sake it continued to go well. We have the same problem. She did 5 hour stretches 3 nights in a row then back to 2 hours for the first stretch! It's even more frustrating when you KNOW they can sleep longer.

  39. sunnyday

    kiwi / 573 posts

@babypugs: it was like 8:30 last night and knowing this would be her "stretch" time. I kept saying.....I should go to bed. I went by 9. Good thing. Good thing she's cute!!

  40. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@babypugs: Yay, progress! Mine still rarely drinks a full 4oz bottle. She wakes up a few times at night to eat, so I am sure she's getting enough one way or another. I'm actually happy so I can put more milk in the freezer hah!
