DD2 is 2.5 weeks old now... I wrote big sisters birth story at five days pp. Poor second child.
Camilla Jane was born December 29th at 4:26 by the easiest c-section in history.
We woke early on the 29th to enjoy some last moments as a family of three. I showered with the special body wash and took time to blow out my hair. DD1's birth was very difficult and resulted in an emergency c-section after 57 hours of labor. In all of our early pictures I looked part zombie part sewer rat and for whatever reason having my hair done was really important to me for #2. I didn't want to look back on our pictures and focus on my greasy hair, I wanted to see love and a beautiful baby.I debated a VBAC for my entire pregnancy but wasn't a great candidate based on my failure to progress with DD1 and her birth size. Going passed my due date with a history of ten pound babies wasn't a great idea, induction was off the table, so if I didn't go into labor by my due date we decided the RCS was the safest option. I had had some crazy contractions that were enough to make me stop on my tracks and have a shop girl ask if I needed an ambulance. The contractions would stop as soon as I sat down though, so I figured things were just getting ready for baby day. I did call my parents and have them come early. The strength of my contractions made me confident that baby sister was ready even if we did the section.
DD1 stayed with my parents and we left for the hospital. We drove silently to the hospital. I guess there was a lot that could have been said, but I was very overwhelmed with emotion. It's strange walking into a hospital feeling normal and knowing you'll be having a baby in a few hours. They checked us in and told us there had been a few late night emergencies and that the OR was backed up. Our 10:30 section didn't start until 3:30. Normally not a big deal, but I hadn't had anything to eat or drink since seven the night before. I was so hungry!
Once they finally called us in everything went very quickly. I was definitely nervous on the table while the anesthesiologist got things going. It's so much different when it's an emergency, this time there was small talk about the american health care system. The surgery was quick and easy, my OB asked if we wanted a tubal and both DH and I yelled "No!" At 4:26 Camilla Jane arrived wailing. The nurses all started talking about how she was big with a lot of hair. They brought her over to me and DH and we both said "she's a peanut!" She was 8 pounds 8 ounces and just under 22". A full pound and a half smaller than big sister.
Once they weighed her and clamped the cord we were able to start breastfeeding while my OB fixed things up down below. My doc mentioned how well I had healed from my first section and that having another would not be a problem (my biggest fear was limiting our family size because of rcs).
We were moved to our room and bumped into my parents and DD1 in the hall. Watching DD1 see DD2 for the first time was so incredible. She was truly enthralled. Star struck. We had her sit next to me on the bed and introduced them.
"Baby sister hair, baby sister nose, baby sister boogers." She has a future as a poet.
We stayed one night and were home 29 hours later, spending new years together as a family of four.
Mila so far is giving her big sister a run for the easiest baby award. She's lovely and sleepy and happy.tl:dr

I finally got around to writing little J's birth story.
Let me preface this story by saying that I had a very uneventful first pregnancy that ended in a very fast delivery at 41w+2d. All in all my first labor and delivery was no more than 6 hours long. My second pregnancy was a little more eventful with being put on a very mild form of bedrest (I was still allowed to take my 20 month old to daycare and pick him up) at 30 weeks since my cervix was shortened and they wanted to prevent pre-term labor/birth. So once my 36 week appointment rolled around my most urgent question was whether I could loosen the bedrest and was given the go to give it up. I still took it slowly over the holiday season since I really wanted a 2015 baby. I didn’t mind if she made her debut before her due date on the 20th though.
Once it was January I started to do more and more. By January 6th I started to feel quite crampy. But nothing was happening and on my 38 week appointment on the 9th the internal exam showed that I was over 50% effaced and my cervix was soft and only slightly dilated while “all the way back there”. Also the OB told me that baby’s head wasn’t firmly in place yet so should my water brake I’d have to call an ambulance to get to the hospital while lying flat. Not something I was expecting to hear since baby sat so low that I was having to pee what felt like every 5 minutes.
So I went into the weekend on Friday not thinking much about it. The one thing I did though was to finish packing my hospital bag on Friday. Friday night my DH came back from working out of town during the week and we watched some TV together. By 10:30pm I was starting to notice that I was having very mild but regular contractions (about every 10 minutes or so). I didn’t think much of it and suspected they were some BH. But I couldn’t sleep all night since they wouldn’t go away and everyone had made me very nervous by telling me to get to the hospital really, really quickly because of second labors being faster than the first. Well by 2am I was ready for it to either stop or pick up so I went and had a shower. I went back to bed and nothing had changed. I still had regular contractions every 8-10 minutes. I decided to stay in bed and get some rest. I finally fell asleep for an hour or so. By 5:30am the contractions were getting a little stronger and my son was up so we decided to go ahead and call my sister to come over. Once she arrived 30 minutes later we got soon-to-be big brother ready and fed and explained to him that he was going to spend the day with his aunt and that mommy and daddy had to leave because his little sister didn’t want to stay in mommy’s belly anymore. He took it in stride and off we were.
We got to the hospital and I was hooked up to monitors. They showed the regular contractions although they were still mild. They also did a short ultrasound to check for baby’s size but that was next to impossible because she was already sitting so low. The midwife asked the doctor whether or not to admit me but since it was a second child of a woman with a past of fast labors they decided to keep me there although I wasn’t fully effaced and only dilated to about a 3. So off we went to some walking in the hopes of getting contractions to get stronger. Once we returned to L&D they checked me again but there hadn’t been too much progress. So they decided to give me some natural remedy in my IV to soften my cervix. And off we were sent for more walking – that was about 10am. It had been the stormiest night of the whole winter so far the night before so we were pretty much stuck to pacing the hospital floors. Around and around we went until it was noon which had been the time they had told us to come back (so about 2 hours of walking). They hooked me up to the monitors again and contractions were getting stronger but not much closer together. The midwife rechecked and I was now fully effaced but still only at 4cm albeit with a soft cervix. The midwife gave me a couple of options on how to proceed and left for us to talk and think it over – this was a little after 1pm.
Now this is when things started to get interesting. I went to the bathroom to pee and as soon as I left the toilet my contractions suddenly started to pick up. By about 1:20pm I was starting to have to voice through them and they became painful. At about 1:38pm I was feeling as though I needed to push and my water broke. We had just called for the midwife a little before that and she just about entered the room when the water hit the floor. Since there was meconium in it they wanted me on the bed. So she asked me to come over. I wasn’t really able to walk since I was feeling the urge to push. But I made it onto the delivery bed on all fours just about a second before the next contraction hit and I just HAD to push. The midwife then said something about something being born now. I didn’t properly understand so I asked her “what has been born?”. She repeated for me that baby’s head had been born. Oh wow, it didn’t even hurt. Now just one more push and little lady (and tons and tons of water) was out.
So after a mere 2 pushes, well 3 if you count the one that broke my water and in under 2 minutes she had made her debut by 1:40pm. She got perfect APGAR scores right from the start and they had her snuggling with me immediately. Within 30 minutes of being born she was nursing like a champ. I got to deliver my placenta and got some stitches although they weren’t even 1st degree tears. While getting stitched up they measured and weighed her at 19.5 inches and 7 lbs. and 10 oz (50cm / 3480g) and she was just such a peanut compared to her little brother (8.5lbs and 22.5 inches).
So overall my second labor lasted a lot longer from start to finish but the actual birth part was only about 20 minutes. Everyone at the hospital kept saying how happy they were that we got there so early.

Simple version of the birth story
1/21 - 8:30 am - went in for scheduled csection for 10:30 am because of breech baby
1/21 - 10 am - attempted an ECV - successful! Inducing starts
1/22 - 8 am - finally 10 cm dilated started pushing - baby heart rate dropped and kept dropping with every contraction - told it was bad for baby should do csection
1/22 - 11 am - went in for csection
1/22 - noon - baby Liam born!!
1/22 - 12:30 pm - still stitching me up. Had some bleeding - told that was normal.
1/22 - 1:30 pm - back with baby and husband in delivery room was told we would move to a recovery room in a few hours
1/22 - 1:45 pm - got really bad shakes - told this was normal maybe due to blood lost from csection
1/22 - 3 pm - nurses still trying to get me to stop shaking - one nurse notices that my csection scar was bleeding A LOT
1/22 - 3:10 pm - doctors came in and I was rushed off to the main OR. Pretty scary - three times more people there than in my csection operation. Was told it was probably bleeding from my uterus like during the csection may have to remove it if bleeding doesn't stop. I was knocked out right away.
1/22 - 7 pm - out of surgery - sent to an ICU room. Baby was taken from husband and sent to nursery and husband was sent to ICU room.
1/23 - 8 am - I was completely sedated till now so about 13 hours. Husband was worried but everyone told him I was stable. I finally woke up.
1/23 - noon - got quite a bit of tubes off of me. Worst removal was the respiratory device - it was jammed down my throat and I had to cough it out. Other stuff not so bad to remove. Still tons of stuff attached to me just in case I needed another surgery. Found out they were able to save my uterus but I lost a lot of blood. One doctor told us that none of the blood in me was mine anymore due to how much blood I lost.
1/23 - 2:30 pm - got sent to a mommy/baby recovery room. They settled me in.
1/23 - 5 pm - baby joined us. I could not do much. Was told I lost a lot of blood and to take it easy. Super swollen and bloated from all the fluids they tried to put in me ASAP. Also told to use the nursery as much as we need because we went through a lot. Got more testing for my blood.
1/24 - noon - ran more tests in the morning and cleared for any more surgeries. Got the rest of the tubes removed. One being the epidural tube on my back. So nice to have that removed.
1/24 - after all the above - now I am basically a csection recovery patient with some complications. Which is niceMy csection team was mostly there for my second surgery also and almost all of them came and visited at my ICU room and my mother/baby room. So very nice!!
It was definitely scary times but my case is rare. The doctors told me at most something like this happen 3 times a year. I am doing great now and had a wonderful team that saved my life. They whole hospital was pretty great to us. Definitely tried their best to help our family whenever possible.
Csection was definitely not so as bad as I thought and going through my rare complication was weird and scary but I was lucky I was in a great hospital and now doing great great.
Since my uterus was saved I can have more kids but was told my uterus did also go under great trauma and not to try again for at least 2 years (longer the better) and I would be highly recommended for a repeat csection just as a precaution to for the internal bleeding issue to be controlled.
Well that is my story. Still in the hospital now but I thought I would write this done before I forgot.

There was a really scary part when she first came out but I'm glad that was quickly fixed! Hehe I definitely hope you don't have your next baby on the side of the road! Definitely go in the hospital as soon as you feel any contractions next time. She looks perfect! Very cute!

My induction was scheduled for 4 am at 39 weeks and 4 days. We arrived early, got checked in and around 5 am got a cervical check, 1st dose of strep b and pitocin. I was 5 cm and 90% effaced so they decided to wait until my second dose of meds 4 hours later to break my water. I got my epidural about 2.5 hours after the pitocin. Two hours after they broke my water I was complete and just had to wait on my doctor to arrive which ended up taking an hour. I was starting to really feel the pressure and those last 20 min I was really worried. 3 rounds of pushing (about 11 pushes) she arrived! It took a little more work than I remember last time to deliver the placenta. I also tore a little so I got a few stitches. The epidural meds ran out right as they were finishing stitching me up, so it was perfect timing. The epidural really put my legs to sleep so we hung out in the L&D room for a few hours getting to know our new daughter before moving to recovery.
