March 2013 Mommas!

@Adira: I was so shocked, lol. I called my husband and was like "I just got breast milk in my hair!!!". So weird.

  2. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Arden: This might be TMI, but how easily did it come out? Did you do anything or did it just happen? Now I'm nervous...

  3. Arden

    honeydew / 7589 posts

@Adira: I was topless sitting in bed and I somehow squished my breast with my arm while getting up? And it sprayed out, and got on my arm, and on my hair (I have really long hair).

But after that I tried to spray more out by squeezing my boob (lol, I just wanted to see if it would work) and nothing came out. So maybe there was just a little bit?

I would recommend being careful with the SO during sexy time... he could potentially get booby milk to the face.

  4. Smurfette

@Arden: What I didn't know it could happen that fast? I knew you could start with colostrum this early but not milk.

  5. Arden

    honeydew / 7589 posts

@Smurfette: Yeah I'm not sure either... this definitely wasn't colostrum - it was watery and white, very thin. Maybe it's like... the cleaning solution to get your boob tubes ready for milk? lol, I have no idea. I'll ask the midwife at my appointment.

  6. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Arden: Oh my gosh, how traumatizing!!! hahahaha! So far I think I've been producing the tiniest amounts of colostrum, but definitely no milk seen yet! But maybe I'll tell Hubs to be on the look-out, haha.

@Arden: Ohmygosh! It still seems so early! I would have been shocked too!

Okay ladies! I am like literally growing bigger every night here for the last 3 days! I suddenly feel BIG! I'm hoping it's just a growth spurt (I had one in 2nd tri) and not like a continuous daily growth at this kind of rate! I'm feeling feeling more uncomfortable and totally un-sexy. Are you guys growing steadily or did you have some growth spurt week(s)?

  8. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@shopaholic: I haven't really noticed specific growth spurts, so I think I'm just growing steadily, though I don't really know. I did notice last night what could be the beginning of stretch marks though.

  9. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@shopaholic: I haven't noticed a spurt really, seems more gratual. Although one lovely lady at work asked me "Are you sure you are due in March?" "You are really are blossming." So rude. But them someone else told me that I didn't look any bigger then I did two weeks ago, so who knows. I am feeling huge though. I asked my husband last night if he was still going to love when we I get fat. Don't feel like I turn him on at all these days. And we have 3 months left!!

@Adira: Boo to the stretch mark. Are you using any cream?

  10. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@arden: that's crazy! I've had slight leaking, but I can only tell cause it kinda crusts up on my nipples. I've seen them glisten once, lol.

@shopaholic: I've woken up some days to a growth spurt. I'm starting to really feel uncomfortable. Since I'm short, and this bump sticks out a lot, I'm already having trouble trimming my toenails and other things that require me to go around my belly. It's getting old, lol.

  11. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: I'm just using a regular moisturizer, but maybe I need to start using it more often - I was really only using it once every other day, but maybe I'll try to make sure I use it every day from now on, and maybe twice a day! Although I know my mom got stretch marks and I think they are genetic, so I'm probably doomed no matter what I do.

  12. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: My StepMIL is a doctor and she said they are genetic. She told me to just use something with Vitamin E in it and try and gradually gain the weight. I have been using Cocoa Butter.

  13. shopaholic

    bananas / 9973 posts

@katiew92081: Definitely clipping toenails and shaving have been increasingly challenging!

@Adira: I've been using the Palmer's Cocoa Butter everyday. I started out using more expensive stuff, but found this cheapie but long-standing favorite really is great!

@Smurfette: Blossoming is at least a nicer and more tactful statement than "whoa! You got BIG!"

  14. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@shopaholic: True! But it should be a law that anyone woman that has been pregnant is not allowed to say anything to another pregnant except you look great!!!

  15. Arden

    honeydew / 7589 posts

@Smurfette: @shopaholic: True, "blossoming" might not be the best thing to say, but it's certainly not the worst!

I've been hearing "Are you sure it's not twins?", "Are you sure you aren't due until March?" and "Wow, you're really big for six months!".

Grrr.... I'm not big. I'm perfectly normal sized. And healthy.

So I totally know what you mean. People should keep their mouths shut unless they are saying "You look great!".

  16. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@smurfette: When I was pregnant with my first, I had someone telling me I looked WAY bigger than how far along I was. I worked in a restaurant, so apparently manners don't matter so much there, lol. I remember being annoyed! People should just adore the bump (but not touch it) or pretend it's not there, lol.

  17. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

So... I am tentatively going to say that I passed the glucose test. It's been almost a week and I haven't received a phone call yet (my practice only calls if they have bad news). Plus my results are now on-line, so I know my OB has had a chance to see them. My results were 100 and 103 mg/dL. I don't know what's normal, but I think anything under 130 mg/dL is considered okay, right?

@shopaholic: Have you gotten your results back yet?

Anyone doing the glucose test soon?

  18. aprk

    pomegranate / 3452 posts

@Adira: tentative congrats! I take mine on Jan 2

  19. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@aprk: Oh yikes, right after the holidays! Are you nervous at all? And is yours a 1-hour or 2-hour test, do you know?

  20. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: Awesome! Definelty a case of no news is good news.

I have mine on Wed, 19th. Fingers crossed I pass. I don't know what I would do if I can't eat my Mom's candy cane cookies at Christmas.

  21. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Oh my gosh, yes! I hope you pass!!! That would be horrible if you had to pass on Christmas goodies!!!

  22. aprk

    pomegranate / 3452 posts

@Adira: I think it's just an hour. I'm not nervous. I figure if I have it, I have it.

  23. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@aprk: That's a good way to look at it! At least your test is after the holidays so you can just enjoy yourself for now!

  24. shopaholic

    bananas / 9973 posts

@Adira: That's great! I also think "no news is good news!" I haven't heard anything yet either because my OB appt. this morning was cancelled while I was on my way there. OB got called into a delivery so I see her tomorrow instead.

  25. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@shopaholic: Oh! You're lucky you're seeing your OB soon though so you can find out for sure if you passed or not! If you can, find out what's considered failing (numbers-wise) because I think we had the same test, so I think if my numbers are under whatever your OB says the cutoff is, I'll feel much better. I'm not seeing my OB until January 4th!

  26. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@adira: Yep, your numbers are safe! Needs to be under 130 in most offices. Yours is a lovely number! Yay for passing! My official one is on the 31st (I had one first at 16 weeks that I passed).

My baby never stops moving, now it seems like. Obviously signs that she's doing well, but I'm wondering when does she ever sleep? I hope she doesn't get her dad's sleeping habits! I was spoiled with my son, who has slept through the night since 4 months and still goes to bed willingly without a fight at bedtime. I just really hope this baby girl will follow trend! I love sleep!

  27. shopaholic

    bananas / 9973 posts

@Adira: Ok! I will try to remember to ask!

@katiew92081: I actually like feeling her move, call me paranoid still! I was just telling DH how I saw some "secretly pregnant" show on TV and the woman had a stillborn birth with #2 so didn't tell anyone about #3. Then I read some post on here about baby movements slowing down after 32 weeks, so I kind of worry about how would she have known or not known about the stillborn? Anyways, paranoid thoughts right? So thankful for kicks!

  28. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@shopaholic: That show doesn't weird me out as much as "I Didn't know I was Pregnant" I mean...really??? I knew I was pregnant before I ever peed on any sticks, lol. And since then, I've been so sleepy and uncomfortable I couldn't imagine the thought not crossing my mind at least once.

  29. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@katiew92081: @shopaholic: I think my baby might be lazy, haha. He kicks, but definitely not a lot! He'll be more active after I eat, but for most of the day, he doesn't do anything!!! I could also be that his movements are subtle and because of my anterior placenta, I can't feel those? I definitely notice him kicking after I eat, but he'll only kick for a few minutes and then stop. I hope that means he'll sleep a lot when he's born... though I definitely don't want him to be a sloth when he's older!

  30. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@shopaholic: I am with you. I freak out if I don't feel her all morning. I like the kicks/punches. Feel like it is her way of letting me know she is ok in there. I am still so nervous that something is going to go wrong.

@katiew92081: I haven't watched that show but I don't understand how people can not know, esp now being pregnant. I mean what do they think all the kicks/punches/movements are? No way I could just think I am gaining weight, totally different belly.

Hi everyone! I'm new here, but I've been lurking and wanting to join in on this March mamas thread for awhile (can't get my baby fix on WB, and I just recently discovered HB). I'm due March 12. Just found out I passed my glucose test, so that's a huge relief and a great excuse to continue my Christmas cookie binge

  32. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@smurfette: Not only that, the joint pain, the nausea, the leaky boobs (I know not all pregnant women leak, but pretty much all of them have breast changes), braxton hicks, ...and towards the end the swollen feet. If I didn't think I was pregnant, I sure would be at the Doctor asking them to figure out what's the problem!

  33. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@keepcalmcarrie: Welcome and congratulations!!! Do you know what gender you're having or are you Team Green?? And congrats on passing your glucose test!

    @keepcalmcarrie: Hi and welcome!

  35. mole

    apricot / 373 posts

@Arden: Crazy! I didn't know that could happen this early either.
@shopaholic: I definitely feel more and more "pregnant" in appearance, particularly over the last couple of weeks. I've finally started to have strangers ask when I am due!
@Adira: Congrats on passing your glucose test! That's great news.
@keepcalmcarrie: Welcome and congrats on passing your glucose test. I ended up over here after WB as well. I think it's a pretty common transition!

Today, I went to a Scholastic warehouse sale and bought 15 hardcover children's books for around $100. I think that I am looking forward to reading to/with the baby more than almost anything else!

Anyone have any fun weekend plans? We are hosting a party on Saturday -- so a decent part of Friday night is going to be spent prepping and cleaning. Woo! Haha. On Sunday, we will probably just relax before our second childbirth class.

  36. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

    @mole: Thanks!

As far as weekend plans, tomorrow Hubs and I have our Infant CPR class in the evening. Then Saturday, I'm cleaning the house and wrapping birthday presents (both my parents' birthdays are in December), and then having two of my girlfriends over for a sleep-over. Then on Sunday, my parents and brother are coming over for birthday fun! We're going out to lunch and going to the movies to see The Hobbit!

  37. mole

    apricot / 373 posts

@Adira: Sounds like a busy and fun weekend! I totally forgot: we are going to see The Hobbit tonight. It should be a fun movie. I can't wait to eat some movie theater popcorn too.

  38. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@mole: Oh, jealous you're going tonight!!! You'll have to let me know what you think. Did you enjoy the Lord of the Ring movies?

  39. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@keepcalmcarrie: Welcome! Congrats on passing your glucose test!

@mole: My son and I love reading books together. Now he's older, we're enjoying reading longer books, a chapter or two a night, like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Charlotte's Web. He and I are both looking forward to having Little Sister here for reading time soon!

@adira: Enjoy your CPR class...are you going to be certified after that or is it just a basic course? When my son was in the NICU, I was required to take that class before I could take him home, but it was very basic...just a movie and a brochure. No official certification.

  40. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@katiew92081: I THINK our class includes certification, but I'm not positive. It's a 3-hour course, so it must, right?? I'll let you know when I find out!!
