@Adira: who knew we would get so excited about going to the bathroom?!?!

@Smurfette: hahaha, maybe I was more excited than I should be, but it was just so nice to just go to the bathroom without the struggle!

Hey ladies! Just checking in to say the second ultrasound went just fine. Still had a strong heartbeat and measured a weeks worth of growth. It still has me a little nervous because their timing of conception just doesn't make sense but I'm trying not to worry about it. They did give me a new due date of April 13 so I'll be leaving you ladies for the April 2013 board. Of course I'll still come back and poke around and see how you all are! Wishing a happy and healthy rest of the journey to you all!

@savanarunner: Oh wow! I'm sooooooooo glad that your baby is growing and still has a strong heart beat!!! I wonder if maybe those first couple weeks just started slowly or something. Maybe you implanted really late?? Who knows!!! But it's definitely a good sign that during a week's time, your baby grew a week's worth and has a strong heart beat! I'm rooting for you and that baby!!!
Wishing you happy and healthy months until April!!

@savanarunner: So glad the U/S went well! Enjoy the April board and don't be a stranger here! xoxo
We did our first weekly bump photo today. Oooh boy, I'm not sure how much is belly (I needed to lose a few pounds anyways) and how much is baby, but do I ever look preggers in that photo! LOL!!!
I found out today ANOTHER one of my friends is pregnant and due in April! I'm so excited to have so many friends having babies, I just wish they were the ones who lived a bit closer (so far 2 of 3 are many thousands of miles away, boo!), but exciting nonetheless and I'm so happy to have other first time mommas to chat to during our pregnancies!!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Mrs. Mousie: Oh my gosh, I totally look pregnant too! One of my friends even commented on my ever growing stomach! YIKES! I'm pretty sure MOST of it is belly, since thin people tend not to show this early, and I already had a bit of a belly to begin with! But now my friends who know I'm pregnant are associating my fat stomach with baby instead of what it really is! Oh well... maybe it's better they think I've got a big baby than that I'm fat?
Oh wow, that's awesome you friends that are pregnant!!! I'm so jealous! I wish I had some pregnant friends, but either I have friends that recently had kids or aren't close to having kids, so no one will be that close in age to my kid. Oh well.

ARRRRGH!!! As of yesterday I am 13 weeks along and have been feeling slightly better the past couple of weeks. But last night I slept badly, then woke up at 5 a.m. feeling like I had to puke. So finally got up to do that and dry heaved up some spit for a few minutes since there was nothing in my stomach, and today I just feel blah...like I could puke some more, but I've been popping Zofran to avoid it. I'm so bummed, I thought this was supposed to go away!

@Adira: Can't wait to hear how your ultrasound goes tomorrow!!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Thank you!!!!
My appointment went really well! I had a routine OB exam first and we FINALLY got to hear the heartbeat!!!! 154 bpm. And then after that, we had the ultrasound. The baby wasn't really in the right position, so I'm not sure if the tech was able to get the measurements she was looking for, but she said the baby was measuring exactly how it should be and she printed a bunch of profile pictures for us, so I think it went well! It was really fun to see!
Also, NOT transvaginal ultrasound this time, yay!

Had my first appt. with a midwife last Thurs. Was ok- got a new picture of my little cashew!! I decided that I dont like the midwife I saw- so I am glad she isnt on my birthing team... She made me feel pretty bad about my weight while I was there- and I have been stressing and worrying about it since. My goal before I go in next time (in 3 weeks) is to try and lose 5-7lbs. I know I wasnt the perfect weight when we concieved- but I had lost 40 lbs and was feeling pretty good about myself- and now I am feeling pretty crappy and dont really want to go back to the dr.... oh well.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@cheert16: Glad your appointment went okay and you got a picture of your baby!!! Sorry the midwife made you feel rotten about your weight! That's kind of unhelpful at this point. I'm not sure if you should actively try to lose weight though - I'm just not sure what's healthy for the baby. You should talk to someone about that first I think. I was also overweight before conceiving, so the midwife I saw today told me I should try to not gain more than 25 lbs overall, but she was nice about it.

@Adira: Yaaaay, so glad that your visit went well and that you have pictures! And that you got the good kind of ultrasound.
@cheert16: Sorry that you didn't like your midwife, but I guess it's good to find that out now! I'm not a medical expert, but I don't think you're supposed to try and lose weight while pregnant, regardless of the number you started out at...if I were you, I would double check with a doctor or midwife (one you don't hate!) before changing anything.
@aprk: Yes, feeling better- thanks for asking! I only took one Zofran all weekend, so that's a good sign. I still have high hopes that the worst is over, but I get bummed when I relapse. I think I just need to accept that I'll probably never feel normal while pregnant!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Yay!!! Glad that everything went well. Are you going to tell your parents now? Aren't you 12 weeks?
@cheert16: Sorry that she made you feel bad about your weight. I would check with your doctor about trying to lose weight. I always heard that wasn't healthy for the baby
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: I'm 13 weeks today!!!! So crazy! And YES, we're FINALLY going to tell our parents! We are hoping we can visit them all in person over the Labor Day Weekend (Hubs parents are divorced, so that will take two stops). We're just trying to work out the kinks to see everyone (without it raising suspicions) so we can finally tell them! I'm soooooooo excited!!
Has anyone else had their first trimester screenings yet? I'm curious if my NT number is normal or not. I'm 13 weeks and it was 2.6mm. The ultrasound tech didn't say anything about it.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: So exciting! I still can't believe that you managed to keep it a secret up until now. I am finding it so hard to keep my mouth close. I have mine next Friday, but I don't think that I get all the results back right away. My friend goes to the same practice and she said that she thinks it took a couple weeks to get the results back.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Yeah, I don't actually know when I'm going to get the results for mine back either. I just saw the paperwork the tech filled out said 2.6mm. I had blood drawn as well, so I'm assuming there's some stuff they do with that and then the number and then they tell me SOMETHING. I think you get a ratio back maybe with your chances? I don't actually know.
Have you not told your parents yet either??

My caller ID just came up with the number for my midwife, and my heart started racing! I just had my first appointment/bloodwork/ultrasound last week and I was scared they were calling with bad news.
Turns out I have a "slight UTI" and they called in a Rx for Macrobid for me. Glad it wasn't anything more serious, but sort of surprised that it took them almost a week to tell me!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@aprk: Geeze! Way for them to scare you like that!!! I'm surprised it took them so long to tell you that you have a slight UTI! When I had my appointment today, they took a urine sample and tested right in front of me and told me I was fine.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Oh no, I told my parents at 6 weeks. I couldn't wait. My Mom and I talk like everyday, so the fact I waited 2 weeks was hard enough. We told DH's family at 9 weeks, when we saw them. We also have told close friends and siblings. I am finding it super hard to not tell my extended family. We are all super close, so hard. Waiting till I see them again, which won't be till 9-22. Seems so long, but we were going to wait until after the next ultrasound anyway, so just a couple weeks after that. I almost said something to like 3 coworkers today!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: hahaha, yeah, it's really hard to keep it a secret! At least you've told your parents and friends so you can talk to them about it! I've told my best friends, but no one else. I think work probably suspects because I'm totally getting fat and I keep missing work, but oh well! I can't tell them before my parents!

@Adira: I am feeling so fat in my work pants today. I was on vacation, in St Thomas, last week. So I wore bathing suit and dresses the whole time. Pants are not my friend anymore. I feel like I looked like I have gained 10lbs.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: I'm the same way! I had to get the Belly Band to hold my pants up, because if I try to button them, I'm sooooooo uncomfortable and I have the worst muffin top! I'm also jealous of your awesome vacation!!!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Is it bad that I have the belly band and I still feel like a fatty? These were my fat pants, I went to button them this morning and I was like yeah no way any more. It doesn't help that we were totally bums on vacation and didn't work out at all. The gym is calling my name tonight for sure.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Oh damn, that reminds me, I wanted to go to the gym... that's not happening! And no worries - even though the Belly Band is more comfortable, I definitely feel like my stomach is sticking out even more because my parents are no longer holding everything in! So you're not alone!

@Adira: turns out she called in the prescription on 8/23 (two days after my appointment) but the nurse didn't call me until this morning. Bad system? Did they expect the pharmacy to call me? Weird.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@aprk: Oh yeah, that's really weird!!! I'm surprised she didn't call you before (or after) calling in the prescription! Hope your UTI clears up quickly and this doesn't happen to you again!

@Adira: thanks! I'm choosing to be positive that it's being treated, considering I didn't have any symptoms.

Hey there, March moms! I've officially decide to be a two board crasher! With the news of twins, my April 6 due date is pretty much a pipe dream. I've read that on average twins are born at 35 weeks, which would be the beginning of March. I'm hoping to make it a little bit longer than that, but we'll see.
Can I be a late joiner? Pleeeeaaaaaase!!
grapefruit / 4669 posts
@Mrs. Blue: Of course you can, welcome to the March board! I must confess, I'm a little jealous of your twins! DH and I had our fingers crossed for twins for weeks, even after 2 ultrasounds that clearly showed 1 baby... Congrats again!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Mrs. Blue: Welcome! I am a little jealous of your twins too. We both have them in our family and DH really wanted them. Would have been nice to get it all done with at once. We have only one little nugget in there.

@Mrs. Blue: Golly, now we have the same due date month too! It's uncanny. Welcome!
