    My anatomy scan was normal and their call of a boy at 12 weeks was accurate—still a boy!

    At the doctor today for 22 week routine checkup and I had protein in my urine and bp was a bit elevated. I do get white coat syndrome and it came down a bit but I’m currently waiting to do a repeat urine test and had to do all kinds of bloodwork. Not the visit I hoped to have and not excited to add potentially another pregnancy complication to the mix on top of the placenta praevia. Having a bit of a woe is me moment over here

    @skiierchck99: Sorry to hear that Hopefully, it won't be a big deal but I hope you had some time today to think it over and maybe have a doughnut.

    @JCCovi: funny enough, I did have a doughnut today 😂. So far additional testing looks normal and I was probably just dehydrated this morning, which is good news. I have a bp check in two weeks but if that goes better they will assume it was just a one-off.

    @skiierchck99: So hoping this was just a one off. Do they want you to check your blood pressures at home?

  9. skiierchck99

    kiwi / 518 posts

    @yellowbeach: yes - I already have a cuff actually because I do historically get white coat syndrome. They’re going to check it when I go back in 2 weeks to make sure it me readings align with theirs but if it does I’ve been totally fine at home!

    I had my 18 week check up this morning. Everything looks good but they were only planning to check the heartbeat. I convinced the midwife to take a quick peak on ultrasound so I got to see the baby for the first time since 8 weeks. It wasn't very clear so definitely no hints about the gender, I'll have to wait until the anatomy scan on 2/10.

    @Mrs. Chocolate: Excited to see you back! Your kids look so big now! I’m one of 4 with 9 years between the oldest and youngest and it was great! I think my 3 will also be similar in age to your 4 this summer (almost 7, 5.5, 0).

    @msmilkshake: 2/10 anatomy scan twins Seems so far away but I know it’s going to come quick. I also have a trip (business) between now and then. Really not looking forward to flying because Christmas was such a disaster. Realistically I know I’m in a totally different place symptom-wise. Good luck with your little!

    @msmilkshake: Good luck!
    @Mrs. Chocolate: Welcome! So glad you joined the board!

    Sorry I've been MIA. The last 3 weeks of work have been insane and I've also been trying to get an appointment with an MFM specialist to check on baby's kidney. But they claim they never got any of the 4!! referrals sent by my OB and I finally had to drive from one office to the other to hand deliver it. The receptionist said "oh, I remember you, the hyphenated name" and I wanted to scream "IS THAT WHY YOU LOST ALL 4 REFERRALS??" At this point, the doc had better be great, because I'm not too confident about their front office staff

    @Mrs. Chocolate: Welcome and congrats!

    I’m seeing a clear pattern in genders so I’m going to predict girls for JCCOVI and CodeitAll and a boy for Cram88!

    Has anyone had siblings in the delivery room? My older DD will be 6.5 and wants to come in. There would of course be other adults (my mom, DH, and maybe my dad will come) there who would be able to wait in the waiting room with her, or even take her home/to the playground if things take a while.

  29. JCCovi

    kiwi / 705 posts

    @Becky: A lot of people are predicting girl for us! You might be right 😊

    I’m actually having recurring nightmares about childcare falling through and having to have my kids in the delivery room. My big concern is that I don’t want to have to be brave for anyone and I worry if my kids (5 and 6) are there then I’ll have to put on a big show for them instead of just feeling what I feel. I tend to have long labors (40 and 20 hours) though so it’s pretty unlikely they won’t get picked up, even if I end up taking them with me.

    Thanks all! Sadly it is not direct, but I’m hoping the fact that it’s the evening means I’ll at least get some sleepy child time. Welcome Mrs. Chocolate!

    @Becky: I don’t think our hospital allows children in L&D because of germs - you may want to check!

    Hello! I also joined because of the comment on Mrs Chocolate's post! Anyone know if there is an August 2020 board? Or can I just join you all here? I'm due Aug 6 with baby #2!

    @Mrs. Chocolate: Welcome! Yes the July board never appeared, but that's probably good considering how small it would be compared to June!

    @BUNBUN: That's terrible about the referrals! My son appeared to have kidney problems on the ultrasound and when we took him in for an ultrasound at 2 weeks it was just fine despite all my worrying.

    @Becky: I'm honestly leaning girl with the terrible morning sickness I had, but we're still team green!

    @JCCovi: I tried to hold out long enough so DS could go to daycare with my 2nd and ended up waking up a relative across town to watch him. I got to the hospital at an 8 so it is good I didn't wait longer. Winter policies at the hospital here are no kids, but summer is less germy so you may be fine. Definitely check with the hospital so you have a plan C and hope plans A/B work out instead.

    @JCCovi: Sorry I missed your comment somehow. Thank you for sharing about your experience. I admit the gap is a little daunting for me mentally right now so Im glad to hear about other people who have experienced it. Mine will be newly 10, newly 7 and almost 5 when this one arrives. I feel like its almost like raising 2 different sets of kids in some sense but 3 have each other and one is left by themselves. All 3 of my older ones will go to full time school in Sept so I will have baby all alone for the first time since my 1st which is great and also weird too. I hope I can give them all the attention they need somehow

    @msmilkshake: Thank you!

    @codeitall: Yes it seems that way. Maybe more people will come back as Hellobee goes through its mini Renaissance and the groups will grow again but for now Im excited to be part of this group!

  36. JCCovi

    @codeitall: I will definitely have A, B, C, and D plans that don’t involve taking the kids! If they end up coming with me it will be the kind of situation where no matter what the hospital’s policy is... they are there. And the hospital will have to choose between letting them in and making me give birth on the sidewalk outside. Lol. I don’t even know why I’m worried about it but I just keep thinking ‘what if’. I think part of it is this is the first time we haven’t lived near family. My mom is flying out but probably only a couple days before the due date and my last baby was 8 days early. So we’ll have a call list of friends to watch them and I’d probably chose to have my husband miss the birth (even though that sounds terrible) then bring my big kids.

    @MountainBaby: Sure feel free to join us - you never know if an Aug board will surface or not.

    @JCCovi: out of curiosity what type of friends/family are on your call list? I’m starting to stress about this too. Most of my closest friends are also working doctor moms who have barely any scheduling flexibility. My mom and MIL live 2 hours away which is doable, but I worry about those first few hours. It feels like a big ask to me - but maybe it’s one of those things many would be happy to help with?

    So for those with childcare issues who are nervous about kids in the room this might be a little much for some of you but I’ve been listening to The Birth Hour podcast and my girls love listening! Especially the 6 year old—she asks to listen. I rewatched The Business of Being Born recently and they were super into the birth scenes. We also have two very close friends/family members having repeat c sections so there are lots of questions about why and how, and the ways we need to be more gentle with them and help them out more after they have the baby. We were thinking of a homebirth for a bit and our 6 year old was really disappointed when she found out we would be at the hospital instead because she didn’t want to miss the birth, so I’m going to try to make it happen to at least have her there for parts. We have a ton of family around though so it’s a very different situation than most.

    @yellowbeach: I’ll chime in! My brother is an hour away and my mom is about 2. I have a neighbor on call for emergencies but if I have an emergency bleed and need to go to the hospital it’s pretty likely my 2 yo will need to come until one of them could get to us. I also have a moms group I’m pretty sure I could message but because dog the previa it’s likely to be more emergent than say early labor I’m sure we will make it work somehow though!
