@Adira: Yep..must really lean forward to get a good steady stream. Otherwise it's a sloooow trickle. Oh..TMI..but wiping is really hard too! (both ways..ugh!)

I'm so jealous of the early-March due date mamas! You gals are sooo close! I have a feeling I'll be sticking around this board through mid March and thinking of what I can do to induce labor while you ladies will be discussing post-partum stuff like BF'ing, poopie diapers

@cokiezombie: oooh...wiping...yes, that is difficult! I can't seem to reach around my belly all that well! It ends up taking quite a while to make sure I'm totally clean!

So, we've been looking at land for sale today and we found some acreage that we LOVE. We went and looked at it on our own, so now just waiting for the realtor on the sign to return our call! Ahh...Saturdays! lol

Other than that, we've had a peaceful weekend. How is everyone doing?

@katiew92081: I survived Henry's first birthday party, although not gracefully. But in my defense, towards the end of the party I was experiencing some pangs which were making me cranky.

Well thanks to my family and a good friend they had everything moved and unloaded in three hours. Still some small things at the condo but we are getting settled. Aunts and Mom got the kitchen unpacked. My Dad and brother got the crib and glider up! Now the guys are hanging tv's. mom is doing laundry for me.
I keep getting yelled at to rest. So weird having someone else do everything for me! Having major swelling in my legs so I know I need to rest.

  9. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@smurfette: Enjoy it...you only have a small window of time to claim the rest, so take it! So glad you got it all moved!

@naturallycathy: Glad you survived! Are you going to post some pictures? I'm interested in how the owl cake turned out!

The realtor called me back and we're going back to the lot tomorrow with a possible chance of making an offer! So, fingers crossed that this will all go smoothly! We're too in love with the property to get our hopes dashed, haha.

@katiew92081: As a personal rule, I don't post pictures of my family - me's one thing, my son's something else. Paranoid, you could say, I just don't want him everywhere. I -did- get a picture of my mom's version of the owl cake She called it a cake wreck but I think she did pretty well. But then again, it is my mom we're talking about and it meant I didn't have to bake a cake! She also made yummy cupcakes with the rest of the icing from the owl cake.

@naturallycathy: It turned out great!! Did she have an owl shaped pan, or was that a result of some awesome cake sculpting?

I don't put my son's pic out there, either. I do on FB, but it's locked to friends only, so any Joe Schmoe can't just see him.

@katiew92081: To borrow a computer term, that was cutting and pasting. It started out as a regular sheet cake and she carved it out, used some of the icing to add extra bits where needed. I wasn't there when she did it but I'm still super impressed.

@katiew92081: Yes! There are three of us that are full term tomorrow!! Myself, @Mrs. Mousie, and @NaturallyCathy!! I can't believe some of us could start having babies any day now!!! I'm curious to see if we all end up being March Mommas or not, haha.

@Adira: Yay! We are all so close to meeting our babies. I bet you we will have a couple February babies in this group with so many of us due at the very beginning of the month.

Happy Lunar New Year! We are spending the morning with family -- and then the evening on the couch. We are trying to get in as much relaxation (and naps) as possible!

@mole: Yay!!! Are you all ready for the baby? Got your hospital bag packed, car seat installed, etc? I'm still not totally ready, but I'm definitely closer and starting to feel less freaked out about the idea of going into labor, haha.

Yay to all the Full Term Mommies! Let the countdowns begin!

Happy Lunar New Years to those of you who celebrate too!
Baby Shopaholic got her first few "red envelopes" of "lucky money" last night from some of DHs family at their big New Year's dinner. Not much real $, just a cute gesture! I put them in her crib for now until she arrives!

We did our maternity photoshoot yesterday and I think it was a success! The place required a photog permit and they were suspect of us for doing a photoshoot and wouldn't let us bring any extra clothes or props. So I didn't even have a jacket or anything to change into. But, overall, I think/hope we got some cute pics. She said it would take her about a month to process the pics - and I'm just hoping we'll get SOME to share with you guys before the baby arrives!

Totally pooped today from yesterday's very long day. Hoping to just relax and stay warm inside today. Hope everyone's having a nice weekend!

@NaturallyCathy: So cute! Glad that he had a great birthday.
@mole: woo hoo! Full term, come on baby mole!
@shopaholic: so glad your maternity shoot went good!

Been in the baby's room. Went through boxes, sort things into piles (toys, decor, bath stuff) so now I just need to figure out where it is all going. Have a huge pile of blankets, towels, clothes, and way too many socks to wash.

And my leg swelling is down today. Guess everyone making me rest yesterday helped. That and we went to bed at 930 and slept till 730. I fell back asleep right after every bathroom trip. It was great, haven't been able to do that in a while.

@NaturallyCathy: Cute cake! Glad you guys had a nice birthday celebration.
@Adira: I think we are almost as ready as we are going to be! The nursery is pretty much finished. My hospital bag is packed, but I haven't finished putting together our thank you gift for the hospital staff (a bag filled with a bunch of healthy and not-so-healthy snacks and coffee packs). The carseat base and seat are installed in one of our cars. We've finished all of our classes, and we only have one more prenatal meeting with our doula. Whew.
@shopaholic: Glad to hear that your shoot was successful!
@Smurfette: Congrats on your move! That's great that your swelling went down. I had to take off my rings this afternoon for the first time, but I am hoping that I can put them back on tomorrow.

@shopaholic: Glad your photo shoot went well!!! Can't wait to see the pictures!

@Smurfette: Sounds like you're making good progress with the nursery! And that's great that the swelling is down today - definitely a good sign!

@mole: Sounds like you're more ready than me, haha. I'm jealous! I meant to install the car seat and pack my hospital bag today but... oops, that didn't happen!

@dojo: Thanks Welcome, by the way. Thought I had said so earlier and I realized I hadn't! I'm sorry Silly iPhone...

@Adira: It's not something I could do either, which is why I'm grateful she tackled the task for me. And it is -delicious-, even if it is store bought cake mix and icing!

@Smurfette: @mole: Thanks He's still my little hunny bunny even if he is a year old now.

I've come to the conclusion that the hormones that have been simmering under the surface these past few months have decided to come into full swing this week and my poor DH has to agree. These past few days alone, I've been an emotional wreck. Any little thing has sent me into tears and I'm not usually a weepy person.

In other news, my GBS test results were sent to me tonight in an email from my doctor. Turns out I -do- have Group B Strep - which sent me into a fresh bout of tears, let me tell you. Apparently, according to my doctor, it's no big deal. They'll just give me antibiotics whenever I go into labor. I called my BIL, who is also a doctor, and he confirmed it. Even my mom said that I'll be fine but it's still not happy news, full term or not!

  27. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@NaturallyCathy: I hear you on hormones. I started crying to DH tonight about house stuff. Stressing how he is going to get stuff done here, something came up tonight that is now immediate and getting stuff done before the renters move in the condo. I feel guilty cause I can't do anything. He told me that I have a much more important job, taking care of baby girl, which means not stressing so she doesn't come early. I know he is right but I still cried for like 30 mins. Crazy town!

Sorry about the strep b test but I have heard it isn't a huge deal. My doctor warned me already that it just means antibiotics when you go into labor. Still I know not something you want to deal with.

  28. Dandelion

@naturallycathy: Don't worry about the group b test. The antibiotics they give you will protect your baby and all will be fine!

@NaturallyCathy: Awww, sorry about the GBS test! I've heard it's not a big deal too and that they just give you antibiotics while in labor, but still, it's one more thing that's annoying.

I'm 35/35! DS asked me this morning how many days left until due date, and then I remembered what @adira said, lol. Of course I told him that it's not exact and pretty much she'll come when she comes. I'm sure he feels like he's been waiting for an eternity! Seems like it's been a long 8 months to me, but when you're 5, time is even longer!

Well, we found some land that we love. We're just getting our Realtor to look into it so that we can do what we want with it. Hopefully we'll finally be able to put an offer on something! All weekend we looked for stuff. We were surprised how scarce a good listing was and every time we found some land or house we liked, there was something about it that made it not quite right.

But, this one seems good so far, so fingers crossed! It's only acreage, so we'll still have to build on it, but every little step counts!

@katiew92081: Yay! Congrats on 35/35!!! That's a fun milestone, I feel. It was at that point that I started counting down the days!

Ooooh, good luck with that piece of land!!! Are you going to look some more before putting an offer on it, or go ahead with an offer? Buying property is always exciting!

@katiew92081: That is great you found some land that you like. Building would be fun. You would get to make the house exactly how you want it.

I guess I was 35/35 yesterday since I turned to 35 weeks yesterday.

Last Tuesday, 5th, was my birthday, and I thought it is was cool I turned 34 when I was 34 weeks pregnant.

@Adira: Did you survive the snow? Lose power over the weekend? You better not have been shoveling any snow!

  33. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Ooooh, turing 34 at 34 weeks pregnant is kind of cool! Happy Belated Birthday!!

We survived the storm!! I actually went shopping in the morning during it, haha. It wasn't snowing too bad until later in the evening, so I went to Target and bought some supplies for the nursery (baskets mostly for storage). And we didn't lose power at all, so that was nice.

We got about 20 inches of snow, which wasn't too bad. It was just over the top of the snow blower. And no! No shoveling or anything for me!!! Hubs kept joking about me doing it, and I would just laugh and be all "Ha ha, nice try buddy." And he went out and snow blowed and shoveled and had no complaints, so YAY!!! Finally made some progress with him, haha!

  34. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: Glad that you survived the storm. Even more that DH did the shoveling and blowing and no complaints about it.

What kind of baskets did you get for storage? I am going to go out this weekend to Ikea and look for drawer organizers. I think that we need to get some kind of bookcase to go in the nursery as well. We have no where for books to go.

I just feel lost on how/what is the best way to organize things in the nursery. Like where do I put the million pacifiers we have? Headbands/hairbows?

I realized yesterday that we didn't leave any room in the kitchen for bottles and stuff. So I am going to have to redo some of the kitchen so there is room for them.

  35. Mrs. Grizzly Bear

    GOLD / grapefruit / 4555 posts

@Adira: Kudos on the DH progress. I've been praising mine constantly because I think it finally clicked in his head - probably thanks to the hormones - that I just couldn't be super mom anymore. Every time I mention that we should probably change DS's diaper, he'll ask if I need a dry diaper or if we need wipes and butt cream (DS has a rash that's FINALLY clearing up after nearly two weeks).

He's also been quicker to get down on the floor and keep DS occupied while I eat/drink/rest/whatever so that I don't have to get my aching bones down on the floor. Small stuff, but really sweet. In return, I've been trying to help out more with the dishes and laundry.

We finally moved the changing table Saturday night from Henry's nursery to our bedroom and it already has piles of clean laundry on it *shakes her head*. That didn't take long. Good news is that I now have a place to store all the clean 0-3 month clothing. Bad news is that now DS can reach his window and pull on the blinds, curtains, etc. Tricky tricky but we're working on solving the situation. Hopefully something brilliant comes to us soon...

I know it's probably just these crazed hormones that have suddenly taken over my body but lately, I've been more antsy lately. Cleaning, folding, tidying up Henry's toys and going ahead and rotating 'old' toys out for his new toys from his birthday... I'm quicker to throw something in the trash than I was a week ago. I might have looked at it, hmmmed over it, and set aside to deal with later. Now I just chuck it. I hope this isn't me trying to tell me that it'll be soon I WANT to see March!

  36. Mrs. Grizzly Bear

    GOLD / grapefruit / 4555 posts

@Smurfette: Might also keep in mind further down the road when you're reorganizing where might be the best place to store baby food items - such as dishes, sippy cups, snacks, and meals. I know you're definitely not there yet but if you already have a plan in place for later and write it down somewhere, you won't be like me who's looking at the kitchen and going 'Uuuuuh... Hmmm....' Think quick and easy access but out of baby/toddler reach.

Can't help you on the hairbows but we put our pacifiers in a little organizer inside our bin full of burp cloths and bibs. The pacifiers that are too big for now I put with the bottles I was given that were too big (4 oz vs 8 oz) in my closet.

@Smurfette: So I bought a bookcase for the nursery (it matches our other bookcases too, so that if it didn't go in the nursery, I could just use it elsewhere). I got this one:

    http://www.target.com/p/carson-2-shelf-bookcase-espresso/-/A-11110052

Then I got a couple of these baskets to go in the bookcase:

    http://www.target.com/p/threshold-rattan-small-milk-crate-with-liner/-/A-14104442#prodSlot=medium_1_7

Then I got a couple of these to go in the closet for storage, like sheets and other random stuff:

    http://www.target.com/p/threshold-set-of-3-paper-rope-media-basket-dark/-/A-14116590

And I also got one of these for next to the dresser to store toys and stuff in the future, though right now it stores blankets and stuffed animals:

@Adira: While I love the woven theme, just keep in mind with the last basket for storing toys that eventually your LO will figure out texture and start to bite things - including furniture. More than once, Henry was trying to nibble on the wire and woven basket I had his toys in for the longest in our living room and he would get little bits of the basket stuck in his hands or mouth and just start crying cause it hurt.

So while it might look great and work for the first six months or so until LO gets mobile? Afterwards you might want to reconsider. Just trying to help.

  39. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@NaturallyCathy: Thanks! I actually did think of that - I'll probably move the basket into the closet at that point so that it's not easily accessible to him once he's mobile, but I'll still be able to store his toys and stuff in it.
