@Adira: Men are stranger. DH didn't' get why I wanted to tell my parents right away either.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: I'm glad it's not just mine! Hubs is also not really thinking ahead. He doesn't really think there's a reason for his parents (or anyone) to know before the baby comes, but I'm thinking about how his family will want to have a baby shower, so they'll need some time to plan that, haha!

@Adira: I think cause we aren't showing yet, it doesn't seem real to mine. Even though he heard the heartbeat at the ultrasound.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Yeah, I'm not sure it feels real to mine either. I'm kind of showing, but I think it's mostly bloat. Baby's not big enough to really cause much to show I think. Hubs also heard the heartbeat and was there during my ultrasound, but I suspect it won't REALLY feel real for him until there's a real live baby to care for!

Just got back from another appointment. I was pretty nervous b/c my last appt was 4 weeks ago and I didn't know what to expect. The dr. took out the doppler and immediately heard the heartbeat, "that was easy!" she said.
Then she did a vaginal ultrasound to measure the baby and the baby was on target from my last visit, measuring at almost 4 cm! The baby was kicking and moving, making it hard to take a photo, but alas the dr. printed a photo for me to keep. Yay!
How are my March 2013 mamas doing?

@cokiezombie: That's great, so glad to hear the good news! I think nervous is the normal way to feel between appointments--maybe it'll be easier once we can feel kicks!
I must confess, I'm a little jealous of you ladies with your recent ultrasounds! My last one was at almost 8 weeks, my next one will be at like 19 weeks or so. I'm still secretly hoping that there are undiscovered twins--maybe this is why I'm still nauseated!
FYI: I learned while watching Big Bang Theory the other day that nauseated, not nauseous, is the correct way to describe how one is feeling.

@cokiezombie: Yay for good appointments! I am counting down till mine next Friday. Will be 5 weeks in between, so long!
@tororojo: How come you have to wait so long? Are you not doing any of the screening tests? I wanted to do them, mostly just so we can see our little nugget again. I am watching Big Bang Theory right now. DH gets annoyed cause I watch it ALL the time.
grapefruit / 4669 posts
@Mrs. Blue: I know it's overwhelming at times, but I would love twins! We have several sets in our extended family, and 2 sets of triplets, so I know it can be done...although I do NOT want triplets!
@Smurfette: Ya know, it didn't occur to me that that's why I'm going for so long without an ultrasound--we skipped the first trimester screening. I just thought my doctor had a weird schedule! DH got me into Big Bang, we've been watching seasons on DVD and I like to think I'm getting smarter...

@tororojo: You're right that it's very exciting! We're looking forward to twice the fun!

I have my NT screening on Wednesday and I'm starting to get nervous! We have a genetic appointment and then ultrasound - is there anything else that happens besides the ultrasound?!?
apricot / 286 posts
@sheskrafty: I just scheduled my NT screen for the following Monday (Sep 10!). The coordinator said we'll see a genetic counselor first (10-15 min) followed by the u/s (40ish minutes). Good luck at yours! I'm kinda nervous about mine too... >,<

I found a picture of a famous March momma: http://celebritybabies.people.com/2012/08/31/holly-madison-pregnant-baby-belly-first-photo/?xid=rss-topheadlines
Do you girls think we should start posting bump pics on this thread? I was thinking of taking one today since I am starting to feel a little poochy. I had 3 chocolate donuts, so that should help! To be continued.

@tororojo: my constant intake of garlic bread is really helping me in the bump department

I changed my mind about a bump pic, there's no bump. I haven't been taking Zofran as much for the past week and have lost a little weight (pooping...) but maybe soon I will have a bump! How is the weekend going for everyone? I started an Amazon registry but made it private for now. Still have lots of work to do but that's a little something accomplished!

New "symptom" (more like complaint) this weekend - its uncomfortable to sit up, on the couch, in the car. I am really short waisted, so I'm really curious to see how this little one is going to grow ... mostly out I'm thinking! Off to lie down again ...

@Adira: hope your telling family this weekend is going great!!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Thank you!!!! We actually just got home from our weekend of spreading the news! We decided to frame the ultrasound pictures and wrap them and give them as gifts to the parents. We told Hubs' mom on Saturday. She immediately started SOBBING, she was so happy! We then told his dad on Sunday, and he was also excited! Then we told my mom today and her response to open the picture was: "Are you kidding me???" I think she was starting to think she would never be a grandmother! Everyone was sooooooo excited and happy! It was a wonderful weekend!!!

@Adira: Yay!! So glad that everyone is so excited!!!

So... I'm able to look at my test results and stuff on-line, so I logged in today to see if there were any updates and this is all there is:
Trimester 1 Profile - Screen Negative
I'm ASSUMING that means our baby doesn't have Downs Syndrome or Trisomy 18, right????
grapefruit / 4669 posts
@Adira: That's what I would think! But I'm no expert. I guess you can call to double check, though!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: That is what I would assume but I have no clue about how the results read. I have mine on Friday.
persimmon / 1165 posts
@adira - I would assume your baby doesn't have those, but I'd call and confirm.
Just got back from the NT test. Had genetic counseling first and was offered a new test called a cell-free fetal test. It's a new test (been around since October) and three companies do it. They basically take your blood and can tell you with 99% accuracy if your baby has Downs, trisomy 18 (97%) or trisomy 13 (~90%). Because I still wanted the ultrasound I turned down the test for now. The only downside is you have to pay $235 out of pocket- which isn't a lot for peace of mind. I guess you have to be over 35 to be offered this test. There is a 2 week waiting period for results.
I had my ultrasound and the baby was keeping its hand near its face so the tech couldn’t get an accurate reading but the doc said the fluid in the neck looked normal. Because they couldn’t get an accurate measurement, the accuracy of the NT screen goes down to 78%? So I need to talk about it with DH, but I’m pretty sure I’ll forgo the second phase of blood testing associated with the NT screen and just get the cell-free test.
It was absolutely amazing to see the baby moving around and flipping about – it already looks like a little hell-raiser!!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@sheskrafty: Oh wow, that new test sounds pretty cool!!! Yeah, if you can afford to do that, you might as well for the peace of mind it will provide you!! Our baby was also not in a great position, but the ultrasound tech just kept pushing on my stomach until he/she moved into a better position. That's a bummer that your screen is only 78% accurate though - so annoying! At least you got some cool pictures, right??

I just took the new test -called Maternity21 and it also tells you the gender, which I found out yesterday. Technology is amazing!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@lawgrl: That's so cool!!! How far along are you? Is it just a blood test?
pea / 5 posts
It is a blood test - somebody mentioned the cost (around $250 or so) and they tell you with 99% accuracy whether there are those three genetic issues and they can see if there is a Y chromosone. I am 13 weeks right now
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@lawgrl: That is so cool! Did you get the results yet? So jealous you know the gender or will soon!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@lawgrl: Wow, that's so cool! My doctor's never mentioned this test, but my guess is they don't do it yet.

Hello everyone! I'm new to this site. I'm pregnant with my first, due in March! I'm 12 weeks and I get my first ultra sound on Tueday! I'm so excited to see the baby! It will finally feel real once I get to see it and hear the heart beat Im jealous of you guys who got to hear the heart beat and get an ultra sound earlier in your pregnancy! Good luck all! xo

@bluekiwi: Welcome and congratulations on your pregnancy! I hope your ultrasound goes smoothly and you get LOTS of pictures!

Is anybody else feeling achey ... all the time? It seems like if it's not my belly (which is always is), it's my back or my hip or my head. I guess it's just growing pains?
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@aprk: my legs are all the time. But I also have restless leg syndrome and it seems to be worse since getting pregnant. Working out helps with it though. I sleep much better on the days/nights that I hit the gym.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@aprk: Yes! My back hurts all the time! I think it's everything moving around to make room for the baby.

So I told my boss today!!!
He was walking by my cube, so I hopped up and said "Hey, can I meet with you real quick?" We walked to his office and I shut the door and we both sat down. He looked really nervous!!! I think he was worried I was going to quit, haha. So I just said "I just wanted to let you know that I'm currently three months pregnant." And he broke into this HUGE grin and was like "That's FANTASTIC! I'm so excited for you!" I was so surprised at how happy he was for me! Then he just told me how to contact HR to figure out the FMLA stuff and that if I needed help with anything to let him know. It went so well!
