@NaturallyCathy: It's a fantastic herb to help tone the uterus and it can shorten labor. I take it too.

@Arden: Thanks. Never heard of it. Kinda like I don't know why pregnant women aren't supposed to sleep on their backs, even though I've been through this once already...

You'd think I know more stuff but I guess all I know is the experience part of everything.

@NaturallyCathy: I only heard about RRL through @arden. Curious to see if it helps shorten labor! (Not that I have anything to compare it to ...)

  4. Mrs. Grizzly Bear

    GOLD / grapefruit / 4555 posts

@aprk: I'm not sure I have much to compare it to either, considering they had to induce labor with pitocin because my water broke the day before. I think I checked in around eight, they had me hooked up to the pitocin around eight thirty, my son was born just a little before four thirty.

But then again, we had a problem getting my contractions going and then they never regulated. Maybe if I had taken the red raspberry leaves then they would have regulated and the labor would have been shorter. Or not have needed the pitocin at all!

  5. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@aprk: I might try that. Although I already have pretty short labors.

@smurfette: maybe you can do a cute photo shoot with gown. Easter is not far after then either so maybe she can wear it then.

I have been burping so much today. Tums have been my friend today even though they haven't helped much.

@Arden: @aprk: Looks like I wouldn't be able to have any because my family has a history of breast cancer - thus why I went ahead and had a bi-lateral breast reduction surgery when I was only 20.

@NaturallyCathy: I can't take it either for the same reason

@aprk: Yay for your shower too! It was a busy weekend for early March mommas! Glad your crib is set up! I started taking the RRL (well, when I remember) a few weeks ago I think. I was already getting BH contractions pretty regularly before, so I'm not sure if I can attribute the stronger & more frequent BHs to the RRL, but I would definitely be happier with a short and sweet labor!

@shopaholic: Regarding the fatigue, YES! It's definitely back! I had been noticing it on and off the last couple days, but last night, it was killer! At 9:00 p.m., I thought I was just going to pass out!

@aprk: Glad you had fun at your shower!! Did you get some good loot?? And that's awesome that your husband put your crib together! My parents are coming over this weekend and are going to help me put mine together. Hubs would do it if I asked, but my parents love that kind of stuff, so I figured we'd have them do it instead, haha.

Anyone still having problems getting into the babies r us registry? I haven't been able to get in all week. When I go to login, it just takes me to the toys r us website. Ugh

@katiew92081: I have been having issues for like a week. Sometimes I can get in and sometimes I can't.

  12. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@smurfette: I just tried from my husband's computer and got in no problem. I'm scanning my computer now for spyware, cause I have a feeling it could be the culprit.

Yay!! All three of my rings fit today. They aren't even tight at all. Slept great last night and my back isn't hurting as much today. I hope these all mean today is going to be a good day.

I peaked my BBB registry, someone got some hooded towels, washcloths, and diapers. So that is something. I think I need to stop looking, or going to try too, so I am surprised at the shower with the gifts. And stop stressing about people not buying off it. Going to just be grateful for anything that people want to buy for her. Just fingers crossed the clothes are cute!

For anyone curious, I just posted the entry about what I'll be packing/have already packed in my hospital bag on my blog. Hopefully it'll help some of you with making your list of what to pack!

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@katiew92081: So I'm able to log in at work, but I can't seem to access it at home! I don't know what the issue is!

@Smurfette: When is your shower? I registry stalked until the Thursday before (although it helped that BRU started acting up and I couldn't check it on-line anyway). It's always exciting to see that people are buying stuff though! And I did notice after my shower that some items were purchased but still on my registry, so they must've been purchased elsewhere.

@NaturallyCathy: Thanks! I'm checking your blog out now!

  16. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: It is Sunday at 1. I am excited. Just need to figure out what to wear since it is supposed to be cold. I had that from my last shower, people went to Target and got stuff based on what I did register for. I think most from this shower will shop at BBB since it is closer then BRU. I know my Mom hasn't bought anything yet but I am really hoping the IL are going to buy a bigger item.

  17. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@adira: Some people might have gone off your registry, but didn't tell the store to cross it off. Or, yeah, purchased elsewhere.

@smurfette: Yay for rings fitting! And, you were worried last night about that, lol. It's cooler today, though, maybe that has something to do with it? When it got warmer a couple weeks ago, I know I was uncomfortable, sweating and all.

  18. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Oh my gosh, I'm excited for you! I hope you have fun at your shower!! I have no advice on clothes. It was cold though, so I wore maternity jeans, a bright t-shirt, and a belted sweater. Plus a pair of flats. I didn't really dress up, but I looked nice enough.

Hubs Dad and Step-Mom haven't bought anything for us yet either. His Step-Mom wasn't in town for the shower so she didn't make it. I'm kind of hoping they buy us SOMETHING, but I don't know how to find out if they are planning to or not. Now that my shower has passed, I kind of want to buy the items we still need, but I'm not sure if I should wait a few weeks in case they are planning on getting us stuff off our registry...

  19. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@katiew92081: I think today is it warmer here then it was yesterday. This morning was freezing though, so that could be part of it. Either way I will take it!
@NaturallyCathy: Thanks! Going to read it now.

  20. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: Could you maybe email/call them and mention in the conversation that now your showers are over you need to go and buy everything you didn't get so you are ready for his arrival. Then see if they mention anything about buying you something?

I think that I will end up wearing black pants and some kind of top and flats. I feel like everyone else will be a little dressier. I should check with my Mom and sister and see what they are wearing.

  21. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Hmm, maybe! When we saw them over the holidays, they mentioned wanting to get together with us sometime in February. I think they are actually still on travel until this weekend, so I won't be able to get in touch with them until they come back. I wonder if I should wait for them to initiate the "Let's get-together!" thing or I should do it...

Definitely ask your mom and sister what they are wearing!!! I talked to my mom and she was dressing up (slacks, nice shirt, blazer, etc) and she thought it was a good idea for me to dress a little down (a.k.a. jeans) because that way no matter what anyone else wore, they'd match one of us and wouldn't feel awkward about how dressed up or down they were!

  22. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: Good idea. I was thinking jeans would be more comfortable. DH is coming out after the shower since we are going to dinner with my parents, siblings, and nephews for Dad's, DH and mine bday dinner.

  23. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@NaturallyCathy: Thanks for the post! It was really helpful and I will definitely be referring to it when I get around to packing our hospital bag! I'm thinking that first weekend in February is when I'll want to pack our bag and get the car seat installed, just to be on the safe side!

@Smurfette: Jeans are definitely comfy, although my maternity slacks feel like sweats, so they're pretty comfy too, haha. That's awesome that your husband is coming out after the shower to go out to dinner! That will be so much fun! I know it's common for the baby-daddy to show up at the end of the shower to say hi to everyone and help collect gifts, but my husband didn't do that, haha. You're lucky yours is.

  24. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: Well he doesn't really have a choice Plus we are keeping everything at my parents house, so this way he gets to see everything. Then my parents are going to bring everything to the new house next weekend, when they come to paint and go pick up the glider for us.

  25. Mrs. Grizzly Bear

    GOLD / grapefruit / 4555 posts

@Adira: I'm glad it was helpful I included explanations so people could decide whether or not they should pack what I'm packing.

    @Smurfette: Hope it helps!

  26. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: So I got all my friends to pack up my car at the end of the shower and I get home and Hubs helps unload the car and I'm all "Want to see what we got???" and he's like "Eh, I don't care." My husband has ZERO interest in baby stuff, haha. I just hope he'll be interested in the actual baby when he shows up!

  27. Mrs. Grizzly Bear

    GOLD / grapefruit / 4555 posts

@Adira: You have no idea how thrilled I was I didn't have to twist my husband's arm to get him to go to both baby showers we had last year. He actually enjoyed talking and seeing everyone's reaction more than he cared what we got - so long as it was something we needed, he was content. So you're not alone, I promise, in the 'Eh, don't care' boat. I doubt he'd notice a new towel if I brought one home for the baby if I didn't shove it in his face and squee about it...

  28. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: When I got home from the 1st shower, we got everything unloaded from the car and I was like let me show you what we got. Didn't give him much of a choice, but he did ask what some stuff was and commented on how cute some of the clothes were.

  29. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: and no doubt he is going to be thrilled and interested when the little guy shows up!

  30. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@naturallycathy: Great blog post! A checklist! That's exactly what I need for those last few things I can't pack ahead of time. I don't know why I didn't thik of something as simple as that, haha. I guess I like to make things complicated!

@adira: My husband is a great sport when he's pretending to care about baby stuff. He's into the carseat, cause it's a safety issue, but anything else he just smiles and nods and pretends to be interested, lol. I show him everything after I shop for the baby, and he's like, "nice!" all while reading up on NFL forums at the same time, lol.

  31. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@NaturallyCathy: @Smurfette: @katiew92081: I have just shown him a couple things that I know he'd be interested in (or I at least think he would be) and he's polite enough to pretend interest even if he's not, haha. But I decided not to waste my time (or his) showing him all the gifts, since I knew he really wouldn't be that interested.

Although when I bought the crib set (quilt, sheet, etc) with the little grey elephants on them, I did NOT let him get away with not seeing them or commenting! I was all "Isn't this the CUTEST THING EVER???" and his response was something along the lines of "OMG, I LOVE THE ELEPHANTS!!!!" Even though I know he's just being totally overboard for my benefit, I appreciated his fake enthusiasm!

  32. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@adira: Aw, that's the best! Knowing that he doesn't care, but he totally supports the fact that you do.

  33. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: Aww, that is sweet! I think in general men just don't care as much as we do about the stuff for babies.

  34. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@katiew92081: haha, yes, it was totally cute!

@Smurfette: I agree that's probably true! I think the only items from my shower that my husband was actually interested in are the geeky onesies we got. One of our friend got us a onesie that has a computer on it and says "newbie" and another friend got us one that said "Player 2". Hubs is a big gamer, so I think he thought those were cute. But the other items, he's not very interested in. He doesn't care about hooded towels or socks or diapers, etc.

  35. Mrs. Grizzly Bear

    GOLD / grapefruit / 4555 posts

@Smurfette: @katiew92081: @Adira: It is super sweet he tried and Gordon does the same for me. And I concur, in general men don't care as much about what goes in the nursery so long as it's doing what it's supposed to. Bumper pads to pad the side of the crib? Self explanatory and necessary. Sure why not. Curtains to keep it a little darker? Sure. You want to paint the walls blue? Great. At this point I think they're so grateful for carrying their child and the burden for so long that they'll do just about anything to make you happy.

At least that's the way I feel sometimes. Gordon's been great about being interested in clothes now that Henry's older and he's more likely to agree with me when my MIL tries to force something crazy on Henry. And he's always willing to help get him dressed or change the crib or take the diaper pail out. They're there when it counts and care when it counts. The rest is just frills for us

  36. Dandelion

@naturallycathy: Yes, men have more interest in need based things. My husband researched the best carseat for our family...but he let me pick out the color, lol.

    Ugh...I'm a wimp.

Most of my days, I'm a stay at home mom. But once in a while I temp as a receptionist at a mission organization here in Charlotte. Today was one of those days, and I went in for 3 hours. It involved sitting, answering phones every now and then, and playing on the computer (I was on hb a lot during that time today!)

I'm exhausted!!! I'm so tired of being tired this whole pregnancy! With my son I was waiting tables up til my delivery. This time I can't even sit at a desk for 3 hours. Ugh.

The funny part was when the place I temp at for catering called me this afternoon to work 8 hours on Saturday at a wedding. Mind you, they haven't called me since last summer. It was a little entertaining to tell them I was 7 months pregnant, and they'd have to accomodate me. They told me nevermind, haha. I wasn't gonna go do it anyways...not if I can't even make it 3 hours at a desk!

I can't imagine being this tired after I have this kid.

  38. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@katiew92081: I want to fall asleep at my desk multiple times a day. So I hear ya. I really want to go home and take a nap but going to make my self go to the gym for a little bit. My restless leg syndrome is acting up today, so I need some exercise since that always helps it. Going to be an early night for me. Hopefully anyway.

I can't imagine being a waitress and this pregnant. Nor working 8 hours on my feet.

@smurfette: There was no way I would have accepted to work this weekend. Even if I wasn't perpetually exhausted, they're terrible at that particular venue for not giving breaks and not being able to get even a drink of water. Before being pregnant I wasn't thrilled with it. There's no way I'd do it being this pregnant.
