@shopaholic and @mole: Have a fun trip! Funny that you guys are going to the same place!

    @adira: Have fun painting!

Does anyone else have crazy pigment stuff going on? I'm a pretty pale person, but I've always had this little splotch of reddish/brown on my abdomen, right under my left breast. Now, it's grown so much...it didn't grow like this with my son! it kinda looks like a map of Australia, lol. I wonder if it'll shrink again after the baby is born?

@katiew92081: I don't but thanks to winter my skin is so pale right now. I hate it.

Does everyone have their coming home outfit yet? I can't decide what to get. I really want a cute little dress, since I am planning on keeping this outfit. But March can be warm or cold here in Atlanta. If you have yours post a pic!

@Smurfette: I haven't chosen a coming home outfit yet, though I suspect I'll just put the kid in some pjs, haha. I'm going to wait until after my shower to see if I get any cute options!

Whoa, I am so many pages behind in updates here! We have a talkative month, I love it

@katiew92081: I'm not usually super pale, although I'm feeling that way right now -- but I can now see veins in my boobs, and it is weirding me out! I've never seen them before. There is one weird red/purple "splotch" right over my belly button too -- it isn't a stretch mark, but maybe it's a warning that one is on the way? I should know, I have them on my hips/thighs from puberty but am praying I can avoid them on my stomach -- LOL @shopaholic "basting" herself, that's how I feel too!

@Smurfette: I think I have baby's "coming home" outfit planned, but I might change it based on the weather. Right now it's a white/green "sleep and play" (long-sleeved and footies) with a white/green/yellow striped hat. There's a little crocheted white sweater that could go over it too, plus our JJ Cole Bundleme. It's hard to decide though!

Speaking of clothing, can newborns wear onesies/bodysuits/sleep and plays before their cord stump falls off? Probably a stupid question! I always thought they could, I thought newborns practically lived in that stuff, but I feel like I just read somewhere that they should wear pants/shirts until the stump falls off... that can't be right. Right?

Had an ultrasound on Monday (Baby had a choroid plexus cyst at the 20 week ultrasound, which they weren't worried about but they wanted to double check to make sure it resolved, which it did) and we found out that he/she is head down and facing my back, so that was good news! No fun face shot though, baby was being shy and had its arm in front of its face. The foot looked huge though! It's so fun how fast they're growing now.

@keepcalmcarrie: I thought that they can. I would think they would less irritating for the area.

Well the 3-hour glucose test really wasn't the worst, but since I already have a cold it really wiped me out. This afternoon I am struggling with being productive!!

Hope you ladies have great weekends planned

@katiew92081: not yet - the weather is really touchy in maryland so it could be cold but will likely be super springlike...buuuttt we never know so I've been racking my brain what to put him in. I'm sure I'll find something but I'm kind of waiting for the next round of super amazing sales on baby stuff to buy something (and wait til after my shower next weekend)

  8. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@smurfette: Well, like I mentioned before, I have a green outfit planned for her in case she's coming home on St. Patrick's day. I'm gonna wait til after my shower before settling on something for the other option. She's not gonna get a bath at the birth center, so I'm not gonna put her in anything too pretty, lol. Probably just a pink onesie and some pants or a jumper (depending on the weather).

@keepcalmcarrie: Aw, I love hearing about everyone's ultrasounds. I'm kinda missing having ultrasounds this pregnancy (except for the one we went to a boutique for) and I would love a sneak peek at my little girl. But, I'll just hang tight for 9 more weeks.

Could you imagine explaining ultrasounds to women 100 years ago or more? They'd be amazed, lol.

    Hi Ladies!

So much activity on our page - yay!

RE: the BLUE veins on the boos, yeah, I've got that starting early in 2nd tri and it's so weird sometimes! Especially when you get out of the shower, they are extra blue I feel like against my pale skin!

I *think* I'm starting to get some white tiny stretch marks on my hips/butt area. slathering on cocoa butter like crazy!

I don't have a "coming home" outfit yet, but I did pack a few things in my hospital bag already. A couple of NB onesies & 1 pair of NB pants, some mittens, and 2 footed PJs so far. One of the sleepers is a cute little pink ballerina number, but it's a "preemie" size. I got it at TJ Maxx so it wasn't too expensive if she doesn't fit it. I just bought it in case the NB sizes are too big, as I have read that even a lot of NB sizes are really big on the babies. We'll see if anything cute comes at the baby shower - if not, I might pick up one more cute little 2 pc outfit (in case the belly button area needs to be avoided?) I heard that as long as the onesie or sleeper isn't tight or rubbing on the umbilical cord, it should be fine.

  10. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

I never even thought about the umbilical cord stump issue! Maybe I'll make sure my bring home outfit is just pants/shirt or if I like a onesie look, I'll bring a second option just to be on the safe side.

So ladies, my RSVP by date was today and people actually RSVP'd!!! Only six people (of 42) didn't RSVP, including my BEST FRIEND (grrrrr). But three people responded with "Maybe, we don't know yet..." which was kind of lame - what's that even mean? My mom was pretty annoyed because now she feels like she has to count them so there's food in case they show up, but if they don't, she'll have had to pay for them anyway, which sucks. Besides that though, it sounds like the shower is going to have a pretty good turn out! I think there's ~25 people coming, which is awesome! I'm getting so excited!!!

  11. shopaholic

    bananas / 9973 posts

@Adira: That's awesome about your RSVP's! I think we are going to have about 30-something people there including kids. It's co-ed and I'm just hoping it will be more of a chill party to hang out with friends and family! Aren't you so excited?

I've found a couple of dresses, but they are both short, so I am hoping it will be warm enough to be okay with just tights or else, I'll have to wear something else. My sister's house is small, but she has a big backyard so I know we'll be outside for a lot of it.

  12. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@shopaholic: Oh nice!! 30 is a good number too! My 25 also included children. I should count how many actual adults are going to be there, haha. But it should be fun! I'm sooooo excited!!!

I'm jealous you found some dresses. I'm going to ask my mom today what I should wear to my shower. I couldn't find any dresses that seemed good enough. They were either WAY too fancy (like cocktail dresses) or too casual. Everything that was in-between didn't look good on me. Plus I'm back to being pasty white, so I'm not sure I want my legs to show anyway, haha. I hope the weather works out for you so that you can wear your dresses with tights!

I would have posted on this board sooner had I a) found out about Hellobee before just a month ago and b)had an account!

We're expecting our second child around March 4th, according to the first ultrasound, or March 14th, according to the second. I hate when they hedge their bets like this because it's so frustrating! With our first LO, he was due February 4th, then closer to the 11th. He was actually born January 31st. I really hope this next one is actually born in March - that way there's a month between the two birthdays!

Since the our first LO was only born last year, no need for new clothes (boo!) and no need for new toys/sheets/blankets/etc so no baby shower. We didn't find out whether first LO was a boy or a girl until the day he was born so all of our newborn - 3 months clothes are gender neutral and don't start looking like boy clothes until about 9 months. We decided not to find out the gender of this next LO either. Is it weird I'm afraid it's a girl? After having a boy, I can't imagine taking care of a girl!

  14. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@shopaholic: Good idea on the preemie outfit. I was going to pack newborn and 0-3 for the hospital. So hard since we have no idea how big or small they are going to be.

@Adira: 25 people is a great number! Glad that you got more RSVP's in without having to call too many.

@NaturallyCathy: Welcome!! That is great that you have stuff already for #2. I admire everyone that can hold out not finding the sex. We couldn't wait.

I ran up to Macy's this morning and found a dress to wear tomorrow. Suppose to be in the high 60s/low 70s tomorrow here, so I am going to show off my white legs Hope my friends don't mind!! I got it on sale, so that made me happy. They had another one that I really liked so for my other shower but they didn't have my size.

    @naturallycathy: welcome!

@smurfette and @shopaholic: I have one preeminent gown given to busby the lady who did our ultrasound. I'd bring it but they aren't practical to wear in carseats. I'm m bringing Nb and 0-3 month stiff. Also size Nb and size 1 diapers. I wont open the newborn ones unless we'll need them. Hubby thinks she'll be small since we both are small.

@NaturallyCathy: Welcome to the March Mommas board! That's cool you can handle the suspense and do Team Green 2 xs!

@Smurfette: Glad you found a dress! You'll have to share some pics after your shower!

@katiew92081: I'm thinking our LO will be on the smaller size too (I hope). DH and I are both pretty average.

Excuse my typos in my previous post...I was typing on my kindle, and I'm not so good at that, lol. Not sure why it always wants to change my words on me!

  18. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@NaturallyCathy: Oh my gosh, WELCOME and congratulations on your pregnancy!!! How close in age are your children going to be - 14 months or so? That's how close my husband and his sister are.

I don't think it's weird that you're nervous about having a girl after having a boy! My sister-in-law was actually the exact same way - she was hoping to have another boy because she already knew what to expect with them, but she ended up having a girl. I think she's happy to have one of each now though.

@Smurfette: Oh my gosh, I didn't even THINK to look in Macy's for a dress!!! Congratulations on finding one! And that's awesome about the weather where you are! It's only going to be in the 40s here tomorrow, but that's New England for you.

I did talk to my mom about what I should wear to the shower and she thought it was a good idea for me to wear jeans, since she's actually dressing up a little. That way if people dress up OR dress down, they'll match one of us and won't feel under/over dressed.

So... we finished painting the nursery!! But I don't have pictures yet because the lighting was getting terrible by the time we finished. I'll take pictures tomorrow, but the room is still in disarray - we have a ladder in the middle of the room, sheeting all over the floor, and none of the outlet covers have been put back yet. But the paint is done!

Thanks so much for the warm welcomes! @shopaholic: @katiew92081: @Smurfette:

@Adira: Yes, about fourteen months. Not planned, to say the least! On the one hand, it's kinda great - my kids won't have the age difference I had to deal with with my siblings (five/seven years), they'll always have each other to play with, etc. On the other hand, I really wish it hadn't happened -quite- so soon after Henry. I love spending time with him and I feel like my time with just him has an expiration date. I'm going to miss just managing one and I have no idea how I'll be able to manage two.

  21. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@NaturallyCathy: My brother and I are 16 months apart, so from what I understand from my mom, having two babies (or a baby and toddler) is definitely challenging, but that you only have to do the baby stage once and stuff. Plus being so close in age, they'll always have someone to play with and hang out with, so you don't have to spend as much time entertaining them because they can entertain each other. And with my brother and myself, we also were very competitive in school (we were a grade apart), so we were always competing to bring home better grades, which I think our parents liked. And now my brother and I are super close and hang out all the time! So although it will be hard, especially in the beginning, I think it'll be great for your kids to be so close!

  22. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@NaturallyCathy: My sister is 18 months older then me, then my brother is 18 months younger then me. Mom said that I came along a lot faster then they were expecting since it took so long to get pregnant with my sister. Then my brother was an opps. But it was great being so close growing up, we always had someone to play with.

  23. Mrs. Grizzly Bear

    GOLD / grapefruit / 4555 posts

@Smurfette: Both of mine were 'oops'. Funnily enough, apparently it's genetic. When I told my mother that I was pregnant (again!), she said "Yeah, forgot to warn you about that." My brother is sixteen months older than my sister. Which makes my brother seven years older than me and my sister only about five and a half. Of course, in comparison, I was the biggest oops of all. Apparently they hadn't quite figured out that antibiotics went against birth control pills at the time...

  24. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@naturallycathy: My brother and I are 23 months apart and we fought a lot growing up, lol. We also did a lot of stuff together. We had cousins that were staggard between us (boy cousin was a year older than my brother and girl cousin [they were siblings] was a year older than me), so we spent a lot of summers as the 4 of us and we really cherish those memories at my grandparents house and at each other's houses.

We also have a brother who was an oops 9 years younger than me, lol.

Alright ladies... nursery reveal! We're obviously not done - we still need to put all the outlet covers back up, the curtain rods, remove all the junk, and then actually fill it with furniture and stuff, but this will give you a good idea of the before and after!

Does anyone else hear a clicking sound from their belly? I've googled it, and it seems like it's common, but no one knows what it is! I usually hear it when I'm sitting. It's weird...I don't remember this occurring during my first pregnancy.

  30. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@katiew92081: Hmm... I'm not sure it's a clicking sound, but I have heard something that kind of sounds like a dull thud or something. I have no idea what it is!

@Adira: Thanks for updating the DD's!
Eeek! The room color/paint looks SOO good!!! I can't wait to see it done! And yes, what a nice BIG room you have for the nursery!

@NaturallyCathy: That's pretty cool your kiddos will be so close in age. Most siblings I know like that are super-close!

@katiew92081: Hmm... no clicking sound here. But sometimes I feel like I can feel her heartbeat, but then I'm not sure if it's just that I can feel the blood pulsing in my own hand or if it's coming from the belly.

@Smurfette: Hope you're having fun at your shower! Can't wait to hear how it went and what your favorite parts and gifts were!

A couple of nights ago I got a charley-horse in my leg while sleeping. SOOO painful! It's not the first time, but this time my leg/calf is still sore two days later!

  32. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: OMG, I love it! It looks so good. I love the strip.

@katiew92081: I haven't noticed any clicking sound. Sorry, no help.

Uploading some pictures from my shower. Hopefully my sister took some good ones. I will be back with a full report but it was so fun. Baby Smurfette is so blessed.

  33. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@shopaholic: Oh my gosh, charley horses are the WORST!!! I used to get them occasionally before, but I get them so much more now that I'm pregnant! Sometimes I'll wake up and feel the need to stretch, and as soon as I point my toes, I'll get one!!! There's been a couple times, I've had to get out of bed to walk them out because they've been so bad. Although I don't think I've had one that's so bad that I've been sore for days like you!!! Hope that's the last one you have to experience, at least that's that bad!!

@Smurfette: Can't wait to hear more about your shower! I'm getting excited for mine, but also nervous to be the center of attention. Did you guys play any games? I don't think mine will have any - just lunch and dessert and then presents, which I think is how I prefer it.

  34. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

So my shower was great! There were about 15 people there, so small but it was great. It was at this little restaurant that we go to a lot. They reserved the little barn, it was rustic, with lights hanging up, and totally me. The food was great. We ate and then did presents. We got a lot we registered for but they just got them at other places. Baby girl is going to have her pick of pacifiers that is for sure. I was really glad to see that we got a lot of things that we needed but then some fun stuff, headbands, leg warmers, pink ruffled bloomers (my favorite), and some clothes.

Then we played a couple games, while we had dessert. One game was name the baby name for the animal, like kangroo is a joey. Also played a little game to name a baby item/word with every letter of the alphabet. Simple which is what I like for parties.

So the pictures of me opening gifts are awful, but here are a couple. They made the diaper wreath and the cookie favors. I don't want to post any pictures of the group shots since I don't know how they would feel about their picture on the web.

One friend brought me another bag of hand me down clothes from her little girl and some nursing tops. Also another is letting me borrow the bottle sterilizer for the microwave.

We also got our car seat, 3 bases (my Mom is going to keep one) and snap and go stroller that we are borrowing for another friend.

    Seriously have the best girlfriends!

@smurfette: Aw, sounds like a really nice shower! Today was such nice weather for a location like that.

Those are good game ideas. My MIL is looking for ideas, so I might bring up the baby animal one to her. She was bummed out when my mom told her no measuring my belly, lol. (for that, I'm grateful!)

    The cookies are so cute!

@Smurfette: Sounds like your shower was awesome!!! So glad to hear that you got a bunch of items you needed plus some fun stuff as well! And those games sound fun and not obnoxious like some shower games can be, haha. Love the favors you had! Glad you had fun!!

  37. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@katiew92081: I told the hosts of both showers that the only request I had was no measuring the belly game. And I am glad that my sister said she also will not be doing the melted candy bars in the diaper game. That one is so gross! The weather was perfect today. If you want me to scan a picture of the animal game, let me know. They made game cards for everyone matching the invitation design.

@Adira: Seriously, some games are so bad! I can't wait to eat one of the favors. I know they are going to be delish!

@adira and @shopaholic: EVERY night I feel the charley horses coming on. As soon as I feel like it's coming, I quickly flex my foot and it stops it in its track. When they do get through, I do the same thing...that usually happens when I'm actually sleeping and not aware enough to thwart them, lol.

@smurfette: I'll tell my MIL about the baby animal game...she can probably make a version of it. Thankfully, she also said she won't be doing the candy in the diaper game. Actually, she said it was chocolate pudding in the diaper game...either way it sounds horrible. It's the first time I've heard of it, when she was talking about it.
