@travellingbee: YAY!!!! So glad the surgery was a success and L is feeling better!!!! I hope you all get some amazing sleep tonight!!!

@Smurfette: Poor R! I hope it's just a short 24-hour thing or something and she feels better soon!!

  2. Adira

Oh! Forgot to say, I think Xander is on the verge of being truly mobile!!! I went to the movies last night, but Hubs said he got up and crawled like 6 steps in a row before falling, and then he'd get right back up!

@Adira: me too! Breaking my heart. DH comes home tonight so we have to figure out who is going to stay home with her tomorrow.

So exciting!! He will be all over the house before you know it!!!

@Smurfette: I guess it might be time to break out the gates for the stairs!

@travellingbee: Glad everything went well. I hope you are all now able to get some much needed sleep.

@Adira: Wow, I'd be getting those gates up.

Isaac is trying so hard to get on his hands and knees. Today I put him in the position and he would rock back and forth and was so excited.

@Smurfette: I hope that R is feeling better.

@travellingbee: I was so excited to see your update on the ears just now! Such amazing news! I hope he continues to sleep well and fight off those pesky ear infections. Thank goodness for modern medicine. Have you and DH thought about anything you can do as a treat for yourselves after this long and difficult stretch of parenting?

@Smurfette: I hope her fever breaks soon! I'm glad DH will be home to help you out.

@Adira: I can't wait for you to get video of Xander crawling! Maybe he'll have mastered it by the weekend! Xander videos are the cutest!

@ALV91711: Go Isaac! It sounds like he's definitely getting closer!

@ALV91711: @QueensBee: Well she was feeling better till right before bed and she felt hot again. I gave her Tylenol, then she didn't even finish her bottle, and fell asleep 5 mins after I put her in the crib. That never happens. I hope she sleeps good and wakes up better.

Do y'all think teething could cause that high of a fever? Never had happened before but she was drooling more this afternoon then I have ever seen before. She soaked through a bib in an hour.

He still woke up a lot, but I guess that is to be expected after months of bad sleeping habits. At least he wasn't screaming in pain! This might be a long road back to normal sleep.

  9. travellingbee

    hostess / papaya / 10219 posts

@Smurfette: no teething shouldn't cause more than a 99ish fever. Sounds like a virus to me. But she might be teething at the same time .

  10. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@travellingbee: Did he seem more comfortable? But just waking out of habit?

I think it is a virus too. She woke up at 445, and semi went back asleep but when woke up coughing. She felt a little warm to me, 100, so I gave her more Tylenol. I sucked her nose out and finally got some stuff, so much snot. It was disgusting, but her nose isn't drippy, she just sounds stopped up. If the snot was super thick, what does that mean?

She stayed home with DH. Which breaks my heart that I had to come to work and couldn't be the one to stay home with her. I had to sneak out of the house cause she just keep wanting me.

@Smurfette: It's awful having a sick baby. I hope she feels better soon! At least it's almost the weekend so you should have plenty of time to snuggle with her.
@travellingbee: so glad the tubes are in!

Carter started clapping this morning! We've been trying to get him to do it for a few days and now when we say "yay" he starts to clap. So cute! He's also starting to get on all fours so he's really trying to crawl now.

  12. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@ALV91711: Rocking back and forth is the precursor to crawling!!!

@QueensBee: Aww, you're so sweet!! Guess it's time to break out the camera!

@Smurfette: I have heard that teething can cause a fever, so hopefully that's all this is! Though I didn't think it would get that high... not sure though.

@jodyblair: Yay clapping!!! We just had Xander's 9 month well visit and the pediatrician asked if he was clapping yet and he immediately started clapping at her! It was so cute and perfectly time, haha.

  13. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

Time for a little stats update on Xander! He's 17 lbs 6 oz (13th percentile) and 28.75 inches (59th percentile). And with that length update, it's almost time to switch to our convertible car seat!

@jodyblair: So fun!! I keep trying to get R to do it. She just smiles at me when we clap.
@Adira: Are they supposed to be clapping already?? He is growing great. He is crawling great so far!!

  16. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Not necessarily. She just asked if he was clapping. She also asked if he could pull himself up to standing, which he can't, but she didn't seem concerned.

  17. ALV91711

    pomelo / 5621 posts

@travellingbee: I'm glad he wasn't screaming. Hopefully it won't take him long to be sleeping in good stretches. Did he sleep in his crib last night?

@Smurfette: Poor R, hopefully she starts to feel better today.

@jodyblair: Yay for clapping. Sounds like in not too long all the babies will be crawling.

@Adira: Isaac loved watching Xander crawl! That is so cute that he clapped for the pediatrician. Isaac now just needs to learn to get onto his hands and knees on his own, he can almost get there from sitting.

@Smurfette: @Adira: We got asked about clapping and pulling up/cruising. I think they just ask because she didn't seem concerned that he didn't do any of these things.

Again last night with 3 wake ups but he slept until 7:15, going to bed at 6:30 last night. I can't complain about sleeping in.

@Smurfette: Oh man, I gagged when I read about R's super thick snot. Pete has some of the stickiest snot I've ever encountered. It's seriously like Krazy glue. These babies and their crazy snot. I'm so glad the Nose Frieda was able to help clear it out. You are a good mom for getting so much out! I'm not sure I could have done it!

I agree that it sounds more like a virus than a side effect of teething. I hope she's feeling better today and that she enjoys some bonding time with her dad. I can imagine it was hard to leave her though.

Pete's been waking up at 4am all week. Maybe we can have him and R skype each other at that hour while we sleep in until 6am! I'm going to try keeping him awake a bit later tonight to see it that helps. It's just so torturous trying to keep him up that last half hour because he's cranky and tired, and I'm also exhausted because I've been up since 4am and working all day. Sigh, we'll see how it goes.

@Adira: OMGGGGGG!! Love the video! He is totally crawling! Thanks for posting!!!! And his stats sound great!

@jodyblair: So exciting! We are trying to hard to get Pete to clap but he doesn't get it at all.

@travellingbee: I'm so glad he is more comfortable at night now. Fingers crossed you are the road to having a good sleeper soon!

@ALV91711: I forgot to answer your question from a few days ago but no, Pete actually doesn't startle too easily. He is a light sleeper so I know he's sensitive to sounds when he's snoozing but not when he's awake. Maybe it's because we live across the street from an elevated subway line that goes rumbling by every 5 minutes. Who knows?

I am counting down the minutes until the weekend here. We are finally getting our tree and holiday decorations up this weekend.

I noticed that Pete was getting a big belly and some neck rolls this week so I did an informal weigh-in using our bathroom scale yesterday. According to the scale, he's gained 3 pounds in the last two months! I knew he was looking like a chunk....

Oh also, I just saw another thread on introducing peanut butter and it reminded me that I think we are going to try it this weekend. I spoke to my school nurse about it a bit this week (she's not an allergist or anything but she does have to deal with a lot of allergies at a K-12 school), and she recommended putting a smidge on my finger and sticking my finger in his mouth on a Saturday morning, so I'll be with him for a while to notice any reactions. So... I'm nervous but I think we will try it tomorrow! And if that goes okay, we'll try shellfish next week and then I think we'll have covered most of the big ones. I will have Benadryl on hand for sure!

@QueensBee: Sorry to make you gag! But I wanted too as well when I saw it. Nasty stuff.

Seriously! They can talk to each other while we go back to sleep! This 5am crap is for the birds!

DH took her to the doctor cause she was pulling her ear this morning. Said that she just has a cold and it has to run it's course. He said she has been really sleepy so hopefully she is getting on the mend. I gave her Tylenol at 6 this AM and DH said she is just now starting to feel warm again, so he was going to give her some when they got home.

  22. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@QueensBee: I was going to ask her pedi about this at her 9 month appointment. I think I am going to scramble a full egg this weekend and see how R does with that. Did you try it yet?

    @Adira: Stud!

  23. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@QueensBee: Ugh, I'm too scared to introduce any of those common allergy foods now that Xander's allergic to milk! The allergist said that since he's so allergic to milk, he's more likely to have other food allergies too! Gahh!

  24. QueensBee

    pear / 1718 posts

@Adira: Serious stud! How do you get him to pose so perfectly for the camera?

I didn't realize that the milk allergy might make him a higher risk for others! So stressful! Did the allergist have suggestions for how/when to introduce common allergen foods?

@Smurfette: Oh yes, I forgot to mention when we tried whole eggs. We've been doing them for a few weeks now and he loves them. He probably has scrambled eggs for dinner every other night. They are so nutritious, easy to cook, cheap, and easy for him to eat... The perfect food! Do you think you will try them with R soon? And how is she feeling tonight?

Pete and R must be in cahoots because he also got sick today, although not nearly as bad as R's fever. He just got his super congested nose back and I had to break out the snot sucker again. Gag!

  25. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@QueensBee: She looks like she doesn't feel good at all. I put some baby Vicks on her feet and chest to try and help with the coughing. But I guess it wasn't enough I hear her coughing. Hopefully she falls asleep soon. I know she is tired.
I want to try egg this weekend!!
I hope P feels better. I seriously hate/love the Nose Frieda. DH won't do it.

    Hi Ladies!

Checking in real fast, while I have a moment. Came down with something yesterday - I think the stomach flu. Couldn't stop vomiting every 20-30 min. since after lunch yesterday. I finally took a Zofran I had from my pregnancy for m/s last night. I was reezing cold to the bones, chills and heat flashes. It was awful trying to take care of K in the midst of feeling so crappy. Today was a bit better, but still tired. I took Dramamine, ginger capsules, Benedryl, and Tylenol. Had to take K to her 9 month appt. and she's been passed out in her carseat ever since! Not sure if it's because of the very late nap, or maybe she got some of the Benedryl/Dramamine effects?

So K is 9 months today! Where is the time going?!
    Her stats:
    16.2 lbs
    27.4"
She's actually dropped 0.1lbs and the doctor wants me to feed more solids even though it's normal for the weight to taper when she's become more active.

Our holiday pics for tomorrow kind o got screwed. It's the only day the photog had left and it's supposed to rain all day. So we're moving the shoot indoors to our house. And maaaybe if the rain lets up, we can go outside for some pics. FX'd the rain stays away until Sunday!

I am super nervous about introducing the rest of the common allergens. Quinn does great with dairy, but she gets a rash after eating eggs...so now I'm convinced she's going to be allergic to other things I've been putting off nut butters for way too long.

@Adira: Yay crawling! Quinn decided today she was going to crawl, too! I am now equal parts excited and terrified haha. I really need to finish baby proofing. Also that picture is adorable!

@Smurfette: Poor bub :(. I hope she feels better soon.

@shopaholic:Oh I am sorry! A couple weeks ago DH had the stomach bug that's been going around , and he was SO sick. Luckily I managed to escape it, but Quinn got a super mild case for a day. I hope you feel better!

  28. ALV91711

Isaac has a rash all over his face and I can't figure out why. It started this morning around his mouth and by the time he went to bed his cheeks where very rosy as well as around the mouth and chin. He was kind of off today. He would act hungry but not nurse or eat solids and he was so sleepy but wouldn't nap. He had two good nursing sessions in the day and one before bed and he did eat a bit of dinner. Hopefully he's himself tomorrow. And hopefully he has a good sleep tonight.

@QueensBee: I have tried any foods that are common allergies yet. I'm kind of chicken too. Well, I guess we've done dairy, but that is it.

    @Adira: Handsome!

    @Smurfette: I hope she's feeling better tomorrow.

@shopaholic: I hope your feeling better, being sick and taking care of a baby is no fun. I really hope the rain stays away so you can do your photos outdoors.

@shopaholic: Awwwe, I'm so sorry that you are so sick. I can't imagine feeling that crummy and having to take care of LO. How are you feeling today? I really hope K and your hubs don't catch anything!

How did the photos go today? Did the weather cooperate?

@ALV91711: Hmm that sounds like a real mystery. Any update on the rash? How is he acting today?

We ended up trying shellfish this morning instead of peanut butter, because my dad happened to order scallops at a restaurant last night and he send me home with the leftovers. I figured that since i had the shellfish in the fridge, I should try that this weekend, just for convenience. So far, so good. And, he absolutely loved it!

And now I am going to put the Mr. Wiggles to bed so we can decorate the tree tonight in peace. He slept for almost 3 hours this morning and then took another hour nap in the Ergo while we were out in Manhattan. I hope he sleeps well tonight too!

Alright, Happy Saturday to all! Hope all the babies and mamas are feeling good!

@shopaholic: Hope you are feeling better. I am sure the pics are going to be great. Can't wait to see them!
@ALV91711: Did he eat anything new? Is the rash gone?
@QueensBee: Yay! No fish allergies! Have fun decorating!!

R seems to be feeling better. Didn't give her Tylenol till tonight. She was so tired tonight, after waking up at 445 yet again. At least she sleeps through the night for the most part. But I am so tired. I took an hour and half nap this morning when she took her nap. DH said she woke up after 30mins but he left in the crib and within 15mins she was back asleep and slept for an hour and half.
Her nose was a snot factory all day. And OMG the drool is insane. I really hope this tooth comes in soon!!
Most of your saw on IG but we took her to see Santa since we had to run to the mall. Of course she spit up majority right before we left so her outfit wasn't as cute. But she did great. Didn't cry just looked at him.

  32. ALV91711

    pomelo / 5621 posts

@QueensBee: @Smurfette: The rash seems to be a combination of his skin being dry and all his drool irritating it. His face was fine this morning and then all the areas that were getting drool got redder throughout the day. Going to have to go to the store tomorrow and get some sort of lotion for his face.

Last night he only got up twice and he was his normal self today.

@QueensBee: That is awesome that he liked scallops. Have fun decorating the tree.

@Smurfette: Glad she is feeling better.

  33. QueensBee

    pear / 1718 posts

@Smurfette: Loved that photo of R with Santa! She is just too cute! Her little tights and shoes were adorable. I never would notice that her outfit had a little spit up!

How did she sleep? How's the drool/fever/nose today?

@ALV91711: Yes, Pete gets some facial irritation on heavy dool/snot days too. We put a little olive oil on it in the morning and at night and that seems to help a lot. I hope it clears up soon!

I feel like slacker mom but we don't have plans for Pete to meet Santa this year. We are just so busy and, in classic NYC-style, all the Santa's at the big department stores have like a 2 hour wait line. Maybe next year. We did pass by some real-life reindeer yesterday so I'm going to count that as his Santa visit, even though he was asleep in the Ergo!

  34. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@QueensBee: I changed her outfit before we left the house. She had one striped tights, jean skirt, and onesie. It was way cuter then the Santa onesie and jean dress. I love the tights though. Trumpette, so only looked like she had on shoes. She woke up multiple times last night but put herself back to sleep, and then slept tiill 630 this morning. Nose isn't as runny this morning and she doesn't feel hot at all. So hopefully she is on the mend.

Two hours? That is crazy!!! We waited 15 mins.

@QueensBee: I took 83 pictures!! And then picked the best, haha.

As far as the allergies, the only suggestion the allergist had was to just introduce new foods one at a time so we can know what he's allergic to if he has a reaction. We actually were trying to give Xander some homemade oatmeal bread yesterday and today that had no milk, but it has wheat, and he broke out into a rash when he ate some of it, so I think he might be allergic to wheat.

I put some pasta and green beans on R's tray tonight and she wouldn't touch them. Then I put them in a bowl and feed them to her and she ate it ALL up. I had to get her more.
I think she was feeling better, she was super tired today but seemed in a better mood.

But she went ALL day without spitting up!!!!
