    @TheSwissWifeStyle: welcome! So happy for you!

    @sweetooth: congratulations! I come from a big family of boys (a brother and five boy cousins, and the oldest cousin has two boys of his own ) The brothers all have wonderful relationships, and can't imagine it any other way.

    I can't believe so many of you already know the gender! Our anatomy scan isn't until March 12th! My hospital also won't do it before 20 weeks.. BUT we had our 12 week scan yesterday and it was so wonderful! NT results are good, baby was moving around and is just so perfect already! And other great news: the cyst that had formed on my right ovary is gone! It must have burst open last week because I had intense pain for a few days and now it was nowhere to be found! Incredible news all around and we are so relieved and thankful!

    @ValentineMommy: He is sooooo cute! I think you should just give yourself time. Heck, when I first found out I was pregnant again, I was so perturbed. Now, I am in love with this little guy. Feelings come and go.
    @mrsjyw: Beautiful!
    @MamaCate: I am impressed! To be honest, walking my dogs is about all I do now.
    @Reese: There are some amazon videos for pregnancy I was looking into...but then I started looking at diaper bags.
    @Bluemasonjar: I was thinking the same thing! I am thinking about just having the sheet, teething guard and skirt.
    @TheSwissWifeStyle: What wonderful news! Congratulations!

    @ValentineMommy: I know how you feel! With DS, I really wanted a girl and was very dissapointed when the doc said we were having a boy. I had always pictured my first child to be a girl, I even had dreams about her. Of course I felt extremely guilty for being dissapointed but I really had to mourn the loss of the idea of that little girl. This time I'm already preparing myself that it will be another boy (for instance, I thought baby looked like DS on the u/s yesterday) and that it will be amazing to have two little brothers, just so I won't be dissapointed again.

    @angelachase: I feel bubbles in my stomach sometimes, and I just know it can't be anything else but baby. Doc said it could very well be, even this early. For me it's the best thing about being pregnant!

    @Reese: the crib skirt is cute for the first 4-6 months. Once the crib gets lowered, it's a hassle and doesn't look good! All the extra fabric gets bunched up!

    @MamaCate: I've been trying to mix it up a little bit. Yoga, cardio workouts on OnDemand, some different gym classes here and there.

    @mrsvdv: For me it feels like a muscle spasm sort of. Or I keep telling DH it keeps feeling like something is just wiggling or quivering in there! No definitive kicks at all, but just a feeling of wiggly movement that I know has to be baby splashing around. It's almost ticklish. It really is an amazing part of being pregnant!

    Thanks for the workout ideas ladies! I went to the gym my whole pregnancy with DD but that is no longer an option with schedules so I am trying find 30 minute things I can do at home in the morning. I am trying a different level of jillian today and will keep looking for other options. I think I have a prenatal yoga DVD somewhere too so I will see if I like it and let you guys know!

    @mrsjyw: congrats on a good scan! Are you feeling more relaxed or connected?

    Here's the pic of the scan that we shared the other day, when we made our FB announcement. I was 12w6d, and baby measured exactly that!

    @MrsH: I am glad to hear that you feel better than you did. But man, 6 weeks! I have a feeling this bronchitis won't be out of my system for another few weeks either. Thanks for the update and the hope, that I will eventually be over this

    @Reese: Thank you! And thanks for sharing that detail about your husband and his relationship with his brothers

    @smocks: I'm with you - my exercise is keeping up with my toddler. And when the temps get above freezing, I'll get my butt back outside and start walking. // Welcome to the July mama group! Congrats!

    @pearl: Congrats and welcome! I'm glad you're finding ways to make the hyperemesis manageable.

    @MamaCate: "it is probably more about the relationship than about the stuff" Thank you for this - this perspective is helping me work through the idea of being a mom to two boys.

    @ValentineMommy: Hugs! You are not alone in your feelings. I know each of our situations is unique, but just know you have company as you work through the feelings of it all.

    @mrsjyw: Thank you! And what great ultrasound pictures!

    @Mama Bird: Thank you and thank you for telling me about the great brother relationships in your family. This is new territory for me.

    @mrsvdv: I think I only know my baby's gender so early this time around because of the blood test I opted to take. Otherwise, it would have been mid-February when I have my anatomy ultrasound. // So glad to hear the cyst is gone! I hope the pain wasn't too bad.

  23. mrsjyw

    GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22646 posts

    @simplyfelicity: thanks! I am 12 weeks today (12w4d by the scan yesterday), so I'm considering this my last week of first trimester. And hoping to announce publicly in a couple of weeks.

    @sweetooth: I will def go through the same emotions as a boy mom! I think it's totally natural to feel sadness over not experiencing both genders!

    @TheSwissWifeStyle: beautiful baby!

    @MamaCate: thank you! I am def more relaxed. I think the connection will come a bit later as it took a bit with DS too. I am so excited for the months to come

    @Tidybee: thanks friend, I'm glad to say that the weeks are flying by!

    @Ginabean3: thank you!

    @TheSwissWifeStyle: yay! What a great pic of baby! So glad things are going well for you!

    @mrsjyw: glad you are feeling more relaxed! I don't think I really was aware of the low level anxiety I had all through the first trimester until I got out of it and I feel like I can relax and enjoy it so much more now!

    @MrsH: A rotation of Diclegis, phenergan at night, and mostly frozen foods. I drink a lot of smoothies made with whatever seems to be least offensive that day. How are you holding up? HG is so freakin hard in the first place, much less when you add in a toddler!

    nectarine / 2834 posts

    Maybe I'm the minority, but I would love to have two of the same gender! I have 2 sisters and DH has 2 brothers, and we're all super close to our siblings.

    I had another routine doc appt yesterday. Heartbeat is perfect, and I am still the weight I was when I got pregnant which I'm great with because I started about 5 pounds over my normal weight (thanks a lot miscarriages and D&Cs...and vacation).

  28. Bluemasonjar

    clementine / 920 posts

    @simplyfelicity: I am 13 weeks 2 days, my app still says 1st trimester but I should be just about into the 2nd. Right?

    Had our NT scan today, everything measured normal. The baby was bouncing around so much the tech had issues capturing measurements and then it laid down so she couldn't get the right angle so we had to meet with the midwife and go back for a second try at the ultrasound. Lots of baby viewing time today which was awesome!

    Time to tell friends and work! Trying to figure out how to break the news to my boss that just started before the holidays.

    This may be personal so I'm sorry I don't mean to offend.. is anyone doing the quad screen?
    We decided not to with our son, but this time around I thought it would be best to.
    However, now I'm having second thoughts and kind of freaking out about it.. false positives... the wait for test results etc.
    anyone feel the same or am I going coo coo ca choo?

  30. Reese

    pomegranate / 3521 posts

    @Mrs. Pickles: DD twin! I am - I think we call it the IPS. It's combined with the 12 week results. My MW said my ultrasound and everything on my 12 week test looked *great*! I wasn't sure if that meant I would be lower risk to test positive for the second part or what they could actually see. Do you know if they do your anatomy scan at your second half screening or is it two separate u/s?? I plan on asking my MW all of these questions next Tuesday. We decided to do it because there are already so many unknowns - we would like to know as much as possible. Especially if it's easily done through blood work and u/s

    @Mrs. Pickles: not sure if it's a quad screen, but they took five vials of blood at my nt scan appt and I have to go again in five weeks.

    @Bluemasonjar: Some consider the beginning or 13 weeks or 14 weeks the beginning of the first trimester.

  34. simplyfelicity

    cantaloupe / 6634 posts

    @Mrs. Pickles: I don't think it's personal at all! If my OB recommends it, I probably will. We didn't do the NT scan , though, but the tech said everything looked great with his spine.

    @simplyfelicity: Thank you! he's the greatest I'm sure your little guy will be too!

    @mrsvdv: I did the same thing this time - I was planning a boy nursery, cause I just had a feeling lol I'm a few days behind your dd, and I SWEAR I felt the little guy moving yesterday. He is apparently a hard core kicker. He even kicked the doppler when we were listening to his hb yesterday lol

    @Reese: Our crib is lowered all the way and we can still use the crib skirt. We also do the tuck thing. The fabric that's under the mattress...we just fold it up so the fabric hangs a little higher. It doesn't look bunchy on the outside at all. It's hard to explain, but my ds is almost two and we're still using his with no problem.

    @TheSwissWifeStyle: Yay! Cutie pie!

    @sweetooth: Thank you! As time goes by, the news is setting in. I know for me, as an interior designer, it becomes more "real" and fun for me once we start working on the nursery That's my form of bonding lol

    @simplyfelicity: I'm 12w on friday, so I have another week to go to be out of the 1st trimester Booo. However, my birthday is next Thursday, so that's close enough for me! I think that's when we will announce

    @Mrs. Pickles: I did the cell-free DNA test (like MaterniT21), which they said was more sensitive than the sequential. Not sure what extra the quad tests for (there are so many tests - it's confusing!!!)

    I'm super sad that we won't see the baby until March. Last we saw him was at 7w and he still looked blobby

  38. MamaCate

    pomegranate / 3595 posts

    @ValentineMommy: i don't think we'll have our anatomy scan until march either so we won't see baby boy until then. I am feeling much more relaxed now out of the first trimester and the movement helps, but it would be nice to have more peeks!

    @Mrs. Pickles: we did with our first. This time due to AMA they did the materniT21 instead which I think screens for more things. My OB didn't mention any other testing. My position (both times) is that getting a worrisome screening result would not change my decision to continue the pregnancy, but that it would be good to know so that whatever preparations could be made could be done in time, you know?

    Like my mom had a colleague who declined a lot of testing and didn't find out until the delivery that the baby had downs. Everything turned out fine but the baby had some trouble with something (breathing? heart?) at birth and had they known about the downs, they would have had more specialists in the room. So that is the kind of thing that for me the testing would help to avoid.

  39. Candy_nee

    apricot / 324 posts

    @Reese: with the crib skirt - I just sort of pulled it up from the center. So the sides and ends were still straight and the middle part (under the mattress) was bunched up. For the most part, it looked fine.

    You guys, I just had a Jimmy Johns. A veggie sub. And it COMPLETED me! I have now found a way to eat sushi and subs while pregnant. Veggie all the way! I find that it's the texture I'm looking for the most. The rice and seaweed of sushi, the yummy bread at a sub shop... I know some people break the "rules" and eat whatever they want during pregnancy. But I find that whatever I can do to limit issues for 9 months of my life to help the baby, I'll do it. But MAN, my cravings for a sub sandwich have been INTENSE! And today, I sat on my little cloud in heaven, eating a Jimmy Johns veggie sub feeling so happy Just had to share I'm not sure why I didn't think of it sooner!
