Any of you heading back to work soon? I am SO DEPRESSED thinking about leaving my LO and sending her to daycare. I feel like we just started to get into the swing of things and are having such a wonderful time together.

@mrsjyw: hooked up the humidifier yesterday and humidity levels are almost at 30% - less congestion today, yay!

@highwire I'm going to stay at home. I think now of past coworkers who came back at 6 weeks and cannot imagine going back that fast! Once he's over 1 year I'll probably look for part-time work so he can go to a daycare and get some socialization. When do you go back?

Starting to think about trying to find an exersaucer, LO's legs are about hanging down off the bouncer seat that I tote back and forth from the kitchen to the bathroom! He's been going to bed between 7 & 8 lately and it's so nice to have an hour or two of predictable peace before I want to go to sleep.

Bathed him at 7. Nuraing him now. Hoepfully he sleeps well.and looong hes been such a good sleeper ... and playing so well I die over hs baby talk.and smiles!!!

@highwire: I actually just talked with work today a delayed my return date by about 2.5 weeks. By the time I go back he will be just shy of 20 weeks old. At the beginning I would have loved to not have the stress of baby duties all day. However, like you, I feel like we are doing pretty well and enjoying each other.

My baby is going to be 12 weeks old tomorrow! The time has flown by! I know everyone says that it does and they are absolutely right. My husband and I were talking about how it feels like he was always here with us. He's the best thing ever and my favorite person in the whole world.

@highwire: So glad you're enjoying your little girl so much. Has your DH managed to bond more with her now? I feel for you having to go back to work soon.

@ChelseaRose: Aw, 12 weeks, wow! A is 11 weeks old now and I just love her more every single day, she gets more fabulous every hour : )

Has anyone else's baby had their first cold yet? A came down with one yesterday... the day before she was very clingy and quiet and yesterday she was very sneezy then today she's very blocked up, poor thing. I've done my best to keep her away from germs but now she goes to the hospital every Friday she's bound to pick things up. We used saline drops on her tonight but were way to chicken for the snot sucker!

@travelgirl1: My baby hasn't had a cold yet (knock on wood), but I'm sick right now. I'm so worried that he's going to get it, but there isn't much that can be done to prevent it. It's really hard and tiring to care for a baby when you feel like crap. I also feel bad that's he's not getting the stimulation and attention that he deserves. Luckily my mom was able to come over for a few hors today to help me with him.

@travelgirl1: yes, he has bonded more with her, thank goodness. Thanks for remembering that

I still have seven weeks until I go back. I'm not dreading it (yet!). I will miss her terribly but I think going back to the land of adults will be good for my mental health. It helps that we are really pleased with the daycare we found for her so I think it will be a happy place for her.

@ChelseaRose: That is amazing you can get that much leave! Yay! At my work I got the comment that 12 weeks was "a lot of mommy time". Don't even get me started!

Baby slept over 9 hours last night!! She was exhausted from screaming in a long car ride so I hope that's not the only reason and she can keep it up

@ChelseaRose: i got sick a couple weeks ago too but LO never got sick! i just tried to give her as much breastmilk as possible for the antibodies (from what i read on google) but hope you are feeling better soon! and taking care of a baby + being sick does suck.

@highwire: i have about 6 weeks left of maternity leave + vacation time. i'm dreading looking into daycares. it'll be hard to let my control freak self trust other people completely. and it'll be sad to see her only a couple hours a day but i know i have to work financially and the adult interaction will be nice.

@kml636: yay!! awesome! were you able to sleep that long too? i'm starting to feel normal again after getting some good nights sleep

LO still isn't smiling alot (maybe she's a really serious baby??) but she has seemed to do it alittle more lately. and she happened to start smiling when i was taking her 2 month shots!

@highwire: eek!! Yes! I go back on 2/14 and I can't believe the time has gone so quickly!! My FIL is going to serve as our "nanny" until school ends in June, so that helps with the stress, but I still am going to miss the baby sooo much! I love my job, but I love the Trikester waaaaay more.

@kodybear: Thanks, yeah I slept for most of that time and it felt amazing.

she is so precious! Now that she's smiling, she will start more and more I bet!

@ChelseaRose: Sorry you're sick, hope you feel better soon!

@highwire: Aw good, I'm glad he's bonded with her more, it's lovely seeing a little girl with their daddy.

    @kml636: That's a great sleep!

@kodybear: Aw look at her, sooo sweet!

Little A is still suffering with her cold but she's still very smiley. I'm confused as to whether to still take her for her shots on Friday, but they've already been delayed once. Ahhh I wish I had a crystal ball with all the parenting answers.

@travelgirl1: I know, it's so hard. Im sure she will be fine no mayter if you delay or not . For L's 2 month appt, the drs office was out of two shots! Didn't break my heart any since baby girl screamed and screamed with the ones she did get.

It's been a bit since I've checked in, but it sounds like everyone is doing so well! That's great!!

@travelgirl1: A sure sounds like a little champ! So glad things are going well for you guys. We had our 2 month shots on Saturday and I felt so bad for my little gal. It bothered her so much more than the 1 month. I nursed her right after and that seemed to help tremendously, but she was still fussy and tender that whole day. Baby Tylenol seemed to do the trick and she ended up sleeping really well that night. Any progress with the bottle issues? We haven't had a ton of luck. We're still making sure we do one a day though. Sometimes she screams, sometimes she doesn't - but it's rare that she takes more than an ounce or so. (But last night she took 3...go figure?)

@kodybear: @mrsjyw: Such cute little babies!

@ChelseaRose: Ugh...that sucks that you're sick. Are you able to take anything? It seems like every label (for vitamins, etc.) say to check with a doctor if BF'g. I've felt like I'm on the verge of getting a cold for a while now. *fingers crossed*

Em is starting to sleep a little better. We tried taking away the bassinet that we had inside her crib and her sleep definitely suffered for a few days. (One night, after trying to get her down for an hour, I caved and put the bassinet back in there. She gave a little sigh and immediately closed her eyes and went to sleep....little stinker!) She tends to sleep from 9pm to around 3:30 am, and then again until 7am. So, not as good as you all, but better than what it was and at least a little more predictable.

I go back to work on Feb 13th and am DREADING it. I'm looking forward to getting out on my own and having the adult interaction, but am so sad to be leaving her. I'm also worried about the logistics of it all (getting ready in the morning since my husband will already be gone by the time she gets up, pumping at work, etc).

Finally back down to pre-preg weight, but my body is so different. This blob of a stomach needs to go away. Whenever I can (not everyday), I've been doing the Jillian Michaels Body Revolution that I actually had started and was only one month into before finding out I was pregnant. I'm afraid that I won't be able to keep it up when I'm back at work though.

Here is my little lady at two months! Love her so much!!

@SLR: look at those beautiful eyes!! i feel exactly the same way about going back to work... and goodf or you on the pp weight loss!

i'm still stuck at 160 (128 is my happy weight, was at 136 prepreg), but hoping to get back in shape in these next couple of months...

So A was a champ at his 2 month well visit today. 12.13 oz, 23.5 inches! He got three shots in his thighs, and an oral vaccine. He only cried for a minute afterward, and DH was holding him when the shots were given; so I survived without tears.

He woke up from his evening nap with cries that I've NEVER heard from him. </3 Seriously, this is the hard part, not the actual shots. He was so sore from the shots that he even cried through his bath (which he LOVES)... nursed him, gave him 80 mL of baby tylenol, and put him down for the night... </3 hope he feels better tomorrow.

    @SLR: precious!!

@mrsjyw: oh poor baby A and poor momma.have ours on Tuesday (sob)

Any of your babies still cat napping? She doesn't take any sizeable Napa during the day. 5 minutes here, 15 mins there, nap in the car over there, etc. She's in a fine mood most of the time and sleeping heavily at night...not sure if I need to be consolidating her naps or not

  23. mrsjyw

    GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22646 posts

@highwire: good luck!! she'll be okay, just heart tugggs for mama...

A's been taking shorter naps this week, 30 min - 1 hour max... and usually 20 min catnaps scattered around; he's been sleeping longer at night though...

@mrsjyw: same thing happened with my LO! cried inconsolably for like 2 hours. tylenol did the trick though. you cut your gorgeous locks?? do you have a pic?

@highwire: LO is a serious cat napper. majority of her naps are 40 minutes long. i think this young, its ok as long as they aren't getting overtired...i mean, i can't make her nap if she doesn't want to.

    @SLR: adorable!

@@mrsjyw so pretty, wish I could pull off longer hair

@highwire he'd like to! I've been working pretty hard to get him napping more regularly or it just becomes a screamfest. he rarely will sleep in the carseat, but catnaps after nursing if I'll let him. but if he goes more than 2 hours without a decent 30 minute nap, it's a meltdown.

  28. kodybear

    pear / 1616 posts

@mrsjyw: love your hair! mine is super straight and boring!

LO has her 2 month shots on Tues. do you guys think that i should give her tylenol before the shots or wait till after when/if it is bothering her?

  29. SLR

    clementine / 824 posts

@kodybear: Our doc suggested that we wait a couple hours before giving it. She had her shots around 10:30 am and it wasn't until 3pm or so that she started getting really bothered by them.

@mrsjyw: Love the hair cut! I'm getting mine cut tomorrow for the first time since October. Soooo overdo for it.

@highwire: Still catnapping here. She can't seem to get past that first sleep cycle during the day. She used to sleep in the carseat really well, so I had been getting out for a couple hours each day just so she got one good long nap in. But as of the past week or so, she hasn't done as well in the car/stroller either.

I jinxed myself yesterday by saying that I was keeping my fingers crossed that I wasn't getting sick. I definitely am. And Em was a little warm yesterday, had several HUGE spit ups, and really fussy last night. I really hope she's not getting it. She screamed for over an hour when we were trying to put her to bed last night (just as bad as when she had her shots). We tried to put her down at 8pm, but it was closer to 9:30 by the time she finally fell asleep. Poor girl.

Hi ladies! Sounds like everyone is doing well' Little M has also been a terrible napper lately. The last couple of days she has only taken 20 minute naps and only on top of me. But honestly bad nap days usually mean good night sleep. Last night she slept 10pm-6:30am. Sooooo nice. We are still trying to figure out her food allergies. Cutting dairy and soy were no help. In fact she's even a little worse lately (getting small rashes, more fussy during the day). So I've now also cut out eggs, fish, nuts, and wheat. She has her two month appt on Monday so we'll follow up then. We may have to do a hypoallergenic formula for a couple days to give her system a break and let it heal up. I hate to have to do that but I also don't want to put her in pain just because of my commitment to exclusive breastfeeding. We'll see what the doc says....

Did everyone else make their husbands take time from work to come to the 2 month appointment? I just can't imagine doing it alone!

  31. SLR

    clementine / 824 posts

@MamaMoose: We did ours on a Saturday so he could come. I like having both of us there. He can take care of undressing & dressing her while I can ask my (long) list of questions to the doctor.

  32. SleepyMonkey

    grapefruit / 4006 posts

@kodybear: i'd wait until after for the tylenol - my LO cried for the shots, took a long nap and then woke up screaming 3 hours later.

@SLR: ooh i hope you feel better and she doesn't get sick!

@MamaMoose: i went to get her shots by myself. i had seen her stuck with needles so many times already so it wasn't too bad for me, but it wasn't any better for her! and you're doing a great job mama with all the diet elimination stuff!! i hope something clicks for you guys.

@kodybear: we gave a the tylenol a few hours after his shots. Wanted to see his reaction berore giving meds

Ughhhh so tired this am. A slept really well, 730-330. Then he was up every hour :*(... shoulddve given him anothr dose of tylenol...but thoight he wad ok.n didn't want to overdo th med...lesson learned for 4 mth check!

@kodybear: our ped said there's not a recommendation for best practice either way but well be giving a preventative dose at the appointment. Ours is Monday too and I'm dreading it. Hoping that since he's such a chunk the effects will be lessened ugh.

  35. SleepyMonkey

    grapefruit / 4006 posts

@mrsjyw: sorry mama! i'm tired too but it is because DH was snoring all night. i poked him probably 7 times over the night to make him turn on his side, but he kept sleeping on his back. then LO woke up at 4:45 to nurse and i couldn't fall asleep after that. bleh.

@MamaMoose: My husband wasn't able to because he just started a new job earlier that month (December). He did aske my mom to go with before I even had the chance to ask her. I was happy to have an extra set of hands there and after.

@kodybear: sorry to butt in on your thread but I just thought I'd let you know that in New Zealand they no longer recommend giving a preventative dose of pain relief just in case it masks any adverse reaction to a vaccination good luck with your jabs!

@kodybear: @scg00387: @Kemma: I was just talking with a pediatrician friend and she told me a study just came out showing that preventative doses of Tylenol can cause the vaccines to be less effective so she told me not to do it.
