@Adira: Yaaaaay! That's a relief, I'm glad telling your boss went well!

@tororojo: Me too!!! I was sooooooo nervous because he seems like such a guy's guy, you know? Like he doesn't seem like he would get sappy about babies at all. But he was sooooo thrilled for me, so it was such a relief! Have you told your boss yet?

@Adira: So glad that it went well! I am really nervous about this. Going to wait a couple more weeks. I just got a new boss, it hasn't been announced yet that I am moving. I don't know him at all, he has only been with the company for 2 months. I have meet with him once so far.

@Adira: Yep, the secret is out! My work is really relaxed and I announced at staff meeting last week, no problem.

I will be 11 weeks on Sunday- and have my first appt with my Dr. (instead of a midwife) on Thursday. Not really sure what to expect- but hoping for a better appointment than I had last time (the midwife made me feel terrible about my weight and was not very sensitive to the fact that it took us almost 2 years to get preg. and was talking about aborting the baby if the NT scan came back negative.... it was bad) My plan is to be slightly proactive and go in there and annouce that I hope this is going to be a better appointment as the last one was not so great. I am just thankful the midwife I saw last time isnt on my birthing team!

Quick question- has anyone toured thier hospital yet? When do you do that??

  6. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Oh yeah, I don't blame you for waiting! That's too bad you've only met your boss once so far!

@cheert16: I hope your next appointment goes better than the last one!!! I haven't toured at our hospital yet, but probably sometime during the second or early in the third trimester is when people do it? I don't really know. I guess if you're trying to decide between hospitals, you'll want to do it earlier, rather than later? I may not even tour since I don't have an option and I've already been in the maternity ward when my friend gave birth there.

@cheert16: I hope your appointment is much better this time! My papers from the doctor tells when we need to go tour the hospital. I don't think that it is till 30something weeks. I don't have a choice which hospital, only one the office delivers out since it is next to the hospital.

It's been a while since I checked in so I just wanted to say hi to everyone! I did a quick look back through the thread and it sounds like everyone is doing really well!

Things are great here! My morning sickness is gone and I stopped taking my Diclectin, I'm feeling awesome! I definitely have a bump now, it's a little nuts! Our NT ultrasound went really well. The tech was an absolute sweetheart and gave us tons of photos, said everything looked really healthy and perfect We go to see our midwife tonight and we'll get to hear the heartbeat for the first time, I'm so excited!!!

We've also booked our photographer for a gender reveal shoot (we're going to do the balloons in a box I think), maternity and newborn shoot. I'm still debating the birth photography (belly up only if we DO do it!). I have time to decide, no biggie.

@Mrs. Mousie: Yaaay for a great report! That's exciting about your gender reveal shoot--I bet those pictures will be super cute!!!

  10. Mrs. Mousie

    cherry / 141 posts

@tororojo: I am SO excited! Our scan is the day before my birthday and I thought it would be fun to do the shoot ON my birthday the next day, but I realized I could never sleep the night between if we did, so we're going straight from the U/S to our photographer, LOL! The only hole in the plan is if the baby doesn't cooperate and want to show us its goods!!! The next month is totally going to drag by for me, I'm just so excited about it!

  11. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Mrs. Mousie: Yay! Glad to hear everything is going well for you!!! That's so exciting about the photo shoots you're doing! I want to hire someone for that, but my husband doesn't like to spend money on stuff like that, so I'm going to see if I can train my best friend to use my dSLR and do my maternity shoot for me.

  12. Mrs. Mousie

    cherry / 141 posts

@Adira: That sounds like a great idea!! This photographer is really talented and she's giving us a great deal, so I'm really excited about it! I think she's still building her portfolio a bit, but I love what I've seen, so I'm really happy to have her! DH knows I'm photography crazy so he just smiles and nods, but I think if it was his preference he'd stay out of the photos altogether, lol!

I have a few friends who are budding photogs too, so I'm sort of hoping to have more than one maternity and newborn shoot There are a few great dSLR tutorials on Pinterest, maybe you could do a couple of those with a friend to get them comfortable and understanding how the camera works? Or if all else fails, set it up yourself and put it on P mode (if you have a Canon) and then fix anything after in Lightroom or Photoshop, LOL!

  13. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Mrs. Mousie: That's awesome you're getting a great deal! Maybe because you're having her do all three shoots? Plus the fact she's still growing her portfolio! Good for you!

Thanks the for the advice! I'm thinking I'll have her come do a maternity shoot and if it doesn't come out well, I can always try to DIY it myself with my remote control shutter - that's how I'm taking my bump photos. It's just a little bit more of a hassle, haha. I'm hoping if I can teach her how to use my camera, I might even have her come and take pictures at the hospital when I give birth!

  14. Mrs. Mousie

    cherry / 141 posts

@Adira: Oooh I really want a remote for our dSLR, but I'm thinking about upgrading the body so that we can shoot video on it too. I think if your friend is even a bit creative she can probably do a great job for you! Just give her lots of time to play with the settings and understand how the camera works. And if all else fails, slap a 50mm fixed lens on there and everything will look great anyways!

We're definitely getting a good deal. She quoted us $1150 for the maternity, birth and newborn shoots along with discs of the edited images, and she offered to throw in the gender reveal for free if we book any/all of those. Umm okay!!! She's done some really gorgeous birth photography, I just want to meet and get to know her before I make up my mind if I want her with us during a moment THAT intimate, LOL!

  15. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Mrs. Mousie: Yeah, I should be good! I have a 50mm and I could just open the aperture wide and have her go at it. As long as we have decent lighting, I should be able to fix anything else in Lightroom.

Oh wow, that's awesome!!! It's great that you get the discs with the images too - I know a lot of photogs don't do that, which sucks. I think a lot of photographers are pretty good about seeming invisible, so I'm sure you'd be able to get some great shots of you while you're in labor without you even really noticing her! And you'll love looking back at those pictures! Assuming, when you meet her, that she's pleasant enough, I think you should go for it!

  16. tororojo

    grapefruit / 4669 posts

@Mrs. Mousie: @Adira: show us the bump photos!!! that also goes for @everyone else!

  17. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

hahaha, this isn't really a bump photo, but here's my last picture. It's from 12 weeks and I was still trying to suck everything in and hide the belly (I'm overweight to begin with). I suspect the next picture (16 weeks) will be much better, bump-wise.

  18. Mrs. Mousie

    cherry / 141 posts

    @Adira: You look fabulous!!!!!!!!
What I like about this photog too (and I didn't know this when I made my initial inquiry with her) is that she's had 3 kids, all home birth, so that makes me feel even more comfortable with it. I have a feeling we'll end up going for it, but I'm still waiting to meet her before making up my mind. AND I have to ask my midwife if she's okay with it too of course!

@tororojo: I have to get mine off the camera and on the computer! We were supposed to do 13 weeks last night, but DH got home too late. I wish I had a remote like Adira! The bump has grown SO much in just a few days, I swear!!!

  19. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Mrs. Mousie: Thank you! That was me sucking in with all I had and wearing my baggiest shirt, hahaha. Next picture will be more interesting!

Oh yeah, the fact that this photog has kids of her own definitely is a plus!! I definitely think you'll end up liking her, but that's just my gut feeling. When are you meeting her?

@Mrs. Mousie: @tororojo: Yeah, the remote is awesome! Plus the tripod. Both are essential for me. Although I COULD try to get Hubs to help me, but I figure he has no interest in this stuff, so I just do it on my own. And I totally feel like my bump is MUCH bigger than it used to be. When we told my parents that I was pregnant, my grandmother (who was also there) said something like "I was wondering... you look bigger." I was all "Thanks grandma, you calling me fat??"

@Mrs. Mousie: Great news that the ultrasound went great!! I love the balloon gender reveal idea!! I don't think that I could talk my husband into spending the money for it. Can't wait to see your pictures! That is a great deal you are getting for all those pictures.

I have been taking bump pictures every Sunday (works out great since DH is home on Sundays), but I still feel like it doesn't look like a bump. That and I suck in it every time. My camera is so crappy. I told DH that I want a nice DSLR for Christmas. That way I have time to learn how to use it before baby gets here.

  21. Mrs. Mousie

    cherry / 141 posts

@Adira: Mid-October I'm really excited! She seems really sweet, I don't think we'll have any issues at all. You can really tell she loves what she does!

@Smurfette: I really need to get more regular with what day we take photos. It's sort of whenever we have time and DH is home. It usually ends up being later in the week than earlier, so most of my photos aren't truly X weeks on the day, more like X weeks 5 or 6 days, LOL!

@tororojo: Alright. Ask and ye shall receive. I blanked out my face though, I'm a little bit internet paranoid these days I'm not a skinny girl to start with, but I think I "popped" pretty early! I wish we had taken a 9 or 10 week photo to compare because my belly wasn't as big as it was in week 11 already!!

@Mrs. Mousie: We started on doing them on Sunday's since that is the day that week changes for me. I always try and do it around lunch time since I am not as bloated yet. I will post a picture after we take week 13 on Sunday. You did pop early!! So cute!!

@Mrs. Mousie: Glad to hear you are feeling better Nice bump shot! I am jealous

AHHH! I want a bump! I literally just look like I have gained some weight- no visible bump yet! I am starting bump photos this weekend (11 wks) so maybe in the next few weeks i will see something!!

Oooh I found one from week 9 or 10. Not so much of a bump!

@Smurfette: It's all about camera angles (and sucking it in), but thank you!!!

@Mrs. Mousie: OMG, I LOVE your bump!!!! I think I'll do what you're doing in my next photo and flaunt it! It's so cute!!!!

  28. Mrs. Mousie

    cherry / 141 posts

@Smurfette: Thanks! Now that I see them lined up, I really did! LOL!

@Adira: Thanks!! I'm ALMOST at the point where I'm trying to show it off. Still on the borderline between just looking fat and looking pregnant in my regular clothes though! If you know I'm pregnant you can spot it but to a stranger, not so much

  29. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Mrs. Mousie: I feel the same way! My friends who know just stare at my stomach and are like "You totally look pregnant!" but I know that MOST of it is really the fat that was already there - it's just being pushed more to the front than before, so I look like a total chubbers to me.

  30. Mrs. Mousie

@Adira: I got my first belly rub from a friend on the weekend. It was adorable because he's this big tough looking guy So cute!

  31. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Mrs. Mousie: hahaha! I hope people avoid rubbing my belly, at least until I'm HUGE. I'm not a touchy-feely person, so I'd probably slap someone's hand away if they were going for a feel, haha!

  32. tororojo

    grapefruit / 4669 posts

Okay I think I'm adding photos of 10 weeks and 15 weeks. I am standing differently and cropped my head out because I am one of those paranoid internet folks. I am jealous of @Mrs. Mousie's bump! @Adira, I can't really appreciate yours because of your loose top, which for the record I think hides your pregnancy nicely!

*ETA* I guess the first one is 9 weeks--I'm not skilled at counting fingers!

Midwife appointment tonight was great! We finally got to hear a heartbeat!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She warned me that it may be hard to find, but she found it right away, nice and strong! 152 bpm!
