@Becky: tights stay up? I feel like I’m always tugging at stockings when I’m not pregnant 😂

@BUNBUN: I have 4 pairs of these fleece lined ones I got at TJ Maxx. I know one brand is Kate Spade but no idea on the other. They sit below the waist like low rise jeans and I love them when I’m pregnant and when I’m not pregnant!

@skiierchck99: I’m right where you were two weeks ago with the news of a little boy! How are you feeling about it now after some time to absorb??

@yellowbeach: Definitely more certain! The Radiologist guesses boy during our 13 week ultrasound last week (she didn’t know) so I guess it’s real! Sad to give away dd’s clothes but I don’t want to hang onto them because we might have a third - need to start going through them to take out anything neutral. We’ve been thinking of names and it feels harder than girl names! But overall just grateful to have a healthy, easy pregnancy so far this time.

How are you and fam taking the boy news? Is DH excited?

@skiierchck99: DH was in total shock. I think he's growing more and more excited. My sister and 3 nieces couldn't believe it. I haven't yet told my parents - I think my dad will be most shocked/excited as he's been the lone Y chromosome in our family for 53 years of his marriage to my mom. I'm debating sending them flowers in a white or blue shade and having the florist film their reaction (they live 2 hrs away).

@yellowbeach: I’m totally fine with a 3rd girl, but I’m hoping ours is a boy because everyone in our family would be in such shock too!

So excited here! Finally saw the baby on an ultrasound - measuring perfect size and perfect heartbeat! So no adjusting my due date.

Having NIPT done today so should know in about a week the results. One joy of a MFM team is in two weeks they are also going an NT screening ultrasound in two weeks although they noted nothing concerning seen on the 11 week ultrasound today and they saw the placenta forming which is a good sign.

I’m over the moon since I truly walked into the appointment today expecting the hear the worst.

I admit I was really struggling the last few weeks expecting to get bad news this morning. I know there are many more steps to go before June, but this was a positive forward.

For you ladies with older little ones, how do you manage them without picking them up more than needed? DD weighs 35, maybe closer to 40 lbs and is pretty heavy. She's of course a 2 yo with the obedience of a 2 yo... and sometimes picking her up (to say go upstairs and change a diaper, or get to the car) is necessary. DH said he wants me not to do it, firm. Says his mom had a MC doing the same.

@yellowbeach: My SIL is at high risk for preterm birth and we’ve all been trying to encourage my niece, 2.5 and 32 lbs, to be more independent (her parents, grandparents, me). It’s definitely made a difference. A month ago she wouldn’t go down the stairs alone and now she will. It’s my personal crusade to get her to climb in and out of the car on her own. I would be careful not to frame it as you needing her to do it because you’re pregnant so as not to cause jealousy.

FWIW my DD was about 35 lbs when I was pregnant and I did NOT do a good job of not carrying her around (she was very clingy), but I was totally fine (as in full term pregnancy, DD2 was born on due date). I actually did a ton of lifting in late pregnancy (8 months and later) because we moved houses, and at work we moved offices.

@yellowbeach: I hope my newly 3 year old and 35ish lb son all the time. I carried him all around SeaWorld last weekend. I’m so used to it that I think it’s fine at this point. If it was something new, then it would be an issue. There is literally no way I could not carry him at all. He has sensory issues and gets overwhelmed, I’m not going to let him freak out when I’m totally capable of holding him.

    nectarine / 2648 posts

@Becky @LazB: I also thought he was being a little crazy... like "How in the hell is that practical?" but then he got a little emotional about it and told me about his mom (I hadn't known she'd suffered a loss as DH is 1 of 4 boys). I'll be honest - it's nice to have DH do some of the lifting and nighttime routine now since I've been experiencing so much fatigue in the evenings anyway (that's really my only symptom now)... but I don't want to make him a false promise that I won't lift her.

On another bright note, I took my last dose of estrogen this morning and have my 12 week appointment tomorrow with my RE. If everything looks good, we'll officially graduate! I've ordered a pretty ornate charcuterie board to take along as a thank you gift. For DD, we had custom sugar cookies in the shape of uterus and sperm with the names of the MD, nurses, etc. They were pretty hilarious, but we wanted to do something different this time. I'd be pretty jazzed if I were at work and a huge slab of manchego appeared.

@yellowbeach While the process of trying to give my DS more independence is definitely ongoing, I haven’t been worrying too much about carrying him etc.

Also, amazing call on the charcuterie. Literally cannot picture a better thing to get at work haha

@yellowbeach: it’s not practical for me to not pick up dd - we live in snow country and I often have to lift her over snow banks, into the car, I carry her in the am if I don’t want to put boots on her, and I’m the primary caregiver M-F because dh works longer hours. I also haven’t been advised to do this by my doctor. With all respect to your dh, there was probably a specific medical reason that happened to his mother, that shouldn’t worry most normally developing pregnancies. That said, you can always ask your OB and go by that!

So, big day for us - had our 12 week appointment and graduated from the RE... little man was in there dancing away. Their US machine is so good you could count every rib.

We also made it Facebook official today. It's nice to be out of the closet so to speak. I ordered our Christmas cards last night, but they won't get here for another week, so I'll mail them out then and hit anyone not online.

How's everyone else doing this week?

@yellowbeach: but the real question is how was the charcuterie received??

  35. yellowbeach

    nectarine / 2648 posts

@skiierchck99: omg they were half way through the Brie before the ultrasound was done. They specifically said how much they appreciated something that wasn’t sweets. She put a photo of the tray on the instagram account I linked to above.

@yellowbeach: and now I’m hungry! What a great idea - I dropped off sweets to our nurses after dd was born but I’ll look for this next time

@yellowbeach: What a relief to be out of the woods!

I had an appointment yesterday and heart rate was 160. The old wives tale of HR over 140 being a girl rang true for my first two so now even more I’m expecting a third baby girl! I have my NT Scan next week at 11+6 so maybe I’ll find out then!

I really popped over the weekend and there is definitely no hiding my bump now. I am feeling SO much better (evenings are still somewhat tough) and have started running again, just in time for snowy, icy roads/sidewalks 🤦‍♀️ I’m hoping to get back into doing barre once per week but it’s so expensive. I really want to do more strength training this pregnancy but find it so hard to get motivated to do it alone at home with the random weights be have.

@yellowbeach First off, very much enjoyed that Instagram and was like well...that’s only 3 hours from here haha

This week was a little rough for me. Kids always go a little bananas in the run up to break and I have more kids than usual this year who don’t look forward to time at home which also leads to a lot of unusual behavior that it is hard for me to find energy and patience to support appropriately. But we have some really fun things at school in the next little bit so that’s nice.
It has also been a high anxiety week. My nausea is a finally a little better, but I still really don’t have much of a bump at all and I’m finding it hard not to worry. I have my NT scan on the 17th so I’ll just try to keep busy till then, luckily as we all know there is more than enough holiday shenanigans to help with that!

@becky with my nausea going away I have also been trying to get back to exercise this week (mostly yoga) but motivation is LOW haha

    kiwi / 705 posts

At 10+5 my nausea is still going on but it’s no longer preventing me from eating regular meals. As a result I feel like I totally popped over the last couple of days and I’m excited to have a little bump but also convinced it’s just food and extra weight I’m going to need to lose afterwards. My husband has been getting me a doughnut for breakfast on Saturdays but this morning my 6 year old DD started crying that the baby isn’t going to be healthy because mommy eats doughnuts every day. 😑

I’ve told a lot of people casually (still haven’t told work or long distance friends that I’m hoping to see within the next month) which is earlier then we’ve shared in the past. People knowing is making me both more excited and more nervous. I don’t even know why we shared before the 1st trimester was over, just that it seemed to come up a lot. 😳

@Becky: I am really anxious to get back to working out. I didn’t in my first 2 pregnancies and I’m convinced it made labor so much linger and harder. I had hoped to do barre throughout but it just hasn’t been possible. I’m hoping I’ll be able to pick it up once the nausea and exhaustion die down.

Has everyone had a good weekend? DH had a friend from undergrad in town, so they did their thing. I have been cleaning up around the house and trying to formulate a plan for my closet for how to incorporate maternity clothes.

Home ultrasound today for fun. Still measuring 3 or so days ahead. For some reason HB won’t let me attach a photo today. 🤔
