We are thinking of a gold/teal/peach colour scheme with a sunshine and rain theme for our little girl ( still can't believe it!) Here is my inspiration board so far... Can't wait to get sewing and crafting!!

@Mrs squirreld: this is beautiful! I'm thinking navy/white/pink when she gets her own room but we'll see what DH thinks

@Mrs squirreld: Thanks for starting this - I love your board!
I need to create an inspiration board still. I think we just settled on colors/theme, so I'm finally feeling ready to start it.
to preface, we're having a boy. But here are a few inspiration pics from pinterest so far. I'm thinking - white walls, gingham turquoise (not crazy turquoise, but subdued) curtains, white crib, either a map or a big print above the crib. Pottery barn wingback rocker (really trying to find a used one as they're crazy expensive). A campaign style dresser with boy things (camping-esque) above it. Oh and some sort of animal rug. That's all I have for now! I'll create an inspiration board soon.

@Mrs. Lovejoy: Are you guys getting the wingback rocker with or without the tufted back? I generally LOVE tufted upholstered furniture, but I actually think I'm leaning more toward the one without the tufting bc it looks more comfy...I am fairly undecided though! And I REALLY love the cream color but I know that's ridiculous for a household with 2 LOs.
These would probably be my color choices since most of our house has light gray in it and it would match our decor later when I take the rockers off and make it a regular chair. Although the nursery isn't going to really have gray in it...Whatevs.
The PBK site isn't let me try out all of the colors for the non-tuft one, which is no fun, but I'd want some type of flat light gray, not really linen like in this pic....

@Mrs squirreld: Love that scheme! I saw a ton of gold stuff on PBK that I LOVE! There's actually a white and gold polka dot bedding set for DD1 that I love but it just won't work with what we're doing:)

@Mrs. Lovejoy: @PrincessBaby: Lurking DH and I liked the Wingback, went into store and ended up ordering the Charleston! I liked it better than the Wingback. You can request free fabric sample swatches too! They're on sale now

I am not crafty enough to know how to do an idea board...Is that something that can be done on pinterest?
Here are my canvas pics moved to this thread of my Winborg canvas that I'm designing the nursery around....I need to find another fabric for the crib bumper even though I love the one in the photo since it was discontinued:( We're doing light aqua walls, and I have the pink rug already from our first nursery.
I am definitely getting LO1 the 3 letter monogram for her big girl room and I'm debating getting one for DD2 as well...I can't decide between the monogram and the full out name....
And finally, we bought the PBK Larkin sleigh crib in mahogany (and the changing table and the Cameron storage cube). I really want it to be white so I'm having a painter we used for our house who is certified to paint Annie Sloane chalk paint to paint the furniture Pure White. Maybe with just a touch of distressing at the edges, I haven't decided. Is it CRAZY to mess with really nice furniture and chalk paint over it??? We haven't ruled out a #3, so it could be YEARS before we actually get rid of this crib on CL or something, which makes me want to just make it how I want it!

@LindsayInNY: Yeah the sale caught my eye! I think I want the wingback because we fell asleep in the LaZboy we had (ugh! my husband's favorite chair that I'm finally winning the battle on removing!) and I was thinking the wing backs would be a nice place to rest our heads! Especially me, because I'll be nursing and I fell asleep nursing DD1 ALL THE TIME.

@PrincessBaby: lurking, but I have the grey (I think it's called french gray?) PBK wingback rocker and I'm nursing my 4 month old in it right now. It is so comfortable and the wing backs are the best place to rest your head!! I have taken more than a few long naps in it, including this past Friday when my son had his 4mo shots and afterward napped on me for 2.5 hours. Highly recommend!

Oh how I wish I could figure out a way to get this aqua chair and have everything match and be the right aqua...How freakin' gorgeous is that chair??? And I love the print of the pink one, it comes in gray but there's no way to "sample" it in the photo. That is just....lovely:)
Okay but I'm fairly obsessed with the aqua one!!! Tell me how impractical that is!!!!! I'm not sure I think it's actually that impractical? Except for the fact that I'd have to wait to get it in to pick out a bumper and a corresponding wall color:)

@erind425: Wingbacks for the win! That is exactly what I was imagining after waking up with neck cramps in my husbands beater Lazboy lol:) Thank you for the feedback! Check out the aqua one I just posted and tell me if you think I need that more than the gray
pear / 1586 posts
@PrincessBaby: the Aqua is super fun! If this little guy had been a girl, we were going to do a turquoise, navy, and pink nursery. We got the grey bc we are planning on moving it to our master (with the feet instead of rocker) once we are finished with it in the nursery. I really wish they had had the navy one when we bought it! We went with navy walls and a navy and turquoise rug and stayed neutral with the chair (and all white furniture). I think there are pictures in the Aug 2014 nursery thread if you want to see it in action! Also, the ottoman is a must!!
clementine / 972 posts
@PrincessBaby: yeah for PBK wingbacks! I so desperately want the cream or white one (of course), but logical DH has vetoed it. We don't have a lot of greys in our house, so I think we'll go with the oatmeal, but I do love the grey. I think we're going to do the non-tufted, even though I usually prefer tufting. I think it may be more comfy and will look more neutral since we're having a boy.
Oh and I create an inspiration board in powerpoint! I just copy and paste (or use a tool on my work computer to take "snip its" or "snag its") and then re-size to make it all fit.
Here's where I landed over lunch.
cantaloupe / 6610 posts
@erind425: I checked your nursery out and dude, that is stunning! You did a super fab job! I will probably go with a neutral color bc like you, we'll buy the feet and use it somewhere else:)
@Mrs. Lovejoy: Love your ideas! So cute! Oh - powerpoint. I am a Mac person! I work on an iPad all day for my job and then a Macbook Pro at home. I'm sure there has to be an easy Mac way to do a pinboard but I'll have to figure it out:)
bananas / 9229 posts
@PrincessBaby: I thought the same but it felt like a bit of a stretch for my head to reach the wings? Do you have a store near you to check them out in person?
nectarine / 2522 posts
@PrincessBaby: I just used photoshop to make my inspiration board, just added photos and screenshots and resized as needed I will have to check out PBK for those sheets! I LOOOVE those wingback chairs.... we are just going to use our boring glider from DS though...boo. Might have to jazz it up a bit
@Mrs. Lovejoy: I love your board. Especially the map idea. We will be redoing our playroom with a travel theme when we move mid year and I definitely want a big map print!
nectarine / 2522 posts
I think I"m going to order this rug for a nice pop of colour. We have a similar one in green for DS's room and I love it. DH thinks its too dark.. what do you think? Do you think I should have more of a turquoise colour instead?
pear / 1586 posts
@PrincessBaby: thanks!! we had a rough night of some long MOTN feedings last night (a little reverse cycling after a two-week break from the nanny over the holidays) and that chair continues to be a lifesaver!

So beautiful. Lots of girly rooms!
Now that we know we are having another boy, I'm excited to plan a shared room for them. They will have a 2.5 year gap. I am dreaming of gray and red colour scheme. I also gound this Giving Tree wall decal that would give it a cute punch especially with the red apples and little boy - picture it with a light gray wall.

@Mrs. Lovejoy: Love the wild animals theme! Not sure if I would add a theme other than the red & gray colour scheme. Maybe elephants??
grapefruit / 4663 posts
Ladies you've given me the push to make sure my daughter (still can't believe it!) has a decent nursery my dh would also like to try to keep her out of our bed part of the time. My son co-slept until 6 months. Here is what I'm dealing with space wise, it is a loft over looking our living room and open on both sides to the master bedroom. I'll put together an inspiration board over lunch, our house is very cabiny so we won't be painting any walls or anything but I can at least hang pictures and get her crib bedding etc
grapefruit / 4663 posts
@chanada: I love your theme. If our nursery was big enough these 2 would definitely share for a bit but its 8x10 with windows and weird closets so no room for 2 beds!
cherry / 147 posts
@Jetsa: Thanks! Actually, we'll be moving to a somewhat temporary place before the baby comes and then another move for the longer term in another year or so. Which means we don't really know what the room(s) dimension is - we may have restrictions I don't know about yet! I'm just getting excited about colour schemes now.
You do have an unusual layout. Makes for a unique room. Can't wait to see your ideas!
nectarine / 2522 posts
@chanada: love the giving tree decal!
@jetsa: nothing like a challenging space!! I think we are going to actually have more room in her nursery than we did with DS as the wardrobe and windows are better positioned. Plus she wont have a cot in there as she will be sleeping in the hammock and DS will be using the cot til we move mid year and we will then give him a big boy room and she will get the cot at our next house
Is anyones nursery currently full of stuff? At the moment its currently our guestroom/sewingroom/dumproom. We have no space in this house and I have no idea where all this stuff is going to go! We will probably be moving around august so it needs to get packed up and stored anyway but eeeek where!? I think Im going to have to sell/get rid off alot of stuff so there is room for #2's stuff!

@PrincessBaby: Where is that first picture from? Its stunning! Is it your nursery?
cantaloupe / 6610 posts
@Mrs. Chocolate: It's from some blog! I had googled the painting info and it pulled up a blog writeup:) There is a local baby store here where I bought the canvas and this couple had also purchased most of their nursery items from there, and it was just something I ran across when googling...That's *ideally* what I want it to look like when it's finished, minus the painted ceiling!
ETA: I pinned it:)
http://www.pnmag.com/baby-buzz/presleys-nursery/
Yeah our main difference will be that we have white plantation shutters instead of curtains, we're not painting the ceiling, and I like her mirror but I'm going with this one:
nectarine / 2522 posts
@PrincessBaby: That mirror is DIVINE!! I want a mirror now. lol

@Mrs squirreld: ours is a guest right right now with a full bed, a dresser, a chair, and a side table. Sometimes we use that bed when E won't skeep. Though, so I think it'll be there for awhile
nectarine / 2522 posts
@blackbird: yeah, DH has been sleeping in the spare the last week cause he is sick and the coughing was driving me bonkers! Lol. We are going to pack it up in March so for now I'm just ordering things but we just did order a king size bed for our room so I'm excited about that!
grapefruit / 4663 posts
@Mrs squirreld: Did you like the hammock? I wonder if I could get one in the US until DS grows out of his crib? I refuse to buy another so we won't transfer her until he's crawling out/ready.
nectarine / 2522 posts
@jetsa: We loved our hammock. E slept so well in it when he was a newborn, he settled so so easy. We did have a breathing monitor on him though cause I was one of those paranoid mums
nectarine / 2522 posts
OK so DH talked me into changing the teal to a mint colour. Who knew men had an opinion on these things! lol. Now that I have been scouting around on pinterest and etsy I am IN LOVE with the peach/mint/gold...soooo many nice prints, fabrics etc.. I have attached some of the things I am looking at.. the cot sheets are to die for! We also just bought some cream with a faint leaf pattern blockout curtains for her room today so I think I might get a cream rug too and try and keep the room nice and bright.

@mrs.squirreld: sneaking in to say I've always loved that combo. Wishing I had a girl to do a fun room around. Your nursery is gonna look fabulous!
nectarine / 2522 posts
@marionberry: stalker hehehe Thanks... I'm looking forward to getting started... I'm off to stalk your thread now!

@Mrs squirreld: Gah that is soooo pretty.
I'm still undecided on nursery theme. I only like loose themes.....but so far, the walls are a very pale turquoise/blue (almost a tiffany blue, but so pale it's almost white)
I did purchase this artwork for the room, though. It matches the style of artwork in E's room, which I wanted.
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
@Mrs squirreld: I wanted some orange in there and he's just so cute, huggling on a hedgehog, LOL. So now i feel like I can use grays, yellows, and oranges in the room....just not sure where I will want to. The room won't really be furnished until next fall, though.
