Just picked up our stroller and car seat - on sale and a gift from my dad. So excited! (And early, lol)

@shopaholic: My ribs definitely hurt more than normal, though not sure if it's evenly distributed or not. They just feel... tighter maybe?

Also, I think I have the same issue as you - no one has said anything about coming and helping out when the baby gets here. I know people probably want to visit, but I don't think anyone is staying and no one has asked us if we want help or anything. Guess we'll just wing it...

@Smurfette: I'm the same as you - I can't tell the difference between a kick or a punch and I feel like the baby must be just in the middle or something. Most activity seems right in the middle for me, not high or low. Although sometimes I think the baby still kicks my bladder, haha.

@katiew92081: Yum! We always do corned beef and cabbage for St. Patty's Day as well! But baby is due on the 4th so I'm not sure if I'll be able to get any or not... maybe I can convince my mom to come to my house and make me some, haha.

@aprk: Love the stroller and car seat!!! I feel like getting stuff like that really starts to make things feel real!

We started the nursery today!!!! My parents came over and brought our crib, crib mattress, and the rocking chair they got us. We moved the furniture out of the nursery, taped up the boarders, put down plastic, bought paint and primer, and got started!! Today we just did the primer and the first coat of white paint. Next weekend we'll be doing the grey and teal! I'm nervous and excited to see the finished product!!

@Adira: exciting stuff! Gray and teal sounds awesome. Can't wait to see pictures

@aprk: It looks great in my head, but I'm really nervous to see how it comes out!!

@aprk: love it! What stroller is that?

@Adira: post pictures when you are done. I am going to be jealous of everyone's nursery getting done. We need to go and pick out paint now that we are moving. At least all the furniture is in. They told us the glider would take 8-12 weeks and it came in 4. Hoping BuyBuyBaby won't mind holding it for three more weeks.

We aren't sure when DH Dad and StepMom will are coming up or staying. Bad thing about the house, now they can stay with us My parents are only 45 mins away and I know will come whenever we want. My Mom is going to take off the first week DH goes back to work to help me.

  6. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: I will definitely be posting pictures!!! I just hope it looks as good as I'm envisioning, haha.

I would maybe call BuyBuyBaby just to be on the safe side that they aren't going to return your glider or sell it or something if you don't pick it up within a certain amount of time. I wouldn't think they'd mind holding it for three weeks though.

I don't think my parents will be taking off work to help us at all, but I'm not really sure - I haven't talked to them about it and they haven't offered. If anyone would take off time, it's more like Hubs' Dad & Step-Mom since they are self-employed, but I'm not really sure how much help they would be.

@Smurfette: It's the Britax travel system .. I think the stroller is the B-Agile

@mole: How many covers do you have for your infant 18-24 prefolds? I'm also planning on getting some Thirsties Duo Wraps for the newborn stage, but I'm not sure how many. Also thinking about some proraps, maybe.
I have 12 newborn AIO's (6 BG and 6 GroVia) as well, thinking about getting a couple of Lil'Joey's as well.

Oh my gosh, my favorite cousin that lives four hours away and I never get to see it coming to my shower!!! She's even going to come the night before and spend it at my house so we can hang out beforehand because it's such a long drive for her. I'm sooooooo excited!!!

@shopaholic: I won't lie; I feel like I had to do lots of research before I developed a plan!
@aprk: cool looking stroller! I love that color combo.
@Adira: How exciting! I can't wait to see pictures of your nursery! That's great that your cousin can come to your shower too.
@Arden: After re-evaluating the stash, I think we are going to stick with 18 NB prefolds/fitteds for now, and we have a total of 11 covers: 4 Thirsties, 6 Flip, 1 Imse Vimse. The Flips and the Imse Vimse (which looks like it runs on the large side) might not fit right away, though. I read a good rule of thumb is to have 1 cover for every 3-4 prefolds/fitteds.

@Adira: my friend said the same thing to me to tonight about calling BBB. I know I need too, just keep forgetting. That is so great your cousin is going to come to your shower.

@aprk: Yay! How cute are you! Nice stroller! We bought ours on Cyber Monday, but it's still in the box. It's such a big box, I'm not ready to unpack it!

@Adira: No, my rib pain is definitely all up in there high on my right side. I think it's actually my stomach or liver.

Re: The Help situation. DH brought up a good point today. He's going to take 2 weeks off and then maybe his mom & dad can come for 2 weeks after he goes back to work. I like that idea so that DH and I will have alone time with the baby in the beginning too.

YAY! on starting the nursery! It definitely DOES feel more real and you'll get in the nesting mode with the nursery started! Painting was the first big push for me and since then I just want to do more and more to get ready for baby! I'm sure your colors will come out awesome! Can't wait for pics!

@Smurfette: Wow! Nice that your glider came in early, but sucks it's a little too early! And nice that your parents will come whenever you need. My dad works out-of-state and my mom works full-time and actually is really busy in her executive/managerial role. There's no way either of them are taking time off to help.

@arpk: Cute stroller and carseat! I can't wait to start getting stuff like that...makes it feel so real, doesn't it??

@shopaholic: That's nice that your husband can take 2 whole weeks off. Mine will get pretty much 2 days, depending on what day of the week she's born. He's the only one in his building that does the job he does, so he's pretty high demand. Hopefully March will be slow for them!

@adira: So cool your cousin is coming! All my family lives in NY, with the exception of my brother and his wife and daughter, who live in PA. I know how thrilling it is to have a relative come for something so special.

I'm just getting way more and more excited every day about this baby. Not only cause I really want to meet her, but I'm really uncomfortable, lol. I feel like I've been wearing a corset for months, now, lol.

  14. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@shopaholic: Boo, bummer about your rib pain - is it a constant pain that just doesn't go away? It probably is an organ being squashed up there or something. Do you feel you have a short torso - that could be why. How annoying though!!

@katiew92081: My bras definitely give me that corset feeling! I think I might need to get extenders because I have them on their loosest setting and they are still uncomfortable! But I feel okay if I just let the girls fly free. Is your uncomfortableness all the time, regardless of the bra situation?

  15. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@adira: Yep...the baby is sitting way up, so she's pushing on my diaphragm. Sometimes I can encourage her down, but she just likes to wedge her little bottom up in my rib cage, lol. It's actually feels a little relieving when I wear my full panel maternity pants. Maybe it's the support? They've definitely become my favorites!

  16. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@katiew92081: I guess I should be thankful my baby seems to like to hang out in the middle! The only thing that's uncomfortable is being on my feet for too long because it feels like there's extra pressure on my bladder and pelvis, but I'm guessing that's probably pretty normal at this stage! It's good that the full panel maternity pants help though! Just wear them every day.

@mole: @shopaholic: @katiew92081: thanks! The kiwi color is hard to come by so when our local shop had one in stock we had to pounce!

Anybody else getting ridiculously excited yet? I feel like we are getting so close ... and yet so far, lol. I know he needs to stay in there cooking for a lot longer but man, I'd love to meet him!

  18. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@aprk: Yeah, I'm super excited! As of tomorrow, I have 10 weeks until my due date, but only 7 weeks until full term, which is such a LOW number! March still feels so far away, but as fast as the rest of this pregnancy has gone, I know it'll be here before we know it!

  19. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@aprk: I'm getting excited, but it also doesn't feel totally real to me yet!! I mean, we're painting the nursery, we have some furniture, my shower is in a couple weeks, and we're already collecting clothes and toys, and yet... it still feels kind of surreal! I don't think it's really going to hit me until he's actually on the outside!! Although maybe once the nursery is done, it'll start feeling more real, haha.

  20. aprk

    pomegranate / 3452 posts

@katiew92081: @Adira: partly I'm so excited just because it's all surreal right now. It's gonna be so crazy

  21. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@aprk: I'm also getting kind of nervous. I'm not sure how I'm going to handle the lack of sleep, and I'm worried about how taking care of a baby is going to affect Hubs and my relationship. I hope we'll still be able to make time for each other.

VENT: Ugh, my mom is trying to be all helpful and everything, planning a shower. She has a conversation going on facebook with me and my MIL, to decide the day and where and all that...on the side, my MIL is telling me what she prefers, instead of joining the conversation. I mean, THEY are supposed to be planning my shower...she needs to plan with my mom, not make me play in-between person!

In other news, I did not sleep good last night...I was either cold or sweaty. When I did sleep, I had weird dreams and a nightmare. Ugh, hormones.

On the bright side, I'm 30 weeks today! Getting so close!!

  23. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@aprk: I am getting excited but nervous at the same time. Especially with moving, nervous she is going to come early and we won't be ready yet. I had a talk with her in the shower the other morning, told her I would try my best to not stress about the move and make sure I rest plenty, but she has to stay put till March!

@katiew92081: I am sorry! I would just tell your MIL to call/email/FB your Mom about the details. I hate when people try and put you in the middle like that. Sorry that you didn't sleep good. I slept pretty good but I am exhausted this morning. I just want to lay my head down on my desk, but I have a feeling work wouldn't like that so much.

    watermelon / 14206 posts

My midwife just texted me and let me know my group b test came back neg! She tested me early, due to my history of preterm labor. When I had my son, I was at 32 weeks and hadn't taken it, yet, so I had to get antibiotics "just in case" so now I know that's not the case this time. I feel really secure about not going into labor early this time, though.

@smurfette: yeah, I did...I told her to join the 3 way convo going on with my mom, cause I didn't want to be the middle person. I would really rather prefer that they tell me where and when to show up and not bother me with details, lol.

  25. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@katiew92081: I think that is the only way to do showers. I know nothing about either of mine except where and when to be there. I prefer it that way.

Was with my family yesterday and everyone was trying to guess her name. My Goddaughter/cousin's daughter is almost 6 and was sitting on my lap and talking to the baby and rubbing my belly. She kept saying that she can't wait to meet her and wanted to get her a purple blanket since that was her favorite color. She told me that I could tell her the name and she wouldn't tell anyone. Haha, it was was so cute.

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@smurfette: Yeah, me too...I didn't even like planning my first wedding. I think it would have been nice for someone to just tell me when and where to show up, lol. My second wedding was on our back patio with a notary. I hate planning stuff!

That's so cute about your niece! Did anyone guess right, even though you didn't tell them?

  27. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@katiew92081: They weren't even close! Some of them are certain they are right, though. My one Aunt did say they are doing a poll at the shower with the date, weight and her name. My one friend did guess it months ago, but I think I hide it that she was right. She hasn't said anything else about it, so maybe not

  28. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@katiew92081: Ugh! Sorry about your shower drama!!! I agree your mom and MIL need to talk to EACH OTHER and not put you in the middle!!! That's so frustrating!

I've been happy to be involved in the planning on my shower, but it's just my mom planning it, so she's really just running ideas by me and getting some input from me, which is nice. I can be a bit of a control freak, so I like knowing what's going on and having all the details! And she lets me know whenever someone RSVPs - so far 9 people are coming!

  29. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Your shower is this weekend!!! Are you excited?? What are you planning on wearing? I tried to find a dress over the weekend to wear to mine, but couldn't find anything that was fairly casual, so I think I may end up in dark jeans, a nice shirt, and a sweater.

  30. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: I know! It will be small but I really excited for it. No doubt that my girlfriends are making it really cute. No clue what I am going to wear yet though. Planning on going to the mall this week or Sat and see if I can find a dress to wear. If not I will probably just wear grey or black pants and a fun top. I might have peaked this morning at our registry and was excited to see that our Rock n Play, Bouncer and Diaper pail were bought over the weekend. Yeah, some stuff that isn't clothes!

  31. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Yay!!! I hope you're able to find something nice to wear - I didn't have much luck, but hopefully you'll have better luck than I did! And that's awesome that some of the useful items you need have been bought! I was excited to see that our Pack n Play was purchased as well as our high chair! I'm relieved that some of the useful items we need, we're actually going to get and won't have to buy on our own.

Is your shower on Sunday? Do you have any idea how many people will be there? You have another shower on the 27th too, right?

  32. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: Yep, it is Sunday at 1. I think there will be about 14 including me. Then I have my family one on the 27th. One friend that lives out of state asked me last night where should send a present too. I gave her my friend's address that way she can bring to the shower so I have more to open there. I told my Mom, sister and SIL that they didn't need to bring anything since they would be at both showers.

  33. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: That's cool that you're having two showers! And 14 people at this shower sounds like a pretty decent number! I think you'll have fun! My friend had three showers and one of them was just for friends, so there were only about 7 of us there I think, but it was still a lot of fun and she still seemed to get a decent number of gifts despite the limited number of people, so hopefully you'll see the same!

Has anyone transitioned to 2 week appointments yet? Apparently my office doesn't really do it until you're practically full-term! I just had my 32 week appointment on Friday and I don't go back until 36 weeks. And then I think I go in at 38 weeks and 40 weeks (not sure if I'll get to go in at 39 weeks or not, but I don't think so...).

  35. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: I start after my appointment next week. 32 (next week), 34, 36, and then every week. I remember thinking that it would be forever before I had to start going every weeks, and now it is here.

  36. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Lucky! I want to go more often! After 32 weeks, you're going to have SIX appointments and I'm only going to have THREE (Maybe four if I go in at 39 weeks, but I don't think I do).

@katiew92081: Yay on the negative group b strep test! Honestly, I have no idea about all these tests coming up that I've been reading about in the Feb. mommas board. Strep, stress, sweeps, eh... clueless. I think I will just show up every time to my OB's and they'll just do whatever!

That sucks about being the in-between for your mom and MIL. My mom does that ish to me all the time about my in-laws. I always tell her to just call them herself, it gets so annoying.

@Smurfette: How exciting for you for your 1st shower this weekend! I'm getting pretty excited for our main one in 2 weeks Saturday. I'm not sure if the 2nd one will pan out because DH's co-worker that wanted to host it has had the flu and been out of the office for a week. He's not even sure if she's mentioned it to anyone. But excited for our friends & family shower for sure! Hope we can all find something cute to wear soon!!!

@Adira: I didn't mention it on your other post, but yeah, I think you should wait until after the RSVP date to ask people. I know my sister didn't even put an "rsvp BY" date on the invite and she wasn't getting that many rsvp's but people were verbally acknowledging or telling us they were coming. SO, she set up a Facebook invite (or you can do an Evite) and sent it to a lot of people as a "just in case you didn't get the mailed invitation". Since the response is just the click of a button, we immediately got like 20-something rsvps in one day.

RE: 2 week appts. I think I am supposed to be on the 2 week appt. schedule already since my last appt. on Dec. 28th. But because of DH's work schedule, my next appt. is more like 3 weeks in between. But I think they told me from 30 weeks I'd go in every 2 weeks until 36 weeks, and then it's once a week?

My next appt. might be our last ultra-sound so I'm really excited to "see" her, but also sad if it's our last one. I'm hoping we get some really good 4D pics because she's been so camera shy every time we've tried.

@Adira: I am 29 weeks and we start going every two weeks this month. I go to a centering group though, as opposed to individual appointments, so some women in my group are further along than I am.

@shopaholic: My cousin's girlfriend is actually having her baby shower the day before mine and her invites don't have an RSVP by date either. I was thinking I'd wait until MY RSVP by date went by and see if she's coming to mine before I commit to going to hers, haha. I'm a horrible person...

I'm jealous you're actually HAVING another ultra-sound! Is this an elective one or something your office usually does?? I'm jealous! I hope you get some good pictures!

Gahhh, I'm so jealous of all you ladies who get to do the 2 week appointments after 32 weeks (or before, @aprk!!!) and then every week after 36 weeks! WTF! Why is my office so lame???
