I'm keeping my basics. Sheets, bumper, skirt are aqua and white. For LO #1 I did gray walls and aqua accents. I think this time around I'm doing aqua walls and mustard yellow accents. I have a painting that my uncle did for my nursery when I was a baby. It is mustard yellow background with dumbo flying!

Everything kind of depends on boy or girl .. girl we're doing bright purples and turquoise with watercolors of Disney prints...boy with lots of bright greens and blues and mickey letters like these

We're keeping DS1's room as it is, and just getting him new toddler furniture. (I attached pictures). DH would flip his lid if I told him I wanted to repaint over those stripes lol
DS2 will be getting the nursery furniture, but it's all white so it doesn't really matter. He's also going to inherit a bunch of random stuff (diaper pail, sheets, etc) which are all aqua. So, we have to keep aqua in the color theme. I'm thinking of using Navy as the main color and aqua, with pops of red. I'm not super into actual themes, just bright colors and a more modern style.

@ValentineMommy: oh my God your nursery is absolutely gorgeous!!!! Wow!

@fuzzypeaches: Thank you! It isn't shown in the pics, but the diagonal stripes on the one wall point down to a little blue bee in the corner.

Just made this up this morning and I'm loving it for DS2.
DH is going to cry when I tell him I want not just stripes, but plaid! Lol

Ok, and here's my inspiration board. We already have the furniture, since it's DS1s. Yes, I know I went crazy today.

@simplyfelicity: @fuzzypeaches: @sweetooth: @MamaCate: Thank you!!!
I should have probably mentioned that I'm an interior designer by profession (and went to school for fine arts/painting). Chances are, I'll end up painting a vast majority of that - I did most of DS1s lol If anyone needs any inspiration, I'd love to help!!

I think we are leaning towards this theme, if it's a girl. Or we may go a bit more beach/surf-y...? If its a boy...no idea! Also maybe beach/surf-y.

@TheSwissWifeStyle: Adorable! I keep seeing a lot of nautical themes for boys based on our colors (navy, aqua, red). So cute!! A surf theme would be adorable for a boy!

I have not even started to think about this I'm not even sure if we can get DD out of her crib by then. For those on #2 when did you move #1 to a different bed? What kind of bed was it?
DD will only be 18-21 months when we would make the switch.

@TheSwissWifeStyle: A July 14 mommy stalking the July 15 mommy pages and I saw you are pregnant! Huge congrats mama!!

@TheSwissWifeStyle: We are team green and we were for DD but we did a beach and whale theme, and I think it turned out pretty gener neutral. We used navy blue and light green and then once DD came, her pinks and light purples looked adorable with the color scheme.

@MrsH: DS is 25 months and we are transitioning him to a twin bed in the next couple of weeks!
So we decided to keep DS in his room and to swap out furniture. It's less painting for DH, it's less organizing for me, and overall easier for DS with a lil less change since he's getting all big boy furniture. DH has started to piece together DS' furniture and will finish next weekend with his mattress coming in next Sunday. We'll probably do some paint touch ups and swap out some of the wall art, etc. But mostly keeping everything the same (aside from the furniture).
I haven't even thought about the nursery yet and likely won't until we know the gender in a month!

I'm just waiting patiently until Friday so I can share my theme depending on what gender LO is.. ok well maybe not so patiently

Cross-posting, since it fits under here better:
Question for those of you keeping your LO#1s in the same room and just swapping out furniture... did you redecorate too? We decided we won't be re-painting DS' room (I love the colors anyway), but there are a few patch jobs to do and I want to change out some wall art and such. I just don't know WHEN I'll do it, since it's a space we use so often, daily!

I feel like we got something accomplished with the nursery. Crib is up and building the dresser today. My art-work from Etsy is on the UPS truck for today. Can't wait to get home and see it! Should get the mobile and curtains this week to. Bring on the UPS truck! Here are a few pictures of my inspiration. I have the Dumbo Painting that my uncle did. So that's my color pallet. I bought the Gray Elephant from Potterybarn and the Sunshine Canvas from Etsy. Getting super excited! How about all of you?

@mrsjyw: I kept the same bedding and furniture from LO#1. It is white with aqua stripes. Going to do a different paint color on the walls. With LO#1 I did white, aqua and gray. LO#2 I'm doing Aqua, Mustard Yellow and Gray. So just changing out the artwork and paint.

@MrsH: I started the transistion with DS at about 2 years. I took just the front side off the crib and lowered the mattress as low as it would go. He fell out a few times, but I put down pillows to soften the fall. WE got him a twin bed last weekend and he was super excited! He is now 26 months old. He loves his new bed. Is doing really well with it to!

@turkeylurkey: that looks great! how special to have something from the family!
You guys are helping me get motivated to get going on listing our house and selling so we can buy a bigger place and then start thinking about baby's room (and DD's of course)! I think all the DIY is done so now it is decluttering, which I have been doing in my head, and getting the ball rolling with our realtor. Fingers crossed for us please!

Ok, so I just kind of threw this together. We are most likely going to get Ikea furniture. Rocking chairs and gliders like, don't exist in this country.... So we have an old blue lazy boy in the living room that we will probably put in the baby's room. (Seriously this thing is so old. I think my mom gave it to my dad for Valentine's day in 1990. But it's still in good shape!)
Anywho...I dunno. I kinda suck at this! lol
ETA, oh WTF. Why is the pic so small!? Fail.

I've been working on my inspiration board so thought I would share! I'm trying to go with a calm, coastal type feel with white, cream, grey and silver then add touches of pink once all the base things are done. I don't want to go pink overboard so I'm thinking maybe just the cot linen and a framed artwork of some type and then maybe pink wallpaper inside the closet too. Not completely sure yet, but am very happy with how the inspiration board looks anyway!

@TheSwissWifeStyle: @bunnylove: those look great!
Those of you doing nautical Land of Nod had some things at one point.

here is my question of the day.. why does every bedding set come with a bumper if they aren't safe to use? yeesh
cantaloupe / 6634 posts
@Mrs. Pickles: My thoughts, too! I am getting a teething guard and breathable bumper instead.
kiwi / 541 posts
@QBbride: thank you! It took awhile to get but worth the wait. It is the perfect size to hang above the crib or changing table.
nectarine / 2600 posts
@Mrs. Pickles: good question! I wonder this myself. They say you can put them on after one year, right?
pomelo / 5791 posts
@TheSwissWifeStyle: I love the colors!
@bunnylove: love it! I want to live in all those knitted pillows lol
@Mrs. Pickles: right? So stupid. I'm just buying sheets and a crib skirt. We bought DS1 an expensive quilt as well, and it's still never been used (in 2 years)
Soooo, I had a huge change of heart over the weekend while cleaning out the future nursery to get ready to prime it. We're ditching the plaid and instead going to do something herringbone like this, but with much bolder colors (navys, aquas, a little red and a little golden yellow):

@ValentineMommy: that is amazing!! I wish I had your paint skillZ. Wanna come over?
