@Navy_Mommy: Love the idea of a train themed party/play date! My little guy loves trains now that he's older but we did an airplane theme for his 1st birthday. Transportation themes are so fun.
.@mrsrain: We will be doing a pack n play next to the bed this time. We got one with a sleeper thing and a changer. Last time we used a rock n play but it was super hard and we think it contributed to LO's flat head so we moved him to his crib at 2 months. Wanted to get a nice bassinet this time but couldn't spend the money either!

@princessandthebee: ugh...trust me its because I have zero time or motivation during the work week. I'm in a different role now than I was when I was pregnant with Kate but I am feeling so much more stress at work this time around that after I put Kate down (early...like 7pm) its all I can do to get the kitchen cleaned before collapsing on the couch!
I have a large amazon purchase to make yet - sound machine, bath foam, wcrs, so much - but like someone else said...with Prime I pretty much feel like I can push the "buy" button on the way to the hospital and be good!
What is this changer you mentioned?

@princessandthebee: I'm having the same problem with a name - I feel like I used the best name with Bennett and now nothing is as good! Weirdly, out of nowhere today my mom texted and asked us to name the baby Grayson, because she really likes it. She was joking, but that was totally our top pick until recently. My mom and I have a bit of a weird relationship and now I can decide whether her liking it makes me like it more or less.
Took a break today and went out to play in the snow!

@Mrs D: Totally feel you on being spent after the LO goes to bed! We need to rest while we can!
This the peanut changer we bought but it comes in lots of colors. A hefty price tag but I'm still thinking we'll have a third, and I really like the idea of less laundry during those early poop explosions and pee accidents! This thing just wipes down.

@erinbaderin: we played in the snow today, too! First time either boys saw snowfall!

@erinbaderin: Glad you feel my pain! Why is it so tough to find a second special name, argh! That is so random with your mom though! Is that a sign? Hmm, yea you said your relationship is weird so who knows. I have a feeling you'll know closer to the baby coming.
We were Skyping with my hubby's parents and told them we had a girl's name picked out (before we were even pregnant with DS1, and before we could tell them my MIL told us the girl name she thought was so pretty- exact same name!! We both kind of cried and now I'm sure it's meant to be! If we ever have a girl, lol.

@erinbaderin: @Navy_Mommy: Yay for playing in the snow!
It was -18 at one point today here in Minnesota so needless to say, we did NOT go outside.

@princessandthebee: @erinbaderin: @Navy_Mommy: Got our first real snowfall here this evening, but I doubt it'll be enough to play in tomorrow. Such a weird, warm winter we are having! I was wandering around our property last week and realized that the weather had tricked some of my garden veggies into thinking it was spring! Onions, lettuce, and cilantro were all growing.

@erinbaderin: we had a similar name recommendation scenario with my mom. She randomly mentioned the name Cameron as a suggestion, and although I don't have a problem with that name, the teenager in me was thinking "no way!!! Back off mom!!!"
We still have no idea what to name this baby. It's to the point where we aren't even actively looking for name options anymore. I've recently been trying to get back on the search, but so far I'm the only one looking and DH hasn't really liked any of my (completely amazing) name suggestions! I'm getting truly concerned that the hospital is going to force us to settle on something after he's born,or we won't get discharged!

Loving all the snow pictures! We had a tiny bit yesterday but not enough to play in.
The sellers we were meant to be buying our house from had to pull out due to problems with their new place So now we are scrambling to find a rental before this bubba gets here! Thanking my lucky stars this has been an easy pregnancy so far as I couldn't deal with anything else to worry about!
So far I have got the baby clothes down from the loft to wash, and that's it! Hoping he is comfy in there so I have plenty of time left to get sorted!

@Navy_Mommy: That's flipping awesome they come to you!
@Mrs D: That's awesome K is starting to potty train. I'm totally jealous because DS understands it conceptually, but won't effing go himself. I really wanted him to be potty trained before DD arrived, but yea...
As for names, DD will be Riley Madison
@Navy_Mommy: @Mrs D: I was induced with DS at 37 weeks due to low amniotic fluid levels for 2 weeks (they hung out around 7.xx cm and he was an IUGR baby). While I was super scared and nervous about and heard all sorts of stories, my L&D went super smooth and comfortable. Once we got past the heart decels in the beginning. Apparently, he didn't like me laying on my left side!
@sailgrl18: Happy belated bday to your lil boy!!
@erinbaderin: happy birthday to your lil man today!
@Navy_Mommy: That train snack is freaking cute! I have to keep that in mind for future bdays!
@mrsrain: I've been debating when I should order my breast pump. My EDD isn't until mid March, but I'll more than likely being induced beginning of March. I think my insurance doesn't let me order until 30 days pre-birth. Which pump did you end up getting?
I plan on using our 4moms Breeze pack and play the first few months unless we get the Halo bassinet.
@erinbaderin: cute snow pic!! @Navy_Mommy: I love how Bennett wrapped his bunny up and took him out too!
@Bubbles: Boo on the buyers backing out. Hope y'all find a place soon!

@Alivoo01: my insurance just requires you to be past 28 weeks. I am getting the Medela Pump in Style Advance starter kit. Same one I got before and was pretty happy with it. If you think you'll get an induction, I bet you can get your ob/mw to write it on the prescription so you can order sooner.

@Alivoo01: I was induced with Oliver at 41+3. It was a super smooth induction. But I'd much prefer to have spontaneous labor.

@Navy_Mommy: I love your son wearing his elephant in the backpack! Too cute!
@princessandthebee: Hmm, now that you say that it maybe DOES feel like a sign! Whatever the case, we're kind of back onto Greyson, so....who knows. I'm not going to commit fully to anything until we actually meet him, so we'll see, I guess.
@Lilbear: I would be so frustrated with having all my suggestions shot down and none brought up! You should say "Until we can agree on something we like more, we're naming this baby X". Maybe that would motivate him!
@Bubbles: Yikes! That's a level of stress you probably didn't need! Fingers crossed it gets sorted out without too much trouble.
@Alivoo01: Another one on the "gets it in theory, no interest in practice" potty train. Last night as my husband was putting B into bed he said "Daddy, poop in there?" "Nope, no poop, you're ok." A pause, and then "Poop coming?" My husband asked if he wanted to go sit on the potty and he said yes, but it was just an excuse to get out of his crib and delay bedtime, the little monkey.
It's Bennett's birthday, and I've seen way way way too much of it - he was up from 10:30pm until 3am for the second night in a row. I spent two and a half hours lying on the floor in his room holding his hand through the bars of his crib and he was totally fine, totally calm, and totally wide awake. Eventually I had to leave because I was in too much pain, sent my husband in, and he had a meltdown. "GO AWAY MY DADDY! I WANT MY MOMMY!" He ended up sleeping in bed with us for the second night in a row, and I'm at my wits end. I think tonight I'm going to have to sleep in the basement with a white noise machine and just let him work through it in his crib, because it's becoming real clear that he's just manipulating us - he's all screams and sobs until I walk in the room and then it's all smiles "Hi mommy!" Last night I felt guilty because yesterday he was diagnosed with an ear infection and I thought maybe he was in pain, but...seems like he just wanted to hang out.

@Alivoo01: Ya - it is nice but I am also worried about her completely regressing when the baby comes too! Ugh! Riley is my nieces name...except they spelled it weird. I love the name and much prefer your spelling!!!
@mrsrain: I plan to get that pump as well - I had it with K and loved it (as much as you can "love" any pump!
@erinbaderin: Ugh...sorry about the rough couple of nights. K is 100% in a manipulation phase right now and its driving me bonkers. She is totally "testing" us. We had a long conversation about it and decided to bite the bullet and just be firm. We have been having issues at bed time...so we have had to let her just cry it out...the first night was brutal but I think she learned we were hip to her crap and gave it up...fingers crossed for you!!!
DD2 will be in a basinett in our room for probably 8w, just like K. DH will sleep in the guest room after the first few nights. I have debated moving the rocking chair into our room for those first two months but still am undecided. I have a chaise that I could move out of our room but I was kind of thinking of using the chaise as a "changing table" for those early weeks in our room. Still un sure!
Is anyone else doing "gifts" that the new baby brings the older sibling? I guess I wasnt aware that this was a super common thing. I had planned to get K a bitty baby when her baby sister was born so she could have her own baby to change and feed when mommy was caring for baby sister. I guess I had not thought of it coming from her baby sister...anyone have thoughts on this?

@Mrs D: we did presents "from" Oliver for Wes, both boys will get a present from the baby when he's born.

@Mrs D: I thought about getting DS a gift, but I don't think he really knows/cares so I'll skip.

@Mrs D: We also have a niece who is a weirdly-spelled Riley! (Rhylie, in my case. Makes me nuts)
Yeah, Bennett has been wildly variable at bedtime lately. For a while he went down no problem. Then he started crying at bedtime, but after 10 minutes or so he'd settle down and sleep through the night. In the last few weeks he's started waking up in the night - sometimes he'll cry for a few minutes and go back to sleep, and other times he'll cry for, like, 90 minutes off and on until we go in there and then it's wide awake fun times for a few hours. That was pretty rare so I've been indulging it but now it's 3 nights in the past week that we've all been up for at least 4 hours in the middle of the night, so I think we're going to have to lay down a hard line and maybe invest in some better earplugs.
We're getting Bennett a train set (nothing outrageous, just one of the basic Brio sets) from his little brother when he comes. I was also thinking about taking him to Build a Bear or something and getting him to choose something for him to give baby brother.

Thanks guys, going to look at a rental tomorrow so fingers crossed!
You are all so brave potty training now! I am definitely not pushing it before baby arrives Luckily he's a great sleeper so we haven't got any worries there, I really feel for those of you dealing with night time shenanigans at this stage of pregnancy!

We are planning to help Maddie choose a gift to give Oliver when she meets him for the first time, and would like to get her a special baby of her own to bring home. Not sure if it'll be "from" him or not...

@Mrs D: @mrsrain: I just ordered my breast pump this morning. I decided to go with the Spectra S2 since its supposed to be hospital grade but covered by insurance and also runs quietly. I had the Hygeia Q with my first and it was great but considering I pump in my office with has very thin walls I'm looking forward to the quieter sound of the Spectra.
@erinbaderin: Sounds like its a 2nd birthday sleep thing. DS's birthday was yesterday and he has the absolute worst cold (his eyes are nearly swollen shut from the congestion but the pediatrician says its not an infection, his ears and lungs are clear as well) so he's just miserable and there's not much we can do about it. The first night DH and I took turns laying down and settling him each time he woke but last night DH was traveling so I just brought him into bed with me and settled him each time he woke himself up coughing. DS is in the toddler bed so its really hard because if he wakes up he gets out of bed and goes into the living room.

@erinbaderin: Ya ours is Reilly...its just weird to me! Build a bear is a nice idea...for K to give to baby sister...may have to think about that. We did BAB for the first time Christmas Eve for K and it was a nightmare...too many people and way too long of lines!
@mrsrain: Ya - that is what I am struggling with! I got a deal on American Girl giftcards at the holiday so I can get her a bitty and a diaper bag - just cant decide if it is from her sister or not....
@sailgrl18: The PIS was pretty loud...thankfully our Mothers Room here was in the engineering bay so it was nice and load...I need to check where my new mothers room is...

@erinbaderin: OH man, that does not sound fun! I think the basement and ear plugs is a good idea!!
I love the build a bear idea for baby brother, I was thinking about something for DS but forgot he should get something for his little bro too!
@Bubbles: Oh bummer about the house stuff!! Good luck with everything!
My little guy has his 18 month appt on Friday and he's finally sleeping later in the mornings again (instead of 5 AM wake-ups) and he may or may not be napping better, too soon to tell, I don't want to jinx anything.
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@sailgrl18: I wanted to get the Spectra S2, but my insurance doesn't cover it. Going to see if they cover the Spectra Portable pump instead. I've heard great things about Spectra so I'd love to get one! Who are you ordering your Spectra through?

@Alivoo01: I ordered it through Yummy Mummy. It's a DME supplier that's solely breast pumps.
grapefruit / 4545 posts
@momtimes3: thinking of you Mama...how you doing? Hows baby girl and boy?
pomelo / 5573 posts
I don't want to jinx anything because it's been less than a week but after those two terrible nights B has slept straight through every night since - he's even going to sleep easier! We've started being very clear at bedtime what's going to happen - two stories from one of us, one from the other, talk about his day, then we're going to leave and we're not coming back until the sunshine wakes up. I'm sure he'll backslide again but right now every time I wake up and it's morning is such a relief!
How is everybody doing? I feel like everything is starting to hurt - I just feel stiff all the time. I had a problem with sciatica last pregnancy too so I guess that's resurfacing.
nectarine / 2115 posts
@erinbaderin: that's great! I hope it continues!
I hurt, too. I'm up 5-6 times a night between rolling over (painful) and going to the bathroom. Lots of pelvic and hip pain this time around. I've started using a exercise ball which sometimes helps... But not always.
I just found out that my friend and husband teamed up and have been planning a "sprinkle" for me! It was supposed to be a surprise, but I've been having a rough week (emotional/depressed) and they decided to tell me yesterday. The shower we were thrown for DD was tiny-- only a few people could make it-- so I'm excited to have a chance to celebrate this baby with all of our new friends!

I either feel great or feel horrible. I officially geek like a turtle stuck on my back in the morning, lol.
We got like a foot and a half of snow this weekend. Treking around in the snow is EXHAUSTING. My whole belly tightens up if I'm out for more than 10 minutes, lol. Wes is already asking to go out and play and I don't think I can handle both boys by myself, so I feel bad that DH is at work.
I had my husband take a few maternity style pictures in the fresh snow! We'll go out and take family pictures this weekend.
35 weeks tomorrow! Getting close.
nectarine / 2115 posts
@Navy_Mommy: love the pics! I told DH we better get some this week before I swell up like I did late in my last pregnancy. I truthfully can't believe how close we are to the end! I'm so ready to meet my little guy, though. And be done with pregnancy forever.

@mrsrain: this is what I'm wearing for family pictures. I might pull the skirt down and do some bare belly pictures, too

@erinbaderin: That's awesome!! DS is teething his 2nd 2 year molar so nighttime sleep for us is non-existent. I feel so bad for him because I'm sure those hurt like hell. They're massive teeth, but man! It's killing me at work. We've done teething tablets and Tylenol before bed, but they don't work well/don't last long.
DD isn't a fan of me lying on my side so I've been falling asleep half sitting up and half lying down till she settles down then I scoot down all the way. And I don't remember this happening with DS at all, but I can feel her movements on the far right side of my belly. Like way the heck over there, on my side side. It's kind of weird!!
@mrsrain: Yay for the surprise sprinkle! How fun!! Do you know when it is???
@Navy_Mommy: Cute pics!!! I don't have my maternity pics until next month and am at a loss of what to wear!

@Navy_Mommy: That is an adorable outfit for your family pics! Where did you get the top and skirt from???
nectarine / 2458 posts
@Alivoo01: the skirt I got from etsy but I wouldn't recommend her shop. It was GINORMOUS even with my measurements and I had to alter it myself to make it wearable. For the amount I paid it should have been perfect and there was easily a foot of wasted fabric along the bottom.
The top is from urban outfitters.

@princessandthebee: Thank you! Really hoping this baby doesn't make an early appearance!
@erinbaderin: Yup I am starting to hurt too! Having a lot of pelvic pain which I didn't have at all last time, I guess that'll be carrying the toddler!
Had a midwife apt last week, blood pressure is still lower than it was at my booking apt which is amazing (especially considering life at the mo!) Last time I had issues with high BP during the last month, so looking hopeful that might not happen again.
I can't believe how close we all are to the end!! It feels like yesterday that this thread was started!
pomelo / 5573 posts
@Navy_Mommy: You look great! Also I have to confess that I'm totally jealous of all your snow. We still have almost none here and I'm really sad about it. I really love the skirt, so pretty!
@Alivoo01: That's so weird, that he doesn't like you lying on your side! Funny how babies can be so bossy even before they're born. I always feel this guy on my left (same as last time) but yeah, sometimes I'll feel something way over by my hip and think "Really? Did you really get a hand over there?" Hope your teething troubles end soon, I really should take a look in B's mouth one of these days and find out what's going on, teeth-wise. Or better yet, take him to a dentist.
@mrsrain: That's so nice that they're planning you a shower, and that they decided to tell you about it to cheer you up!
@Bubbles: Carrying the toddler, definitely yes. I've had to start getting my husband to lift him out of the bath, which involves a million promises: "Yes, daddy is going to pick you up but then he's going to give you right to mommy, don't cry, I know you want mommy to pick you up but I'm tired, I'll give you snuggles as soon as you get out!"
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@Navy_Mommy: oh wow! A foot?! That's pretty bad! A friend showed me some skirts like that on Etsy and it was like $100+. Ouch!
@erinbaderin: I quit checking DS's teeth shortly after he turned 2 in anticipation of those molars, but nothing came out so yea. Then a couple of weeks ago, DS told me his mouth hurt so I took a peek and lo and behold. There's one! Then yesterday, he said the other side hurt so I looked again, and sure enough. I see the bud wanting to come through. I haven't taken him to the dentist yet either. I will sometime this summer for his 1st visit.
And I have the same "issue" with DS! He's a HUGE mommy's boy and I asked DH to bathe him last night because I was too tired to. DS saw DH getting the bath ready and was like "No baba! Up!" And refused to get into the tub. Had to coax him into the tub and once he was in there, he was fine, but man!

@erinbaderin: aww bless him! For us it's the 4 flights of stairs up to our flat - sometimes he's all 'carry up stairs' and I am like 'not a chance mate!'

@erinbaderin: great news on the sleep! Fingers crossed for you!!!! Ugh...I feel you on the pain. Some nights I am just drained by the time I get home from work, cook dinner, feed K and put her to bed. Its all I can do to waddle to the couch and collapse. I am also in SO much pain when I get up in the middle of the night - I think DD may be laying on a nerve when I sleep on my right side as I am almost paralyzed by pain when I first get up.
@Navy_Mommy: Great pics and great dress! I need to take more pictures...though I feel like crap so I am not exactly wanting to be photographed!
@mrsrain: So fun to have a Sprinkle! I am jealous!
@Alivoo01: I have been struggling with my right side too...my mom told me towards the end of her second pregnancy that she had to sleep sitting up - I am praying to avoid this!
@Bubbles: Great appt update! Like you I cannot believe how "close" we are all getting! I'm 34w on Friday...so after this next one (2/4) I go every week! Crazy-ness!
Not much progress here in the nursery just chipping away at my long list. Laundry, organization and two final DIY projects up for this weekend. Which leaves February for bag packing and food prepping! Fingers crossed.
Our grandparents are all in Florida right now and I am single parenting this weekend - please pray for me!

@Alivoo01: The other night when my son was up crying my husband went in to check on him and his crying turned to screams. "NO DADDY! GO AWAY MY DADDY I WANT MY MOMMY!" Also yesterday after work we were all hanging out in the basement and I said I was going upstairs to start dinner. "I coming! Daddy stay downstairs, Mommy Bennett go upstairs!"
@Bubbles: Ooof, four flights of stairs. B is constantly going up two steps and then it's "Up please!" I need to start refusing but...he's cute! I'm a total enabler.
@Mrs D: Someone at work yesterday said "Pregnancy really suits you! I see some pregnant women just waddling around, you look great!" which was a nice compliment but man, I sure FEEL like I'm waddling around all the time. Especially when I first stand up after I've been sitting for a while. Yikes, single parenting - hope it goes well! And good reminder on the laundry, I put everything in drawers and then totally forgot that it hadn't been washed.
Is anybody else really really tired of maternity clothes? Last time I was fine with under-the-belly panel pants the whole time but this time I find them uncomfortable, which really cuts down on my pants option. Plus I basically hate all but two of my sweaters. I just want to wear something different but can't justify spending MORE money on clothes I'm only going to wear for a few more weeks...
