March 2013 Mommas!

@shopaholic: Yeah, I'm with you! I'm not sure how you would "grab" anything, but my placenta's also in the way, so maybe that's why. It's probably a totally different feeling when the baby is right under the surface, instead of having a cushion between!

Hope that everyone has a great Christmas/Holiday! Just think next year we all get to be Santa and will have a 9 month old crawling around. I can't wait!!

@smurfette: You too! I'm really excited that I'll have a 9 month old on her first Christmas. My son was only 4 months old and didn't get it, lol.

Last night Baby Girl got the hiccups. They annoyed me at first, cause I was trying to sleep, but then I realized that they were coming from near my pelvis, which I think it's a good indication that she's in the right position!

@Smurfette: Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you too and ALL the March Mommas!

I'm actually a lot more excited than I thought I would be. Our original DD for my m/c last year was Xmas and even early on in this pregnancy I was really sad. But Baby Shopaholic is SO REAL these days! I'm over the moon happy and can't wait to have a 9 month old for Xmas next year! I think that's a great age for posing with Santa for the first time!

@katiew92081: That's great news! The past few days I have been having a hard time finding her body parts. I know sometimes I feel a large mass, but no more foot like last week,

Last night I dreamt that I could feel her feet and hands and could even see and feel her toes and fingers through my tummy! It sounds creepy, but it was so surreal and neat in my dream. Like we were connecting.
I was looking back at some early summer 2012 pics today (early pregnancy) and was thinking, gosh, I feel like I've been pregnant for a looong time now! I can't wait for the next couple of months and for baby to get here.
Sorry I wrote a book...feeling all sentimental today...

@Smurfette: Yes!!! Merry Christmas to you as well!!! It's so exciting to think about all the fun Holiday stuff we'll be able to do with our babies in a year!

@katiew92081: Oooh, I hope that's true that baby girl is in the right position!!

@shopaholic: Your dream sounds so interesting!!! I definitely haven't felt any specific body parts yet, but the placenta's probably in the way so I won't be able to.

DH got me my massage gift card, tip already paid too, so excited!!

@Smurfette: Sounds like you had a great Christmas!

I feel super lazy this cold SoCal day. I'm hoping to clean the house and do some other stuff, but my right back has been aching for days. Sleep is a hard-fought battle! Hope you all are having a nice, calm day!

hope everyone had a wonderful christmas celebration with your loved ones!

i logged into one of those baby apps yesterday and i didn't even realize that we're already in double-digit countdown until March! Where has time gone??!!?

  10. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@cokiezombie: Yeah, I saw that, too! Mine says 81 days and that seems so crazy! I remember when this all started and 200 days seemed so far away! Here we are, though. I think the holidays really helped time go by faster for me. With a 5 year old already here, the holidays just fly. Even he saw the 81 days thing and said, "wow, that's a lot sooner!" he's been waiting for an eternity, I think, lol.

    bananas / 9973 posts

@cokiezombie: Wow! I just checked mine - 73 days left! It sounds so close, yet feels so far away still!

@katiew92081: Yes, the holidays do seem to make time go faster, and I'm thankful for it!

@Arden: So I've been taking the RRL capsule one a day and I think I can tell it's working a little? Or at least placebo effect? hahah. I've been getting little "shudders" and "twitches". At first I thought it was the baby, but thinking it might be actual practice contractions or something since how can baby kick so fast? Nothing too strong or crazy so I'm not worried about it.

So, this baby is like clockwork with the hiccups. At first it was cute and endearing, but every night, around 10 or 11, she gets them. They make her move around a lot, and I just can't sleep! As if she didn't already keep me up at night with her antics! I'm glad her dad is an insomniac, cause it seems as if she likes to be awake at night, much like him. They can entertain each other then, lol.

How is everyone enjoying their post holiday coma? My son and I are slowly undecorating the house. By slowly, I mean, for 5 minutes we put some things into the Christmas boxes, and then take like an hour to watch something or play with computers in between, lol. It's getting done, though. The tree is bare, but still standing in the corner. My husband has to do the honors of taking it out the door. I'll be vacuuming needles for days, I'm sure!

Anyone get gifts for the baby for Christmas?? Hubs' family addressed a few presents to the baby, so he's starting to build up a nice little stash of clothes now! It's starting to get me really excited!!!

@katiew92081: we are taking down Christmas tomorrow. On the road home from the ILs now. We have a Christmas party with friends tonight. The Sat we leave for Asheville, I am already tired!

@Adira: Yes!! She got a tummy time mat, couple more toys, crib sheets, memory box for her first pair of shoes, hat, A&A swaddle blankets, and clothes. Most of the clothes are cute. IL got her this cutest white sweater ( but thin) outfit, not sure what they are called but it doesn't have legs, looks like a gown. It is my favorite that we got for Christmas. She has quite a clothes stash growing.

Fingers crossed, we are going to look at a house tomorrow for the 2nd time that we want to put an offer on. Moving in Feb will be tough but at least I have a big family to help.

Oh, my doctors office called this morning, my iron came back a little on the low side. So I have to start taking iron supplements/vitamins. Not the worse thing but I just hope that it fixes it. I don't want to have to worry about it.

  17. shopaholic

    bananas / 9973 posts

@katiew92081: Awww.... yeah, baby girl likes to get active late at night too. I hear that's common because we are resting and not rocking them to sleep.
We are going to take down decor and the tree after New Year's. We have a family member's wedding on the 30th and people will be coming over, so figured it'd be nice to leave up till then.
@Adira: Yes, SIL got us some toy table thing with balls. She said it was her sons favorite baby toy.
@Smurfette: Wow! Sounds like she scored her "first" Xmas! Nice stuff! Good luck on the house preview tomorrow! I have to take the iron stuff too. Just go out and get some Colace and/or Metamucil because I was in pain for a few days from the constipation!

I think I've started getting sciatica on my left side. My lower left back and left foot are in so much pain. I was trying to vacuum yesterday and all the sudden felt like I could stand straight or bend over! And my left foot can't take any pressure without hurting. I've got to call and see if I can get a therapy appointment. Anyone else have this?

  19. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@shopaholic: I read that. Super! As if I don't have enough issues with that already :(. Sorry you are having sciatica pain. I haven't had any issues other then lower back pain but I am sure it is coming.

  20. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Wow, sounds like you got a ton of stuff for the baby!!! Very nice! Hubs and I still have Christmas to do with my family, but I'm not sure they'll have gotten the baby anything since they already bought us our crib and crib mattress. Sorry to hear about your iron, though I think that's pretty common!

@shopaholic: Booo, sorry to hear about the scatia! I haven't experienced that yet and I'm hoping I don't get it. I hear it's really painful! I hope you're able to figure out something to help!

@shopaholic: I get those too! I'm not entirely sure what they are, but I think they may be uterine toning contraction/flutters. Regardless, at least the RRL appears to be doing SOMETHING.

@shopaholic: I have something similar that i thought was sciatica - i have a dysfunction SI joint which has similar symptoms and common during pregnancy - mostly joints becoming more elastic, muscles not moving right and in general everything being squished down there.

Are you going for physical therapy?

  23. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@shopaholic: I had that happen the other day, when I attempted grocery shopping. It was sore, but I decided to go anyways and I was really feeling like my hip was breaking off as I was moving about. It's not around today, so hopefully yours will give you a break. My midwife told me that some hip pain I was having a few weeks ago (same pain, but not as severe as the other day) and she said it's probably my joints and ligaments. Stretching it out may help a lot.

Oh my gosh, ladies, one of my best friends (who lives 3000 miles away) is in town for the holidays and she stopped by today to drop off her gift for me and the baby since she won't be in town for my shower. She did these paintings herself!!!!

@Arden: Yes! I feel like it can only be good for later!
@legallyheidi: @katiew92081: Thanks ladies! It felt a lot better today so I didn't call for PT. I was given a referral a couple of months ago for my back pain, but the appt. took almost a month to get. The day of the appt. I was so tired I fell asleep and missed it. So.... I just kind of gave up on the PT referral. Hopefully it is just stretching pains.

@Adira: Wow! SO cute! What a sweet and talented friend you have!

    * I sort of finished the nursery closet tonight! I went and got all my final Elfa pieces and assembled the closet. I still need to get a couple more baskets and will probably re-arrange some stuff once I get the dresser finished. Everything is hanging at the moment because the dresser is not done yet.

Thanks Ladies! I know... it's kind of a shocker (even for those who know me, lol!) But honestly, my sister has bought like 1/3 of the stuff and we have clothes up to 2 years old sizing. And I posted it on FB so hopefully people won't give us too much clothes for the shower. But thanks... I'm obsessed with Elfa and closet organization!

My mom is throwing a mini baby shower for us today while we're still in town. Curious to see if we get mostly clothes ... She didn't share our registry info. Nonetheless, it will be fun! It's tough to be the center of attention and opening gifts just for me - so appreciative but still awkward.

  34. shopaholic

    bananas / 9973 posts

@aprk: Yay! How fun! I bet you will get mostly clothes and blankets though if she didn't share your registry info. If it's your mom's friends, maybe you'll get some handmade stuff? I've seen some really nice handmade blankets before!

@shopaholic: You're so on top of things!! I have yet to even start washing all the hand-me-downs and arranging them by size.

Heading to my 1-hour glucose test in about half an hour. Wish me luck!

@aprk: Yay mini baby shower! Our shower is in mid-Jan.. we started a registry and got really overwhelmed so we didn't share the link. I think we'll end up getting lots of baby clothes..

@aprk: Oooh, mini-shower will be fun! I know it can be rough to be the center of attention - I'm nervous about my shower too.

It ended up being fun - I'm glad it was a small group. Surprisingly not too many clothes. Most things were very practical and useful. Now, to pack it all up and drive 8 hours home!

Yeah, I like to be prepared and need to be organized. I can't stand waiting last minute for things.

@aprk: That's awesome that you got practical gifts! Good luck on your long drive home!
