I know this is belated (since it was like two pages ago) but I wanted to share a 'bump' photo. For the record, I have never deliberately taken a bump photo before so be kind! I also just got out of the shower and dressed. Please excuse the mess in the picture...

And yes I am smiling, you can just barely see it because I'm so pale!

@Smurfette: @katiew92081: Thanks I got my hair cut yesterday (which you can barely see but it touches my collar bone now instead of nearly reaching my waist) and the lady who saw me looked at me kinda askance when I told her I was nine months pregnant. Granted, I was wearing a t-shirt way too big for me and that didn't give me any curves what-so-ever but she goes, "You're tiny!" It was fun getting the shocked expression on her face when I told her this was my second.

@naturallycathy: When I took my son a couple weeks ago to get his hair cut, the lady asked if he had any brothers or sisters, and he proudly exclaimed that he's about to have a sister. She looked at me funny, but I guess the way I was sitting with my coat on, it was actually hard to tell. I sat up and said yep, lol. I'm pretty small everywhere else, thanks to all the weight I haven't gained, so I guess if you don't see my belly, you don't really notice!

I think now, though, it would be hard for people to not notice! I get looks everywhere!

@katiew92081: A few weeks ago, I was getting lunch after my doctor's appointment and two girls I went to high school turned out to be working at this place. I was wearing a coat at the time too and they asked me if I was over here for a doctor's appointment or just shopping. I told them doctor's appointment, I was 34 weeks pregnant. They looked at me like I was crazy, so I moved the coat some and they said 'Oh!' Funny thing was they didn't remember my name until I walked out the door! They knew they knew me but the name had totally slipped them by.

@NaturallyCathy: Oh my gosh, your bump is so cute!!! How far along are you? I feel like all you ladies have such petite bumps and mine is like "HELLO!!!!! LOOK AT ME!!! I'M A BEACHED WHALE!!!!"

  8. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@adira: I feel huge, too. I'm so ungraceful and helpless it just makes me feel like a cow! Reaching things, trying to go from laying to standing in the middle of the night, picking things up, lifting things (even not heavy stuff!) just all makes me feel so lame, haha. And, now with her head wedged into my pelvis, it feels like she's gonna fall right out of me any second, which makes even walking a chore.

So, even if I look smaller (which I probably don't...I'll do a bump pic soon!) I definitely FEEL like a whale!

    I'm so glad it's February!

@katiew92081: The hardest thing for me to do it seems is roll over, haha. I'll be laying on my left side and then want to roll to my right and it's such a production! My husband makes fun of me EVERY NIGHT, lol.

Only 4 more weeks to go (for me)!!!

  10. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: You are not a whale. But I know the feeling. People are work are commenting on how I am waddling down the halls. But I can't help it cause of my back hurting so much. Yeah, rolling over at night is humorous. And I still have 5 1/2 weeks to go!

  11. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: haha, I waddle too! Every morning, my project has a standup meeting that's held in our lab, so I have to waddle down the hallway and down the stairs to get to the lab. My coworkers all just whiz right by me because I'm so slow!

I think I must look extra huge today or something because I've been getting the STARES! And the COMMENTS! Some random woman shouted at me in the cafe "One more month!" And then later in the day, another random woman asked what I was having and how much longer I had. And the MEN! They just stare at the belly as I walk by!

I did get my doctor to sign off on closer parking to the building though, so now I don't have a 1/3 mile walk from my car anymore! Yay!!!

@Adira: 36 weeks. Just took it today. Was at my 36 week appointment yesterday.

And you do NOT look like a beached whale!

@NaturallyCathy: So jealous of your cute bump. Mine used to be cute like that... at like 28 weeks. Then it grew into a monster!

@NaturallyCathy: You are so pretty and what a lovely bump!

OK, I can barely keep up in the mornings with this thread! lol!

I got another Charley horse on Monday morning when I woke up and been sore and limping since yesterday. Feel like such a dork limping around everywhere!

Got DH to blow up my larger yoga ball last night and started sitting on it for hopefully some relief.

The Free Childbirth Prep class I took last night was just so-so. It was only about 1 hr 45 min. It was helpful in learning the stages of labor and average time (15-17 hours for an average labor) and what the cervix dilation visually looks like. THAT was an eye opener! Basically 1 cm is the size of a Cheerios and 10 cm is the size of a Bagel! Besides that and some "slow and steady breathing", I don't really feel more prepared or anything. Hopefully our paid-for-all-day-class next week will have more real labor tips.

@shopaholic: Thanks sweetie. I feel like I look dreadful. Should have dried my hair first but I was trying to snap a quick shot while Henry slept (he's still sleeping!) And I get the worse Charley horses in the middle of the night sometimes, so I feel your pain!

@adira: haha, yes, rolling is becoming something that requires a lot of skill! Rolling over and then getting up out of bed? Forget it. I don't even try for grace with that anymore!

    @smurfette: I waddle, too...now that she's dropped, it's impossible not to waddle!

  19. Smurfette

@shopaholic: a bagel, that is it? A baby's head it way bigger then that. How can you not tear then?

We have our labor and delivery class tonight. So I will report tomorrow what we get out of it. I am afraid it is going to make me even more afraid of labor.

  20. shopaholic

    bananas / 9973 posts

@Smurfette: Yeah. She said a bagel is about 10cm circumference and an average baby's head is 14-15cm! The way it works it that the baby's skull plates actually fold over itself (hence why a lot of babies get a cone-head for a couple of days) to squeeze out. It's called "molding".

I've found a small solution to my dresser-moving issue last night. I just moved all the drawers inside first myself, lined them, and stacked them according to the way the dresser would have them. I just put in a load of whatever else I wanted to wash before the baby comes! 1 crib sheet, 1 mattress protector, 1 changing pad cover, swaddle blankets, towel and washcloths, etc.! I've started arranging things in the drawers now. And just took out the stroller from the box! Eek! It's getting REAL! And I'm totally pooped now! Debating between eating lunch or taking a nap!

  21. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@shopaholic: Yeah I read about how the baby's skull overlaps each other during labor. Still though....I am just getting really freaked out about labor and how much it is going to hurt. Such a chicken. Can't wait to see how your dresser turns out. I vote for lunch and then a nap!

I can't wait to start prepping for baby this weekend after we move in. I am feeling overwhelmed with all that I need to do since we have done nothing so far. The good thing is I am not washing a lot of clothes before hand. Going to wait and see what size she is first. I don't want to wash a bunch of newborn clothes and then have her wear them for a week and then go to 0-3.

Ahhh- i am like 5 pages behind! I need to sit down and get updated on everyone!

Had my shower this weekend- its was awesome! 50 people and we got some really amazing gifts! People were so generous! The best present I got was from my grandmother (who passed away in Nov) apparently she had given a handknit blanket she made for our LO to my cousin (before she passed away) and asked her to make sure we got it. When my cousin told the story behind the blanket- the whole room was in tears! It was such a nice moment- we enjoyed every minute of our shower!
Also- i have been having some stomach problems the last few days (since last week actually) which required several calls to the Dr and a prescription to "get things moving" if you know what I mean. Seriously- I felt terrible for a couple days and it was bad. Things are a bit better know- but I can feel myself cutting down on eating a bunch so I dont feel as bad as I did on Mon/Tues.
Quick Question: Anyone else's husband getting nervous about the baby coming- soon? My husband is so stresssed out about the baby and that he is coming in like 7 weeks and he doesnt feel ready- and basically he is just being super cranky about it... Maybe its just him- but we still have plenty of time- some of you girls are going in just a few weeks!!

    Hope everyone is doing well!!

@cheert16: oh my the story of your grandmother and the blanket is so amazing! I would've cried too!

Dh is excited. We're both just ready to meet this LO! Tour poor dh...I could see how its so nerve racking for men. Up til labor its all been on us. Now that its closer they realize it's their baby too lol.

My feet are officially swelling. Mostly my right. It gets pretty gross looking by the end of the day. My hands are worse in the mornings and get better as the day goes on. Not intense swelling on either end but enough to easily notice.

I'm getting poked with a foot on a regular basis too. She likes to stretch out and it feels so weird! I just gently rub the offending foot and it seems to make her relax.

  25. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@cheert16: That is so special that your grandma made a blanket and gave to someone to make sure you got it. I would have cried too.

Labor and delivery class was good. DH and I both feel like we learned lot. It was very informal, only 3 other couples, but we really liked the lady. She talked about how to deal with labor at home, what it is like when get to the hospital and then how to push so you get that baby out.

Now we just need to find an infant cpr class to take.

@shopaholic: Oh my gosh, you're getting so productive!!! I need to start washing stuff!!! I'm so jealous you're making progress, haha. I think this weekend, I'm going to start doing stuff like that!

@Smurfette: I'm doing the same as you and not washing a ton of clothes beforehand. I'll probably wash a couple of my going-home outfits and then see how big the baby is and figure out what I need to wash (and what I can return).

@cheert16: Congratulations on a wonderful shower!!! So happy you got so many items!!! That's so amazing about your grandmother - what a wonderful gift!! And so meaningful!!

Umm.... my husband does not seem nervous at all. He kind of seems normal, like he doesn't realize this is happening in less than 4 weeks... it's making ME nervous, haha.

@katiew92081: I think I'm getting poked by a foot too! Definitely every so often, it feels like the baby is stretching out and there's something sticking up by my ribs uncomfortably! I gently press on it to make him move it, haha.

Oh my gosh, ladies, I have my prenatal massage last night and it was AMAZING!!!! I've never gotten a massage before, so I was kind of nervous, but the place I went to and the woman who did it were awesome! At mine, you start off laying on your side, and she rubs your back and side (and hips and legs) and then you switch sides and she does the other side, and then you get to lay on your back (sort of at an angle to get some decent lower back support) and she rubbed my arms and feet and stuff. It was sooooooooooo nice. And she had pillows to support my belly and to go between my legs. It was so relaxing, I started drooling on the table - oops. I definitely am doing this again the next time I'm pregnant!

This morning I got my stroller out of my parents' shed. I knew it was going to need cleaning, since it's been in there for 3 years, but I have my work cut out for me today! I'm glad it's here, though. It's the last of the major baby items I needed to have to feel ready.

@adira: The massage sounds nice! I ave been thinking about getting one, but I feel too lazy to even get a massage, haha. I'm really glad you enjoyed yours!

So this morning we were sitting in a presentation room waiting for a meeting and I was talking to some women and they asked me if I was having any swelling. So I pulled my pant legs and pretty sure my ankles are on the way to looking like cankles. I guess packing everynight and not resting is catching up with me. I could only wear one wedding band today. Bummer.

Then another lady said to me as I was walking by, aww look at the puffy girl. Seriously??? I wanted to say back listen honey, I am still skinny then you and I am pregnant. Why in the world does she think that was ok to say to say to someone? I am sure she meant it joking, but still. Not like I wasn't feeling like a whale already today. Thank, lady, really appreciate it.

And it is raining here, so I can't move stuff to the new house like I wanted too. Looks like I will just get everything else packed tonight instead.

Apparently today is not my day.

  31. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@smurfette: Ah...how rude. Punch her, lol. I'm totally kidding, but I'm sure the thought would cross my mind haha. I'm swollen, too. At least you have a good excuse to be so puffy...what's her excuse? LOL

It's raining here, too. But, if you're swelling and everything, maybe the rain making you take a break isn't a bad idea. Just enjoy the laziness of the weather and get moving again once it passes over.

My feet are swelling more often, too. In the late evenings my right foot looks pretty bad. But, in the middle of the night, I pee all the retained water out, lol. Lovely, I know...

  32. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@katiew92081: I would love to take the night off but I have to get the rest of the packing done. I think that if I go straight home from work, I can knock it out in a couple hours, even with taking some rest breaks. Then tonight I can watch some TV and rest. I know that it is going to be a busy weekend moving and unpacking. I was fine on Tuesday, but yesterday I noticed my rings were pretty tight as the day went on. I guess another good thing about being pregnant during the winter is pants cover up the ankle/leg swelling!

  33. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@smurfette: I haven't had my ring on in a few days. I keep waking up with puffy hands. Even though later in the day they're usually ok, I forget to take it off and wake up having to really work to get it off. I think I may use this opportunity to get it cleaned and inspected, lol

  34. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Gahhh!!! Who points out that someone is puffy???? That's so rude!!! I would have been all "Yeah, well I'm pregnant, what's your excuse?" How horrible! (Actually, I'm a wuss and avoid confrontation, so I would've gone into the bathroom and cried, but that's what I would've WANTED to say)

Any of your ladies in the New England area? We're supposed to get two feet of snow tomorrow!!! Needless to say, I'm skipping work tomorrow!

Oh my gosh, girls, I got a save-the-date for a wedding at the end of July, so now I have a MUST-LOSE-BABY-WEIGHT date!!! Ugh!!! Anyone else already thinking about having to lose the baby weight?? I'll have 20 weeks from my due date until the wedding... I'm hoping I'll be able to lose 20 lbs in that time maybe... maybe I'll lose 10 during the delivery... that will probably put me 10 up from pre-pregnancy (since I'm a fatty who can't stop eating)... ugh!

Alright I just gotta put it out there... anyone else's DH "afraid of doing the deed" during pregnancy? I've been feeling frisky for the past few weeks and my DH won't get near me because he's scared of hurting me or the baby. I need an outlet because I'm so frustrated! Esp when the baby comes in another 6 weeks + recovery time, I'm probably looking at May before I get any action! I find it ironic that the act that got me here in the first place is now just a fantasy... (sad face)

  40. Mrs. Grizzly Bear

    GOLD / grapefruit / 4555 posts

@cokiezombie: Lately, I've been feeling the opposite of frisky. DH has been practically attacking me (gently) every few days in bed. On the one hand, I know it's a good thing since it keeps things soft down there but in terms of actual pleasure gained, the only time that happens is during alone time. I feel bad for DH since he tries so hard and he clearly is still enjoying it - and me - but at the same time, every time we do it now I'm paranoid about it starting labor before we've gotten the house taken care of!

    It's driving me crazy! Ah!
