@MrsJBeeG: Seraphine has made both of my favorite maternity/nursing dresses. I bought them from their website directly, but select styles are also sold at Motherhood or Pea in the Pod Maternity. They wash beautifully, hold their shape (with nursing, and all of the pulling and pushing out of the way) and are so, so comfortable.

On my way home from the hospital, I opted for a maxi skirt and maternity tank top, because I knew it would be super easy to put on, regardless of how I felt. I changed into a nursing shirt and pj pants at home!

ETA: another fave of mine is figure8moms.com

Just pulled the trigger on an infant car seat and stroller system. Just had too many dreams of her coming early and not having those items that I decided it was time for my own peace of mind.

Hey ladies - been thinking about you all. The board has been a little quiet with all the Coronavirus stuff.

I’ve been busy nesting on my days off. I’m 95% finished with DD’s new big girl room which is also half our home office. Just need one more piece of a PBK storage system and then I’ll post some pics.

As for the nursery, we are getting there, probably about 85% done. Have all the furniture (repurposing everything from DD) but need to finish some art projects.

I oscillate between feeling rushed to finish since DD came at 32w3d and today I’m 31w2d, and not feeling rushed at all.

On a bright note - we also finally settled on a name - Oliver “Ollie” Bennett L_____.

Where are you ladies with things?

@yellowbeach: So jealous - I’m 34 weeks and just starting the nursery and moving our office haha, and I only have till 38 to get it done! Trying to do a lot this weekend!

I found out yesterday that dh and I will be tested at intake which is good I suppose but nerve wracking at the same time. Our exposure is negligible - the only thing we have been doing in public is taking walks and are very vigilant about remaining away from people.

I’m looking for a new diaper bag - anyone have recommendations?

@yellowbeach: Sounds like you're in a good place! I'm jealous that you've landed on a name, DH doesn't seem motivated at all to narrow it down! We have it down to 3 so theoretically, we'd probably be fine going to the hospital and deciding but with our first 2 we decided in advance and I worry about either making a very hormonal/emotional decision and then regretting it or fighting about it in the hospital when we should be celebrating.

We are still shelter-in-place on the other side of the country from our home. For anyone who missed it, we left California the weekend before shelter-in-place came down and drove to our family's vacation home in the rural Virginia mountains. I have gotten set up with a practice here so I am set if I need to deliver here but insurance is up in the air and all my baby stuff is in CA... We are having some clothes and cloth diapers delivered here but I already have everything I need in CA so I'm hesitant to purchase too much! I also think I can borrow some things from friends in Raleigh if necessary and my parents can bring them up.

We have decided that I won't be traveling in June so wherever I am June 1 is where I'll be for the rest of the summer. We think we will return if by end-of-May it looks like (1) summer camps will be open and (2) DH will be expected back at work. If we don't think summer camps will be open DH will have a conversation at work (which we think will result with them being fine with him working remote until August).

Despite a lot of uncertainty, we are all doing great! Working and schooling remote is going as well as can be expected and we are spending hours outside playing in the beautiful mountain air. It's very remote here (45 minutes to nearest grocery store) so we are used to being isolated whenever we are here. I am heavily leaning towards giving our baby the middle name "Virginia" as a reminder of this time. It's not a name I would have been drawn to previously but it's sounding pretty perfect right now!

@JCCovi: As a Virginian born and raised, I love that idea. ❤️ And kudos to you for taking everything in stride. I’m quite sure I’d be much more out of sorts if displaced on the opposite side of the country. 😉

@skiierchck99: I second the Dagne Dover Wade Diaper Bag. I got it because I’ve used a Dagne Dover work bag for years now and it still looks brand new and I love all the organization built right into it.

@MrsJBeeG: I’ve heard about those! Am I remembering that I should look for a referral code if I go that route?

Forgot to say above that I made the decision to take PTO for the last week before my c-section...with the way life is right now nothing was getting done so this at least will let me clean and get all the laundry done and maybe even freeze a couple of meals!

@JCCovi: I’m glad to hear you found a practice at least! I love the idea of the middle name Virginia too. My current delivery plans hinge on my mom being able to come out in two weeks but that all hingnes in our school closure getting extended...trying to take it one day at a time and know I will figure it out if plans change.

@skiierchck99: you might be able to get one. I’ll check if I can send you one since I joined their mailing list years ago - if I can I’ll post it on this hoard. My MIL bought me this diaper bag as a gift and she signed up for their email list to save 10%.

    https://share.dagnedover.com/x/CV7DRU

So here’s a referral link. But you definitely don’t have to use it. It saves you 10% but I don’t know if that could be added to the other 10% if you sign up for their emails if you decide to get the Wade diaper bag. But it would be awesome to save 20% off. I don’t plan on buying a new Dagne Dover bag anytime soon so I wouldn’t use the $25 off to be honest.

@JCCovi: I love the idea of the middle name Virginia! I think you made such a wise choice leaving CA to go there. We are doing really well all things considered, but I can’t imagine if we didn’t have our spacious yard and walkable streets. I have become SO grateful for our house. It’s nothing fancy but we have a good amount of room.

I’m getting stressed about how big I am. I’ve gained weight all over and am guessing I’ll gain closer to 40 than my usual 30, but my belly is shockingly big this time and I have 9.5 weeks to go. I’ve already decided to really push the home induction techniques at 38 weeks, and mentioned to my husband I honestly wouldn’t be against hospital induction this time. His response “Well I would.” Ha! My first induction was SO intense. The last thing I remember before blacking our for about 40 minutes was how terrified he looked.

So grateful to be working from home right now. Although if we do go back my coworkers are going to be shocked because I’m so much bigger than last time.

I’ve gotten to meet my 1.5 week old niece through the car window and it is so hard. I really hope things slow down soon but we’re still going up in hospitalizations and deaths in my county—I’m guessing we’re about 2 weeks behind NYC.

    Hi everyone,
I'm fine, but I'm realizing that I'm not really fine. I'm finding it close to impossible to concentrate on anything, which makes work super frustrating!
Baby's dilated renal pelvis is getting bigger (not unexpected, since she is also growing), but it's definitely in the range that makes surgery post-birth more likely. My OB wants to see me weekly, and my MFM moved my appointment from last week up to this morning to take a closer look. My MFM has been adamant about not having unnecessary folks in the office, so his moving my appointment up a week shook me. Right now, it's bigger, but the other kidney is fine, amniotic fluid is fine, stomach and bladder are fine, but he wants to see me again in 4 weeks and is referring me to a pediatric urologist (hopefully for a "what to expect after birth" chat) this week.
I've done enough research on my own and I trust my MFM enough to know that there is nothing to be done now, and everything looks fine for a normal birth. It's the irrational side of my brain that can't stop thinking that I'm going to deliver early, that she might have problems after birth, that I'm going to need an emergency c-section and won't be ready and yadda yadda...
My MIL has terrible anxiety, so we haven't mentioned this to her or my parents. I've told her that the extra appointments are just precautionary due to my age.
I don't know if my OB will want to induce me at 39 weeks (fine with me) or what, but BOY do I have a lot to do before then!
The worst part is, I have no real stress-relief outlet. Allergies are so horrible right now that a walk outside makes me miserable. Trying to do indoor exercise is exhausting and seems to make me more sore than happy. Baking in our tile floored kitchen is hell on my back and my father in law ate all of the ice cream. (and I don't want to risk sending DH out for a grocery run for just ice cream) I don't really have the energy to nest or organize (which is usually my favorite thing) and there is so much hanging over my head that I NEED to do before she arrives that I can't seem to enjoy the fun things anyway. I wish I could start handing off work projects early to give myself a break, but I don't have the PTO for that. I barely have enough for 8 weeks maternity leave.

Sorry for the rant. I guess I really needed to vent. Thanks for reading all of this!

  18. MrsJBeeG

    clementine / 787 posts

@BUNBUN: vent away! Seriously, this is so a weird time with some many adjustments in addition to being pregnant and dealing with uncertain news on your beautiful baby and what happens after birth.

I use this forum to vent when I know my DH and family doesn’t want to hear about it - it helps me just to express those feelings and know someone can relate.

I did chuckle at the no ice cream because your FIL ate it all. I could see that frustrating me. My DH did something similar a few weeks ago but he was out for a store run and did pick me up some DQ dilly bars (my favorite ice cream treats) so I forgave him.

As to getting things done for your baby - it will happen. I’m sure you’ll get a moment when it feels like it’s time and you’ll knock it out. Until then, I hope you don’t beat yourself up!

  19. skiierchck99

    kiwi / 518 posts

@BUNBUN: hugs it’s all so shitty and to be dealing with complications on top of it is the worst (though I randomly have almost stopped worrying about my complication thanks to worrying about giving birth in the time of covid lol)

At the moment I can’t remember if this is your first but even though it feels like it, so little of it “needs” to be done right now. My goals in the next 4 weeks are basically wash baby’s clothes, organize them, and get the bassinet set. If I paint the nursery etc that would be a bonus but I’m not stressing, especially given the world right now. You’ll get there!

    apricot / 430 posts

    @MrsJBeeG: @skiierchck99: Thank you both!

You're absolutely right, it will get done eventually. This is my second, so I'm not sweating about much for her (although I do need to get new nipples for her bottles and replacement breast pump parts, and I'm pretty sure I was using the wrong flange size with DS).
It's the life stuff that's got me frozen. I have a bunch of work I need to get done, a spreadsheet of my projects ready to hand over to my boss, fill out the short term disability paperwork (and pressure our HR guy about whether the maternity leave policy changed or not), contact a new pediatrician's office (DS's ped retired and I want to switch practices), and TAXES. How I dread that process! We bought and sold a house this year and the receipts from repairs and associated costs are going to be a PITA to track down!

At this point, DH won't be able to leave the hospital once I arrive, so we have to be more thoughtful about what he brings. Last time was so quick, I was out in less than 48 hours and the hospital is super close to home so he went home and showered and napped for a bit and brought back food! And I want to be sure to pack him (and me) in either machine washable bags or ones that can be sprayed down with bleach/lysol after we get home. I'm afraid I might end up walking in with 5 reusable grocery store bags and a giant ikea bag, dropping stuff left and right, haha!!

We do have a phone consult with the pediatric urologist tomorrow AM, so hopefully I'll have a better idea of what to expect with respect to appointments those first few weeks. I have (had) congenital hip dysplasia as well (corrected with a brace at birth), so I'll need to consider the appointments for that as well. I don't want to make more hospital appointments than absolutely necessary, but I don't want to delay care that could make a greater impact with early intervention either.

@BUNBUN: Oh gosh, I hope it all turns out okay. Would surgery be right away post birth?

Yesterday was so hard (4 y/o’s bday, lots of work stuff, kids constantly arguing) and I was the most uncomfortable I have been this far when I went to bed. Meanwhile, I got married when I was further along than this (34.5 weeks along), danced until midnight, stayed up for the campfire, and was fine. It’s crazy the difference 6.5 years, 2 kids, a lot less exercise, and the absolute insanity of working and parenting during COVID-19 makes. I can’t wait to not have to juggle work in here, and instead be juggling a baby with the big kids.

Also thanks for the reminders about needing to get started on setting up my leave. Ugh. I hate that part and need to stop putting it off.

@JCCovi: I've been watching video after video of the willow pump trying to justify the price! The fact that you can pump lying down (with the bags) really has me. Mommy Shark has some great breakdowns and comparisons.
I think I'm going to start with replacing my old pump parts for my spectra 2 and decide whether I want to pull the trigger on the Willow 3 after DD arrives

@yellowbeach: I love the exposed brick!

Went to assemble the crib today and discovered we can’t find the screws anywhere. It was in kind of bad shape anyway so maybe for the better. I bought an inexpensive crib off Amazon and once that arrives we’ll start putting the room together! I have several things I have to wait until my end of May sprinkle to get so it’ll be another month or so.

I was so paranoid once I knew I was pregnant that the baby would be breech and thus far he is 😭 32 weeks Wednesday so I’m starting some spinning babies stuff. I have a huge amount of room in my stomach though so I’ll also ask my midwife at my appointment tomorrow how much of a difference she thinks it will make. Anyone else have their baby settle down after this point? 32 weeks is kind of when they expect the baby to be head down but I know there’s still some time.

  33. yellowbeach

@Becky: I’m still breech as of two weeks ago as well. I’m nervous to ultrasound myself again because I’m afraid he’s still the same. I really really don’t want a CS. I’d definitely opt for a version if offered.

Oh my goodness, so much to catch up on!

@JCCovi: What a story to tell your baby though, I love using the middle name to tie in! I have heard of some daycares/preschools opening up in the Bay Area in May, so it is a remote possibility summer camps could be in session.

@Becky: I too feel big! My sister in law is due two weeks before me and I feel bigger than her! But I passed my glucose test no problem, so whatever. I've been making healthy veggie/banana muffins for the kids and that makes me feel better about snacking.

@BUNBUN: Something I tried to reduce my anxiety is meditation before bed. Peloton has lots of them and they're doing a 90 days free thing now. Somehow just listening to someone talk calmly and positively makes me feel better. Work is always hard to focus on towards the end, but I think it is extra bad now, so don't feel bad, you're not alone!

@Becky: Completely agree, I know my 3rd pregnancy likely would have been tougher in normal times, but during covid, it really sucks. I'm exhausted from having my kids around all the time and working from home, and I'm actually not sure about looking forward to maternity leave since the kids will be home with me all the time then too!

@yellowbeach: Those rooms look amazing! I love the sign, and I can't believe how much you managed to have functionally in one room!

Life's been extra crazy for us. Our landlord told us he wanted to sell the house we've been planning on staying in for a couple more years, so that was cool. Technically we'd have 30 days from the signed contract, but there is now way I'm up for keeping the house clean with everyone home, extra visitors for showings, and WFH full time. I also don't want to move with a newborn or close to my due date obviously. So we toured three places the next day, signed a new lease 5 days later and are one week from moving 25 minutes away!

Ironically the new place would give us a 15 min walking commute or 5 min drive if we were commuting, so when things go back, we'll have one big perk!

But now I have to figure out daycare, school registration, and of course MOVING all over again. So much to box up and arranging our help moving during social distancing sucks.

Baby seems fine and honestly at the bottom of my stress list right now. We put together the crib the day before my landlord broke the news, so now I have to take it back down...

I'm really struggling with putting in the mental effort of picking names. I know I still have about 8 weeks, but time is ticking away! Anyone else not have their names yet?

  37. yellowbeach

    nectarine / 2648 posts

@codeitall: Ugh a move sounds like the opposite of nesting (at least initially). I'm glad you were able to find a place you guys like though and not too far away. I'd say you have plenty more time with the name stuff. Are you and DH actively researching or casually waiting to run across something that catches you?

  39. codeitall

    clementine / 874 posts

@yellowbeach: I would say I'm actually actively not researching... DH keeps trying to run through lists/apps with me and I get maybe 10 names in and I'm done. I'm just decisioned out these days. We even pulled out our lists from previous kids and only half of those made the cut because they've become so popular I don't like them anymore haha
