Oh man guys! I have been so behind on replies for this but love reading everything that's going on with you all. I'll do a little update for us... I will be 32 weeks this week and am kind of freaking out a bit! DS was born at 36 weeks so I feel like the countdown is on! Construction is finishing up on DS's new room this week and then we can work on painting. Goal is for him to be in his new room in 2 weekends... Then we have to move DD up to a bed and all that. She is starting to almost get out of her crib so that's forced the switch on us a little early. I'm a little stressed with all the projects between changing up all the kids rooms but am hoping we can get it done in time! Man, I can't believe how close we are getting to this!

OH MAN, you ladies have been busy! I am going to work backwards and try to get to everyone...

@creativemomma15: Wow, crazy to think you could be just a MONTH out! Sounds like you have a great plan to get everyone where they need to be before then, though.

@ALIVOO01: WOW, what a great room!
@NAVY_MOMMY: You, too! I am so jealous of your lovely crafting spaces! I currently have a desk in our sunroom (that is piled high with stuff at the moment) and a shelf in the garage. We have a cozy home, so I will never have a dedicated craft space as long as we live here.

@BUBBLES: wow, sounds like you have a lot on your plate! I have a friend going through something similar, and she is already 32 weeks pregnant. I hope things come together quickly and that you are able to get settled well before baby comes!

@LILBEAR: oh no, poor you! Nothing worse than a sickness that just won't go away! I did read that using the netipot consistently for too long can actually had adverse affects (keep you sick), so it might be worth looking that up. I sincerely hope you feel better very soon!

@MRS D: Kate's big girl room is so sweet! Thanks for sharing the pictures!

As for me, I have an appointment on Thursday for a follow-up ultrasound and the fetal fibronectin test. The results will determine what the rest of my pregnancy looks like, and I am a little nervous! On the other hand, I am so exhausted that being ordered on bed-rest doesn't sound too bad to me... I have been sleeping 8-10 hours at night, plus taking a 2 hours nap in the afternoon... I can't seem to get enough sleep lately!
Also, ever since Saturday night I get stressed out with every BH contraction. I know they are normal at this point in moderation, but every single one makes me tense up and worry.

@mrsrain: my big boys are sharing a bedroom so I can have a craft room, lol. But I have three different sewing machines, lol, if I didn't have a dedicated space I would have just taken over the dining room again which is no good.

I can't believe i have 49 days or less already! Im not ready so of course times flyin lol im scared and excited to see my babies just hoping she will be ok

@erinbaderin: @Navy_Mommy: Um. Our dining table was my sewing area also because our office was more for junk storage than actually being functional. I do clean up my sewing stuff before meal times, but I'm definitely excited about having dedicated space!

@creativemomma15: I feel ya on the countdown. I was induced with DS due to IUGR. DD seems to be on the same path so we're monitoring her closely. If she ends up being IUGR, I'll probably be induced at 37 weeks again, which is 7 weeks away! Ahhh!!!!!

@mrsrain: oh man! 8-10 hours of sleep plus nap time?! I'm totally jealous! DS is going through something (I don't know what), and has been waking me up every 2 hours or so. Maybe he's prepping me for his sister's arrival?! Can't a get a few more weeks of rest??? Please??? lol

  6. Mrs D

@mrsrain: Will be keeping everything crossed for you on Thursday!!!

@Navy_Mommy: Plus - boys love to share I am sure!!!

@momtimes3: Do you have a scheduled eviction date being as you have twins? I cant believe 49 days...that is terrifying and awesome all in one! I wonder when the first March Mama will deliver...we had some early ones last time around - scared the crap out of me since I was NO WHERE near ready!

DH is going out of town for a weekend at the end of January and I am starting to freak out. It is getting more and more difficult to care for K on my own. I can chase her and what not but picking her up I am noticing more and more causes tightening (BH or just muscle spasms)...and when she gets unruly and I have to mildly restrain her it is just exhausting.

Unfortunately MIL/FIL and my mom are all in Florida that weekend. So I have already put my dear dad one notice that he needs to spend the weekend with us and help out. I am also thinking of inviting my grandma to stay a night that weekend - she cant help me with the physical aspect but it'd be nice to have another person on hand. Lastly - I may just hire our sitter for 4 hours on Saturday...go get a pedicure/manicure, relax and maybe work on a DIY project or two. Is that bad?

@creativemomma15: If you don't need the crib for the new baby (and for what it's worth, our sleep consultant warned me to not change anything about a child's routine for at least 6 weeks before and 6 weeks after the arrival of a new baby) we solved the "climbing out of the crib" dilemma by taking out the bottom part of the crib and just putting the mattress on the floor within the walls of the crib.

@sailgrl18, @Navy_Mommy: The thing is that for naps we sit in his room and hold his hand until he falls asleep and for bedtime we just put him in his crib and leave. The few naps we did he kept trying to climb out of the bed and wander around and we had to keep putting him back in, so if we did bedtime he'd be in and out like a maniac.

@mrsrain: I keep thinking that too, that a little bit of bedrest would be a nice thing, but mostly because I'd like more time to read and watch tv before the baby comes and I lose all personal time for a bit. Fingers crossed for your appointment!

@Mrs D: I think getting a sitter and getting some time to yourself sounds like a great idea! Having to solo-parent while super pregnant sounds like a huge amount of exhausting work, I think you'll definitely need the break!

I was wondering that too about if we'd have any early babies - it's great that so far everybody has had pretty healthy uneventful pregnancies! Either way it's terrifyingly soon that babies will start showing up!

@Mrs D: Go for it! On days I work from home, and DS is feeling fine, I totally send him to daycare anyway so I can be productive. Plus, it's routine for him.

  10. erinbaderin

    pomelo / 5573 posts

@Alivoo01: My husband and I took the week between Christmas and New Year's off, and daycare was open Tuesday - Thursday, so we still sent B. On Tuesday I felt SUPER guilty about it, by Thursday I wished we could do it for longer. He was totally happy to go and see his friends, it helped him keep his schedule, and we got to go to a movie and to the mall and out to lunch and do things around the house - it was great!

  11. Mrs D

    grapefruit / 4545 posts

@Alivoo01: @erinbaderin: I have zero guilt about sending DD to daycare when its open and I am off work or working from home. She is happier and I get more done.

I worked from home 12/21-24 and DH and I were both off 12/28-12/31...we pay for her to go regardless...so we sent her each day. I took her a little later and picked her up earlier some days but she likes her routine and her friends...so I have no guilt about it!

  12. Alivoo01

    wonderful olive / 19353 posts

@erinbaderin: @Mrs D: Ditto! Normally, I drop him off really, really early. Like he's not even awake yet. So on my WFH days, I let him sleep in till he wakes up then change him to take him to daycare. He goes without complaint, and like y'all said, he enjoys seeing/playing with other kids and it's routine so why not!

So just to give you other sinus infection ladies a heads up - I woke up with pink eye in both eyes today. Apparently it was caused by my sinus infection! The dr gave me antibiotic drops for my eyes but didn't want to give me any antibiotics for the sinus infection. He just wants me to keep up with Tylenol and the neti pot. I am officially feeling sorry for myself now. 😔

I wont go past 38 weeks so yeah they will be evicted in 7 weeks or less lol still nervous about baby a's future baby a now is almost 2pds and b is almost 4pds

@Lilbear: Oh no you poor thing!

I bought a neti pot after reading suggestions in this thread and it arrived yesterday... this thing is amazing! Apart from the first 5 seconds where I felt like I was drowning... my nose hasn't felt this clear all pregnancy despite my current cold!

  18. Mrs D

    grapefruit / 4545 posts

@Lilbear: ugh our pediatrician has warned us about this. He said anytime things get clogged up up there there is a much higher risk of pink eye! Sorry you are going through this...for what its worth - I had antibiotics at 18 weeks too - I was afraid to but it had to be done for my health!

@Lilbear: Ironically - DH is convince this LO is going to be an awful baby bc the pregnancy has been so rough. K was an easy pregnancy and delivery and easy baby. So he has it in his mind we are in for hell!

@momtimes3: dont babies generally grow .5lbs a week in the end? Thats another 3.5lbs for your little ones...even if she can only steal half that from big brother would still put her at almost 4 lbs which would be great!!! Praying for you! Will they give you the steroid shot for the lunch development just in case?

@Bubbles: OMG I need the courage to try one of these...I am so intimidated!!!

  19. erinbaderin

@Lilbear: Good grief! Hope you're feeling better soon!

  20. Alivoo01

    wonderful olive / 19353 posts

@Lilbear: oh no!!!!! Hope the drops clear it up super quick!

@Mrs D: @Bubbles: DH swears by the neti pot also, but I'm so congested, the water doesn't flow through. Even the dr who looked in my nasal passage was like yea, not happening sweetheart. Sigh. lol

  21. Lilbear

    apricot / 451 posts

@Alivoo01: when I'm super stuffed, I heat the water up a bit and use a medicine syringe instead of the neti pot. The warm water seems to cut through all of the snots a little bit more easily.

  22. Bubbles

    persimmon / 1328 posts

@Mrs D: Not gonna lie, I was very close to freaking out when I first started pouring, my brain was telling me 'water is flooding in your nose, you need to panic right now!' But you just gotta remember to keep breathing through your mouth and its ok. I got a cheap one off amazon in case I hated it!

@Alivoo01: Aw no that must be really bad! Hopefully it will ease up soon

  23. Alivoo01

    wonderful olive / 19353 posts

@Lilbear: I just take super hot, extended showers and that usually helps drain things out for me. Only thing that sucks is hot showers really dry out my skin (even though I hot, hot showers), and the congestion builds right up after I step out of the shower. Boo!

  24. momtimes3

    cherry / 109 posts

I hope she'll weigh at least 4! Ive had steroids already twice. Main concern is her heart n possibly T18:( n i feel so discouraged pissed that they wont fix her heart if she has T18 even though other things appear normal!!

Update: Oliver is measuring right on track (58th percentile). My cervix is now measuring 2.9 which is normal, so there is no reason to anticipate that he will come early! Still need to be aware of contractions, but for now all is well!

    @mrsrain: Hooray! That's great news!

@momtimes3: This all sounds very stressful - keeping my fingers crossed for you and your sweet babies!

@Alivoo01: I HATE that feeling, when you can breathe in a shower and you know that as soon as you turn the water off you're going to be stuffed up again. It's so hard to drag yourself out.

@Mrs D: That's how I justified it too, his friends are there, they take him outside and have lots of different activities, and he seems to have fun. It was great, though - we were all able to sleep in until he woke up, then he came and snuggled in bed with us for a few minutes, then we all got up and dressed - much nicer than the standard weekend schedule!

Holy pelvic pain ladies...this is new for me - I don't remember it with K at all!

seriously it feels like someone punched me in the vagina and I have a deep bone bruise on my pelvis...wtf...I hope this is not going to be here for the next 8 weeks...thankfully it's only when I stand/walk.

Side note...k is in her big girl bed tonight! Say a prayer!!!

So - K slept in her big girl bed Saturday and Sunday nights!!!

Saturday night she woke wimpering at 3:30am...I ignored bc it wasnt "real" crying. Then she woke again at 6am - real crying - so I went in and told her it was still Nigh Nigh and Mommy would get her when it was time to wake up. She stayed in bed (dont think she slept) until I went back in at 7:15.

Sunday ... again wimpering at 3:30am. I think this is when she wakes for the first time from her deep sleep and the wimpering is trying to find the binky that fell out while she was in said deep sleep. I ignored again. I went in and got her at 7:20am this morning bc I needed to get her ready and leave.

    I'm calling it a win!!!

I am in a crazy busy stage for work right now so I have more or less halted everything on the home front but here is my big picture to do list:

    1) Nursery DIY: 3 canvas's to paint/make, mobile to make, main wall decor to make (banner + name)
    2) Nursery Assembled: Hanging it all up, bedding in, K's clothes out of closet, newborn stuff in
    3) Guest Bedroom Cleaned out (DH will sleep in there after our first few nights home from the hospital). I made some big progress here this weekend. Made two piles of clothes (right after baby, and few months after baby) to be tried on and/or donated as needed. I'm downsizing to a capsule wardrobe after this kid. All that is cluttered in here now is Nursery #2 stuff.
    4) Post Baby clothes: Washed all my nursing stuff. Got some piles on the higher shelves so the switch from massively preggo - nursing is easier. DONE.
    5) Food Prep - I have a list of what I'd like to make. I also have prepped "wish lists" so I have easy answers when people say "what can I bring over".
    6) Diaper/Hospital Bags - I have found my lists from when I had K and am working on them when I need brain breaks at work.
    7) Stuff to buy: 6-7 items we need pre-baby...nothing "critical"

So big picture...3 and 4 are DONE. Just need to wash the sheets in 3 - easy peasy.

All my shopping I plan to do while I have a sitter the 29th of January. This will be for DIY projects, Food Prep, Diaper/Hospital Bags (done already I feel) and lingering nursery stuff. Then I plan to tackle the bag packing that weekend. First half of February is DIY stuff and food prep. Leaves me just nursery assembly for the end of Feb! Fingers crossed.

Oh and I need to sort out my pump situation...forgot about that!!!

@Mrs D: Hooray! That's great news, and it makes me feel hopeful that B's transition will go as well (when we ever actually do it. I'd be happy keeping him in his crib forever because it makes me feel more like he's still my baby). And also, how do you find time do DO all this stuff? I was proud of myself for hemming the curtains and that took 20 minutes!

My husband told me yesterday "I'm feeling really motivated to paint the hallway" and I thought I might murder him. I told him if he was feeling "really motivated" to do something I had a long list - he could feel really motivated to paint and hang the new closet doors in the nursery, empty out the bookshelf, clean out the closet, find and install a closet storage system, or buy blinds to go in the window, but under no circumstances was he allowed to feel motivated to paint an area of the house that doesn't need painting. Plus, I pointed out, that his "feeling motivated" to paint the hallway meant my "being required" to take care of our son by myself for however long it took, which would be a long time because his projects always take much longer than anybody thinks to complete.

My husband chooses super weird times to get motivated to do random projects. On Saturday he was supposed to be entertaining B while I had a shower - I came out of the shower and he's on a step ladder in the nursery rehanging the curtain rod "because it seemed a little crooked" while B pulled all the clothes out of his dresser drawer.

That turned into a bit of a rant.

  35. Mrs D

    grapefruit / 4545 posts

@erinbaderin: I could have written that rant almost word for word! I have been busting my butt to get all of Ks clothes into bins, organized by age and what not. I have twelve 20 galloon storage totes...all I asked DH to do was take the bins to the basement...(just so I dont carry them or worse fall down the two flights of stairs). He has taken 4 down in 2 weeks...yet yesterday he spent an hour cleaning his golf clubs bc they were "so dirty it was driving him crazy"....my head exploded...he hasnt used the clubs in at least a month...and I know I have seen him clean them since then...WTF?!

  36. ksnow

    apricot / 371 posts

@erinbaderin: @Mrs D: omg I think we all have the same spouse. My husband is the same and I'm asking for help, but he picks out these random projects that are not a rush and spends forever on them...cleaning the grill. organizing DVDs onto a HD. GAH.

I have to be INCREDIBLY specific with my husband. Not, "hey, could you give me a hand in the nursery" but, "hey, I need you to hang those pictures in the nursery before the boys go down for a nap today" lol

  38. Mrs D

    grapefruit / 4545 posts

@erinbaderin: And I got so caught up in your rant (and my own) I didnt respond to your comment!

I get most stuff on the weekends done while DD naps. So the progress I made in the guest bedroom this weekend was made over the course of an hour (I make myself sit down the first 30 mins of her nap and relax).

I also try to tackle little projects after she goes to bed at night.

This week I will be working every night and all weekend (love my 80+ hour work weeks) so nothing will get done except basic necessities (sleeping, showering and eating).

Sorry I'm not able to check this thread very often but I catch up once in a while and send you all good thoughts!!

    A little update from me:
32 weeks now. We survived a tummy bug and 8 hour travel to Christmas and back and while we're healthy now, DS is still not napping/sleeping like he used to!

He's getting up earlier and won't nap past the 45 minute mark (that is not new), so frustrating!

Been working on baby boy #2's astronomy themed nursery for a month or so and it's almost done. Furniture is almost all put together! We are moving DS's dresser and glider into the new nursery and putting a bigger dresser and small IKEA couch in his room. These are tiny rooms but we are making the most out of them!

I've started physical therapy for my back (I have residual back/nerve pain from a ruptured disc in 2011) and been trying to bend less often and pick up DS less often. All of it seems to be helping!

Other than that, just excited to meet baby and hoping we can finish everything in time. We want to buy a minivan after our taxes are done and get new life insurance and pensions set up. Oh adulting, so not fun!

  40. Lilbear

@Mrs D: I'm having a lot of pelvic pain too. Mine is mostly my hip joints and lower stomach. I have found that standing in a hot shower helps, but once I step out, it slowly comes back. I also didn't have any of this with my first pregnancy. Just over 10 weeks to go for me, so this is going to be one long & uncomfortable 3rd trimester!

Has anyone tried prenatal yoga? Does it help with these aches & pains or is it already too late?
