@QueensBee: Don't feel bad. I took DS to see Santa last year. He was nearly one. Although he came really close to it, he didn't burst into tears or start screaming. But the experience really made me question why it's such a big deal. So no Santa this year or the foreseeable future for either kids. Much to my ILs dismay.

@Smurfette: That's so awesome about the spit up AND that she ate REAL food, even if you had to feed it to her! Maybe I should try that with Xander!

@Adira: I guess she is lazy!
Also I tried egg this morning. Just put on the tray. I think the only piece she ate DH put in her mouth. Everything else ended up in her lap. She ate a whole banana though!!

@Adira: Were there any other ingredients it could have been a reaction to?

@Smurfette: Was that the first time for egg? Did you do the whole egg or just the yolk?
@NaturallyCathy: At this age it is just a photo op. It will be fun when they actually understand what is going on and get excited. It was really cute seeing the little kids and some of them were putting letters to santa in the mail box they had.
Isaac has had almost no interest in finger foods the last few days, he just wants to be fed. Everything lands on the floor. Except puffs, I think he would eat them all day if I let him!

@ALV91711: I did the whole egg. And R is with I, more puffs the better.

@boots: Awe, I didn't realize she had an egg allergy. I would be nervous too. At least, they say, that the initial reaction to a new food allergen isn't supposed to be too severe, so most likely it would be a mild one. Good luck!
@Smurfette: Awesome that she is feeling better and that she slept until 6:30am! Maybe this virus will help get her morning sleep back on track!
Those little trumpette tights are so cute. I'm glad they survived the spit up!
Too funny that she will gobble it up if you put it in her mouth. Maybe she gets frustrated after a while of trying it for herself.
@NaturallyCathy: Good to know I'm not alone! I can see us being more of a family who writes to Santa rather than one who goes to meet Santa. It will probably just depend on the length of the lines and our weekend schedule. December is such a busy month, it's hard to imagine when to fit it in.
@ALV91711: Sounds like we have some puffs addicts on this board. Pete is obsessed too!
@Adira: Oh no! How will you find out for sure? Do you give wheat again or take him in for another test?
I wasn't feeling great today. Nothing specific or terrible but a general feeling of meh with no appetite. All I want is to stay home by myself tomorrow and watch the Today Show on the couch with a cup of tea, but I don't think I'm ill enough for a sick day. I think I'm going to get to bed now so I can sleep it off. Have a good night!

@jodyblair: I'm not positive what all the ingredients to the bread was - my mom made it. I know she made sure it had no dairy, so that wouldn't have been an issue. And Xander has had oatmeal before. And I know wheat is a common allergy, so I'm assuming that's what it is...
@QueensBee: Not sure... I'll probably try something with wheat again and watch his reaction. Or maybe I should call our allergist... ugh, I don't know. Allergies suck.

We finally tried scrambled eggs this morning. He wasn't so sure about feeding them to himself but gladly took them off a spoon.

@ALV91711: I think I am going to have to try it next weekend this way.

Have I already mentioned that I THINK Xander is starting to kiss (although not Mama, God forbid he actually show ME some affection, the little jerk)?? I was playing with him with a stuffed teddy bear and having the teddy bear give him kisses and then he grabbed the teddy bear and opened his mouth and sort of pressed his mouth to the teddy bear. I THINK he was trying to give him a kiss??
Also, he's started reaching for people!! Yesterday, I was holding him and I brought him over to Hubs and was all "Say hi to Daddy!" and he just reached out to Hubs and tried to fling himself to him from my arms, haha. Then Hubs and I were both standing up and I said "Okay, I guess Daddy will feed you" and Hubs goes "Do you want food?" and Xander turned to me and reached for me! I guess he knows I'm usually the one that feeds him??
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Yay! I always wonder is R really kissing or yet trying to put one more thing in her mouth. Haha!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Yeah, it's hard to know for sure, because they're definitely not REAL kisses! But he does them so gently and just kind of presses his mouth to things, so I THINK he's given them kisses!
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Adira: Kissing is so cute! I think when they put their mouth gently on something it is kisses. Isaac likes giving kisses to the sesame street decals on his wall.
Tonight Isaac got onto his hands and knees from laying down! Twice in a row. And this was just after I had told DH that he was trying to get his butt off the ground today. It isn't going to be long now!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ALV91711: Yay!!! He's so close!!! Next up is the rocking back and forth!!!

@Adira: I hope he waits another week or so until after we move to get crawling. Right now it would just be not so safe for him to get around.

So Quinn has made some crazy leaps in the movement department in this last week. It started last week when she discovered she could go from being on her tummy to sitting. Then, a few days later she started crawling! And now she keeps pulling herself to stand. Girlfriend is on a mission.
@Adira: That is exactly how Quinn gives kisses! She usually plants them right on my face
@ALV91711: It's gonna happen soon! Last week Quinn started going from her tummy to sitting, and 2-3 days ago she was crawling! Now she's all over the place.
pomelo / 5621 posts
@boots: That is crazy how fast it all happens. I'd love for him to sit himself up.
@Adira: has Xander got himself to sitting again?
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@ALV91711: I think it took R like a month, month and half, when she first did planks to full on crawling.
@boots: R was the same way, crawled and then within a week pulled herself standing. These babies are determined!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ALV91711: He probably will! Xander's JUST starting to crawl and he still doesn't go very fast or get very far and I think he was up on all fours a couple weeks ago.
And yes - Xander can now get to sitting! Now that he can get up onto all fours, he sort of pushes himself backwards onto his butt! It's so cute.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@boots: I've been trying to get Xander to give ME kisses, but he won't do it! Apparently kisses are reserved for stuffed animals and books!
Also, I THINK we're down to 4 feeds (bottle or nursing) a day! Xander often can go 4 hours between nursing now, so we often don't get the 5th feed in unless his naps are wonky and he misses dinner. Also, now that he's on two naps a day, we're getting better at giving him dinner and he's actually been eating it! Still no finger foods yet though.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: So cute about him sitting! Awesome he is down to 4 bottles/feeds a day. Does that mean you won't have to stress as much about pumping?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Yes!! I definitely don't feel as stressed about pumping! Now that he's nursing in the morning and having three bottles at daycare, I do my normal pumps during the day and then pump instead of nurse him in the evening (6:00 and 9:00) and I get plenty! Plus my freezer is starting to be overrun with milk, so I actually wouldn't mind having to dip into it!!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: I'm nervous about going 12 hours without draining the ladies! I already feel pretty full in the morning... I think 3 more hours of milk would be uncomfortable! Plus I'm not making THAT much extra milk... I'd be worried that cutting out that session will make my supply drop too much...
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Your body would adjust after a couple days. What if you just pumped at 730 instead of 6 and 9?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: I'm scared!! Maybe I'll start doing that when he's 10 months... hahaha I'm a wuss
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Haha! I would looking for every excuse to not pump.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: haha, I actually don't mind pumping - it gives me an excuse to veg in front of the TV for 30 minutes! Plus now that I know Xander's allergic to milk, I REALLY want to make sure I can BF until he's one so that I don't have to deal with finding a formula he can eat!

We tried kiwi at lunch today and he loved it. Also he had his first red meat at dinner. DH makes deer jerky and gave him a strip. He loved it and chewed on it for a long time. Even got a piece off. I think this will be a good teething food.
@Adira: that is great that you are down a session. Has he been having lunch as well or just dinner?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ALV91711: He always has lunch and we try to do dinner as well if his nap work out. I think he's had both every day for the past week!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
So there are two new babies in R's room. 7 weeks and 8 months. The teacher this afternoon said the 7 week old wants to be held all the time but the 8 month old cries ALL day long. He is there 9-1 till January when he starts full time. Her teacher said it is really loud so all the babies, but esp. R are having issues napping. Super! As if we didn't have enough issues.
I feed her turkey lunch meat and avocado for dinner. She loved it!! Then I tried the Zoli cup and she did it! Then DH got home and she wouldn't do it for him.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Oh man! That blows that there are new kids in R's room messing with her sleep! That girl just can't catch a break!!
Ahhh, I'm jealous of what R is eating!! I snuck a puff into Xander's mouth today while I was feeding him a puree and he gagged it back up and looked at me annoyed. Oh well.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: I know! She took a 40 and 30 min naps. So bad.......
I can picture him spitting out the puff! She wasn't super happy with the food at first. I gave her some purées and then she was fine eating them. I also ate some so maybe seeing me eat helped too.

I'm so behind on here! So many posts!
@Adira: 4 feeds a day?! J is nursing like a million times a day. If I let her I think she would nurse 20+ times a day lol I really need to buckle down on the solids. It's not that she doesn't like them, she's just kind of indifferent. If I give them to her she like it but if I don't she doesn't care.
I'm pretty sure J is working on her two upper teeth! She cut her two bottom ones a couple of weeks ago and was a little fussy but nothing like this! Multiple wake ups all night and so much crying. I think I can see them under the surface but it's hard to get a good look. I just wish those babies would pop on out and get it over with!
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Adira: Soon enough he will love finger food. I think sharing off our plates helps Isaac with eating food. Usually we have dinner after him, he eats at 4:30! But at lunch I try and cut up some fruit for us to share and he likes that.
@Smurfette: Poor girl, hopefully she can get some decent naps soon. That is awesome that she did the zoli cup!
@Purpledaisy: I hope those teeth come through soon.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: I've tried to demonstrate to Xander by eating some of his puffs, but he just looks suspicious! And I think he knows he should be eating them because he'll pick them up and bring him to his mouth and then just drop them!!
@Purpledaisy: Xander's the same way with solids. He seems pretty indifferent about them. But at our 9 month well visit, our pediatrician said she wanted him on 3 meals and 2 snacks by 12 months, so I'm trying to buckle down and feed him more! And as far as being down to 4 feeds, I think it's probably because Xander can consume a decent amount in one sitting! I suspect he might have Mama's big belly, despite his low weight, haha. J probably has a smaller stomach and can't eat as much at a time so has to nurse more frequently. That's my guess anyway! And I hear you on teeth - I think Xander's working on some too because he keeps waking up crying and then we give him Tylenol and he falls back asleep. Why do teeth hurt our babies so much???
@ALV91711: Yeah, we have the same problem with dinner! Lately Hubs has been coming home from work around 7:00, which is when Xander goes to bed (if he doesn't go to bed earlier), so I've been feeding Xander dinner as soon as we get home from daycare at 5:30! I should try to be better at eating together for lunch on the weekends though - maybe that will help!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Purpledaisy: R is down to 4 bottles a day as well, but she eats 3 solid meals a day. She is on an every 2 hour schedule, she is eating. It seems to be helping with her spit up.
Teething is seriously the devil's work. I think after a good 2 months, R is finally about to get her 4th top tooth. It was pretty white this morning.
@ALV91711: We are going to try some ground beef this weekend.
@Adira: Sometimes R brings food to her mouth, misses her mouth and then still chews.....babies are weird.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: haha, yeah, that's what Xander does! He makes chewing motions and brings food to his mouth, but doesn't actually put anything in there!!!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
Oh! I forgot to tell you guys!!! I have a CRAWLER!!!!
Last night after I got Xander ready for bed, I put him down on the floor in his room so I could wash my hands. At the same time, Hubs came home, so we were talking in the hallway outside of Xander's room and we look over and Xander's crawling to us! He was slow going, but he made it all the way from the middle of his room to us in the hallway without falling over! It was so cute!
