@Smurfette: ^ This. K will wake up crying and inconsolable sometimes until we get a big burp or spit up suddenly and then goes back to sleep pretty quickly. Gas. Sorry to hear about your sleep troubles and clogged duct. The best thing that helped me when that happened was placing a hot water bottle on the area, massaging it, and feeding from that side. Went away in a day like that.

Ladies, I'm worried I'm having a supply issue. I couldn't go back to sleep after our feeding, so I decided it was as good a time as any to try and pump the other side (I only feed one side at a time). It had been 8 hours since our last feeding of the night and I only managed to get less than an oz, maybe 0.5 oz, of milk! How can that be? I've been sooo hungry the past few days, but I ate like a pig last night because of it. Posted a thread hoping for some help. But now I'm all concerned, can't fall back asleep.

So Day 2 of swaddle-weaning was torture. Day 3 of swaddle-weaning was not too bad! I think we had 3 wake-ups and she slept shorter total (like 10.5 hours instead of 11.5-12) but she had an almost 3 hour nap from noontime! That's never happened! Day 4 (today) is pretty good so far! Our night-time was the easiest so far because she fell asleep in the bouncy chair and I just transferred her. I woke up before 5 am, checked the monitor and she was wiggling around in her crib, eyes opening and closing, but she would just find her fist and suck on her thumb! Went on for about 15 min. from the time I woke up and then she fell back asleep. I waited about another 40 min. and when she started doing it again, I went and got her and basically did a Dream-Feed and put her back down. She woke up about an hour later, but I just held her and walked around a little bit and she fell back asleep.

@Adira: Men sick are worse then babies!

@shopaholic: Glad that swaddle weaning is going better. Can I ask why you decided to do it already? I wouldn't worry about your supply if K seems full and happy.

@Adira: Dealing with sick men is never fun, hope for your sake he gets better fast.

@Smurfette: I hope your clogged duct has cleared up.

@shopaholic: I hope the swaddle weaning continues to go well. Isaac weened himself about a week and a half ago and he sleeps much better as he is not trying to break free of anything.

Today has been a sleeping nightmare. Although Isaac only got up once last night to eat which was nice he didn't go to sleep until almost 11 and was up at 2ish and then 6ish. He woke up at 8 and didn't go for a nap until 1:30 this afternoon for half an hour. He is now napping again. He has been so cranky today. I'm hoping he wakes up a happy little man. We were supposed to go visiting this afternoon, but that has yet to happen.

@ALV91711: Aww I am sorry!! We have had days like that before.

    Summary from today
    1) Still clogged up. Since we are on operation bottle I am not nursing as much. Bad timing
    2) great naps today
    3) 3 for 3 with bottles!!!!!! She fought 1 the most, took 2 no issue, 3 was BM, fought some still. It went SO much better then we thought it would go. She only ate 3 ozs each time so hopefully she will sleep good tonight.
    4) She sat in her infant seat. It is the Sunmertime one, has a tray with toys and converts to a booster seat when she gets older. She seemed to like it, till she jerked her head back really fast and it scared her.

@Smurfette: What a cutie! Glad the bottles went well.

Isaac is in his bassinet fighting falling asleep. He will be almost there and jerks himself awake. It is almost 10:30 and he has only slept about 2 hours since 8am. He has eaten like crazy this evening and now is starting to play. I am leaving him until he falls asleep or cries, whichever comes first. I hope it is sleeping as I'm exhausted.

What? I wrote a whole long post and most of it disappeared! bah!

@Smurfette: Basically K was waking me up at least once every night for a week because she wanted her hands. Especially as she got better control of getting and sucking on her hands, she'd wake up. I'd try to feed her, but she just wanted her hands and would fall asleep. Trust me, it took 6 weeks to get her to be OK to be swaddled. I was in no rush to wean her from it yet. But I think we're OK now. More night wakings than when swaddled, but as this morning proved to me, her self-soothing is better and she doesn't fuss that much even if she woke herself up!

Yay for R having such a good day and looking so cute in her chair!

@ALV91711: Hope Isaac sleeps well for you tonight!

I wrote a ton more before, but too tired now...

We tried the Bumbo for the first time this week! The first day it was really cute, but she started looking a bit bobble-head like, so I took her out. 2nd day she fought it and kept sliding to the side. I think she's still just too short for the deep seat and the angle her legs have to go up is uncomfortable? Here's a pic from the 2nd day (she was not too happy - first day was better but I didn't have my phone.)
2nd pic her butts not even in the seat anymore! Funny but a little scary!

@Smurfette: glad she took the bottles! What a cute seat - I've never seen that kind before.

@ALV91711: hope you are both sleeping well tonight!

    @shopaholic: OMG cute

@shopaholic: so cute! Does she have a necklace on?

So I emailed my boss on Wed reminding him I would be back on Monday. I just my email, and he isn't my boss. I knew there were some changes going on when I checked my email during leave. But now I am reporting to my old boss again. Not sure yet if my job has changed or what yet. She is on vacation till Thursday. But I am happy about this cause I really like her and is a Mom. So she will be much more understanding with my schedule then he would have been since he doesn't have any children.

@aprk: @Smurfette: Thanks! @Smurfette: Yes. It's one of the Baltic Amber Teething Necklaces. She's such a drooler so I've started putting the necklace on the past few days since she turned 12 weeks. It's still a little young for teething, but I'm hoping it will cut back on drool and get her used to wearing it. I take it off for sleep and baths (she only gets supervised wear).

  13. aprk

@shopaholic: let us know if you see any improvement from the necklace! I'm curious to try it

  14. shopaholic

    bananas / 9973 posts

@aprk: Will do! I do think she is drooling less, we are going through less bibs the past couple of days. But not sure if that's because of the necklace or if she's just sucking on her thumb = less drool?

I also figured if it's supposed to help with teething and read that it can be more helpful if they're already wearing it BEFORE they even start teething. So the succinic acid is already absorbed and working it's magic or whatever. Plus, I'd just like her to get used to wearing jewelry without fussing with them! haha!

I need to catch up on this thread, but for now... Poor Xander is sick like the rest of the family. We all have sore throats and Xander's cries and coos sound so pathetic and hoarse. I hope he feels better soon.

@Adira: poor guy! R had the hoarse cries when she was sick the week after Mothers Day. It just breaks your heart.

@shopaholic: do you think it is helping with the drooling?

@ALV91711: Sorry to hear about the horrible sleep and napping you've been dealing with! Was today better?

@Smurfette: OMG, R is so cute!!! And I'm glad you had some good luck getting her take some bottles! I'm sure she'll be just fine at daycare! I'll be thinking about you both tomorrow!

Glad to hear that you're happy to be back under your old boss!! I definitely prefer working for women because I feel like they are so much more understanding. So I hope it works out for you!

@shopaholic: Glad to hear that K is learning to soothe herself! That's definitely a good sign! And she's so cute in the Bumbo!!!

Here's a pic of Xander from the other day! I had to take it as soon as he was on his tummy before he started freaking out.

@shopaholic: I'm interested to know how the necklace works. I've heard of them but don't know anyone who's used one.

    @Adira: What a cute pic.

@Smurfette: I hope that your first day back tomorrow goes good and I'm sure that daycare will be fine.

Last night was not so great with a late bedtime and 3 wake ups. But today has been a lot better. Isaac has been napping and happy. I'm hoping he will go to bed earlier and sleep better tonight. I have a sore throat and could use a bit more sleep tonight, I sure don't want this to turn into anything more.

  21. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: No, I don't think so. I think he has a sore throat and that it hurts to swallow (at least, that's what I have) and every time I would nurse him, he would cry. It was so sad. I hope he feels better tomorrow, although I know I wouldn't mind staying home sick with him, hehe

@ALV91711: Glad to hear Isaac's been napping well today! Hopefully that means he'll sleep well tonight! Let us know how it goes! And I really hope you don't get what I have! It started off as just a sore throat and now I feel terrible. And poor Xander has it too. Hopefully Isaac doesn't get whatever you have, regardless of what it is!

I survived dropping her off! She fell asleep in the car ride so I put her in the swing when I got there. She was just looking all around at everyone. Currently pumping in my boss's office since she is gone. Trying to avoid the pumping room since it is a 5 min walk and someone can be in there. I need to get maintenance to bring up an extension cord so I can use the storage room as planned. I bought the medala pump and save bags to use instead of bottles. More expensive but at least this way at night all I have to do is pour into her bottles for the next day. Less washing helps too!!

Look how sweet my friend was to send to me at work.

I called at 10:15 and she was getting up from a nap. She only drank 2 ozs from her first bottle but took it early. Going to call this afternoon and see how she is doing.

@Smurfette: Glad that drop off went good. What a nice treat to get at work.

@Adira: I think I have a bit of a cold. My throat is still very sore. I really hope Isaac doesn't get it. All I want to do is sleep, which is pretty hard to do.

Last night sleeping went a lot better. Isaac still went to bed late, but he only got up twice like he was. Now to get him going to sleep earlier again.

  27. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: I'm thinking of you and R today!!! Sounds like so far everything is going smoothly on R's end. It's great that she took the bottle, even if she only had 2 oz. Did you end up sending BM or formula?

Does your pumping room have a schedule at all? Ours has a calendar in Outlook so that you can book time in it. That way you know when it's in use and when you can pump. That's cool you were able to use our boss's office though!

OMG, your coworker's so sweet!!! Mine are all men so they were all just "Oh hey, you're back!" to me. That's awesome that someone was so thoughtful for you!

@QueensBee: Xander actually seems the least sick out of all of us! Besides being a little congested, I think he's mostly back to normal today. He's been up, happy, and playing! Hubs and I are so sick though - we both called into work sick, so we kept Xander home with us. I'm nervous I'm not going to feel better tomorrow though - I thought I was getting better yesterday, but today I feel worse! Ugh!

@ALV91711: Ugh, mine started off as a sore throat, and if that wasn't bad enough, it moved on to congestion as well. All I want to do is sleep as well!! It sucked soooooo bad all weekend when I had to get up around 4:00 a.m. to feed Xander. I just wanted to sleep!! Luckily, my husband has been pretty awesome, even though he's sick too. After Xander's 8:00 a.m. feed, Hubs took over baby-duty (because Xander was WIDE AWAKE) so that I could sleep in. I feel a little better now that I've gotten some sleep, but still pretty terrible.

  28. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: I sent all BM. I also sent some of the pre-ready formula and an empty bottle to just have on hand. The pumping room doesn't have a schedule, at least that I know of. I am going to go by there when I leave work and double check.
It wasn't a co-worker that send the arrangement, a personal friend that sent it to work. She is so sweet.

I hope you feel better tomorrow!!! Glad Xander is feeling better.

  29. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Oh, oops, yes, you said a friend sent it, haha. I'm so out of it today! That was so sweet of her! My best friend forgot when I was going back to work - she was all "Hey! Want to get lunch today?" and I had to be all "Uh, I'm at work. :("

That's awesome that you were able to get R take BM in a bottle! It sounds like she is going to do just fine at daycare! How have you been holding up so far? I remember my first day back at work - it seemed sooooooooo long to go without seeing Xander!

How big is your office? Ours is fairly large, so I think that's why we have a schedule. But if yours is smaller, maybe they don't feel the need to have one? Ours also has a little notebook in the room and people write down their schedules. Maybe you could try something like that with yours and see if other people go along with it?

  30. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: The office is huge, at least 500 people. The biggest issue is will take 10 mins to walk there and back. So I would rather find something on this side of the building, so I am not wasting any more time. I don't want to call attention to me taking time to pump.

  31. shopaholic

    bananas / 9973 posts

@Smurfette: I do think she drools a little bit less, but it's only been a few days and she doesn't wear it all the time. Not sure if she's been drooling less because she's found her thumb and hands or because of the necklace!

    Good luck at work today!

@Adira: Thanks! Xander is so cute! Hope y'all are feeling better!

@ALV91711: A lot of moms around here have them on their toddlers. And I've seen them sold in a few stores. When I posted them (I bought 2) on IG, I got a lot of positive feedback!
Glad Isaac slept well for you. Hope you don't get something! It sucks because they say all those cold meds can mess up your supply, so I'm wary of taking any of those.

  32. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Oh, that sucks that the room is so far away! Ours is centrally located, luckily. I hope you are able to find a room close to where you work that you can use instead.

How areyou doing? Have you checked in with daycare anymore today to see hiw R is doing? You get to pick her up in a coupke hours right?

  33. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: Well I got an extension cord from maintenance. So I think I am just going to use the storage closet. No one ever goes in there, and only like two people have keys.

I called maybe an hour ago and they said she was doing great. She was finishing up a bottle. Said she was going in and out of sleep earlier in the bouncy seat. Stinker doesn't sleep in that for us.

Maybe DH and I need to just let her cry more and see if she will sleep by herself.

I miss her so much! I am going to pump one more time and then it will close to leaving time.

  34. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Does the closet have room for a seat so you can pymp in relative comfort? Glad you got an extention cord so you won't have to make the long trek to the pymping room.

Glad to hear R is doing well at daycare!! It's crazy how differently kids will behave for other people than their parents. My best friend was taking away her three-year-old's pacifier so she put it in one of those Build-a-Bears and when she explained to her daycare that her daughter wasn't allowed a pacifier anymore and that she could snuggle the bear instead, the daucare ladies told her that she hadn't been using a pacifier there for months!!

  35. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: Yes, there is a chair in the back, sort of hidden by boxes. Which is perfect, gives me a little more coverage in-case someone walks in. That is too funny about the pacifier! I will be interested to hear what all she does at school but not home!

A got his two month shots today. He was mad for a few seconds and then fell asleep. Woke up to eat and then took another nap. This time he woke up with so much screaming! Poor guy.
