@shopaholic: DH asked me the same thing. I am guessing not since the inside of the diaper is touching the foam wreath. Not sure then I would want that to touch baby's skin. They gave me the rest of the pack of diapers they didn't use on the wreath though.
@katiew92081: How do you do it with pudding? I just know the candy bars, and then have to try and guess what the candy bar is.
watermelon / 14206 posts
@smurfette: I don't know, cause she didn't give me the details about it. She said something about eating it from the diapers, which sounds a lot worse than identifying the candy bar. Maybe she was confused about it? I don't know...I didn't ask for more info, cause it sounded awful, lol.
I worry a little about my MIL being in charge of the games and decorations, but I'll just let it fly and hope it goes well, lol.

@katiew92081: OMG, that sounds so gross! Yeah, don't worry about it. I am sure she is going to do a great job with decorations and games.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@katiew92081: Ewww, eating it??? That's not right! At my best friend's shower, we had the identifying candy from the diaper, but there was no taste-testing it! People just smelt it and looked at it to try to figure out what it was.
watermelon / 14206 posts
@adira: Maybe she was confused. I had never heard anything like it before, and she's kinda notorious for getting information mixed up, so maybe she got it messed up. Either way, it doesn't sound fun, lol.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@katiew92081: Yeah, it's wicked gross regardless! Hopefully you don't actually end up playing that!

So I have two wedding bands and my engagement ring is wore in the middle of the two. Today I couldn't get them on I am just wearing the one band. I noticed on Sat they were a little tight in the morning, but I drank a ton of water and by the time I meet friends for dinner, they fit fine again. Yesterday I didn't think they were tight either. I am hoping I just didn't drink enough water yesterday. I will be sad if I have to give up my rings this early.
Anyone else having swollen fingers?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Not yet, but I'm definitely nervous about it! I check my rings a couple times a day to make sure I can still get them on and off, and so far so good. Some days, they feel a little more snug, but then other days, they feel normal, so I don't think I'm swelling too much yet. I should've asked my mom if she experienced swelling, because I hear it's pretty common!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: What is weird is the one band fits fine. Doesn't feel tight but when I tried to get my engagement ring and then another band on, it made my fingers looks like sausages. I know it is common. I just wasn't expecting, or wishful thinking, for another month.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: It's strange that one band fits and the other doesn't! Maybe it's just due to the placement on your finger (one is closer to the base than the other)? My engagement ring is actually a larger size than my band, so I'm hoping I'll still be able to wear that even if my fingers swell and my band is too tight.

@adira: Oh, we won't be playing that game, regardless of which way it's presented. I vetoed that one, along with measuring the belly, lol.
@smurfette: I've only been slightly swollen, but like @adira I check it often during the day. I keep an eye on my feet, too. My right foot looks slightly swollen, but my husband doesn't even notice it, and I'm not noticing lines from my flip flops on them, so it may be a figment of my imagination. I remember being super swollen at this point with my son...I had my rings off at the beginning of the third trimester. This time around I've been lucky, but I also don't have the GD, so that may be a factor for the difference.
My belly lowered slightly this weekend. Not dropping into my pelvis, but I can breath easier and my belly looks a little smaller. I know it's all cause of the baby's position, so I'm not too worried. I'm just grateful for the reprieve. Since I can breathe better, I'm not so sleepy. I may actually be able to enjoy this third trimester!
I'm one week away from the time I gave birth to my son 5 years. I was exactly 32 weeks along when my water broke. This time around I'm feeling that she's staying in there. With him, my waters were leaking for a week (something I didn't realize until after he was laying in the incubator in the NICU), but not this time, so I'm guessing the progesterone my midwife has me on was the right idea. That, and I'm just taking way better care of myself this time around.
My next appointment is next Monday. I'm curious about my weight. I don't feel heavier...bigger in the belly, yes, but I still feel like I'm all belly. It'll be a good way to start getting back in shape postpartum, if I weigh less right after giving birth than I did when I first got pregnant! As of last appointment, I hadn't gained anything except the weight I lost in the first half of the pregnancy.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@katiew92081: Wow, I'm so impressed with your weight gain (or lack there-of)! You're doing such a good job keeping it down and eating healthy and stuff! I'm so jealous!!! I've already gained 29 lbs (33 weeks) and I was only supposed to gain 25 total, haha, so you're doing way better than I am!!!
It's crazy to think that you had your son so early last time! I can't imagine giving birth right now - I'm just not ready!!! Were you totally unprepared? Our nursery isn't even done - the crib isn't put together, car seat isn't in the car, etc. Nothing! I'm just hoping baby stays in there until I get everything done, haha!
watermelon / 14206 posts
@adira: you know what's weird? I was prepared...I had this crazy instinct to get his nursery done so early. My mom even said how crazy I was for feeling like I NEEDED things to be done. But, even after he was born, I had 15 days to get anything else I needed done...which wasn't much.
This time? I'm not ready. My crib is at my mom's house, along with the stroller. I don't even own a carseat yet. She wouldn't be naked, but I don't even have diapers for her (actually, I'm getting some this afternoon.) But, I don't feel so urgent about it, and, even if she's born today, she wouldn't be home for a while. Just the fact that I don't feel so urgent (a little urgent...my nesting instinct is starting to really set in) makes me more secure in the fact that she's in it for the long haul.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@katiew92081: Oh wow, that's crazy!!! Glad to know that your instincts were right on top of things last time around! Hopefully that means they are accurate this time around too!
watermelon / 14206 posts
@adira: I had a feeling he was coming early...I didn't know it was going to be that early! lol
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@katiew92081: That is crazy that you had a feeling about him coming early. Jealous of your lack of weight gain. Glad she moved and you can breathe a little easier. I don't think that I am carrying low or high. I feel like I can breath just fine. Maybe she is just hanging out in the middle.
@Adira: I am scared to see my weight on Wed. First time going after Christmas. I was feeling good till I saw pictures from the shower, and I feel like my face has gotten so round.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: I hear you! I've actually been stepping on my own scale once a week and the numbers are NOT encouraging. Over the holidays, I gained soooo much weight, and my double-chin is back. I'm trying to get my eating back under control so hopefully I don't gain too much more for the rest of the pregnancy... I hope you're doing better than you think!
watermelon / 14206 posts
@smurfette: you did say your hands were swollen, so maybe the puffiness you saw in the picture was from the same thing? Maybe not related to weight gain as it is water retention.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: I am being a chicken and not getting on my scale at home.
@katiew92081: I like that thinking! If only there was something to do for the puffiness.
watermelon / 14206 posts
@adira: before I was pregnant, I had been wanting a scale for my bathroom. Now, i'm going to wait until after I have this girl, cause I just don't wanna know, lol.
@smurfette: are your feet swollen, too?
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@katiew92081: They don't look swollen to me. Wearing flats today, and they are a little loser fit but they are fitting fine.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: @katiew92081: If I only got weighed every 4 weeks, I think I'd be in even bigger trouble, haha. When I weigh myself once a week, it kind of helps me try to do better after a week where I gained 2 lbs! Although it's not a perfect system, haha, because I'll do bad one week, do well the next week, then do bad the following week! But I think if I didn't step on it at all, I'd have many more bad weeks and I'd be weighing even more!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: You know what scares me, how much would I have gained already if I wasn't still going to the gym. I wish I could do what I use too but at least something is better then nothing. Going to keep up with as long as I can, since I am scared how much I would gain otherwise.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Good for you still going to the gym! I think my weight gain started getting out of control when I stopped going around 20 weeks. I just recently bought a prenatal workout dvd, so I'm trying to do that 3 times a week and I'm hoping that will help me for the rest of the pregnancy!

@katiew92081: LOL! Ewww! That sounds disgusting to eat it out of the diaper! LMAO! I did play the melted candy bar/diaper game the very first time I hosted a shower. It was pretty funny though - co-ed and got lots of laughs.
@Smurfette: The rings fit different on me depending on the day. I already had swelling issues with my fingers since I could remember. So my e-ring is bigger than my wedding band. My stacking ring is in between the size of those two. And my anniversary ring I wear on my right hand is even bigger. So far I can still wear all of them, but anytime I feel hot or clamy, all my fingers get swollen. I've stopped wearing my right-hand ring this past week, because it's kind of thick and I felt like it was getting harder to take off. Now that we are in the freezing mountains right now, they are all too loose. The good thing is since all my rings are different sizes, I feel like I can wear at least one of them on any given day. lol. Note: I think the thinner the band, the easier/longer you can wear it even if you're swollen. IMO

@katiew92081: That's so nice about the baby dropping = better breathing! And great job on the water not leaking and the controlled weight gain or loss (depending on how you see it!)
@Smurfette: At my last appt. I was shocked at my weight gain over 2 weeks! To be fair, I was wearing tall boots, scarf, and a coat still (I was too cold to take anything off), but the OB did ask me about swelling and said I should be retaining water by now. So I took that to heart and figure my BabyCenter app said we are gaining 1lb/week now. So, I've been trying not to weigh myself anymore.

@shopaholic: @Adira: I was concerned about my weight gain too (up 22 lbs..wahhhh)..but my doctor said it's totally normal and expects me to gain 1 more lb each week for the next 10 weeks. I realy hope it's just water rentention because I'm still wearing clothes from my first trimester..so I really dont know where the weight is going!!!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@cokiezombie: You're wearing clothes from the first trimester??? Are they maternity clothes?? How is that possible?? Jealous!
bananas / 9973 posts
@cokiezombie: @Adira: Yes, my Dr. told me she wanted me to gain more weight too. It seems to have been fluctuating the past week and half though. I went up like 4 lbs at the one visit, but then last week was back down to an overall weight gain of about 16-17lbs. I'm not sure what it is now, but I honestly wish I didn't buy most of the maternity clothes I did. I've returned a couple of things that I could, but really still living in all my normal non-maternity clothes. The other day I couldn't believe I could still wear my regular jeans! They are low-rise though so sit mostly under the belly.

@Adira: I have no idea.. I bought these Gap maternity pants in my first tri and I'm still wearing them today! (probably coz they stretch??). and I have these longer sweaters/tunics from H&M which is just a size up from my usual pre-pregnancy size and I'm still wearing them. But still..where are the 22 pounds hiding??
@shopaholic: my bb shower is this weekend and I'm attending a wedding next month..so I have to go shopping for some cute & semi-formal-ish maternity dresses. I think it'll be my last maternity-related clothing purchase. I go on mat leave starting March and plan on just living in tights til the baby is here!!
bananas / 9973 posts
@cokiezombie: I found a couple of dresses last week (non-maternity) for the baby showers at Forever 21 and Zara and actually I like them better than anything I found at a maternity store (but that might just be my style and the fact that I'm kind of short 5'4") A lot of maternity clothes still look overwhelming on me and the Forever 21 ones were cheap enough that I won't feel guilty if I just wear them once or twice.
For the 2 weddings I've been to, I wore regular dresses too, just picked stretchy material or a shift dress shape to accentuate the bumps.
* ETA: SORRY IG pics are so huge!

@shopaholic: very cute! i havent bought any maternity dresses yet. so far i've only purchased regular tops from H&M a size up. I tried on their maternity dresses along with ASOS..but they are all so ill-fitted on me! I'm going to check out Zara & Forever 21 for sure (ahh..the joys of working in downtown SF!!)

Weird question: Am I the only one who doesn't have a name picked out for their upcoming LO? We had a lot of names picked out for our first one but with this one, we've been too busy - trying to buy a new house, being parents to our son, etc. With the days ticking down though, I feel a lot of pressure to come up with some options and we're struggling!
honeydew / 7589 posts
@NaturallyCathy: We don't have a name. We have it narrowed to five first names, still shaky on middle names. Hopefully we'll be able to settle on one before we leave the birth center.
bananas / 9973 posts
@cokiezombie: Yeah, I have been sizing up in some tops and sweaters, if just for some added length. I did find one cute H&M maternity sweater that I have been wearing though. And yes, SF has some GREAT shopping!
@NaturallyCathy: We had our names picked out early on, but a lot of people say they want to "meet" their LO and a name will come to them then!
apricot / 286 posts
@NaturallyCathy: We have some shortlisted names. I'm the most wishy-washy person ever..so I refuse to nail down a name until I meet the little one and decides what name is more fitting for him ..although we have a middle name already.
GOLD / grapefruit / 4555 posts
@Arden: I have written down somewhere a list of names we didn't use from the first time around for both boys and girls (since we don't know the gender for this LO either), but for the life of me I can't find it. I know I'm partial to Thomas for a first name but my DH isn't that thrilled with it. As for girls, well... girls are tricky, especially with middle names. I feel like the only good girl middle names are the simple ones, like Mary or Ann or something but then again, I'm not that creative when it comes to names.
And it took us up until the lady came by with the paperwork a second time to get a middle name for the birth certificate before we finally settled on something. And that was the day before we were released!
@shopaholic: We had a list of names for our last one but we had a pretty good idea that it was a boy - a hunch, nothing more - so when it came time to meet our LO in person, that part was easy. Funnily enough, when we first saw him all cleaned up, he looked like his name. But like I said above, the middle name was a long hard debate until we couldn't put it off any longer.
@cokiezombie: I'm envious of your short list and your solid middle name. If it's a girl, I'm probably going to settle on something simple for a middle name - right after I figure out a first name! If it's a boy, we'll probably have a repeat situation as above. First name nailed down, middle name in the air. I just feel like we're so behind at 33 weeks. Nothing's really 'ready' although there's really not that much to -get- ready!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@NaturallyCathy: We have a name picked out, think a middle too. DH is for sure on the middle, I can't decide but can think of anything better.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@NaturallyCathy: I can't give you any advice since we actually had our boy's name picked out well in advance of even trying to get pregnant! Finding a girl's name that we both liked was challenging, but ended up not being necessary since we're having a boy. But I think it's pretty common for people to wait and see if a name comes to them once the baby shows up! The Bees (Mr. and Mrs. Bee) were actually hitting up Hellobee while they were in the hospital for baby name advice when they had their daughter!
