March 2015 Mamas!

is anyone else getting cramping? I'm getting cramps, but it feels different than period cramps ever did. Those always seemed to be in my back symmetrically on either side of my back. I always assumed it was my ovaries because that's where it seemed like the pain was coming from - not sure if that's scientifically true.
But this cramping is different. It's more on the front and low down and seems like it's actually in my uterus. I suppose it could be from stretching out or a lot going on in there. Anyone else experiencing this?

@LaughLines: I've had a bit of this cramping too. Definitely different feeling than period cramps. It's more than likely stretching like you said. You will probably feel a lot more pulling and stitch like pain as the baby gets bigger. That's round ligament pain. Can catch you off guard sometimes but is completely normal.

@LaughLines: yes! Me! Especially in the beginning. I posted a thread about it and everyone said it was normal. If you feel it intensely and only on one side though mention it to your doctor. Sounds good to me though.

@LaughLines: My cramps were especially bad this week but not bad this week. Hope you aren't too uncomfortable!

@simplyfelicity: I empathize with you completely. I miss coffee.

@LaughLines: I had tons of cramping, down low, up until this weekend. Starting to calm down a little bit. Hopefully yours will soon, it was worse than regular menstrual cramps for me!

@LaughLines: I was having these pinching cramps in the same place as you. More similar to the implantation cramps I felt a few weeks ago than AF cramps. Localized, on both sides but separate times, and sharp enough that I wanted to rub it to help. It sounds like that's normal, but it's still freaking me out. Do you think this worrying ever stops?!

OK ladies I need some perspective. So when we were in high school my brother Adam passed away in a car accident. Even back then I knew I wanted my son's middle name to be Adam if I had one. ..I even wrote it in a letter that we put in the coffin before the funeral. So as we've been talking about names that has been a no brainer. So, my cousin's wife was pregnant and they had a baby boy last night and guess what the middle name is? My cousin was really close to him too, and he's the last male in our family with my maiden last name, so the middle name and last name are my brothers. I still plan to use the middle name. Right now I'm trying to not be mad/upset but I kinda feel like it was stolen. I guess I should be happy.... just need some help getting there

  13. LulaBee

@MrsMccarthy: Only if I can blame pregnancy on my pants being too tight... I mean, it's only 5 weeks!

  14. MrsMccarthy

    honeydew / 7295 posts

@LaughLines: aww honey I'm so sorry. I think it's okay to be a little bit sad. It's nice though that you both want to honor your brother. I am so so so sorry you lost him. Hormones always make these things sting worse. I hope you get your boy and he looks just like a little Adam (with a dash of your husband off course).

@LulaBee: you SO can! The bloat is no joke particularly in the summer! I was showing (see: growing) very early even with my first.

Is anyone else having insane dreams? I have been having the most vivid and bizarre dreams lately. Littered with exes and seeming to circulate around my 20s spent in NYC but with new events. It's so odd because I'm not usually a big dreamer but I think HCG is making me sleep better.

Also I peed on another digital with weeks on it and it says 2-3 weeks pregnant! Love seeing progress even though I realize it makes me a crazy lady to keep peeing on sticks! Two come in the box though so it's not like I bought a new one just to pee on.

  15. LulaBee

    pear / 1837 posts

@LaughLines: It is absolutely okay to be sad about that. Luckily, you can still honor your brother by choosing his name to be your son's middle... and it won't matter one bit that your cousin did the same. Just a testament to your love for him.

I haven't posted since my intro, because I got some negative results the next morning, but I've gotten positives since then, so it must be a one-off, and I'm calling myself pregnant for now. I'd love to join the facebook group--I don't have gold so can't seem to write to anyone. Help?

@LulaBee: My bloating was the worst at four- five weeks and it actually has gone down a lot. It was seriously uncomfortable. I feel "normal" again in that department.
@MrsMccarthy: Yeah super super weird dreams. Like my grandmother (who is deceased) coming to see me.
@LaughLines: The way I see it, what a beautiful gesture and testament to how dearly loved your brother was and is. I completely understand your disappointment and I would be, too, but it's amazing how much your family wants his memory to live on through your children. He was obviously an amazing, wonderful person whose memory you will treasure forever. That said, I would go with the same plan for using his name. Sorry if that was off base or off topic, I was just moved by that.

  20. LIL BEAN

    cherry / 166 posts

@LaughLines: Oh, honey. That would irk me a bit, too. Don't worry about that. The big picture, as @simplyfelicity said so well, is that your brother was treasured enough to be honoured by those of you that loved him so much. And of course, you can still use it, too. Hugs

    @MrsMccarthy: Crazy weird dreams!

My naturopath wants me to abstain from sex (esp female orgasm) for the first trimester. I'm not sure if she recommends this to all new mamas-to-be, or if I'm just a higher risk because of age and hormone issues. She said the contractions of orgasm are too much. Me and DH are struggling, not gonna lie. We both have pretty high sex drives (sorry for TMI) and the result is CRAZY VIVID sex dreams! (Again, sorry for TMI). But your dream story reminded me. I even had a dream about my first bf! So weird. #pregnancyiscrazy #howmanymoreweeks

    nectarine / 2641 posts

@LIL BEAN: Haha. I've heard that advice for Mama's with complications before. During my first pregnancy, I had the craziest sex dreams and would wake up with an orgasm--it was nuts!

@MrsMccarthy: I gave him the keychain I had made in January. (Do you remember?) And showed him the test...and then he kept folding laundry. Argh. I think he was shocked and scared like I was. Maybe I should have shown him a digital, which I haven't taken yet. Called doctor. Made an appointment for August 7th. The receptionist had me leave a message for the nurses to see if I could do a beta.

Haven't done my intro yet here because I'm a bit freaked out.
    -_-
Thanks so much for warning me that the lines may not get darker for a bit. The test this morning got a wee bit darker, but not by much. However, it wasn't truly FMU, because I could barely sleep a wink last night and likely used the bathroom like 8 times...

I got an acupuncture treatment this afternoon and that helped a bit. I have a huge event tomorrow with 50 nonprofits coming and the mayor of our city tweeted about it last week. Maybe I will feel better on Thursday.

@HolisticMama: aww info remember! give it a few days they will get darker. Mine didn't match the control until a week or so after my missed period.

Hi ladies, I was going to give it a few more days before I joined, but 3 positive pregnancy tests and very sore boobs have led me to join now! I intend to take another frer in 48 hours to check if it's getting darker. AF is meant to be due today!

    Location: New Zealand

    EDD: looks like 24 March
How far along: 4 weeks today!
First child? Nope, lo is almost 22 months

First doctor appointment: I will contact my midwife after I see the frer result in 48 hours

Any symptoms so far? Insanely sore boobs

Who have you told? Just dh! I will tell my mum and bff tomorrow.

@MrsMccarthy: Can you add me to the fb group as well please

@LaughLines: that is so nice to honor your brother that way. I'd be a little upset too but that is whole lot of love to your brother.

@HolisticMama: Welcome to the March party! I followed you a little bit on the TTC boards and I'm so happy you're here with us!

@MrsStar: Congrats dear and welcome!! I'd say 3 positive tests are a pretty good sign that your officially pregnant!! ; )

@Mrsmccarthy: Crazy dreams over here too! Last nights was pretty <ahem> steamy.

My nausea and aversions are picking up over here. Still coming in waves but so far haven't actually been sick which I'm grateful for.

I know there are quite a few 2nd time Momma's here - Is anyone already thinking - How the heck am I gonna do this??
I was giving B his bath tonight and thought how am I going to wash him and pick him up out of the tub with a giant ass belly? Not to mention once the baby is here and I'm chasing after a crazy child with a baby attached to me! I'm terrified!

@MrsStar: ahhhhh hooray!!! Yes I'm adding you now! What a dream to share two pregnancies. Lots of sticky dust!

@Phillybaby2013: I think the 7 months of TTC gave me time to wrap my head around some of it BUT there are still things that make me feel overwhelmed. I think it's a fake it till you make it type of scenario.

@holisticmama: One of my recurring dreams always involves my teeth falling out or getting messed up. Usually I dream that I look in the mirror and see half my teeth are gone. When I was younger I used to think "oh no my parents are gonna be so pissed (b/c they spent so much on braces!)"

Cat's out of the bag. Guess I should do my intro.

    Location: Colorado

    EDD: March 26th, 2015

How far along: 3 weeks + 5 days

First child? YES! Woohoo! We were told by our RE that we only had a 1% chance of conceiving naturally, because of low sperm count, poor morphology and diminished ovarian reserve, but...we somehow managed a miracle. I tracked our fertility journey a bit: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10100294242387990.1073741831.29901698&type=1&l=e14160ac2a

First doctor appointment: I am picking up labwork to do a couple betas tomorrow. I made our first OB appointment for August 7th.

Any symptoms so far? I decided to test because my gums were bleeding after I flossed yesterday morning. Random, I know. BBs are sore, super crazy hungry...and...I don't know how to describe it... heaviness in the womb? Pinching? Aching? Nothing really painful. I had a headache today. I hope it's related to a terrible night's sleep.

Who have you told? Quite a few people, I've reached out to those individuals that I know have been praying for me so that they can modify their prayers. Contemplating telling parents soon. Maybe after betas.

This is my first time joining a board/group, I'm excited! We've been trying for #2 for about a year and had one miscarriage, so very happy to be here!

    Location: Washington, DC
    EDD: March 17th, 2015
    How far along: 5 weeks
First child? No, DD just turned 2
First doctor appointment: Not yet. I've got another beta scheduled next week to make sure levels continue rising appropriately.
Any symptoms so far? I FEEL so pregnant! My stomach got kinda hard/tight like last time and I'm a bit bloated. Crazy dreams! Also some light spotting, which scared me, but beta tests look good, so I'm ok now
Who have you told? DH, our parents and our siblings. We would've waited, but they were all in town to celebrate DD's birthday, so we couldn't help but share the good news!
