@NaturallyCathy: haha, even though I thought of it, doesn't mean I'll remember to actually do it!!! Guaranteed this kid is going to be chewing on that basket before I remember to move it!

@Adira: Thanks! I love that bookshelf. Did they have it in the store or did you have to order it online? I just want something little like that. I wanted a side table or something by the glider, so I was thinking a small bookshelf would do double time. I need something to put the sound machine on. Then a table light. I have a big wire basket with liners for on the floor. I was going to throw blankets in there. Maybe some toys too. . Right now it is full of laundry that I need to get done this week, so this weekend I can get things put away. I have some similar baskets like the ones you linked for toys if I need them too.
I have one of these for in the closet.

@NaturallyCathy: Good point! We got some spoons for shower gifts but I didn't think about plates, bowls, and sippy cups. Oh how our world is about to change, for the better!!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Yep, they had it in the store! It comes in ebony (black), espresso (dark dark brown), and cherry, so you can get whatever matches your tastes. I have 3 of the 5 shelf versions and now 2 of the 2 shelf versions and I LOVE them. They're so sleek!
Oh crap, I need a table light too - I forgot about that. I have a little end table in the room next to my rocking chair and I need a lamp or something on it I think.
Oh my gosh, I haven't even figured out where kitchen stuff is going to go! I just have all the bottles still in their boxes just sitting on the kitchen table. I guess I'm going to have to re-org my kitchen to make room for baby/kid stuff!

Oh wow! Our March board is so active! I don't even know where to begin replies!
So DH and his friend moved in the dresser last night and the nursery is starting to look more complete! We still need to hand the curtain rod, buy curtains, buy crib skirt, hang some art, and finish some DIY projects.
Here's how the dresser/changing table came out though after my weeks and weeks of re-finishing and painting and cleaning.
I still need to find a better drawer pull for the top center (it was a missing piece).
Also, I TRIED to do the perineal massage this weekend and it just did not happen! lol! @Arden: You are right - it is sort of off-putting, and as I think it was @cokiezombie: pointed out, it's hard to even wipe down there. It was darn near impossible for me to reach the right way to do the perineal massage! *shaking head*
On a somewhat related note, I had a dream last night that I was in labor and the Dr. just "reached in" and pulled out the baby in a few seconds! lol! That was the "good" part of the dream. The rest was terribly stressful: I had 2 babies and they never brought them to me and got lost and no one would tell me where they were. But the good part was that labor was fast and painless. That's what I'm trying to remember.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@shopaholic: LOVE your dresser!!! I'm jealous of the long dressers like that - we just are using a dresser we already had and the changing pad JUST fits on it - I think there's maybe a couple inches on either side left, which means there's no space for other stuff on the dresser - bummer!
I haven't tried doing the perineal massage yet. I was going to get Hubs to do it but... I'm not sure. I don't want to tear but... I also don't really want to do it, haha.
Oh my gosh, your dream sounds crazy!!! Glad the labor was quick and easy but the rest of it sounds like a nightmare!!!
bananas / 9973 posts
@Adira: Thanks sweetie! I scoured Craigslist and Etsy for a LONG time in search of a French Provencal antique dresser like this one that I could afford! Have you considered putting shelves about your changing table for extra flat space? I was thinking of that before as well.
And yeah, I think it would be weird to tell my DH how to do the perineal massage right! lol! I think it would be like a comedy hour! And the dream was terrible! I was up for an hour in the middle of the night trying to clear my mind of it so I could fall back asleep.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@shopaholic: Love the dresser! It turned out great. Here's hoping your real labor is like your dream labor.
@shopaholic: @Adira: I haven't tried the perineal massage yet. I was told to start at 36 weeks, so we will see how it goes on Sunday. I don't think that I could ask DH to do it. So afraid of tearing as well. I know my one friend did the massage every day and she still tore. I remember her saying that she didn't think it helped, but I figure why not try it? Have nothing to lose by trying it.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@shopaholic: Oh, hmm, shelves is a good idea! I'll have to look into that. I was thinking I'd just use the top drawer of ours for all the diaper/wipes type of supplies. We have plenty of closet space (two closets in the nursery), so I'm thinking clothes will end up taking up closet space instead of being stored in the dresser.

@shopaholic: Ah, crazy dreams! that dresser is so pretty! You did a great job on it!
DS is home with an ear infection today...3rd one since October. Every time he brings a cold home from school, he shared it with me and dh and gets an ear infection. It wasn't actually hurting him, but he's been coughing for a week, and since I've already been through this twice this season, I knew to take him to the dr and lo and behold, an ear infection was starting to crop up. His ped was impressed that I saw it coming, lol.
So, I said that I had a pediatrician...and I do...ds's doctor is great. BUT, the land we want to build and move to is another state away, at least an hour from his doctor. SO, I'm gonna start investigating doctors up there now. I have no idea if or when we're moving up there, but I guess it won't hurt to start some research. At least I have an office to take the baby to til at least the house is built. And, here I thought I was getting away easy, already having a ped for the baby, lol.

@Smurfette: @katiew92081: Thanks ladies!
@katiew92081: Does an ear infection from a cold? I was wondering about that because our cousin's daughter woke up from a nap the other day and then started complaining about her ear hurting. She didn't have any other symptoms of cold or fever. They said it was just so sudden - she seemed so miserable. Poor babies when they aren't feeling good.
watermelon / 14206 posts
@shopaholic: Yeah, he tends to get them after plenty of days with fluid in his head. The cold itself pretty much has to run its course, but if they last several days, I know I'm going to be taking him in. It's miserable for everyone when they're up in the night with an ear infection. All you can do is give motrin and wait til morning to get into the dr. I wanted to head it off this time, so I took him in sooner.

@shopaholic: What a lovely dresser - I love it! We went with a simple IKEA one and a part of me wishes I had looked around for something with a little more character... oh well!
watermelon / 14206 posts
@dojo: don't worryabout your dresser...my poor baby has those plastic storage drawers from walmart lol. She's gonna share our room til we move to a 3 or 4 bedroom place so we had to really limit furniture and baby gear.

Is anyone having issues with bras? Right under my boobs, I feel like the bra is rubbing on my skin. I am sitting up straight as much as I can to keep the girls up higher. But it feels like it is rubbing the skin raw. I keep putting lotion on and it helps. It is like heaven when I take my bra off at night. Maybe it is the underwire, I don't know.
Also, does anyone else feel like their boobs keep getting bigger? I am scared how big they are going to get once my milk comes in.
watermelon / 14206 posts
@smurfette: I bought some nursing bras and have been wearing them, cause they're comfier than regular bras. The underwire could definitely be your culprit. Maybe put some baby powder on the place it's rubbing to ease the friction?
Mine are growing like mad, too...except this week they seem slightly deflated. They're leaking like mad, though.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@katiew92081: That reminds me my friend lent me some nursing bras, I should try those tomorrow. Thanks! I am leaking a little but not a lot. So weird!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Yes, I'm definitely having bra issues! My favorite bra no longer fits right - it definitely rubs at the skin and is uncomfortable. I'm not sure if it's expanding ribs or saggy boobs or what, haha.
I can't tell if my boobs are still getting bigger - I think maybe they are, though I can't totally remember what they used to look like!

Just wanted to pop in and wish everyone luck - we're almost there!!!
I keep wavering hourly between wanting the baby now and hoping for a few more weeks. Since I have GD, if I don't go into labor naturally I will be induced by my due date. Luckily the baby isn't too big (which is a by product of uncontrolled GD), but if it plumps up a lot the last month they might induce me at 38 weeks - yikes!!
watermelon / 14206 posts
@adira: It's a little hard to compare, cause our belly's are so big! Mine look smaller individually, but my belly makes my boobs look a lot smaller in proportion, lol
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@sheskrafty: Oh wow, 38 weeks for you is around March 4th, right? So you might be having your baby when some of us early Marchers are!!
watermelon / 14206 posts
@sheskrafty: I go back and forth, too, even though I have a couple weeks til term. I'm REALLY uncomfortable, but this week would be really bad timing for her to come anyways, lol. We have a lot going on that she could totally blow for us, lol. We're trying to tell her at least wait til next week, lol.

Hi, March Mommas!
I have been quite MIA from posting on this board, but I do check it almost every day and I love following other March pregnancies. You all look glowing and wonderful!
I also can't believe that some of these babies could be coming any moment! The next few weeks will be such an exciting time.
@shopaholic Your dresser and nursery look like it could be in a magazine or featured on YHL! So impressed!
I feel mostly ready with the newborn supplies. Of course, I still have to pack a hospital bag, install the car seat, write a birth plan, and take a breastfeeding/infant cpr class, but I feel like I have enough time for all of that. What currently overwhelms me is all the nursing gear! I tried on some nursing tank tops and bras, but they had all these straps and loops that I had no idea what to do with. Once I finally got a nursing tank on, everything looked lumpy and weird. Plus, these items are not cheap!
I am also a bit overwhelmed trying to get a good breast pump covered through my United Healthcare insurance. I've already called twice and haven't gotten very far. Perhaps that will be my project for the day...
persimmon / 1165 posts
As much as I'd love to give birth in early March, it would help to wait a little longer so that I could finish up my March workload.
I am really going nuts wondering if we're going to have a boy or girl now. And now that I have to do non-stress tests twice a week and usually have at least one ultrasound (joys of GD!) I'm just waiting for a tech to slip and tell me what we're having. It wouldn't be the end of the world, I just don't want to come this far and then have it spoiled!
Is anyone else having a really hard time concentrating at work? I have soooooo much to do before I go out on leave but at this point I really don't care anymore.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@BrooklynBee41: Oh my gosh, I hear you on the nursing gear! I feel like nursing is the most daunting task that's coming up once the baby is here! And YES, some of those nursing shirts just look WEIRD on. I found a couple that seem smooth (found at Motherhood), so I bought those, but many that I tried on had some much extra fabric in the chest area that it looked weird on! I guess you're just supposed to wear them under other things maybe?
I don't have United Healthcare, but my insurance told me that I needed to get a prescription from my hospital for a breast pump in order to get one and then you had to go through one of their medical providers. It sounded kind of complicated, but maybe yours is similar?
@sheskrafty: haha, I've ALWAYS had trouble concentrating at work, but now it's even harder! I spent half the day yesterday trying to make sure my FMLA and STD were all set and find out exactly what I need to do to activate those, and then finding out how to go about using my sick and vacation time to cover my leave! And when I'm not doing stuff like that, I'm reading up on labor and breastfeeding and spending all day on Hellobee!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: I feel like I am starting to pop out of bras that were fitting fine. They also are itching and sore, so I am putting a ton of lotion on these days. Going to be a long day, the only clean bra I had is really lacy and it is annoying me and it is only 930. I might have to go get my sports bra out of the car and switch.
@sheskrafty: Wow! Baby could be there in 3 short weeks. Exciting!! You made it this far, I would be the annoying patient that reminds everyone don't say the sex. So disappointing if someone slipped up at this point.
@BrooklynBee41: I need to go shopping for nursing supplies. I have some bras a friend lend me, since she only wore then for a couple weeks. Another lend me some shirts but not sure they are going to fit me. They look pretty snug. I want to wait on tanks and more bras till my milk comes in so I know what size to get. Hopefully my friends will fit and get me through the first week or so, till I get some more.
We still need to take infant CPR. Thanks for the reminder. I will look that up now!
I have Cigna and a pump is covered so I just need to call some number and get it ordered.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Oh yeah, I wouldn't be able to do lacy at all!!! And I'm definitely popping out of my bras (or the big boob is... the other one is finally filling the cup like it's supposed to). I would definitely go change if I were you - lacy would drive me crazy. And I put on lotion every day, so I think that helps me.
How much nursing stuff do you guys have? I have two nursing tanks (with the built in shelf) and another two nursing shirts, and that's about it for clothes. I didn't want to buy too much stuff until I knew what size the girls were going to end up being. And for non-clothes, I have disposable nursing pads, two gel pads, and lanolin cream. Is there anything else you ladies think I should get before the baby is here?
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: I have 4 bras ( I think) and 2 or 3 shirts I am not sure will fit. I have some free samples of nursing pads, maybe 10 pads. That is all, nursing supplies are on my list for this weekend's shopping. I am with you, not sure what all we need to get.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: OMG, I just changed into my sports bra and it was like the heavens were singing. Guess that cute lacy one is going to be retired, bummer only wore it like twice.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: hahaha, glad you're feeling better!!! Hopefully you'll be able to wear that lacy one again sometime after the baby is here, though it might not be for a while if you're a totally different size!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: I am hoping one day I can fit into my old bras again. I think this lacy one might be on reserve for sexy time when DH doesn't leave it on for long
persimmon / 1096 posts
Ugh, my boobs stayed pretty much the same size all throughout pregnancy until this past month, and suddenly they keep growing I was a B cup, went out and bought two C cup bras last week and now even they feel tight, and I've gotten a few small stretch marks too. So bummed!
I only have one dress that's specifically nursing-friendly, but I have lots of tanks with built-in bras that I think might work anyway and I want to wait and see what size I end up being postpartum before I buy anything else.
Is anyone else going to try a Belly Bandit or something similar after delivery? I bought a Squeem last week, and I'm definitely planning to use it afterward -- hoping it does something!
GOLD / grapefruit / 4555 posts
I have more nursing stuff than I probably rightly need but then again most of it is left over from the last time around. I never bothered with the nursing shirts because for the first few weeks at least, I was home with baby. Whenever I needed to nurse in public, I just went somewhere quiet with a cover. Keeping in mind, I had problems breastfeeding but that's mostly because I had breast reduction surgery at 19. Yes I can produce but not as well as the rest of you will be able to.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
So the only Infant CPR class I could find is March 9th. Seriously? As big as Atlanta is? None of the hospitals have any till late March. So fingers crossed that we don't have baby early, since the 9th is a week before my due date. They did tell me I can reschedule if I end up going into labor and can't make it. This is what I get for waiting, I guess
watermelon / 14206 posts
@adira: I have 2 nursing bras and an arsenal of lansinoh breast pads. That's it. I'll be able to stay at home, though, so all the other nursing clothes won't really be necessary. After a few weeks, you get nursing down pat, so all the extra stuff isn't as big of a deal.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@katiew92081: Thanks for the info! That makes me feel a bit more ready. I'll also be able to stay home, at least in the beginning, so won't really need a ton of stuff until I go back to work probably.
@Smurfette: Oh man, that sucks!!! You'd think they would have those things more often!!! Hopefully you'll be able to attend and baby won't be early!
bananas / 9973 posts
@katiew92081: Oh I do not look forward to baby ear infections! Our niece looked sooo miserable!
@dojo: Thanks so much! I would have gone with an IKEA dresser too (and re-painted it) if I never ultimately found an antique one I could afford! I'm sure yours is just as lovely!
@Smurfette: I had to size up my bras at about 12 weeks. Since then, I think my boobs fluctuate. Some days they look smaller and some days they look fuller. What went up immediately was my band size! I bought some Maidenform bras at Target where the wires are entirely encased inside some kind of foam thing - truly SO comfy! But I have been having issues sitting with baby so high up in between my rib cage. Those Genie Bras and Half-Cami Shelf Bras are my go-to's when anything else is too uncomfortable!
@sheskrafty: Hi there lady! I don't know whether to hope for you to get to 40 weeks or feel like you're lucky if you get induced at 38 weeks!? I'm ready for baby to come out! hahah! Good luck with the GD! And I HOPE no one spills the bean on the gender - you've waited this long for a nice surprise!
@BrooklynBee41: Thank you so much sweetie! What is YHL? Is that a blog? I'll have to check it out! I'm not that concerned about nursing clothes yet because I keep hearing you really need to wait until your milk comes in, which could even be a couple of weeks after you give birth. So I don't want to waste money to have things that don't fit right. For now, I think the shelf-cami bras and tanks will suffice. But then again, I was only a B-cup to begin with. I need to call the insurance co. again today too and figure out if I can get the pump before baby arrives.
@Adira: I ordered a few "nursing tops" on BabySteals way back when. Some even a size up, because you can wear them as maternity shirts too! Well, they ALL look so big and frumpy on me still! I'm hoping my boobs will grow and fill them out some or they will all be just a waste!
As for nursing stuff: I have a 100-pk box of Lasinoh nursing pads (exchanged shower gift w/out receipt for that one, that's why I have so many), a big tube of Lasinoh lanolin cream, a couple of re-usable organic nursing pads I found on sale, and a re-usable cooling breast pad thing too.
@keepcalmcarrie: Yes! I am DEFINITELY using the Belly Bandit! And the Shrinkx Hips! I hear the Belly Bandit (or any kind of binder really) feels good and comfortable after you give birth anyways. Or else your stomach just feels loose with all the organs trying to re-shift back into place. I already have big hips for my frame, so the Shrinkx Hips is a hopeful wish that I won't get any wider (or even wishfully, get smaller!)
Headed to my 36 week appt. today! After this I get to go every week. I'm wondering if I'll get a cervical check today. Will update you gals when I get back!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@shopaholic: I have already gone from a B cup to a D cup. I have a feeling they are going to be huge once my milk comes in.
Can't wait to hear how your appointment goes. I have my 36 week appointment (even though will be 35 1/2) on Thursday. First cervical check and the strep test. I would guess you are having the same.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@shopaholic: Good luck at your appointment! I had the strep test at 36 weeks (which came back negative, yay!) but still haven't had a cervical check. My next appointment is on Friday (almost 38 weeks) and I'm curious if it will happen then or not. It's with a physician (instead of my normal midwife/nurse) because of my platelet issue, so I don't know if it will be different than my normal appointments. Let us know how yours goes!
watermelon / 14206 posts
@shopaholic: I've never had to deal with baby ear infections...ds has been really healthy until starting kindergarten (of course). It's not so bad (for me), now, cause he can come right out and say, "my ear hurts!" I would think a baby would be a lot harder to deal with, cause it would take a little extra investigation to find out the problem!
Yay for 36 week appointment! I get mine with the midwife on Monday, then another on the Thursday after that with their back up OB, then back the next Monday to the midwife for the 37 weeker, lol. I'm glad to get to go every week. Breaks up the monotony of waiting on this LO to show up!

Hey everyone! So we've been decided on a name for our baby since October or November -- although we haven't told anyone yet. My husband even bought me a beautiful gold necklace with the initial on it for my birthday. Anyway, last night, my husband got a text message out of the blue from his best friend, who is expecting a baby boy at the end of March, asking if we had a name chosen. They then gave us a list of their top choices in order...and their top choice is our name! I know that it's not that big of a coincidence, given the fact that our name is in the top 100 (maybe top 50?) on the SSA list. But still: crazy!
We aren't changing the name, and I don't think that they will either. (Nor would we if our due dates were reversed.) I guess that this is the only positive of living 2000 miles away from my husband's best friend!
Otherwise, things are going well. We have another appointment tomorrow, and we continue to go in weekly until the baby comes. We should be getting the disc of our maternity photos sometime this week. Overall, I'm feeling okay. I know that it is better for the baby to stay put until 39-40 weeks, but man I would be pretty happy if he came sooner! Ha.
