@itsmejules: @softcream: Congrats to both of you!

How is everybody feeling? I think I finally made it all the way over the hump and feel almost like myself again...just much larger!

oddly enough I was going to post a similar message tlcbaby. Except yesterday I felt like I wanted to barf. all. day. long.

    Ughhh.

@softcream: @itsmejules: Glad you guys had great scans, congrats!

@tlcbaby: Glad you're feeling better! @itsmejules, sorry you had a bad day yesterday.

I feel pretty good. Still getting headaches but it's been almost three weeks since my last migraine, hallelujah! I've been having a small cup (~4-6 oz) of coffee in the mornings and that seems to help the headaches. Otherwise I feel like I've stalled on getting any larger, but I'm certainly much MORE hungry so I'm sure growth is just around the corner.

@itsmejules: Yuck, sorry! I did notice that mine got more sporadic before it finally went away. I would go a few days and then a whole week with no m/s and now I think I am in the clear!

On and off for me. .Had a decent weekend, actually accomplished a few things. Even exercised (slowly) for 20 minutes without losing it.

This week has been the week from hell though. My *morning* morning sickness is back (i tend to get worse from morning till night, but had been sick mornings too for a while). Almost didn't go to work today, but sucked it up and went even though it took me forever to get ready and it felt like torture.

Then I got to work and they were having a going away party for a coworker and brought in an electric skillet to fry bacon on. Really nice idea to have a real breakfast instead of just donuts or whatever, but OMG, barf-city. The whole building smelled like it and I just couldn't do it. Even started crying because it's not fair. 15 weeks tomorrow and this is the lot I get I guess: barfing because bacon is being cooked on another floor several doors down.

@LazyLightning: Bacon cooking has been the worst smell for me! You poor thing, that's terrible.

Now that I'm feeling better I kind of want to try it again but I'm afraid.

@LazyLightning: Thats sounds horrible! I've had the worst food aversions and I can smell like a hound dog. My dear friend coffee is now banished from the house, no cooking eggs, no meat, no anything!! Even just the smell of the pan heating up through me over the edge so I can only imagine bacon!!! ahh!!

Im starting to feel a bit better- Im 11.5 weeks today - I was hungry at 3:30 in the morning, well im hungry every 2 hours now! Im also getting tailbone pain or something....anyone know what thats all about???

Hope you all start to feel better!!!!

The NT scan went well this week, and the blood work came back all good today - low risk, woohoo! Had an awesome scan and got lots of photos - even one with the baby's little feet sticking up in the air, crossed at the ankles! Amazing how something so small can look so much like a "real" baby (have no idea how else to put that...)

    nectarine / 2750 posts

@LazyLightning: Blech, sorry When my morning sickness was at its worst, I could barely look at bacon. It started to look like old people's skin (sorry, I know that is gross). But now that I am feeling well again, bring on the bacon!

@tinypiglet: Congrats - sounds like great news! I am headed back to my midwife next week, but no ultrasound until next month.

I hope someone has their baby on my birthday, June 20th!

So I know we were discussing maternity clothes last week. I had a few pairs of the full panel, but I got a couple from Old Navy this week with the stretchy band that goes below your belly. I actually really like them! They are comfy and I still look a little pregnant and not just large.

  25. LazyLightning

    pear / 1664 posts

@tlcbaby: I am feeling LARGE still. Many have told me the "bloating" will go down and you'll just look pregnant, but having gained over 15 lbs (seriously, my body LOVES TO GAIN WEIGHT!) makes me just feel gross and chubbo. I keep hoping it'll level off and I'll grow in to it, I guess!

Also, anyone have Round Ligament Pain yet? (*raises hand*). It is not fun. It's what I imagine the baby kicking would feel like...if the baby had razor sharp toenails. Yay! Just LOVING pregnancy so far..lol!

  26. tlcbaby

    nectarine / 2750 posts

@LazyLightning: I like your description of round ligament pain. I have had some weird pains/pulling sensations and sometimes just a dull pain all day. I guess there is just a lot going on in there!

  27. LazyLightning

    pear / 1664 posts

@tlcbaby: according to my app, baby is supposed to 'double in weight' in the next few weeks. My oh my.

  28. softcream

    apricot / 423 posts

in the two weeks between my 10-week scan and 12-week NT scan last week, baby almost doubled in length (well, closer to 150%). i was so surprised. explains the new wave of constant hunger. baby needs to grow!

  29. Revel

    pear / 1563 posts

@LazyLightning: Thanks for compiling the list. We are EDD twins!

@tlcbaby: I am getting pains like you describe, much more so than the sharper pains that I hear described as RLP. I imagine it's all related to growth though.

@softcream: That's a big jump in length! I've been ravenously hungry the last week or ten days - today is the first day I don't feel constantly hungry, so perhaps that was some kind of growth spurt.

  30. tlcbaby

    nectarine / 2750 posts

@softcream: @lazylightning: Wow - that is quite a growth spurt - no wonder I feel everything growing and stretching

Think happy thoughts for me tomorrow - I am headed back to my midwife for a checkup and I always get a little nervous before appointments.

  31. jh524

    pear / 1632 posts

@LazyLightning: Thanks for making the list! It's fun to see everyone's due dates

@tlcbaby: Is the round ligament pain in your abdomin or closer to the tailbone area? My tailbone feels like its broken at times. Hurts like hell to walk or sitting and then dissapears for awhile. Is this normal so early in pregnancy? Ill be asking my dr. on Wed. at 12 week appt. Happy thoughts to all!!!!!!!!

  32. tlcbaby

    nectarine / 2750 posts

@jh524: Mine is more in my lower abdomen, but I have heard some other girls say they had low back pain, even early on. I would definitely ask about it. I am sure there is something you can do to relieve it.

What kind of questions are you all asking your doctor/midwife? I have an appointment today and since I am in the second tri I wanted to start asking about exercises I should modify, whether I should get a flu shot (never have and would prefer not to if possible, but I would like their opinion) and I want to know when the baby will be able to hear us.

I have a lot of questions, but some won't really come into play until later on so I am trying to save some for later appointments.

  33. LazyLightning

    pear / 1664 posts

@tlcbaby: I was told to get a flu shot as flu can really harm baby and make mom miserable (there's barely any meds you can take). They gave me one right at the OB office, with "no preservatives" or no live virus, or something-- one they usually reserve for preg women and those with compromised immune systems.

You could also ask (if you don't know) when you'll find out the gender if you plan to. (My office won't do it before 20 weeks but i've heard as early as 16).

Asking about exercise is a good idea too. I have an appt tomorrow and I honestly have no questions prepared!! I just go in there, complain a while, they poke and prod me and tell me i've gained too much weight, then i say "see you next time."

  34. tlcbaby

    nectarine / 2750 posts

@LazyLightning: Sounds like a blast! I have questions prepared, but I always forget them so today I wrote them down. I don't think we are going to find out the gender, but I think we could if we wanted to at our anatomy scan in January. I want to be surprised!

Is anyone else planning on not finding out?

  35. LazyLightning

    pear / 1664 posts

@tlcbaby: I MUST KNOW. (Mainly because we're having an awful time with names and it would be so much easier to focus on one gender...but I'm also just really nosy.) When is your january scan? Ours is the 16th.

  36. tlcbaby

    nectarine / 2750 posts

@LazyLightning: I don't know yet - I'll schedule it today, but it should be right around that same time because I'll try to just do about 4 weeks from today. I can't believe that in a month I will be halfway through my pregnancy. It makes me a little sad, but excited at the same time.

  37. softcream

    apricot / 423 posts

@tlcbaby: we're planning on keeping it a surprise too. should be a fun surprise either way!

@jh524: and yes on the tailbone pain. i get it on and off. i thought it was because i was sitting so much more. but i don't really know.

Had a good appointment with my midwife today. I actually met with one of the other midwives in the practice because they like you to get to know all of them since any one of them could be on call when you go into labor.

Baby's heartbeat was fine, in the 150 bpm range. I asked about exercise and she actually said I don't need to worry about lying on my back or stomach, she said just do whatever I am comfortable doing and if it feels weird don't do it.

On the flu shot, she suggested it couldn't hurt. She used to tell people not to do it if they didn't want to, but then one of their patients got the flu and had to deliver early. It sounded pretty bad. So now she encourages it a bit more, but still said it was up to me. I guess I need to decide.

She also suggested we go ahead and look into childbirth classes. I wasn't even thinking about that yet, but she said they fill up quickly. She gave me some local resources that I am going to check out.

My anatomy scan is all set for January 8th. I can't wait to see our little baby again!

@tlcbaby: Glad you had a good appt.! So have you ever had a flu shot? I have never got one so I'd be kinda afraid to get one now, ya know? I'll ask my dr. about this tomorrow as well.

  40. tlcbaby

    nectarine / 2750 posts

@jh524: I've never had one, which is why I am hesitant. Let us know what your doctor says, I am curious. In weirder news, I had a dream last night that there was a special lotion you could use as a flu prevention.
