Good luck ladies! So sad I won't be able to join you the rest of the way. I confirmed that I miscarried unfortunately. I pray that you all have perfect healthy pregnancies! I may check in closer to your due dates to wish everyone luck, and in remembrance of this LO that I lost too early.

I have a question that is probably best answered by third time+ moms, but maybe others are dealing with it? Have you had a lot of muscle soreness in your lower abdomen (uterine) area? If I pick up my son wrong, or sneeze, or even stand up too quickly sometimes I get a lot of muscle tightness that ends up hurting. I usually can't straighten up for a few seconds until it passes. Hopefully that description makes sense. It's not cramping, and not internal...it feels like it's my lower abdominal muscles and kinda moves out towards my hips. I don't really remember dealing with this at all (even later in pregnancy) with my DS. I was wondering if it's because things might be growing/stretch faster since I've been through a pregnancy before and it's just muscle soreness from that?

Hi ladies! I haven't been very active on here (I've been reading but not replying) since morning sickness is kicking my butt. Had a scare last week with some bleeding but had my follow up saying ultrasound yesterday and baby was there with a heartrate of 167bpm. Measured 8 weeks so my official due date is June 7. I am been absolutely useless at the moment because of severe morning sickness, my kids are basically in front of the tv all day and dh is having to do all the cooking and kids night time routines. Just hoping it disappears faster than with my other pregnancies! Hope you all are coping well.

@bookwormmama: I absolutely had this with my first pregnancy and I'm having it again this time around. I think it's "round ligament pain".
http://www.webmd.com/baby/guide/pregnancy-round-ligament-pain#1
I didn't feel it until much later the first time around, but it was exactly like this. I do think it's happening earlier now because our bodies are changing faster since they've done this before
And look at the bottom of the page linked above at what causes it -
sneezing, coughing, standing up quickly. Exactly as you describe.

@math.nerd: Oh thank you! That describes it almost perfectly! Its like a muscle or ligament is too tight and I have to wait for it to relax before moving more. I had kinda wondered if it was round ligament pain since I've heard it mentioned so often. I dont think I had it at all with my first, so I didn't know what it was! Do you feel like the ligament area is always a little sore too? Right now I'm just sitting, but I feel a some general soreness along my hip line. I have been sneezing a lot (allergies maybe?) so maybe the extra stress is making the area more sore.

@YogiBeachWife Welcome!
Today in very pregnant things...try to wrestle open new container of prenatal vitamins, somehow punch self in boob, cry. Now laughing about it, just thought I'd share this amusement with you all.

Hi mamas! So happy to be back on the date boards. DD was Feb 2015 and I missed the camaraderie of my mama month twins!!
Location: Alexandria, VA
EDD: June 6th
How far along: 8 weeks 2 days
First child? no, have a 20 month old
First doctor appointment: ultrasound last Friday. Saw and heard heartbeat, it was very strong! I think she said ~145 bpm
Any symptoms so far? feel like crap. All day morning sickness, vomiting, tiredness, craving anything sour, starting to feel the round ligament pain @BOOKWORMMAMA was describing, and I already look like I'm 5 months pregnant. Yay!
Who have you told? I have such a big mouth. DH, our parents, close friends.
So excited to be on this journey with you ladies!!

@YogiBeachWife: welcome!
@GreeneB2: welcome! Ugh yeah it didn't help I looked three months pregnant before I was even pregnant. My stomach went down better after twins than after my third kid.

@YogiBeachWife: @GreeneB2: welcome and congrats!
@bookwormmama: I'm having the same and had it with my second too. I'm taking it as a good sign that things are moving along.
@msmilkshake: this cracked me up - thanks for sharing!

@tequiero21: I feel like I didn't look pregnant with my first until I was ~ 6 months, but this one I already feel so huge! Not going to be able to hide it from my coworkers for much longer.

@GreeneB2: I looked pregnant at 8 weeks with my second and like 6 weeks with my last pregnancy. It's crazy how your uterus just puffs out immediately with subsequent pregnancies.

With holidays approaching, who is considering announcing their pregnancy at Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, etc.? Perhaps some of you will know the sex by then and will announce that. Thoughts?

@rattles: @tequiero21: @Winnie13: Thank you!!
@combatlibby: We decided to announce at Christmas. I've been trying to come up with a fun way to announce and I think I found it! I'm a big wine drinker and my family will know right away I'm pregnant if I decline. So I found these cute wine label's and will bring a bottle of wine as a hostess gift. I know my mother-in-law and mom will at least look at the bottle or want to open it right away. They won't suspect a thing! I found them on etsy: https://www.etsy.com/listing/170054405/custom-wine-label-pregnancy-announcement

I don't think we'll do any sort of announcing this time. We will obviously have to tell people sooner or later. But no social media announcement until baby is safely here.

@GreeneB2: doesn't help that this is the time we feel so gassy and bloated.
persimmon / 1198 posts
@rattles: that's the approach I have been taking too! I figured it meant things were growing, but I wasn't sure what it was!
@combatlibby: We are going to tell my in-laws when we visit for Thanksgiving and then probably FaceTime my family that day too. I will be like 10-11 weeks, which is later than we told our parents last time. We only see my in-laws a couple times a year, so it's fun we get to tell them in person! We told my parents in person last time, so we thought it was fun that it would be swapped this time! We are going to put our DS in a big brother shirt when we get to their house (they live several states away, so we will be driving there before Thanksgiving). We are going to tell my extended family (aunts, cousins, etc) at our family Christmas party...I think I'll be about 16 weeks. We will probably do the same thing and have our son wear a shirt. We won't announce on social media until after Christmas. We might wait until we know the sex.
cherry / 128 posts
@winniebee: Thanks! How long do you think you'll wait to tell your close friends and family? I'm with ya on the social media.. not sure when I'll do that. I would prob even wait longer than 14 weeks to tell my parents but I know they will find out at Christmas. No way of hiding it!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@YogiBeachWife: it's sort of touchy because we had a pretty major loss back in June. I am guessing I'll tell my mom shortly (because I may need her to come to an ultrasound with me) and then maybe other close family after our first ultrasound. I'm going to try not to really tell any friends until after we have our NIPT (genetic testing) done in December. I I think most people go public around 12 weeks though! In other pregnancies we have told our family after our first ultrasound

@combatlibby: if all goes well, think we will announce to family. We have a first year bday for my cousin's daughter when I'm 14 weeks. Hopefully by then we will know the sex. I'll prolly tell my brother when we get our first us.
@winniebee: we never announced last pregnancy until he was born. Will do the same this time around.

@YogiBeachWife: That is so cute!
@MrsStar: So sorry that you are so sick!! Hoping you feel better soon!

@combatlibby: I actually had to tell the first person tonight - still feeling a little guilty I told someone outside the family before actually breaking the news to either set of parents but I told my netball coach to ask for advice. Netball is technically a non-contact sport but, like basketball, there's a lot of tussle and sometimes bruises and falls etc so I really wasn't sure if I should keep playing or not. She told me not to so I just played the first quarter and then came off court by saying I felt unwell. Unfortunately, one other teammate guessed right away. I really wanted to wait as long as possible - start of December at least but am already looking big and puffy. I'll try to conceal as best I can at work but haven't decided when to tell parents yet. It's nice just having this as 'us' time with my husband but I've already gone and blabbed!
