July 2015 Mamas!

@Reese: Not sure what an IS ultrasound is but pretty sure you'll have your anatomy scan then. Hopefully you don't have to wait too long. To be honest, my office only has a 2d and even at only 15 weeks, it was super obvious. Are there any "boutique" places with just 2d? Probably would be a lot cheaper.

@fuzzypeaches: 18 weeks sounds about right. My OB Office does anatomy from 18-20. Is that like a month from now for you?

@fuzzypeaches: yep it happened again last night. And during the day it happens sonewhat, but only a partial blockage. I think on Monday I will leave a message with my OB to let her know.

@fuzzypeaches: Yeah, I'm feeling boy. I have nothing to compare it to but I feel like it's a boy

@simplyfelicity: I didn't even think of trying to find a 2D place. I will look it up. I probably won't go that route since they don't check until 18 weeks (as a provincial standard - was the common answer I was getting) especially if I will get my anatomy scan that week or the week after.

@cvbee: that does sound scary! Hopefully younf out some answers soon.

@simplyfelicity: Aw thank you for asking! I am starting to feel better and managing to get out during the day now. Dinner time is still a rough time for me but I feel like the next few weeks will be when I get back to normal. I just got sick of hearing myself moan so decided to hold off on posting until I was better

Yay for all the good dr appointments and ultrasounds! We sure have a lot of boys in his group!!

It has been so fun finally sharing the news with everyone! We told LO on friday after my appointment and she was immediately excited and talking about how she would hold him and be so gentle and feed him a bottle. We keep talking about it every day and she seems really excited!

I went out to dinner with some of my favorite work friends last night--it was a treat to go out by myself without LO and it was so fun to share the news with them too. everyone was super excited. I just feel so relieved and happy...it has been a long road to get here!

Congrats on your healthy boy @simplyfelicity! I have a gut feeling I have a boy too!

@MamaCate: UBV they had a really good sale getting rid of the 2014 models. We tested the 2015 too it's not much different.

@Reese: Great! Good for you! It feels so official to be buying baby gear!

  14. Reese

    pomegranate / 3521 posts

@MamaCate: Yeah, I am of course a bit nervous about it and they don't accept refunds on strollers. DH was all about just buying it then and there so we went ahead and did it. It definitely felt unreal driving home with a stroller in the back seat (the box didn't fit in the trunk)

@simplyfelicity: yes! I think I can wait haha.

@Reese: amazing! I just bought one too (a different one on craigslist!) I put it together and test drove DS in it. I'm not sure how he'll react to sharing it haha. I love the uppababy I think your (boy?!) will love it

@MamaCate: how did you announce it?? So fun!

@cvbee: that's crazy! Let us know what happens!

@fuzzypeaches: I'm glad I am not alone in the baby purchases

@angelachase: Thank you! When do you hope to find out?

  18. angelachase

    apricot / 306 posts

@simplyfelicity: My anatomy scan is on February 18th--but DH really, really doesn't want to know, so it's still up for discussion whether or not we will be Team Green! I'm dying to know, though.

  19. simplyfelicity

    cantaloupe / 6634 posts

@angelachase: DH is the same way so we compromised...we found out the sex for our first but will be team green for the second. We'll see...

@Reese: That's so great! Feels so real to buy baby gear. My MIL was at some sort of silent auction yesterday and put all her tickets for this tractor. She won it and told us, "I got it for my grandson!" Feels so weird but good!

DH's family are huge baseball fans so we are doing a vintage baseball themed nursery. I know it's super early but I am just getting ideas. I like the idea of something that isn't too babyish that he can grow into and isn't team specific. Found this sign on etsy...I totally want it!

Wow, I'm not on here for a few days and there are so many good appts and ultrasounds! Congrats to everyone who found out the gender! So many boys!! (There were so many boys in my last due date group too - not hellobee).

I have the second part of my prenatal screening bloodwork this week then I can find out the results of the NIPT. I still want to stay team green but DH wants to find out. He's worried about narrowing down names. I sort of think it's a lot harder for Dad to bond with baby (can't feel movement till later, not the one who is pregnant etc) so I feel like I should "give" this to him, know what I mean?

Congratulations on all the baby boys!

@simplyfelicity: We are Team Green! So far everyone we have told is surprised because of my type A, planner personality but everyone I know that has waited has said it was worth it. We'll see how I feel as this pregnancy progresses.

Holy moly, 45 pages?! Well I'm obviously very late to the game, but I'll join Here's my stats, per the 1st page:

    Location: Detroit, MI

    EDD: 7/30/15

    How far along: 11w4d

    First child? Nope, #2

First doctor appointment: It was on 12/18. I have my 3rd appt (2nd was just u/s) tomorrow morning.

Any symptoms so far? Nothing terrible. I didn't really have m/s with #1, and besides a little one-off episode every once in awhile, no m/s with #2 either. I feel relatively normal.

Who have you told? Both sides of our family knows, my boss knows (told him Friday), some of my coworkers know... I haven't made any FB posts about it or anything yet though.

Congrats to the other mamas! I'm nervous about having 2 boys, and scared of the prospect of never having a little girl. There, I admitted it.

    @Mama Bird: Thanks!

@ValentineMommy: Thanks, girl and hugs to you about the girl vs boy issue. Your DS is awesome and #2 will be too. I remember how much you wanted a DD last time around, it's hard when you make plans in your head and they don't quite pan out as you had dreamed of. Btw - you know who I am, don't you? I'm not sure if you remember my HB username bc I'm rarely on.

@smocks: AH a fellow MI bee!? welcome!!! I am in Macomb and due a day before you!! We have our NT scan in W. Bloomfield tomorrow! (read through an old MI bee meet-up post!) How are you liking MI so far?

I just told my boss/friend, she was thrilled for us :), and I also started paperwork for my leave. This is becoming more real every day. Tomorrow is our NT scan and we hit 12 weeks on Wednesday. STILL so so surreal.

@ValentineMommy: DH and I were talking about the same thing this morning. I said if this one is a boy I won't be disappointed but I will be sad at the prospect of never having a girl. I think it is totally OK to feel like that though.

  30. smocks

    apricot / 483 posts

@mrsjyw: Ohhh yeah I forgot about that! We lived in W. Bloomfield last year and moved over to Novi back in August. We like Michigan ok, I guess. It's not home and we don't have any family or a whole lot of friends out here. DH works so much that it's really hard to have a social life. We should meet up sometime! I'm still down for the Troy idea. Where are you delivering?

  31. mrsjyw

    GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22646 posts

@smocks: Yes definitely down for a meet-up, I work remotely usually, but my office is in Troy! I used to live Canton for a hot second! DH and I met out that way Novi used to be so much fun, but we're rarely there anymore unless my BFF is in town and/or for an IKEA trip!

I am delivering at HF in Macomb, but need to head out that way for the genetic screening/NT scan tomorrow!

This weather I'm sure isn't helping getting "used" to MI! Where are you delivering?

  32. ValentineMommy

    pomelo / 5791 posts

@smocks: I know who you are I know deep, deep down that the boy/girl issue goes back to my adoption issues. I so badly want a little "me". It's honestly really painful.

@littlebittyhouse: I think it doesn't help that I haven't seen brothers get along. My dad and his brother, FIL and his brothers, and DH and his brothers all don't get along.

  33. smocks

    apricot / 483 posts

@ValentineMommy: I didn't even think of it from that angle, that's totally understandable. I selfishly hope you guys try for a third and it be a girl.

  34. Reese

    pomegranate / 3521 posts

    @smocks: Welcome!!

@ValentineMommy: totally understandable. I have no preference this time but I think I will for the second.

  35. smocks

@mrsjyw: DH did a couple rotations at that hospital, the whole HF system is pretty nice. I'm currently scheduled to deliver at Botsford (our insurance is through them, so they're the cheapest option) but I've heard mixed reviews about their OB/Peds depts and I'm debating on switching practices so I can deliver over at Beaumont. It's all up in the air right now.

I'm actually really used to the weather, I'm from Chicago and lived in WI and IA for a handful of years, so it's really no different. Doesn't make it more pleasant Jan-March though, lol

  36. Candy_nee

@ValentineMommy: I'm completely convinced that I'm also having another boy and with you on the fear of never having a girl. And that's ok! I think there's a part of every girl that wants a mini me to dress up and teach all the girly stuff to. I just remind myself what an awful teenager I was and it makes me feel a little better about being an all boy momma.

  37. simplyfelicity

    cantaloupe / 6634 posts

@Reese: I feel the same way. I really didn't have a preference for this one but would love a girl next. But one at a time.

  38. simplyfelicity

    cantaloupe / 6634 posts

@ValentineMommy: I hope you don't feel guilty about being a little disappointed! It must be really normal, especially if you believe this is your last. In the end, I am sure you wouldn't be able to imagine your life any other way. If it helps at all, my brothers get along well, my husband only has one brother (no other siblings) and they are great together and my brother-in-law has too brothers and they are so close. It really can happen!

@simplyfelicity: congrats on the they're crazy and fun at the same time

I don't really have a feeling either way, I didn't last time until the week before my u/s and I thought boy and I was right
However, my son keeps calling the baby she and says it's a girl and my husband can't think of any boy names so who knows!
We don't find out until Feb 13 so I'm a little jealous of ya'll

@ValentineMommy: I totally understand. I don't ever really say it for fear of judgment, but I will be a little heartbroken if we never have a girl.
