@ChelseaRose: I'm planning on workout DVDs at hone for times I can't get to gym

All those long stretches if sleep have screwed up my supply. My left is producing half of what it used to. So sad! Going to start pumping every 3 to 4 hours to try and get it back up.

@travelgirl1: oh no! Hope you get it back up. If its not one thing its another!
Goingv to get an infant carrier today. C loves to be held at all times, officially. Got her to sleep almost 5 hours just by holding her instead of putting her down

@highwire: Do you know which one you are getting? I was looking online the other day and can't decide what to go with.

@highwire: @SLR: I really like our Ergo - it's not cheap, and you'll have to use the infant insert, but it seems to support the baby and I really well. I know it's the one Mrs Jacks uses. Check out nobetterdeal.com - they have really good prices on carriers.

@travelgirl1: I have the same problem.. LO slept 5.5-6 hours the past two nights ans she only eats from one side, so I've been having to pump the other at 5am because of engorgement and I don't want my supply to go down. I Am trying to start building up my freezer stash for when I got back to work. I don't even know what the right amount would be to have when I do return to work.
grapefruit / 4006 posts
@SLR: I have the ergo with the infant insert too. L falls asleep within 2 minutes of being in there every time. The only problem with it is that baby can only face inward which some babies don't like when they are older. If you want one that can face both in and out then I have heard good things Bout the beco Gemini but I think you can't use those with newborns.

@travelgirl1: in the middle of the night I usually pump the side that I don't nurse him on. Otherwise I'd go 9-10 hours without nursing that side.

So yeah - I don't have the flu, I have mastitis. I didn't realize the symptoms were so similar! I don't have boob pain, just a sligjy red area on one breast, so I didn't connect being sick to a boob problem. Apparently you can have mastitis without horrible boob pain. Waiting at the pharmacy drive up window for my mega antibiotics while LO quickly looses patience in the back seat.

I'm soo annoyed about this supply issue. I can't believe I could have prevented it by not being so lazy and pumping in the night. Yesterday she wasn't eating much either and was starting to reject the bottle so I gave her bottles all day to see how much she was eating and get her used to them again. Now she's getting pissy about the nipple shield! Agh! So spending today nursing, doing skin to skin and getting her used to it again while trying to sort out supply too.

@Mrs. Tricycle: oh no! Poor you! Hope the antibiotics sort it out quickly and you feel better soon.

@travelgirl1: oh no!! Hope it grts back up asap!
@Mrs. Tricycle: ugh get well soon mama!!
@highwire: I tried the.moby for a.lil bit last night. Need to get a hard.carrier like the beco or ergo...
A Is sleeping and eating well. Constantly feeding or changing dipes. Yest he pooped on me while I was changing a poopy diaper. He'll be 3 wks on wed and that is just crazy. During the day he feeds every 2-3 hrs and at night 3-4...
Need to buy.a baby scale. Our next pedi appt isn't until his two month checkup!

@JessLC: I've slowly started to build a freezer.stash too... need to read up on.it.more...
blogger / pear / 1964 posts
@mrsjyw: we have a food scale - we totally put a bowl on it, tare it, and then put the baby in the bowl. Works like a charm!

@Mrs. Tricycle: hope you feel better soon!
did anyone's LO go through the 2-3 week growth spurt? i think mine is right now. shes usually a good sleeper in that once she eats, we just put her in her crib and she falls asleep. yesterday starting at 4am she basically woke up every hour crying about something. nothing really seemed to help. i kept feeding her too and she'd drink it but then just get fussy again in an hour. man i hope this is just a growth spurt. mama's tired!

@kodybear: Yes, my little guy definitely did. The thing that changed was that he didn't automatically pass out again after nursing, which means that it takes more work to get him settled. During the day he is alert and awake after nursing rather than going to sleep.

@highwire: wow. That is nice! We don't have one of those close by so I've never been.

@Mrs. Tricycle: yikes, hope you feel better! I had no idea it could happen without a lot of pain.

@mrsjyw: how did I miss that our LO's shared a birthday? I can't believe Weds will be three weeks.

I know a lot of you ladies aren't quite there yet, but any early Nov mamas DTD with DH yet? We tried yesterday and it was painful! I bled a bit yesterday too. I'm nervous about next time

@Mrs. Tricycle: you poor thing..hope you feel better soon!
@kodybear: i think mine did, she would always eat from both sides and cluster feed at night (i.e. feed every hour for like 5 hours). it was horrible. but we got through it...i'm expecting the 6 week growth spurt around now, but she doesn't seem to be unusually hungry these days. sleeping a lot more though.
@highwire: wow, fancy! buy anything fun?
i still feel so uncomfortable bf-ing in public. i still can't get her latched on without looking and to do that, my hooter hider has to be out of the way with my boob exposed. yesterday i was trying to bf in the car outside of a restaurant and a minivan of teenage boys was right next to me. ugh! i hope the car seat blocked their view. anyone else have any pointers?
GOLD / eggplant / 11517 posts
@JessLC: not yet, but we are DYING to. I gave DH a bj in the parking lot the other night before we saw a movie. I'm only 2 weeks PP though so we still have a while to go.
bought the Baby Ktan carrier after a mom came up to me in the store and raved about it. Has good reviews on Amazon also!

@highwire: lol, lucky husband!
I have baby Ktan. Still figuring out how to get her positioned comfortably, but she seems to like it so far. I also have the ergo...
GOLD / eggplant / 11517 posts
@kml636: Haha, right? I mean I'm sure it is hormones and seeing him as a new daddy but everything about him turns me on right now lol!
I've had LO in the Ktan for 5 minutes and I already absolutely love it. And LO passed out within 30 seconds of getting in it. It is a world of difference to be able to comfort LO and keep her cozy and have both of my hands free!!! I think DH is going to love it also, since he was complaining about this exact issue last night (having no hands or having to do things one handed)

I've been meaning to mention this, but this thread has been an absolute life saver for me! I don't know what I would have done without having this to check in on during those lonely, dark middle of the night feedings as well as other times during the day. Ya'lls support has been my lifeboat the last two weeks.

@JessLC: I have been trying to use a cover at home without any luck - not sure how public is going to work out!
I know @mrsjyw and someone else recommended the Halo sleepsack - we tried our fleece one the hospital gave us and it got him so hot even with the bottom open! Hoping to run to Target tonight and find a cotton one.
@Mrs. Tricycle ack! hope you're feeling better ASAP!
Had our 2 week check up today - he's up to 8 lbs 6.4 oz (7.7 birth 7.3 at 5 day appt) and grew an inch! Wahoo!
Lots more fussiness trying to put him down for naps and bed, boo! Trying to stay zen about the move this week so it doesn't affect him/my supply but not having a whole lot of luck.
GOLD / eggplant / 11517 posts
@scg00387: Wow, an inch! Awesome. Our two week check up is tomorrow
LO sleeps in a sleep sack every night. We have two fleece and two cottons. Think I might stick with the cotton ones because my LO gets so warm in those fleece ones also!
Hope your move goes well.

@JessLC: My doctor cleared me for bedroom activities last Thursday, but we still haven't tried yet. I had a c section so hopefully I won't be so sore. I'm just worried about my boobs because we won't be able to enjoy them right now because they are still pretty tender and milk-filled.
blogger / pear / 1964 posts
@highwire: I hear ya! I know I have at least a few minutes of distraction when Im nursing at 3:00 AM. Thank you, Nov thread.
blogger / pear / 1964 posts
@JessLC: I use an a&a blanket and I drape it over MY head AND LO so I can see him latch. Once he's on, I just cover the side of my boob. I'm comfortable doing this in the living room in front of male relatives and in the back seat of a car, but not sure I'd want to sit in the mall with a blanket over my head to get him latched....

@Mrs. Tricycle: @highwire: I agree! I don't know what I would do without being able to check in with you all during middle of the night/ super early morning feedings.

@JessLC: I had to use a cover in the ER. I have the hooter hider. It was a little awkward, but I was able to bend the top so I could see her but nothing was exposed.

So far trying to implement more routine/ rhythm in our day seems to be going well. My baby is currently taking his third nap of the day IN HIS CRIB! Now I'm going to knock on wood and hope that I'm not jinxing us. Also, my making sure I'm feeding him about every three hours during the day it seems like we are having fewer nursing sessions. I think I was misinterpreting his fussy times that were due to being tired as cues that he was hungry.

@highwire: agreed, I'm so thankful for all of you! Every so often I look on the nov babycenter thread and... Cringe. Hellobee is so much better
pomegranate / 3225 posts
@ChelseaRose: me too. I'm trying to feed her longer every three hours rather than just giving her the boob every time she screams. She also slept in her crib last night!
