@knittylady: I have been taking photos for a few weeks just so I can see the progression, but I wouldn't say they are bump-worthy yet. Maybe by Christmas?
pear / 1563 posts
@LazyLightning: I'm June 1 also! 13 weeks sounds so far along to me now, I can't believe it.
@dcrumlish29: The others got the stats right but I will say that even at 13w2d I am still thinking about this! We had a great NT scan, but now that I am telling people, and work today (maybe, eek!) I keep worrying that something will be wrong at my 16w appointment. I am sure you are in great shape though! And I try to remind myself of the odds.
@knittylady: I am definitely a bit larger right now, but I don't have a "bump," other than the fat that is being pushed up and out! Is that an early bump, hahaha... I suspect in 3-4 weeks I might have something picture worthy for posting. Right now it is the kind of thing that I think only I notice.

Thanks ladies! It's reassuring and obviously we have no control over things going wrong.
@Revel, I'm in the same boat as you. I'm telling work on Wednesday. I'll be 11 weeks then, which is earlier than I wanted to tell work, but when I'm 12 weeks, we'll be at a very busy time and I don't want to add to stress, plus I have 2 appts the following week and want to give them a heads up. So 11 weeks it is! I'm a nervous wreck!
My symptoms are starting to fade, which is obviously a great thing since I've been nauseous for the past 4/5 weeks. However, it doesn't help my worrying, the decrease in symptoms makes me think somethings wrong! I wish I owned my own U/S machine

Ugh. Results of the NT scan are back. Trisomy 13 & 18: less than 1/10,000 chance. Downs, she said 'borderline high risk' at 1/250, and they recommend further testing. I'm waiting for them to call me back with an appointment time now. Feel sick.
pear / 1563 posts
@LazyLightning: So sorry to hear this news. The unknown is the scariest part of the NT scan, or at least it was for me. Fingers crossed for a swift callback and good results if you go forward with more tests. Remember the odds still heavily favor a healthy baby at 1/250.
@dcrumlish29: I may chicken out about telling my boss today - totally terrified but I want to get it over with.

@lazylightning
I'm sure its nothing, but I hate the worry they put you through. I have my NT scan on Thursday. Excited and nervous though.
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
@LazyLightning: I'm so sorry the results are borderline high but remember 1/250 is .4%! Half of one percent. Most likely everything is totally fine for your LO. Did they do the blood protein test when they did the scan? They should be able to get markers from that too..

Been waiting for hours for the office to call me back and let me know what the next step is. (More testing, but which one?? When?) I'm anxious like crazy.

@LazyLightning: So sorry - do they not realize there are enough things already making us anxious/worried. Keep us updated.
@revel: Did you let them know at work?
pear / 1563 posts
@tlcbaby: I did! I almost waited until tomorrow but I'm glad I told today. I told my main boss and he was very cool about it - excited, listened to my plan for maternity leave, and seemed very relieved that I said I would be coming back to work. I work for a small company so we are not covered by FMLA and don't have a formal maternity leave policy, but he said he would discuss with the others and we would put something together. Overall it went very well. I will tell everyone else at one of our group meetings this week, but this was the scary part!

@dcrumlish29: I'm right there with you on wishing I had my own ultrasound machine! 9 more days until my NT scan, but right now it seems like forever.
@LazyLightning: Wishing you lots of luck for your next test. I hope you get good news soon.
How is everyone's energy level lately? I keep thinking I'll stop feeling so tired soon, but at 11w4d, I'm starting to worry that I'll be exhausted all the way until June!
nectarine / 2750 posts
@Revel: That is great - I bet that is such a relief!
@dewdrop: I am 13 weeks tomorrow and my energy is still DRAGGING! I can't sleep well at night so I don't see how I will ever have any energy unless I can figure out a way to get some more sleep.

Hey ladies! I had my first sonogram today and baby is healthy with a strong heartbeat. =)
However, my last period was 9.5 weeks ago but the baby only measured 7.5 weeks, so I have to go for a better ultrasound. My doctor said she wasn't worried and that it was probably just a bad angle. Has this happened to anyone else?
pear / 1986 posts
@rahlyrah: Great news and congrats! Yes, this happened to me as well. My first u/s at 6w6d the baby was measuring about a week+ small. But two weeks (8w6d) and a much better u/s later, we were right on track. It is so tough to measure early on.
pear / 1986 posts
@rahlyrah: The difference in the quality of the two u/s was actually pretty amazing. I'm sure your second one will be just fine!

Just wanted to pop in and say hi to you ladies as I'm a June 2012 mommy! My LO was born on 6/16. I remember this time last year and how much fun it was to tell everyone during the holiday season Good luck with the rest of your pregnancies, June will be here so fast!!!

@littlecasita1122: Thanks! It is such an exciting time for us ladies!! We told both sets of parents over Thanksgiving and my sister "knew." She sniffed it out and I had to spill the beans. Otherwise, were gonna suprise the rest of the family and friends at Christmas. So exciting!!!!!!!!!!!!
Any good ideas on a Christmas suprise to share the news?
persimmon / 1026 posts
@JH524 - I designed a Christmas Card and used that to announce on Facebook and then printed it out to send to close family and friends who already knew. Not sure if this will come out ok, but here's the pic.
pea / 24 posts
@tlcbaby: Noooooo, don't tell me that! But if you find a sleep solution, please let me know.
@littlecasita1122: What a cute announcement!

@littlecasita1122: What a cute announcement!
@dewdrop: I just can't get comfortable. By the end of the day I feel really bloated and have some indigestion so I can't get comfortable and fall asleep. Then I get up to pee so much that I feel like I am never getting much sleep. Maybe it will get better, I am still hopeful.

@knittylady: Thanks! Definitely feels like a milestone. Now I am just ready for my next appt. to check in on everything, but it is still two weeks away.
pear / 1563 posts
@tlcbaby: Feel right there with you on the waiting now! 13 weeks have come and gone and now it's just weeks until an appointment.
Feeling totally fried today - SO and I are in the process of buying a home and are taking care of all the mortgage and inspection odds and ends and I had a total uncalled for meltdown at him and now feeling pretty crappy We're both stressed out but I just feel like I should be handling it better. Sigh.
nectarine / 2750 posts
@Revel: It is to be expected that your emotions are a bit out of control right now. Just apologize to him and explain how stressful it has been. I am sure he will understand. That is a lot to be going through on top of being pregnant!
I can tell my husband is being sweet and biting his tongue when I get a little moody with him.
pear / 1563 posts
@tlcbaby: Thanks. I did apologize and it's fine - he even said he didn't realize I was feeling overwhelmed so he understood. I'm usually the total type-A one of us so sometimes it's hard to ask for help.
Good thing about today is how excited several of my coworkers are about my news! It's so weird to be totally out of the closet. Next and final step.... facebook, hahaha.

@tlcbaby: have you tried unisom sleep tabs (not the gels--different active ingredient). They're listed as a class B, but the active ingredient is the same as the old class A nausea drug "diclectin". I take them from time to time when i'm particularly sick feeling and know i won't sleep well.

I have had one hell of a day in pregnant lady land. I will try to give a short version...
I mentioned the other day that my downs risk came back borderline high risk. So I wanted more tests, and the out of town hospital recommended i call and schedule some. I had to do it through my local hospital though (they had to refer me).
5 pm last night: nurse at local hospital calls, tells me i have an ultrasound scheduled at out of town hospital in 3 weeks. I ask what test is being done, she does not know.
Of course it's 5 so i can't call the out of town hospital to ask.
8:15 this morning: I call the out of town hospital and find out that it is JUST AN ULTRASOUND. They are going to do a 'second opinion' of the NT scan, to see what they think and if i need more tests. They want to do this on me at 16 weeks and 'then maybe you won't need more tests'. But if i do, they'd schedule this after new years. I argued a lot, said i wanted diagnostic test regardless of 'second opinion'. (Seemed pretty B.S.-y to me...) They told me i couldn't have it and i pretty much demanded it, but also broke down in tears (so they did what they do in those situations--I was put on hold. haha). When someone picked up it was the NICEST nurse. I blubbered at her about how no one would give me a straight answer, and the whole 'sordid' thing...
And she said she could get me in TODAY for a Verifi, which is the blood test they do to check for downs, Trisomy 18 and 13. I couldn't believe it! This was at about 8:30 and I had to be there by 11, and it's out of town. But I got there on time and got it done!
Now I just wait for results, should be within a week of today. I'm nervous but feeling so much better now that something has been done.
Now I'm sitting here exhausted and feeling ill because man, today was hard. My days are hard anyway with the exhaustion and sickness, you know?
nectarine / 2750 posts
@LazyLightning: Thanks for the tip! Gosh, what a day. I am sorry you were getting the runaround, but SO glad everything worked out well in the end. I think sometimes people just do as little work as possible instead od actually trying to help people!
pear / 1632 posts
@littlecasita1122: That is adorable!! I love it! How did you design it? Was there a program or photo editing program you used? So darn cute!!
olive / 69 posts
@lazylightning you poor thing! I hate the helpless feeling we get when the doctors tell you somethings wrong, but don't explain the next steps. Praying that everything turns out well.
I'm still having days that i am crazy exhausted, but I still just power through. I'm also less hungry, but when I do get hungry, I can't push it off. Time to start taking some snacks with me!
pear / 1563 posts
@LazyLightning: That is just like a play-by-play of the worst doctor's office experience ever. I'm so glad you got in for a blood test yesterday, and fingers crossed for good results!
@itsmejules: Funny you say that about hunger - I was just coming on to write about how I was worrying a few days ago that I wasn't eating that much, and like clockwork I am now SO hungry. I definitely have to eat immediately when it hits.
Is anyone else feeling hungrier as we move toward the second tri? I also find myself thinking a lot more about nutrition now that the bread-and-cheese days of the first tri have passed...
pear / 1664 posts
@Revel: YES. SO so hungry. And must eat immediately. Not like "oh i'll grab a snack in a while." but like i have to constantly have food in my handbag to grab if i even start to feel a little hungry.
nectarine / 2750 posts
@Revel: @Lazylightning: Yes yes yes! I am never just "a little hungry", it is more of an "I need food right now" feeling, Especially when I wake up in the morning. Throughout the day I go from not hungry to famished without any real buildup, you know? I guess our babies are hungry!
pear / 1664 posts
@tlcbaby: that's so annoying! Especially at work or if you're in the car... you're suddenly so hungry you feel sick and it's without warning!! I got a lot of stares during a long meeting this morning when i whipped a snicker bar out of my purse... It was like 9:30 AM.
nectarine / 2750 posts
@LazyLightning: Haha, at least you were prepared.
So I wore maternity pants for the first time yesterday and, man, those things are comfortable! This is the first week where I am starting to feel like I look pregnant (to people who know me, anyway).
pear / 1664 posts
@tlcbaby: Oh man. I've been wearing them since the end of week 7. I got real fat, real fast.
nectarine / 2750 posts
@LazyLightning: Not fat...pregnant! That is what people have to keep reminding me.
Well I was lucky and had saved a lot of pants from a few years ago. I had lost about 10 lbs since then so I was able to start wearing them again...glad I decided to hang on to them!

Had my 12 week ultrasound this morning at 8:15. I was scared that I wouldnt have a full bladder, so I chugged two bottles of water on my way to the doctors office. And then they made me wait. And wait. And wait. I thought i was going to burst. Once the ultrasound tech put the wand on my stomach, she goes WHOA! That might be the fullest bladder I've ever seen. Ughhh. I've never been so happy to go to the bathroom!
The ultrasound itself was really awesome. With my first LO, she was not very active, and this baby was jumping and rolling all around. It was a lot of fun to see! I don't get my test results back for another week - so I guess that makes me less anxious.
Just ordered myself 4 new pairs of maternity pants. I think the end of wearing normal pants is near. 2-3 more weeks max!
pear / 1664 posts
@itsmejules: Congrats on your U/S! Our baby was sleepy but the tech kept shaking my belly to get him/her to move around a bit. It was funny because baby would get irritated and jump around, then settle back in to its position...
