@Sams Mom: @Mrs Lavender: @Phillybaby2013: @Shantuck:
I haven’t made the transition yet (I’m only 11 weeks). My work doesn’t know and I am not showing yet. I can tell I’ll have to transition earlier this time though. I didn’t have to wear any until roughly 20 weeks last time (first baby). That’s never gonna happen this time!

We found out we're having a boy. My oldest is a boy, second is a girl, and now #3 will be another boy. While I'm sure I'll love this little guy, I guess I was hoping for another girl in hopes that the younger two would play together and that I could re-use all that cute little girl clothing. Sounds silly saying it out loud... I'm sure one day I won't be able to imagine life without this little guy.

Woo, look at all the boy moms!!!
AFM, I’m in maternity jeans and just bigger tops/layers. Yay for early fall?
Anyone feel any movement yet? I keep thinking I might but then I doubt myself.

@Mrskerch2: I keep wondering if I'm feeling movement and then second guessing it...

I was just going to say, lots of boys!!
We PGS tested our embryos, so we knew at the time of transfer what we would have if it worked. I'm hoping to confirm it during our NT scan next week, then I'll let you all know!
No movement for me, yet.

Hi all,
Got our NIPT back today and everything came back normal. We also found out we are having a boy. I think everyone was hoping for another girl. I know my daughter was, but we will adjust and get excited.
As for clothing, tops for me are definitely tight already. I had lost some weight before getting pregnant so I am okay for pants. Hoping ppl at work just think I fell of the dieting wagon for awhile longer as i have only told my direct supervisor.
coffee bean / 37 posts
@beckysue: Congrats! I'm jealous. I'm DYING for a boy. I go for my NIPT tomorrow.
@Mrskerch2: @Shantuck: I'm definitely feeling some flutters. Could just be stretching, but it sure doesn't feel like it.
I started looking at new maternity clothes today, since I'll probably need pants in the next few weeks and I remembered why I despise them so much. I hate the patterns and styles and everything about them. ugh.

@msredbeansandrice: why does every top have to have a spaghetti strap tie?!??
I will admit, I did a few stitch fixes with my first and liked what I got there the best. This time around, I’ll be hitting up Poshmark first before turning to retail.

So I've been dealing with a migraine the last couple days, it comes and goes, but Tylenol doesn't really touch it. I messaged my doctor today about it, received a notification that his office had replied, but everyone I check the portal it won't bring up my messages .
I just want to know if there is anything else I can do.

@Sams Mom: lurking
Peppermint oil on temples and location of headache helps mine. But not sure if it would work on a migraine

Just had our NT scan yesterday, and everything looks good. I am relieved. We did the NIPT bloodwork the same day, so we will get the results in a week or two.
@msredbeansandrice: Definitely showing wayyy earlier this time. Just bought maternity pants, I am so uncomfortable right now!

@Sams Mom: Just dropping in. Hope you’re feeling better by now and don’t need this, but my OB recommends excedrin tension headache, which is excedrin migraine without the ibuprofen. It doesn’t work as well as my normal migraine meds (Imitrex or excedrin migraine in a pinch) but is def better than just Tylenol for the migraines I’ve had during pregnancy. When I’ve taken it the main part of the migraine usually clears in 5-6 hours and then I usually take another dose of meds during the hangover phase of my migraines and it helps a lot then.

I had my NT scan and thankfully everything looks good with the baby. My subchorionic hematoma annoyingly appears to have doubled in size rather than having gone away. The doctor didn't seem concerned. I also did genetic carrier screening this time (I declined with my prior pregnancies but I'm paranoid now that I'm turning 40 soon!) and found that I'm a carrier of a gene mutation that has has a pretty severe disease associated with it (POMGnT, which is a muscle, eye, and brain disease). The genetic counselor thought it was really unlikely my husband would have this as well but is nonetheless recommending that he be screened as well. She did note that it is unlikely my living children have this because it is so severe and would have manifested itself at birth. If my husband does screen positive for the same gene mutation, they would recommend amniocentesis. I'm not really worried about this at this point. According to the genetic counselor, most everyone screens positive for 1-3 genetic mutations.

@MamaBear87: @karenbme: my doctor ended up sending in a fioricet script for me to have on standby if it starts up again. I ended up taking a hot shower, more Tylenol, and drank a Dr pepper. It helped my at least get some sleep.
I'll have to get some peppermint oil to try out too.

PSA for people not fitting their regular jeans but not ready for maternity... I bought a pair of Old Navy Rockstar jeggings (the non-maternity kind with built-in sculpt so super stretchy) when I was postpartum with my daughter in 2016 to bridge the gap until I could wear my normal jeans again. I just pulled them out again and they are perfect for that transitional phase where you aren't ready for maternity pants yet but yet your normal pants are getting tight by the end of the day. Mine have no button/fly. They just pull right up and work great with longer tops.
apricot / 302 posts
@Shantuck: I just looked into these... I may have to try them! Do you think they are low enough to work once your belly starts to grow? I'm wondering if I should go up one size.
I've been using the hair tie trick to give myself some extra room with my jeans. I bought these maternity tank tops from Target to hide my zipper, they are AMAZING!
pear / 1767 posts
@Mrs Lavender: Mine are not low and definitely cover the belly area but they are super stretchy. I'm betting these will work until 20ish weeks and then I can move into my regular full panel maternity pants. You can for sure get more use out of them once the baby arrives, too. I had bought them because I can't stand wearing maternity clothing once the baby arrives.
Make sure you find the ones with "built-in sculpt" to ensure you get super stretchy ones. It looks like they are currently $24 on oldnavy.com. As for sizing, mine are definitely a size or two bigger than my regular size but I bought these when my daughter was a couple weeks old and I was all overall bigger back then. However, with the stretchiness, they still seem to work now.

OK experienced mommas... I need help with my baby registry. Est. due date is end of March, which will be near the end of winter on the East coast. Technically the start of spring, morning temps average in the 30s and afternoons in the 50s. March can be unpredictable. Are there any winter gear items/clothes I definitely need for baby? I would only be using them for such a short time so I'd like to avoid getting items I won't need. I'm clueless. TIA!

@Mrs Lavender: I got you!
Do not worry about clothes - people ALWAYS give you clothes whether you register for them or not. If you really feel like you need to feel covered, long sleeve footed pj outfits and long sleeve onsies were my go to for the first couple of months, regardless of what time of year it was.
We loved this infant seat cover for keeping babe warm from the car to the house or business. the key here is that it is a muffler that goes around the outside of the SEAT and does NOT go between the body and the seat. Between body and seat can affect how the seat performs and could impact baby safety. https://www.amazon.com/JJ-Cole-Seat-Cover-Pink/dp/B077C2GL53?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_3&th=1

@Mrskerch2: This is really helpful, thank you! I'm totally adding that car seat cover.
coffee bean / 37 posts
@Mrskerch2: @Mrs Lavender: I live in an extremely warm climate but I totally agree that people will give you clothes so don’t worry as much about registering. Love the car seat idea. Plus if you have friends with kids, you might also get hand me downs for those type of things that you might not use as much. I’ve already been offered so many things if we have a boy this time. And it looks like I won’t have to buy many maternity things.

@Mrs Lavender: DS2 is an early March baby and I really don't recall using the buntings and heavy suits alot if at all with him. DS1 was a February baby so I did have all that stuff already. We have something similar to the one that MrsKerch2 posted above. My guys lived in fleece footed sleepers for a long while and you could always layer warm blankets plus a fuzzy hat and mittens getting to and from the car on chilly days. I wouldn't go crazy on a ton of winter gear.
pear / 1767 posts
@Mrs Lavender: I'd probably wait on the buntings, car seat covers, etc. until the baby arrives and you can get a sense of what you need. My DD was a November baby and I live in Chicago and only pulled out the carseat cover on the very worst days in December/January/February (Chicago actually saw snow in May this year so I get the unpredictability of spring!). The rest of the time, I just threw a blanket on top of her as well as a hat, etc. I ended up seeing that a really cold weather patch was coming with my daughter and just ordered the carseat cover from Amazon and literally had it in hand the next day.

Thanks, ladies! I'm hoping I'll get some hand-me-downs once I start announcing to the rest of my circle. The price on some of these babies items are ridiculous!
What about diapers? What brands do you all like? How many diapers/sizes should I expect to have on hand once the baby is here?
grapefruit / 4492 posts
@Mrs Lavender: I loved Pampers swaddlers for NB & Size 1, but then switched to Huggies snugglers. I used honest for a bit, but had to size up faster than I cared to.
kiwi / 520 posts
@Mrs Lavender: I also like Pampers when they're tiny. At some point I switched over to Walmart's brand and had good luck with them. I feel like I used Target brand for a while too but then they changed them. I'll have to revisit the store brands when the time comes and see how they fare nowadays. Diapers are $$$.
pear / 1767 posts
@Mrs Lavender: With my first, we used Pampers Swaddlers and eventually Huggies. With my second, we've been on Costco's Kirkland brand from the very beginning. I'm a huge fan of the Kirkland brand. It's cheaper and works just as well as the other brands.

@Mrs Lavender: I also really liked the Amazon Mama Bear brand for the larger sizes but never tried the smaller sizes.
coffee bean / 37 posts
@Mrs Lavender: we used pampers swaddles then ultimately switched to Huggies snug and dry or snugglers. We also used target but they felt plasticy. I wouldn’t have more than 2 boxes of each size to start with. We were barely in newborns as my daughter was born at 8 lbs. we probably could’ve gone straight to size 1. .
grapefruit / 4492 posts
@msredbeansandrice: just out of curiosity, was your daughter very long? I was just talking with a friend yesterday about how my 9lb 8oz baby was in NB longer than I expected, but her 8 lb baby was barely in them. My son was 22" and her son was like 19.5"? I think.
coffee bean / 37 posts
@Sams Mom: Yes. Over 21 inches at birth and was 10 lbs at one month and 13 lbs at two months! She’s still 95th percentile!
grapefruit / 4492 posts
@msredbeansandrice: that sounds like my chunk! He was so lanky though, that even though he's 85th prevention for eight generally he looks a little scrawny because he's 99+ on height and head
coffee bean / 37 posts
@Sams Mom: oh yeah! Such a chunk. She was roly poly. I think a lot of it is baby shape and I also didn’t hesitate to size up to prevent leaks. My memory is not the best but I swear we only were in NB for less than a month. I adore a chubby baby and I hope this one is another!
