@rattles: yes thank you for the list!
Congrats and welcome to all the new June mommies that have joined us!
I need some opinions. We are telling my in-laws about the baby the day we get to their house (after a very long drive). I was thinking we would stop before we get to their house and throw a big brother shirt on our son so when he gets out of the car they will see it. But my DH was thinking maybe we should let things settle, then put him in a shirt after changing his diaper. I thought it would be a fun initial surprise and make things more exciting overall to do it right away...but maybe my DH is right about letting things settle? I'm also a little worried about how big/noticeable I will be by 11 weeks, so doing it right away will avoid that. What do you all think?

@bookwormmama: Doing it right away would be a fun ice breaker! I think the surprise would be fun!
Girls, I just ordered a bellaband! My jeans were way too tight yesterday! Couldn't even breathe! Wish I could rock leggings for life!

@Winnie13: I've had to switch to fold over leggings. My regular leggings no longer fit! It seems ridiculous.
Welcome to all the ladies who've joined since I last posted!
I'm still having really bad morning sickness. Yesterday was one of the worst days yet. I'm really hoping things will get better soon. I'm totally miserable! At least I can commiserate with you ladies! I also scheduled my NT scan for the week after Thanksgiving.

@bookwormmama: I think I'd keep the tshirt idea to surprise them after you've settled. It would be nice to catch your parents when they expect it least as you'll already be excited and happy to see them when you get reunited but then you can change him into his tshirt at any convenient moment, when your son can be in on the event too. He might be too tired after the long trip to understand why his tshirt causes so much commotion? I suppose it depends on how you're all feeling after the drive! But you prob want to be feeling your best too to be able to enjoy the moment fully. Good luck!

@Winnie13: I get along really well with my in-laws, so I don't really need it to break the ice, but I agree it would be a really fun surprise and make things more exciting overall!
@Tubbs: That's a good point. We will be splitting our long drive up over two days, so it will be about 7 hours in the car that day I think. He's really excited about telling them (we've been talking about it) and I don't want him blurting it out before we are ready, haha! I was thinking we could record their reactions without looking suspicious if it's when we get there...but it could go either way. I guess we could always play it by ear when we get there. I think last time he fell asleep a little before we got there, so that would rule out a shirt change before we get to the house if that happens again!

My school is a polling place, so I have today off. Thus am lying here drinking seltzer and waiting for the current wave of nausea to subside. Don't forget to vote US mamas!

@msmilkshake: Sorry that you can't really enjoy your day off Seltzer is a staple for me these days but ugh - it's hard to stomach anything!
I'm taking my daughter with me to vote and then out for pancakes for lunch. She's super excited about voting (because she doesn't know about the pancakes yet ). I love that I get some mom & daughter time with her on this day

Anxiously watching the British coverage of the election!
I was meant to have my first hospital/midwife meeting today but once I got there and they looked at my address, they said I had to be with the bordering county's midwife team instead. They weren't sure as my postal address is one county but I actually pay council tax to a different county so after 15mins trying to contact the neighbouring team, I was sent home I have to wait until Sunday now to officially start the process. Just glad I don't have to ask for more time off work as I would feel pretty silly!

Treated myself to starbucks this morning since.....my toddler was up for TWO hours in the middle of the night last night....and my 4 year old was up at 5:30. Thanks, DST! Gotta stay awake for election coverage!!!

I've been waiting to join -- I had a miscarriage in August so I'm still a little on edge -- but a good appointment this morning pushed me to finally jump in here!
Location: NC
EDD: June 26th (but I will likely deliver in July -- DS was an induction at 41+1)
How far along: based on EDD, 7 weeks 1 day
First child? nope, DS turned 2 in September!
First doctor appointment: Just had it this morning. HB was 146! Next appointment/ultrasound is the day before Thanksgiving.
Any symptoms so far? nausea, enormous boobs (already up a cup size), wanting to go to bed at 8:30pm.
Who have you told? my sister, my two BFFs at work, and @LBee:. Planning to tell our parents and siblings tonight!

I've been really nervous for tomorrow's appointment. Nothing major, but a few little warning signs (measuring behind, progesterone drop, etc.) have made me less confident, even though all symptoms point to things being fine. I took my girls to Mass this morning, then to vote and out for donuts. They're excited for our watch party tonight and rocking patriotic outfits. I was glad to have the time with them and to feel well enough to enjoy the treat!
@jape14: welcome, and congrats on your rainbow baby! Glad to hear there was a great little heartbeat!

@winniebee: my 15 month old was up for several hours last night as well. I'm exhausted but I know I need to take her outside after nap so she's not up all night again. Yesterday I actually wasn't feeling too bad so we went to the park and she took an extra long nap. I'm thinking the nap is what did me in. Plus I've got bad pregnancy insomnia.
@jape14: congrats and welcome!

@Tubbs: Oh that's so disappointing! I'm sorry you have to wait
@winniebee: Yes for coffee! The time change is killing me and I think J is working on 2 year molars - maybe R too? I don't know how I'm going to stay up for coverage, but how could I not?
@jape14: Congratulations! Welcome

@rattles: It's so hard to have those doubts. I hope you have a great appointment tomorrow!

@rattles and @jape14 I can totally relate to the concern and anxiety despite good signs. My next u/s is next week and I'm super anxious even though I have no real reason to be. Hugs to you and continued good news!

Just checking in, hope everyone is doing well. I have been so nauseous this time around....it is literally kicking my butt! I had my first appt last week and everything went well I had a midwife with my first pregnancy, and since she moved away i had to find a new OB doctor. Has anyone experienced both? She seems to do things a little different... is it normal to have a breast exam done at your first appt? i never had to do that last time around and wasnt expecting that..
cherry / 146 posts
@mrs.hawk71 I had a breast exam at my first appointment too, my OB basically said that they do the equivalent of a normal gyno appointment at your first appointment.
Staying up so late last night led to a rough one today. Early bed for me tonight!

@Mrs.Hawk71: my first appt, got Pap smear, breast exam, and a ton of blood taken.
pear / 1586 posts
@Mrs.Hawk71: at my dating/ultrasound appt yesterday, they scheduled my next appt as a "new OB appt" where I will get a breast exam, etc in addition to another ultrasound. I'm not getting a pap because I'm up to date but apparently it's par for the course.

@Mrs.Hawk71: I got a breast exam last time and this time too. I like having everything done just to feel peace of mind.
Thanks for everyone's welcome, I got so busy with work and study, so I have been following a little but mostly absent.
I had a good first appointment, my OB did an ultrasound and I could see this tiny heart beating like crazy. I measured at one day behind what I thought I would be, so that's pretty accurate!
Does anyone have experience with CMV? There was a recent case at LO's childcare centre (not in his room though) and I'm just paranoid that I will get it somehow. A blood test last pregnancy confirmed I had never had CMV so I have no protection against it. I just really don't want to expose the new baby to it. It's so hard to avoid illnesses with a 14 month old, even if I constantly wash my hands I feel like something's going to get through.
persimmon / 1310 posts
@kitty: I also tested negative for CMV in a previous pregnancy, so then I was super cautious. I worked with some kids who were deaf, presumed to have been caused by CMV infection in utero. Scares the crap out of me!

@mrs.hawk71 I'm in the same boat with midwife last pregnancy and can't find a group here (I just moved to CA from DC). I'm bummed since I loved the energy and compassion of the midwives. I'm strongly considering hiring a midwife for delivery anyways so she would be like a combo midwife/doula.

Thank you all for the reassurance! Everything went smoothly, and I feel so much better! The baby was kicking, kicking and kicking some more! Heartbeat was 159. I'm still measuring a little behind, so she's settling the due date as 6/6. I'm feeling better the last few days, so I'm cautiously optimistic that I've avoided the kind of MS I had last time. The SI pain is aready back, so I'm just doing the stretches and exercises from PT at home.
persimmon / 1198 posts
@rattles: I'm glad your appointment went well! I have SI joint issues outside of pregnancy (a genetic thing with all the women in my family) and it it bothered me a lot during my last pregnancy. I have had some off and on pain this time...usually from side sleeping. What stretches do you do? I keep meaning to see a PT, but I never have the time!
Sorry for being MIA...time has been passing quickly the past two weeks! Glad to hear good updates on appointments from people!
I was feeling a lot better MS wise last week, but it has revved back up this week. I started taking Prevacid after my appointment last week, and it has been helping some, especially at night. I'm guessing there are some growth spurts (or maybe placenta growth?) that are young the hormones and making the MS worse. I puked up water this morning! I definitely wanted to spend my birthday morning puking...thanks kid 🙄
grapefruit / 4903 posts
@bookwormmama: let me see if I still have the handouts from my last pregnancy to send to you. If not, I'll try and describe. Happy birthday! I hope you're feeling better!
honeydew / 7968 posts
@rattles: woo hoo! Great pic!
So, anyone have me beat? I ran into the bathroom because I had to throw up and all three of my kids run into the bathroom with me laughing and being grossed out at the same time. I did ask for candy and they all ran and brought me one each.
persimmon / 1198 posts
@rattles: thank you! I felt a little better throughout the day. I had to go renew my license this morning (which included a written test since I had an out of state ID) so it was a busy morning, and maybe that added stress and made me sick.
@tequiero21: it is! Thank you! Happy early birthday to you! And your story about your kids made me laugh...anytime I gag my son is always asking, "you throw up mom?!" Oh toddlers!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@rattles: So glad that everything went well!
I'm alternating between feeling horrible and (in the few moments where I don't feel terrible) assuming that something must wrong
I'm with the rest of you just lurking around here and feeling too sick to participate in much of the world. Ugh.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
I'm so far behind you guys! Only 6w and I am feeling better than my last 2 pregnancies - only mild nausea and increased hunger and acne. Pretty similar to my first pregnancy. Trying to not be a basket case, but my first ultrasound is Monday.
cherry / 128 posts
@rattles: Awe! Happy all went well for you! Thank you also for making the list.
I've been quietly reading everyone's posts. This being my first baby I have nothing to compare pregnancy too. Kinda nervous as I'm not having many pregnancy symptoms. Except for being more tired, some bloat, and mild cramping here and there. 8 weeks and so far no nausea or sore breasts. I've been more picking with food but that could be just in my head! My first appointment is Monday. Feeling anxious but also excited!

@rattles great ultrasound pic and super happy for you
@tequiero21 I'm sorry but your story made me crack up. I'm so sorry you're feeling sick but the image of all your kids joining you is pretty funny and kind of sweet.
@yogibeachwife @Winniebee first appointment jitters stink. I can totally relate. I have my second ultrasound on Tuesday and am super anxious. Hang in there we are rooting for you!

@winniebee: eek gl! Mine is on wed!!
@Mrs. Pajamas: this morning, they proceed to tell my helper that I threw up in the toilet because I was sick and maybe I'll be sick again today. Ugh, thx guys.
@YogiBeachWife: @Mrs. Pajamas: gl w your appts!!
