The move is over! Hallelujah. We cleaned out the old place and turned in the keys. Now for the unpacking ... which is usually fun but I am so dang tired!

  2. shopaholic

    @aprk: Yay! That's awesome!

  3. Smurfette

@aprk: Woo hoo!! I think the unpacking is fun too! Make sure you get rest.

We ordered our crib, dresser, mattress, and crib skirt on Saturday. They have all in stock, so my Dad is going to come over on Saturday with his truck so we don't have to pay for delivery. The skirt will be in 4-6 weeks. I can't believe that this is the last week in the 2nd trimester. Where has the time gone!

@Smurfette: nice that you don't have to worry about delivery. I bet it will feel even more like time is flying once the furniture is in

@Smurfette: Great news on all your furniture! I gotta finish sanding and priming the dresser and night-stand this week! It's just been too cold, I never want to be in the garage to do the stuff.

    Here's my 28 week bump!
I've grown SOOO much this past week! It hurts so much on my sides and stomach and insides! I hope the growth spurt slows down soon!

@shopaholic: You did grow this week! Still looking as beautiful as always.
@aprk: Yes, we told Dad we would rather buy him a 12 pack of some nice beer, then pay for delivery. I have the best parents.

    @aprk: Congrats on your move!!!

@Smurfette: Oh wow, that's awesome!! Getting furniture is such a big step! Soooo exciting!!!

@shopaholic: Oh wow!!! You have POPPED!!! Your bump is looking fantastic!!!

Tums and I have become really good friends the last couple days. Joy! Anyone else having bad heartburn? I haven't noticed it coming from certain foods, but I am going to start watching it now.

@aprk: Yay, glad to hear the move is behind you. After you get your energy back, unpacking will be so much fun -- that's always my favorite part, setting everything up in a new space

@shopaholic: You look lovely! I've really popped the last week or so as well, OUCH!

@Smurfette: The heartburn is back for me as well, maybe even worse than the first tri. I haven't noticed it with certain foods, just with quantity -- if I eat anything bigger than a snack portion, the burn is crazy.

  10. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Yes!!! I have had horrible heartburn for the last few weeks and it SUCKS! It seems to occur a few hours after every meal, regardless of what I eat!

BUT... it seems to be diminishing... knock on wood. I haven't had any bad heartburn the last couple days... I'm hoping it might be gone for good!

28 weeks tomorrow, so I guess I'll share a bump pic in honor of starting the third tri

  12. Dandelion

@smurfette: Yep, heartburn has been here for a while. Things like chocolate and sugary or acidic foods really set it off. I have to be really careful, now.

I'm starting week 27 now. My grandfather passed away this weekend, and the funeral is in NY (I'm in SC), and I'm bummed that since I'm high-risk I can't travel to go to the funeral. But, it's ok, I can remember him from here.

    @keepcalmcarrie: looking good!

@katiew92081: So sorry to hear about your grandfather. Hugs!

@katiew92081: Aw, I'm so sorry to hear about your grandfather

@Smurfette: Thanks -- I'm feeling huge, but I guess that's something to get used to for this final stretch (literally, haha)

  15. Adira

@keepcalmcarrie: Wow, you look fabulous!!! Although you and @shopaholic are making my bump feel huge!

@katiew92081: So sorry to hear about your grandfather!!!

@keepcalmcarrie: You are not huge at all. You should see my belly!

  17. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

Oh! I don't know how I forgot to post this! This past weekend, for the very first time, Hubs felt the baby kick!!! It's about damn time! But the baby is FINALLY starting to move more, so I was able to get his hand to my belly before the baby stopped kicking in time for him to feel it! The first time, we were falling asleep, and the baby started kicking, so I grabbed Hubs hand and put it on my belly and he was all "Oh!!" And then the next time he felt the baby kick, he said "That must feel weird, like an alien is inside you!" (referring to the aliens from the movie Alien)

  18. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: Yay!! So glad that he finally got to feel him kick.

  19. aprk

    pomegranate / 3452 posts

@Adira: My husband just felt the kicks within the past few days too! It was fun to see his face light up when he finally felt it. Such a difference for him I think, since it's something "real."

  20. Arden

    honeydew / 7589 posts

@Adira: Oh wow, just this week?! I think my husband felt kicks at like 20 weeks.
This makes me think I was right, I must have a crazy strong kid in there... it wasn't all in my head. This movement ISN'T normal. lol

Last night I was laying in bed watching my belly jump all around like crazy. It literally would move two inches up in places, like a fist or foot was pushing straight up.

  21. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@aprk: I definitely think it's made it more real for my husband. We had a snow storm here on Sunday and we were driving about, and he seemed even more concerned than normal and kept saying how he wanted me to be even more careful because of the baby! It was sweet.

@Arden: Well, I have an anterior placenta, so it took a while for the kicks to be able to be felt on the outside - definitely couldn't feel them from the outside at 20 weeks (except when he kicked to the side of my placenta, which totally tickled). Also, until recently (recently being this past weekend!!!), the baby really didn't kick a whole lot. He would kick after meals, but not for very long, so I never felt like his kicking was predictable enough that I tried to get Hubs to feel it. Plus Hubs didn't seem super interested - he wasn't trying to feel for them or anything, so I just waited until the baby was kicking more and I knew he'd keep kicking if I got Hubs hand on the belly quick enough.

  22. Arden

    honeydew / 7589 posts

@Adira: Oh that's right, I forgot about your placenta.
It still freaks me out that my movement is so strong, in a way it's nice but it's also painful and very weird to watch.

  23. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: Baby girl in the last two weeks has been kicking a lot more and through out the day. I have an anterior placenta as well, so it took longer for me to feel kicks for the first time too. Lately I think she is playing tricks on her Dad cause every time he puts his hand on my belly she stops. Last night was the first time in over a week he felt her.

  24. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Arden: Every so often, the baby will kick me to the side of the placenta and it's soooooo much more forceful than his normal kicks that it takes me by surprise!! I imagine that's what all your kicks must feel like!

@Smurfette: haha, I told Hubs that I was thinking he must be too warm and he's intimating the baby and that's why he stops kicking when Hubs tries to feel for him. Hubs always seems to be running like 10 degrees warmer than me!

  25. aprk

    pomegranate / 3452 posts

For me, re the husband feeling baby kicks, I think my extra belly padding made it so the baby had to get really strong to be felt on the outside

@Arden: I can't wait to see the belly move. It seems creepy and cool!

  26. shopaholic

    bananas / 9973 posts

@Smurfette: @Adira: @keepcalmcarrie: Thanks ladies! I just hope I don't continue growing at this rate!

@keepcalmcarrie: Looking so great! I think my bump surpassed yours this week, you still look tiny!
@Smurfette: I had a lot of heartburn earlier in 2nd tri. Acid reflux keeps me up at night so I've been taking Prevacid every night per my OBs instruction for the past month. It helps a lot and on the nights I forget, I feel it!

    @katiew92081: I'm so sorry for your loss dear. {hugs}

@Adira: YAY for the hubs feeling the kicks!

@Arden: I have the anterior placenta too and I've been feeling kicks definitely since 18 weeks and DH the same week. I think Baby Shopaholic is STRONG because if this is what it feels like with an AP, I can't imagine it without the AP!

This past week I can feel body parts FOR SURE this week! Feet, body turning, and hands or head (because I know where the position is). Yesterday she TURNED in my belly and I could see my left side sticking out a lot more than my right side, the first "lopsided belly" so far! So funny!

My cat and I had a sweet moment together Saturday while watching my belly moving from baby girl. She saw the movement then rubbed her head on my belly. Couldn't ask for a sweeter kitty!

So exciting, I got my first shower invitation today. It is so cute. I can't wait till the 13th. Now I just need to find a cute dress to wear.

    @katiew92081: Awww! So cute!
@Smurfette: Yay! I got ours last Friday but I left it at my sister's house At the rate I'm growing, I'm scared to shop for a dress until closer to the date!

  31. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@katiew92081: Oh my gosh, that's so adorable!!!

@Smurfette: @shopaholic: Oh my gosh, I'm so jealous you ladies got your invites already!!! My shower is on the 20th, but I don't think my mom is sending out the invites until after Christmas. She was worried about it getting lost in the shuffle with Christmas cards and stuff.

  32. shopaholic

    bananas / 9973 posts

@Adira: I'm worried they are not sending it soon enough! I've verbally told a few friends and family the date already and everyone immediately put it in their calendars and told me "oh good you told me! My calendar's filling up!" etc. At this rate, people will have just about 1 month's notice, but there's Xmas and New Year's in between, so I just hope people don't forget, etc.

  33. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@shopaholic: Yeah, I'm nervous about this too. If my mom sends the invites right after Christmas, that's less than 4 weeks in advance! But I know she's told the majority of her family, and I know many of Hubs family knows the date already too. I've told my friends that have asked, but definitely not all of them know it yet. I'm just hoping they are free. I'm also hoping that since it's going to be on a Sunday, they'll be more likely to be available than if it was on a Saturday. Guess we'll find out soon enough!

Oh my gosh ladies... *blush* I have been having THE WORST Gas Pains since last night! I've had them here and there during the pregnancy, but usually I can do the knew to chest thing or some yoga stretches to relieve the gas, but since last night, NOTHING has worked! I'll feel doubled-over, like I can straighten out and it just hurts so much! I finally dug around looking through all our meds and took some Gas-X. I know it's on the safe list, but sheesh! None of my "natural" methods have worked yet. Anyone else have this issue yet?

  35. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@shopaholic: I was talking to my sister last night and she said that she wasn't going to mail invitations for the shower on the 27th till the first of the year. I was like well as long as they go out the 1st couple days. I know how fast my calendar fills up. I don't want someone to not make it cause they already have plans. But I know my sister has already told the date to most of the family, so hopefully it won't be an issue.

I still can't believe we are at shower time already.

  36. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@shopaholic: I've definitely had some gas, but I don't think it's as bad as what you're experiencing. And it usually only hits me in the evening, so for most of the day, I'm fine. Sorry that none of the natural methods are working to help.

  37. shopaholic

    bananas / 9973 posts

@Adira: @Smurfette: Yeah. I don't want to push my sister either, so I've just been verbally telling friends & family when I see/speak/text with them. Everyone is always so busy, and our shower is on the 19th (a Saturday), which is also a holiday weekend. The 27th gives you some more time luckily!

  38. shopaholic

    bananas / 9973 posts

@Adira: I just realized it's probably constipation too (sorry if TMI). I forgot that with the Iron supplements I've been taking, I need to go and get some more Metamucil or stool softeners the Dr. said. I've been taking probiotics, but I'm guessing it's not effective enough.

  39. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@shopaholic: I have been having more gas, usually at night. Lucky for DH, it seems to hit right when we are going to bed and I am all snuggled in bed. I have woken myself up in the middle of the night from it too. So gross!

  40. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@shopaholic: My cousin's girlfriend is actually having her shower on the 19th too!!! I'm nervous that my family won't really want to come to mine since that will be two back-to-back showers in one weekend. But my mom called a majority of them and they said they would still come, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

And no worries about the TMI - constipation is definitely the killer for me. It and heartburn are the two things I hate most about pregnancy. I notice that if I don't get in enough fiber during my day, my evenings are NOT fun. And then I'm in so much pain after. I can't wait for this part to go back to normal!
