@codeitall: Oddly enough I had a cat growing up with the same name as my older daughter but I didn’t realize until after we picked it. My BIL is actually named after his family dog which is a little much! Neither ever comes up though so I’m not concerned by DH might be enough to veto it.

@yellowbeach: wow - you’re leaps ahead of me! I’m still so sad about the clothes haha - boys clothes stink.
@JCCovi: I love the name Guinevere! And I think 99% of people would not make that connection at all.
We are struggling with boy names a bit. We’re okay on a number but nothing stands out as the name. Some contenders include Henry, Emory, Teddy (Theodore), Ben (Benjamin), Nick (Nicholas), Owen. We’ve also been joking about baby Jack Jack (from the incredibles) but it’s growing on me. I also really like James/Jamie but that’s ex-bf’s name so that’s out...it’s hard!

@skiierchck99: the cutest little boy I know is a Jack Jack so I’m a fan. Today I threw out Miles and DH paused and said “maybe” which is a big step for us. I like the idea of an English name since DH is a Brit. Usually I throw out a name or vice versa and get a “ick” or “veto.” So a maybe is progress. 🤷♀️

So much happy news on this thread ️ I am getting so anxious for my NT on Tuesday!
@JCCovi I also love Guinevere!

@skiierchck99 @yellowbeach I think at least 2 of us might end up with the same names Jack and Miles are our top contenders now!

@JCCovi: i love the name Guinevere. I know it has some historical connotations but I think of her as a strong noble woman. I’m also biased as my name is a common derivative of that name.
So glad to see all the good news here about our babies and hope it keeps coming!!!!
@yellowbeach: I will admit that we didn’t really celebrate beyond talking about her and hugging a lot. Some of it is because we have a 10 week old puppy at home and I worked all day. I’m hoping maybe we can celebrate early next week when my schedule is a bit lighter.
Now I’m torn on when to tell family. DH says he’s not telling his family until later so it can’t “jinx” the baby. I’ll let him decide when to tell his family. I’m debating telling my dad this weekend as I’m very close to him. Maybe waiting to tell my siblings until around Christmas. I thought about including a copy of the ultrasound from yesterday in their Christmas card and introducing them to the baby that way with a note. But I think I’d rather hear their voices as I tell them.

@yellowbeach I saw on the other thread you passed your boards! That’s so great! Congratulations!

@yellowbeach: I was at Target yesterday and there was so much cute Cloud Nine and Burt’s Bees boys clothing! I wanted to buy alllll the things. I’m trying not to buy any clothes since I’m getting hand me downs so instead I’ve been picking out all the new cloth diaper covers (since a lot of ours were girly and/or worn out).

Is anyone taking advantage of these. Christmas sales and snagging stuff for their little ones? I couldn’t help myself at Target today and got 3 little 6-9 month sets for next winter. Am I being insane or tempting fate?

@yellowbeach: oh man, I wish I could but I tried last time and totally could not predict what size she would be when. Was thinking of looking for some basics that would work for any season but haven’t yet. Then again...I’m also still grumpy about boy clothes, so!

@yellowbeach: I’m restraining myself in hopes that the hand me downs we get will work! I went to a baby shower recently though and it was for a boy and I got so many cute outfits just to get it out of my system!

@yellowbeach: Congrats on passing your boards! That must be such a relief!
@msmilkshake: aww, hi baby! Great news!
Had my 16wk check yesterday. I've been so nervous for it for the last couple of weeks. No sono, just doppler. I recorded baby's heartbeat so that DS could hear it.
We told him Sunday that he would be getting a baby sister in June, and he immediately asked about 2 other girl family friends - like he could pick them! He asks every day if baby is bigger and has tried to see her down my shirt and in my...foot? I can't wait to feel her kick!
I've been having some sciatic pain (joy!) but so far none of the ridiculous tailbone pain that I had with DS (that was as bad as labor). I'm trying to remember to stretch every night so the back pain doesn't get too bad. I'm definitely feeling tightness in my belly, almost sore. It seems to early for all of this pain!

@BUNBUN: So sweet about DS! I am absolutely uncomfortable already and I am only 13 weeks . I actually googled if that was normal yesterday. I’m also still feeling pretty nauseous and couldn’t eat dinner tonight.
My sister brought some clothes to me today and it made it felt even more real that were actually having a boy!

We’ve been a quiet bunch this weekend. I’m assuming everyone is doing family stuff? I’m excited to have just one more shift standing between me and a 5 day Christmas holiday with family.

@yellowbeach: Yes, it’s a crazy busy time! We’ve wrapped up most of our local Christmas activities/visits/chores. Just have a few things to do tomorrow before we hop on a red eye for the opposite coast. I am SO not looking forward to a red eye + connection while still very in the midst of morning sickness! My energy level has come back up almost to normal but I’m getting sick more often, probably because I’m more active.
I’ve told my family I might be a big lump when we arrive Christmas Eve and might not participate in activities Definitely will at least plan to sleep several hours when we first arrive! I feel like I’m being a huge grinch this year because I usually love and look forward to Christmas with my family but it’s just feeling like so much this year. We’re considering skipping next year and spending Christmas at a hotel near skiing. Somewhere the baby and I can have a nice view and room service while everyone else skis. I’m hoping this Christmas goes well enough to change my mind though!

We took what will likely be our last bump pic with my SIL and my husband’s cousin’s wife last night (she’s 34 weeks and went early last time). Baby season is about to begin in my circle—and I’m the last one due!
I’m having mild period-like cramping which I’ve never had during pregnancy and that’s making me nervous. I have an appointment on 1/2 and it seems sooo far away.

@jccovi My cross-country plane flight while pregnant with DS is still referred to as “hurl across America” I hope you are much more successful! I’m missing the West Coast but am really grateful not to be traveling this year.
My parents are here and it is wonderful to have them, but my mom just told me that it seems likely that her cancer is back. Her initial diagnosis was when I was pregnant with my first. She finished chemo before he was born and has been in complete remission since. What showed up on the scan was really small and we won’t have full information until after the holidays, but I’m just feeling so upset and like this has (obviously) thrown the holiday spirit around here out of wack.

@msmilkshake: Ugh what a damper on your holiday. Hoping it’s not what you think!

Thanks, me too. My mom’s an oncologist and my dad’s an ER doc so at least I always feel like I have all the facts. On the bright side, my husband made amazing latkes tonight and I felt much more cheerful.

@msmilkshake: Oh man sorry to hear this news about your mom. Hopefully if it truly is back they can zap it ️with treatment like before and she can sail on in to remission once more. And hurray for ER docs
Wonder if I’ve ever crossed paths with your dad at a conference or something. 🤔

@msmilkshake: I’m so sorry about your mom’s news and hope the info you get after the holidays is good news. It is so helpful to have medical professionals in the family in situations like this.

@yellowbeach You’re adorable! (As is your mustache lol). And you may we’ll have crossed paths with my dad at some point! He’s largely a malaria researcher these days (he did a Doctors Without Borders mission and things took a turn haha) but he’s still around I can’t believe it’s about to be 2020! I’m really enjoying this winter break home with DS...and also realizing that I should probably start planning for the return to school

15 weeks today and here’s my bump shot. She tends to stick out on the right side and I can’t wait for consistent movement!

Has anyone suffered (or is anyone suffering) long headaches in the second trimester? I have had headaches all my life but not migraine level. For the last 48 hours I’ve had a headache that extra strength Tylenol helps but isn’t getting rid of it. That isn’t usual for me (the length) but it could be because Tylenol never works that well for me - I’ve always taken excedrine migraine for my headaches.
I haven’t had a headache the whole time during this pregnancy but was curious if anyone else has one like this or had one in other pregnancies.
nectarine / 2648 posts
@MrsJBeeG: not yet this pregnancy but definitely during my last. I talked with my doctor about it and seems I was a bit dehydrated (trying to avoid peeing nonstop) and was also allowed a small dose of caffeine which I decided to take in the form of coffee.
clementine / 787 posts
@yellowbeach: thanks for sharing your experience. I was wondering if it might be dehydration related - I’m already more susceptible to it due to a health situation years ago. I feel like I drink a lot of water and my urine seems pretty clear but it probably doesn’t hurt to drink some more.
I see my doctor in a few weeks so I’ll ask her. And if I can’t make it that long - I can text her as she gave me her cell number - I just try not to abuse that trust.
Hope everyone is doing well. Excited to hit 15 weeks tomorrow. Praying all the time our little girl is growing well. Still fighting nausea and fatigue at times but pregnancy insomnia is so much improved even with a 12 week old puppy waking me up at night.
pomegranate / 3904 posts
@MrsJBeeG: i’ve been getting more headaches this time around. I don’t think I’m dehydrated because I drink a ton of water, I think it’s just hormonal. Last night I hit my head really hard on the corner of a wall when I was reaching down to get something, my head has been killing me since
clementine / 787 posts
@LAZB: it could be all the hormones. It’s just so hard to know. I’m surviving but the constant low level headache is getting old quickly. Hope your head feels better - hitting it on something is always bad!

I had an appointment this morning at 14+3! No ultrasound but I was relieved to hear that little heartbeat. 150 bpm. I took the kids and they said they had expected it to be more interesting. I have another appointment at the end of the month with a routine ultrasound and then I have my anatomy scan Feb 10th. Expecting those appointments to be more interesting.
nectarine / 2648 posts
I also just had an appointment this morning. Saw my regular (non-MFM) OB since my MFM is on call for L&D and doesn't have clinic these two weeks.
Turns out I was WAY due (maybe 2 years late) for a pap. I sort of lost track of it with all the IVF. They tell you not to mess with the cervix during IVF cycles, so I just pushed it off for 1.5 years... who knew it was going to take that long for our BFP...
It was nice to see her. She happened to be on service during my last pregnancy when I got sick and admitted. She took such good care of me and even had her husband bring their therapy dog to the hospital to visit me.
She dopplered the heartbeat - which I hadn't realized until she did it, was the first time anyone had, and the first time I'd heard it. I've had so many ultrasounds I sort of forgot how nice it is to hear it instead of just see it.
Other than that, I'm just recovering from a 4 day stretch at work including a 16 hour shift yesterday where I diagnosed 4 people with flu and 1 with shingles. Ugh. No way to avoid some of these exposures in pregnancy I guess. Can't say no to seeing these patients. But I will be SO happy when cold and flu season is over and done with.
I'm starting a countdown to our trip to Argentina - just 25 days until we leave!
Did you ladies see that @Marfi got another ? I'm so happy for her. Hoping there's a good pregnancy group for her dates.

I had an appointment yesterday as well (15+1). Very uneventful but met one of the newer midwives at my practice. It was a relief to bear the heartbeat since I haven’t felt real movement yet.
I keep having dreams that I had the baby and am back at work and forget to pump, or do it inconsistently, or forget to refrigerate the milk, or leave the baby without any milk and also forget to pump or leave formula. I’m definitely going to need refreshers on childbirth, newborn sleep, and feeding newborns—I feel like I’ve forgotten everything!
