@Eko: Holy cow, 6 teeth?! Holly has two on the bottom and two that have just broken through on the top! It's crazy how these kids are all so different! That's great that you're at a good place right now!

Holly is still super easy going and happy. The only thing she complains about is not being able to crawl, but I really think she is days away. She already pulls up on everything, for a minute there I though she might just skip crawling, but I think she is going to do it. Then I'll be sorry! She's already pretty mobile though with the way she rolls around.

@schubr03: What a cutie! To answer your question, at first I couldn't really remember telling Holly no, but now I remember that I have told her no when she's tried to pull the dog or her sister's hair. She hasn't seem to really get it so far. She really only whining/crying when she can't figure out how to crawl, so in that case, I usually I just empathize with her and help her get where she wants to go or put her in the bouncer or something. I'm sure this is something I should remember from my first, but it all blurs together! LOL!

I took some pictures of Holly today and a romper that she'll outgrow before summer. She is wearing all 12-18 now!

She's always sticking out her tongue these days, lol!

    Here's a more normal face...

And her funny attempts at crawling...

@schubr03: W whines a little when I don't pick him up and he wants to be held, or if I sometimes take something away from him. But it's brief and I can easily distract him. The only time I tell him no is when he tries pulling my hair. He most definitely doesn't get it, but I will also pull his hand away and think it's still a good learning practice.

@78h2o: W did a lot of those same moves just before he started crawling. He found something he really wanted to go after and then it 'clicked'. He hasn't really been pulling himself on much yet. He will try with one hand, but isn't confident enough to really do it.

W just had his 9 month appointment and is moving great along his growth curve. He is 20lbs. 29 inches, and still has a big head. lol. It's funny because we just removed his crib bumper thinking he didn't really need it and what happens? He gets himself stuck immediately. I think it's so funny how babies are soooo different.

We had Ellie's 9 month appointment 1 week ago. She is 24 lbs. 2 oz. and 29.5 inches long! Such a big kid!

She is cruising and crawling everywhere and just getting into everything at this point! She can also pop up to standing in the middle of the floor with no support and stand there for quite a while. Everyone says she is going to start taking steps very soon! She also loves to climb our stairs but has not figured out how to go down yet.

We still just have the 2 bottom teeth but I think the 2 top teeth are very close to coming through.

@schubr03: Ellie will definitely whine if she wants or doesn't want something. She will even push our hands away if we try to feed her something and she doesn't want it!

Ellie seems to be starting to understand the word "no". But it is very hit or miss at this point still. I have tried to couple saying the word with physically stopping her action (taking her hand off the item she's pulling off a shelf or picking her up and moving her away from the cable box she is trying to turn off for example). I think that is helping to build the association that that word means you are supposed to stop doing whatever you are doing.

@78h2o: Ellie is in all 12-18 month clothes too and I've been buying 24 month stuff for this summer!

We went to Florida with DH's family for a week in the middle of February. We took Ellie to both Busch Gardens and Universal Studios and I just have to show off some of her cute pictures from the trip! Forgive me my proud mama moment!

I really love this! I love seeing how every single baby is different and growing at their own perfect pace! It's so exciting!

@Mrs.KMM: how was going to the amusement parks with an infant? Stressful? Fun? Exhausting? All of the above?

  9. Mrs.KMM

    grapefruit / 4355 posts

@schubr03: I thought it was fun and honestly didn't find it stressful at all. We brought an umbrella stroller, our carrier, and switched my diaper bag to a backpack since it would be easier to carry around all day. When DD got tired, we tried to get her to fall asleep in the stroller and if she was resisting, just put her in the carrier and we were good to go!

We went with my in-laws so there were four adults in the group. It made it easy for us to still ride rides because there were enough adults to take turns staying behind with DD. Ellie was even tall enough to ride a few of the baby rides herself!

Can't believe how big everyone's littles are getting! This year really has flown by!

Ellie just turned 9mos on the 4th. She's still working on standing alone and does it for a few seconds at a time. She uses her little push toys to walk around the house and crawls like a mad women and gets into everythig! She learned how to clap a couple weeks ago and it's pretty hilarious. Sometimes I'll wake up to her in the middle of the night clapping and crying. It's adorable. She also knows how to wave and say Hi and she finally says mama! She slept through the night a week ago for the first time since she was 1 month old! I was so shocked! She wakes up a few times a night regularly to nurse still but it's getting a little better. So hard to believe that in 3 mos. I'll have a 1 year old 😢

Funny, I posted on Monday about Holly not crawling yet, and then yesterday, and then the next day, she started crawling like crazy and pulling up on anything and everything. Just like that and she could get across the room and into trouble in<30 seconds!!!

@78h2o: OMG! I totally agree! They get into everything so fast once they start crawling! And Ellie has a knack of finding everything she is not supposed to play with.

Hi all! What are your tiny humans eating for lunch? I'd like to get some new ideas!

Weather is getting nicer here, so we have been able to go outside and to the park! Ella loves the swings!

We're still just on breakfast and dinner. I'm so behind on the food train. I don't know if I'm giving her enough, when to give more or more meals...

@LindsayInNY: in the same boat. We only do lunch and dinner now.

We are mostly just doin breakfast and dinner. Sometimes I'll give her snacks like a banana or some fruit.

Ellie took her first steps yesterday! I cried haha. Can't believe she's fully mobile now. Let the trouble begin!

@schubr03: love the shades. We have some for Ellie but she refuses to leave them on.

  19. MrsBrewer

    coconut / 8854 posts

@schubr03: We do leftovers most of the time. For the last few days she has had meatballs and mashed potatoes with gravy, and cut up carrots. Other days she will have 1/4 PB&J w/ applesauce. We do a lot of string cheese, and cut up veggies or fruit.

  20. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@schubr03: I've been trying to stick with the "breastmilk as main source" idea so I don't know how to work 3 meals in around that, without replacing the milk. Right now, she nurses at 6:45 a.m. and bottles around 9, 12 and 3 at daycare. So breakfast is 8/8:30 and dinner is 5/5:30. How do I add lunch without it basically replacing that lunch bottle? I'm probably overthinking things but it's confusing!

  21. MrsBrewer

@hocuspocus: OMG walking?! My LO still hasn't even figured out crawling yet! Although she has mastered rolling, and sitting up from laying down finally!

  22. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@MrsBrewer: Do you take the BLW approach and let her just feed herself those things? Is she at daycare? Trying to figure out how that would go over there...

  23. MrsBrewer

    coconut / 8854 posts

@LindsayInNY: Hmm that's a good question. I'm sure it's different for every baby but right now I'm down to nursing at 7, breakfast at 8, nurse at 10:30-11, lunch 12-12:30, nurse at 3:30, dinner at 6, nurse to sleep at 8.

  24. MrsBrewer

    coconut / 8854 posts

@LindsayInNY: Yea I guess it's the BLW kind of, I just cut everything up in chunks and let her feed herself, except for like the applesauce/mashed potatoes/etc. I feed her those on a spoon. Most of the time though if I put something in her mouth, she pulls it out anyways, looks at it, then puts it back in......messy but it gets the job done!

She is at home with me on the weekend Monday, and Tuesday, at the babysitter (who only watches her at her home) Wed, thurs, and then at home with my mom or MIL on Friday. So not in daycare......I'm not sure how they would handle that??

  25. cascademom

@MrsBrewer: My guy can scoot backward really well. He does some rolling, but isn't into it. He's also a back sleeper which is so different from his brother.

  26. MrsBrewer

    coconut / 8854 posts

@cascademom: I love when babies scoot! That's so cute! Do you have hard wood floors? DD spends most of her time on carpet, so I have a feeling she won't scoot too much!

  27. hocuspocus

    apricot / 373 posts

@LindsayInNY: everythig I've read re BLW says food before 1 is just for fun. I always offer Ellie milk before I give her food. She usually eats it all even after nursing

@MrsBrewer: maybe she'll skip crawling all together and go straight to walking! I miss the days when Ellie wasn't mobile lol she's into everything now!

  28. cascademom

    coconut / 8861 posts

@MrsBrewer: Carpet and one rug with tons of baby and kid toys everywhere. We practiced rolling and scooting in his room which isn't as full as the downstairs.

  29. MrsBrewer

    coconut / 8854 posts

@hocuspocus: I think that may be the case! Although I don't mind her not moving around much. Although this last week, she has discovered pulling up on things too, and last night she was getting daring, and letting go but then would fall on her butt.

  30. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@MrsBrewer: At least she lands on her butt! We've had 3 incidents with daycare over 2 weeks of Quinn bumping her head. After the second, I sent the director a rather firm email about the teachers needing to communicate better when they move her from one room to another.

  31. MrsBrewer

    coconut / 8854 posts

@LindsayInNY: Oh no!!! How is she bumping her head? Is it on toys? Or is she falling on stuff?

  32. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@MrsBrewer: Falling. She wasn't doing so well at pulling up to stand and would fall and hit her head - crib, toys, etc. Even at home. She's getting better though but I still have to remind them that she's mobile and needs to be watched! Today I had to tell her teacher to lock the wheels on a crib because Quinn stood up and the crib was moving with her! UGH daycare.

  33. MrsBrewer

    coconut / 8854 posts

@LindsayInNY: So weird that you have to remind them of that!! You would think they are pretty familiar with the different stages!! I'm sorry, hopefully they will be much more diligent!

  34. schubr03

    apricot / 486 posts

Ahhh! First steps! So crazy! I think Ella is close! She is cruising on EVERYTHING and used everything she can as a walker. So I'm thinking within the month she'll be walking!
I am also in the boat of having breast milk as main source of food. That's why we don't do breakfast. She nurses twice really close together in the morning. We are using the third foods by Gerber. She really likes the ones with meat. She eats usually 1/4 banana too and some puffs. I should get some string cheese, that's a good idea.

  35. Eko

    nectarine / 2148 posts

@LindsayInNY: We are still doing formula as a main source of food. We do breakfast, lunch, and dinner in between feedings. We do a combo of jarred purees and BLW stuff. He gets cut up veggies, puffs, cheerios. But I mostly do it for practicing. He eats sooo much that he does really need to eat heavier foods. Plus, fruit at this point I like better in the jars for the most part. My daycare follows the same food routine. If anything they are more daring on feeding him foods than I am.

LO is crawling and fortunately he does not want to get into absolutely everything, but does a good job at wanting to get around. He has started pulling himself up on things and we are in trouble that he loves it so much that he tries to find things that he really shouldn't use to pull himself up, so there is lots of tumbling for that reason. I feel like I have to watch him more closely for that reason then when he was just crawling.

I think it's super cute, but when I put DS in his crib and he's still awake he starts to say mama when I leave him. I am giving that one to myself as he doesn't say it usually at any other time.

  36. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@schubr03: I should try the 3rd foods... It's just that the meat weirds me out for some reason!

@Eko: Are they cooked veggies? I give her cheerios and puffs but am always afraid of choking with other foods.

I need to figure this out... Got a note from daycare last night that we need to start giving her thicker purees with chunks. Ugh.

  37. Eko

    nectarine / 2148 posts

@LindsayInNY: yup! Everything is steamed. I cook a lot with out crockpot, so I usually end up giving him veggies, potatoes, meat from that. We have not had a choking incident. Apparently he stole a cheez-it from one of the other kids plates and ate it. He also eats pancakes and grilled cheese at daycare.

  38. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@Eko: I've been fairly adventurous with just handing her things. We eat dinner after she goes to bed so it's a little hard to eat with her during the weekdays. I don't know if daycare meant she was somehow "behind" or if it's just to tee her up for the next room where she will be eating daycare food?

  39. Eko

    nectarine / 2148 posts

@LindsayInNY: It might be a prep thing. I feel like we are behind the bandwagon on frequency in which we feed him solid foods. Soon he will be off of formula and I'm scared!! lol.

  40. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@Eko: It'd be nice if they told me that but they suck at communicating... If you're behind, we certainly are! I don't even know if she's drinking much from a sippy cup yet. I have a feeling she'll be a hard boob weaner too...
