@nej618: good luck! I went through an induction/eventual c-section, but my OB let me labor for a crazy long time and the section was more necessary than we thought (kid never made it past the pelvic brim). I know it is not what you want, but the c-section was the easiest part of my whole experience. But rest assured that my problem (or rather, reason for c-section) is not common. Most ladies have plenty of room. I just make a great baby jail.

In non-pregnancy related news, I have a job for next school year! My school district's budget passed last night. Thank goodness! Now I'm more than ready for you, baby!!

@swedishfish: yay!! I bet that's a relief! Now you just need that baby! I've Been waiting for a job in my district and of course when I have a baby, it opens up. Funny how that works.... If I get it, I'll have to do daycare like many other working women and if not, I'll get to stay home with my baby....so we'll see... Back to baby news!! No news from me....feeling the same! Went and had Mexican food last night and the only thing it gave was severe heartburn....

@jh524: oohhh, I hope you get the job! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

My NP told me on Monday that a woman who was overdue drank castor oil last week to attempt to start labor. Yuck!

@swedishfish: That's awesome. But also crazy to me that you guys have to be in that kind of limbo. Seriously, this country puts its emphasis on the wrong professions...

@jh524: Mexican did nothing for me. I spent most of the night watching my poor hubs having contractions, lol!

@Espion: It was the first time in my seven years that I've been up on the chopping block. Some people seem to be up for excessing every year so I do feel lucky in that regard but we definitely emphasize the wrong professions in the US.

It's a problem in NY state now because the governor instituted a 2% tax cap on school budgets. If a district wants to pierce the tax cap, they need to get a supermajority - 60% of votes have to be yes. My district tried to pierce the cap the first time around and got 54% yes so it failed. They came in just under the tax cap this time and got almost 70% yes.

So, after strong contractions kicked in around 10:30 last night, I spent the hours of 3 to 6 am this morning in triage at hospital, where said contractions completely disappeared. They sent me home in tears, hubby was also crank-tastic and overly tired. Made it home around 7:30 and I fell asleep on couch.

Woke up at noon to my water breaking. Have been leaking for a couple of hours now. Wow, it's a lot of fluid. Doc says it's all good and to hang out at home as long as I want.

Babies are mysterious, aren't they?! Guess she decided enough was enough. I am laboring at home for as long as possible and we'll head into hospital later. Contrax are tolerable right now so I'll take what I can get at home where I'm comfy.

@swedishfish: lol, yes but you won't be here for long! We have that full moon on Sunday, we'll see if that puts either of us in labor. I'm starting to get the phone calls and suggestions from others on how to get things going!!

This was sent to me from my sister... Lol

@jh524: haha, I like how the baby is spinning through the cervix to be delivered. That looks easy!

My MIL has been calling at least once a day for a few weeks now. She just called before and said she feels bad for me because she never went overdue so she doesn't know how it feels.

  16. tinypiglet

okay, seriously, the amount of fluid is insane. it's like turning on a faucet every time I stand up. unreal. i suggest adding a bath towel (or two!) to your hospital bag.

  17. swedishfish

    GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts

@tinypiglet: haha, there's a visual for you! You should just hang out with a towel underneath you and save your clothes right now.

    @tinypiglet: Yay!! Baby time!

My water broke on its own in the hospital right after I got my epidural and it was the craziest sensation!

that is exactly what i'm doing. sitting on my bed at home with a bath towel wadded up beneath me. even hubby was amazed.

@tinypiglet: how are your contractions? Still manageable?

  21. tinypiglet

    cherry / 184 posts

@swedishfish: yes, manageable. around 5 mins apart, and mild to medium i'd say.

    @espion: yay!

@jh524: thanks! am too excited to rest...but will try!

  22. swedishfish

@tinypiglet: I'm glad you've been able to labor at home for so long. Heading to the hospital soon?

  23. tinypiglet

    cherry / 184 posts

Triage at the hospital is the worst, so I think we will stick it out at home a while longer yet. Really feeling okay for now so why not? I am guessing things will change in the next couple of hours.

@tinypiglet: good luck! You're doing so well - I'm impressed. I hope I can labor at home like you are.

@tinypiglet: yay!!!! Your gonna have your baby soon!!!!!
What kind of things are you doing to pass the time while you labor at home? I'm hoping to be able to do the same. I want as little stay at the hospital as possible.

@swedishfish: when anyone says "I feel bad for you" then they just need to shush it up because that doesn't make you feel any better. Ha! Do you have an appt tomorrow too?

P.s. my tummy feels huge, like it could burst at the seems at any given moment and this watermelon I'm shoveling in isn't helping

@tinypiglet: Sounds like you are doing great and you are right about triage. I think we went in when I was 3-4 minutes apart lasting close to one minute each. And I had to stop what I was doing when I had a contraction. We are 10 minutes from the hospital, but this got me there not too early and not too late.

  27. tinypiglet

    cherry / 184 posts

Things are getting more intense; we've called a car for the hospital. With luck we'll be there in 30-45 mins. (We do not live close to the hospital!)

@jh524: I was just emailing and chatting with friends earlier all afternoon while sitting on a towel marveling at the fluid flow. Now walking around adn having to stop and sway/moan/breathe with each contraction, coming about 3-4 mins apart. Just trust yourself; you'll know when you need to get moving.

Also - the shower is a godsend. I will definitely be using water at the hospital in some form or fashion.

Will check in with you all later!

@swedishfish: oh wow!! How exciting!! Are you feeling good about the induction on Monday? Are you trying just sbout anything at this point to bring on labor?!!! I think all the old wives tales and info. on the internet can just about make a preggo go crazy. I say, Try to relax, get lots of rest and it'll happen if its suppose to. If not, induction time...Lol. Yes,, i have my appt. tomorrow morning.

  32. swedishfish

    GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts

@jh524: I was so hopeful that my 10-15 minute apart contractions yesterday were the real deal but they weren't. I have an exercise ball so maybe I'll bounce on that a bit today. I'll walk for my two miles as usual but that hasn't done anything so far.

What time is your appointment? Good luck!!

  33. jh524

    pear / 1632 posts

@swedishfish: bounce away!! I didn't get to walk yesterday because we had thunderstorms and rain all day and supposedly for the next couple days. I really hope something happens for you.....but i bet by Sunday your in labor! My appt in at 930 (Mt) this morning and my feet are really swollen, the doc. Won't be happy w me.

  34. swedishfish

    GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts

@jh524: I walked and vacuumed. Now I need a break, ha! I really should brush the dog.

Don't worry about the doctor. My fingers and ankles are swollen. Have you elevated your feet? Relax and watch some TV before your appointment!

@jh524: how did your appointment go?

  36. jh524

    pear / 1632 posts

@swedishfish: My dr. was concerned about the swelling again so I had to go get some blood work and a non- stress test. It was a long process but it made me feel better getting checked out. Everything came back great and baby is as happy as a clam. Not dilated, 60 % effaced so I really don't have any idea when labor will be knocking on my door. I don't really like not knowing and as teachers were natural planners. I want to plan, I want to know details!!!! ahhhh!!!!!

  37. swedishfish

    GOLD / coconut / 8266 posts

@jh524: hey the dilation and effacement really don't mean anything - case in point, me! You could all of a sudden go tonight. But I understand what you mean... I love a good plan! So glad everything's ok with the baby!

  38. swedishfish
