@Arden: @Smurfette: @Adira: Thanks Ladies! My sister is running her own wedding planning biz on the side and really into planning and details! I can't wait to see how the shower turns out!

@Arden: Oh sorry to hear you were so sick girl! I can totally empathize as 2012 was NOT kind to me in the health dept. Happy BELATED Birthday!

As far as more gear and stocking up on stuff, I probably won't do much of that until after our showers. If we don't get too much practical stuff at the showers, then I think I've narrowed down our essentials to: car sear, car seat base, diapering needs, and my postpartum needs. Everything else can wait I guess. @Smurfette: Wow! & hostesses! Yeah, that's a lot! I think technically my card says I have 6 hostesses, but I know pretty much just 2-3 of the girls are doing all of the work. I'll probably splurge and get my sister a little Tiffany & Co. necklace or something else nice & sentimental "from her 1st niece." And maybe something $10-20 for each of the other girls. For DH's co-worker, I have no idea what to get?

@aprk: Congrats on passing the GT! And great job on the weight!

Nursery status: I have clothes...the crib is at my mom's and there's not much else, since nursery is our bedroom...until we move, which seems to be sooner than later, cause hubby is really getting the itch to get out of this apartment, lol. What you have left to buy: Everything, except 0-3 month clothes. Getting antsy about it, too.

@keepcalmcarrie: Your bump is so cute!!! And I LOVE that sweater you're wearing!!!

@Arden: I am sooooooo jealous you have a sex drive back! I haven't had one since first trimester and I think Hubs is really starting to suffer.

My mom has received three RSVPs to my baby shower!!! So yay!!! People are actually going to show up!

My mom finally asked me for a list of people I want at my shower. I guess that means it's gonna happen, lol. I got worried for a while, cause my mom would say, "I need to get a hold of your MIL to talk shower" and my MIL would say, "I know I have to call your mom soon and talk about the shower" so I was getting to the point where I got plenty of good intentions, lol. Not sure when they're doing it, though...it'll be nce when they let me know, lol.

  14. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@katiew92081: Asking for a guest list is definitely a good first step!! I'm so happy your mom and MIL are finally getting on top of things for you! Have they talked to you about dates at all yet?

  15. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@adira: No, lol...my mom says beginning of Feb, and my MIL says end of Jan...so some time around there. I'm flexible, so they just gotta let me know. I know that my MIL has to put in for time off at work for it, and it'll probably be a Sunday cause she usually gets them off anyways. That's all I know, haha. I don't even know who my mother in law is inviting! All her gambling friends? lol. I think she's just happy to be included.

  16. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@katiew92081: hahaha, it could be an interesting shower!!! When you give your mom your guest list, you might want to give her addresses while you're at it, since she'll probably need those - that way she has everything she needs from you up front. My shower is also on a Sunday because a couple of my relatives work on Saturdays and my mom wanted to make sure they could come. I'm just hoping it doesn't snow or half our guests won't be able to come!

Are any of you ladies still working out? I'm a total slacker and stopped going to the gym at 20 weeks, but now that I've been gaining so much weight and getting closer to my due date, I feel like I need to do SOMETHING. I was thinking about going to the gym and just walking on a treadmill, but lately it's been really uncomfortable to just walk around. What are you ladies doing?

  17. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@adira: Yeah, I gave her addresses of friends, but a lot of them go to her church, so she has better access to their info than I do, lol. I don't actually have a ton of people I was thinking of inviting, so I think it's a lot of my mom's and MIL's friends and the few people I like, haha.

As for working out: no. I haven't had any energy in 7 months and I've been uncomfortable with the baby being so high up in my abdomen. I walk a good amount, when it's nice, cause my son's school is across the street from our apartment complex. It's probably a half mile round trip, but last time I did it, my ligaments were yelling at me. So, we're now sticking to walks to our apartment office and back and I also count when I have to go to Walmart, cause that place is huge.

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: Yep! I still try and go 3 or 4 times a week. I went last night after not going for 2 weeks due to the holidays and traveling. It felt so good!! I slept so much better too. I have restless leg syndrome and it is way worse now with pregnancy and working out helps it a ton. I definitely have scaled back from what I did pre-pregnancy. Usually light weights and then 30 mins of cardio, elliptical or walking on the treadmill.

@katiew92081: That is exciting they are starting to talk dates and asked you for names.

I was looking at my list for the one next weekend and I think only 12 or 13 will be there. A lot of the list are friends that live out of town and one good friend has to go to Asia for work, so she can't make it. Then 3 are my Mom, sister, and SIL, who I told didn't need to bring a gift since they are going to another shower. So I don't think we will get much at that shower, but I am still excited.

  19. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Ugh, you're so good. I'm jealous of people who go to the gym, haha. I have a membership but I'm just so lazy! And I have to pee every 20 minutes! Maybe I need to pick up a prenatal yoga DVD... I could maybe do that.

Ooooh, it's exciting that you know who's going to be at your shower! 12 or 13 is still a good number!! Plus you're having two showers, right? Do you know how many people were invited to each? My mom invited 40 to my shower and I'm hoping we get ~25, but I don't know if that's realistic or not.

  20. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: I imagine there will end up being 20 adults out of the 30ish invited to the family shower. Plus there will be about 5 girls. I think that is a good amount to show up. I would be upset if too many weren't able to make it. I provided the list for each shower.

I go to the bathroom when I first get to the gym, change. Then I have to pee once or twice during my workout. I thought I went to the bathroom a lot before. I am scared how bad it is going to get in the next 11 weeks.

  21. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: I think one of the reasons I don't like going to the gym (at least now while I'm pregnant) is that the ladies bathroom isn't on the same floor as the rest of the gym. It's up a flight of stairs, which is fine when I just go up there to change into my workout clothes and then grab my stuff at the end of the workout, but would be a pain if I had to trek up there a couple extra times. Although maybe I should view it as a good workout and stop being so lazy, haha!

  22. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: In that case I don't blame you! I go to a smaller gym, through a church, and since they have kid dance classes, I think there is a restroom on every floor. So it is right down the hall from the cardio/weight room.

Hi all!! Long time! I thought I'd check in and say hello! You're all looking and sounding fabulous! Things here are good! Baby girl is growing like a weed and kicking like a soccer player! Time is ticking away far too quickly for my liking these days.

    EDD: March 4
    How many weeks/days: 31 weeks 3 days
    Team: Pink
    Baby name: Not telling!
Recent Milestone: First baby shower is this weekend!
Weight gain: I refuse to calculate it but my midwife says everything is normal, lol!
Next Appointment: 2 weeks from now
Nursery status: She'll be in our room for a while, so going to start on cleaning out and getting ready to lay hardwood in there this week!
Most annoying symptom: A lot of pelvic discomfort from the stretching.
What you are looking forward to most: Baby snuggles!
How you are feeling: Not bad actually. I could do without the back/pelvic aches, but I'm still sleeping and eating well.
Is the third trimester what you expected?: It's kicking my butt harder than the rest of the pregnancy. I didn't realize I would be THIS tired all of the time.
What you are researching: Little odds and ends like sheets, etc.
What you have left to buy: LOL just about everything.
Is your hospital bag packed?: Nope
Have you had your baby shower?: First one is this weekend, next one is in February
What are you most worried about?: House hunting and winding up with a big reno house and it being ages before we get into it. Uggghhhhh. Someone find me a move in ready home in our budget please!!!!

  26. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Mrs. Mousie: I hear you on the house search. We started our search and TTC both in April. We thought the house would be much easier then the baby, not so much. We just went under contract on the 31st and will be closing on the 1st. So moving at 35 weeks, fun times! Hang in there!!! You will find a house. I never thought we would and found one move in ready too.

@Mrs. Mousie: @Smurfette: Oh my gosh, you ladies are CRAZY with moving while pregnant! But hopefully you will both be in homes before your babies arrive, because I suspect moving with an infant would be even harder!!!

@Mrs. Mousie: Good luck at your shower this weekend!!! Do you know how many people are going to be there?? I hope you get lots of loot that you need!

  28. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: I think I am crazy too! But we love the house. And as my Mom pointed out now is the best time for you to move, you won't have to do any of the lifting. I have a month to pack and then can take time to unpack. I do think moving with a newborn would be a lot tougher though. Now we just need to decide if we are going to hit up family and friends to move us or just hire movers. I am leaning towards movers so it doesn't stress DH out as much.

  29. Mrs. Mousie

    cherry / 141 posts

@Smurfette: @Adira: At this point I WISH I were moving while pregnant! That seems like such a better idea than a huge reno and moving with a new born!!!! LOL! I found one house that's dream home perfect, move in ready, but it has big power lines in the backyard. Whomp whomp whomp.

I think there's going to be about 25 people at this shower. I've had good will power and haven't peeked at the registry so far, LOL! We've already gotten a few hand me downs from friends (swing, bouncer & bath seat), so I'm looking forward to making some more additions to getting ready for baby! I'm so excited to see everyone and celebrate our baby girl!

  30. Mrs. Mousie

    cherry / 141 posts

@Smurfette: I told DH if we find a house now that's move in ready we're hiring a company to pack and unpack the whole darn house because I don't have the energy! Maybe that's why he's been leaning towards the reno projects

  31. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: I hear movers are fantastic! And they'll even pack up your house for you so you don't have to do hardly anything! I'm not sure how much it costs, but it would probably be really stress-free to go that route!

When we moved, we had a moving party and invited all our friends to help us. I had packed up most everything, but there were still odds and ends lying about and my friends just threw them in boxes and bags and got everything packed. We had about 15 people helping us, so it went really quickly! And then once we got everything to the house, we BBQ'd and served people beer as a thank you. It worked out really well for us, but I wasn't pregnant at the time.

@Mrs. Mousie: 25 people sounds like a good amount! I'm hoping to have that many at mine! And good for you not looking at the registry! I keep looking at mine even though my shower isn't for a few more weeks and people are JUST getting the invites this week, so most people don't even know where we're registered yet!

  32. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: I am too much of a control freak, that I don't mind the packing. My family has helped me move so much over the years, I feel bad asking them again. Guess it all depends on how much the movers will cost for the day. Or we might see about hiring them for the furniture only. Moving out of the condo is tricky since we have to use the elevator and some things don't fit (mattress) so have to go up the stairs. We are on the 2nd floor, so it isn't as bad. I have a feeling DH would rather have family then hire. You know we need to save money for a new tv

  33. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: My friends did that - they hired movers just for the big furniture. They're on the 3rd floor though and one of the things they had to move was a big heavy treadmill! I'm not sure how much that cost them to do though, but I think it definitely made things easier for them. They also moved over a couple weekends instead of trying to get it all done in one day, so they were able to have friends come one day, family another, etc. I'm not sure what your situation is, but maybe you could do something like that! And I totally approve of buying a new TV - that was the first thing I purchased when we moved into our house, haha.

  34. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: Our friends moved last year out of the same condo into a house and said they paid $1K for the movers to move everything. So I think that the furniture would be $500, which isn't bad. If it saves my family backs. And a new TV is a must for the new house. It will go over the fireplace and the one we have now you can't mount. DH bought it right before all the wall mount tv's came out. We both love our TV, maybe too much!

  35. Mrs. Mousie

    cherry / 141 posts

@Smurfette: I don't mind packing because it means getting to purge so much old stuff you didn't realize you had laying around or don't use. We'll have to see if I feel the same way when we find our new place!

  36. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: I hear you about the TV! Hubs wants me to cut out some of our channels to lower our cable bill and I refuse! I watch soooooo much TV!! Though maybe when the baby is here, I won't have as much time and then I'll be more willing to nix some of the premium channels, haha. And I agree, $500 doesn't seem too bad to move the furniture! Especially down a flight of stairs! Your family would certainly appreciate not having to do that!

@Mrs. Mousie: I think I needed to do a better job purging when we moved, haha. I STILL have boxes that I never unpacked and we moved almost FOUR YEARS AGO!

@Adira: Thanks sweetie! The heels & dress were for a wedding. No way I'm rocking heels on a normal basis these days!
@Adira: Yay for the RSVPs! I haven't asked my sister yet because I don't want to stress her out, but I am getting Amazon alerts for items purchased and we got our first BRU gift yesterday in the mail (with NO NAME on it! argh!) I wanted to do some cute photo Thank You cards with maternity pics but I'll probably have to go buy some regular TY cards for now and not wait so long to send them.

@katiew92081: Yay for your mom & MIL getting together for your shower! It would never dawn on mine to throw the shower ever.

@Adira: Ummm... I haven't worked out in forever! Like seriously I haven't stepped in the gym since I've been pregnant! I do go for long walks maybe 1-2xs a week. Did a little light hiking with my BFF yesterday. I bought 2 prenatal yoga DVDs but they're still in the packaging and I never seem to get around to doing them. I'm so bad. But I need to start on th yoga since i hear it's really helpful for labor.

@Smurfette: Way to go girl on your workout routines! I wish I could be that motivated! 12-13 sounds like a really nice size with people you love!

@Mrs. Mousie: Hey there! Glad you are still eating and sleeping well! Lucky! Good luck on the house hunt and have FUN at your shower this weekend! Post pics if you can after!

@shopaholic: That's really exciting that you get alerts that things are being purchased! Although I guess that cuts down on the surprise, haha. I'm going to try to stay away from my BRU registry, but I'm not sure I'll be able to curb my curiosity!!! Bummer you got a gift with no name though - that's so annoying!

Maybe I'll buy a prenatal yoga DVD and try that - I don't think I can convince myself to go to the gym and it's FREEZING here, so I'm unlikely to get out for many walks. I'd like to at least get a little more flexible or in shape before labor happens!

@Adira: I have one box that's followed me through 3 moves, never opened. I should just toss it. LOL!

@shopaholic: Thanks! I'll definitely try to post photos. It's at a little tea house so it should be really cute

@Mrs. Mousie: haha, okay, glad I'm not the only one that's done this! One of my boxes actually has pictures (framed) in it, so I can't toss it! I just haven't unpacked it yet because I don't know where to put the pictures!!! I'm a nut.
