@SLR: LO usually gets 3-4 bottles while she is at daycare. 3, 4.5 oz and then another that is somewehere between 2.5 and 3.5 oz.
So, this is our day:
6:45 nurse
7:30 drop off at daycare - will have 3-4 bottles (not on any schedule)
6/6:15 nurse when she gets home
7:30 nurse during bedtime routine
And at this point she is also eating twice a night when she wakes. I am usually too soft and too tired to try to let her fuss it out at this point.
I pump 3x a day - usually around 10, 1, 4 and get 15-17 ounces. I then just send the bags of milk with LO the next day (our daycare mama makes bottles) and then anything left over from that day goes in her freezer stash at daycare. On weekends I try to pump at night a couple times so that I can build a little stash here for myself.
I really hope your LO feels better! I am going to be such a wreck when ours gets sick the first time... which we all know will happen eventually!
We also joined the swaddle-weaning train last night after Ellora ROLLED OVER from back to tummy for the first time during her bedtime routine. She was loving it, giggling and smiling and I was like - oh no here we go! Took a long time to get her to really fall asleep (didn't really go down until 10:15), and then a long time for her to sleep after she woke to eat (woke at 2, finally asleep at 4) but other than that it went alright. I hope this is a start to her sleeping better because she was very close to rolling for a while now and would get fussy about it when put in her crib. I'm still nervous about letting her sleep on her tummy but if she's going to roll that way on her own there's nothing I can really do about it, right?

@SLR:
She eats 2 oz of breastmilk (the average amount I pump at each session) and then takes as much as she wants of a 4 oz bottle of formula at each feeding. The first day she didn't eat much of the formula. But Tuesday and Wednesday she ate all the breastmilk and formula. I opted not to mix the two because I want to make sure she drinks all the breastmilk. I'm okay with them pouring out unused formula (but not my precious liquid gold!)
We also send an extra 4 oz bottle of formula if she gets hungry after the 3 PM feeding and we haven't arrived to pick her up at 6. But I want her to be hungry when we reunite so she gets a good nursing session in with me at 615/630 when we get home.
5-7 AM: We nurse at some point
9 AM: She gets 2 oz of breastmilk, up to 4 oz of formula if she wants it (I pump at 9:30)
12 PM: She eats again (I pump at 12:30)
3 PM: She eats again (I pump at 3:30)
6 PM: We nurse, I offer formula which she sometimes takes, sometimes not.
9 PM: I pump at home (either send for next day or freeze)
1 Middle of the night feeding (always a different time of the night): Always nurse, sometimes give her formula on top of that afterwards if she won't go back to sleep
This whole process will streamline much better once we finish our stock of formula and get her onto the formula brand that the daycare provides. Then we can just send breastmilk each day. So much easier!

@lindseykaye: Aw cute!!! Charlotte rolled over from front to back last night once. We tried to get her to do it again on camera and she wasn't having it! LOL

Hey all! Anyone sit LO in a high chair yet? I just got ours and he loves being at table height! It's adorable. Back to increased spit up because he cant stop chewing on his hands and drooling all over them. We've been out of the house more often lately but he still starts screaming if he's in the seat near his nap time. So jealous of everyone who can use it as a nap spot! Dreading the five hour trip home over Easter.

@scg00387: We haven't gotten one yet, but I keep meaning to because she isn't into the swing and I think she'd prefer something higher than her little bouncy seat. Do you recline it or sit him upright?
honeydew / 7687 posts
@SLR: iTs reclined! He still sits in the bouncy seat in the bathroom while I shower but his feet hang over haha.

@SLR: how long did it take for the antibiotics to take effect? L has an ear infection too and we started them last night so she has had 2 doses so far. Without the tylenol she cries quite a bit still.
clementine / 824 posts
@SleepyMonkey: I’m not really sure. We started it on Tuesday night, so she’s been on it for three days now (seven more to go). She is starting to act like she’s feeling a little better, but I’m not sure if it’s the medicine or that the respiratory infection has just started to run its course. We go back to the doctor tomorrow morning, so I’ll let you know if they see a big improvement in how it looks. Oddly enough, jer ear itself never seemed to really be bothering her! Hope your LO feels better soon!! It’s so painful to watch them suffer.

@lindseykaye: @highwire: Way to go Ellora and Charlotte! I don't think we're anywhere near rolling yet.
GOLD / eggplant / 11517 posts
So far Charlotte seems healthy after her first week of daycare.
But I have a scratchy throat! If the only person that gets sick from daycare is me, I will be glad. I'm so paranoid about what she's going to catch there. It is a big reason why I'm still breastfeeding even though we have to supplement.

@SLR: OK. Thanks! I hope your LO feels better too! I feel terrible that I gave her this cold and she couldn't fight it. I feel 100% better and she is getting worse.

We've been working on drowsy but awake since we regressed after ditching the swaddle to putting down passed out... Down at 730 without tears tonight yay!
@mamamoose how's your LO on the restricted diet??

Night three with the one arm out swaddle and we are basically back to how he was sleeping before. He did not wake up for the paci, thank goodness, and slept from about 9-6. I nursed him and put him back down and he slept until 9am. After pumping, I also went back to sleep for an extra hour or two and feel like a new person. I noticed that he also started chewing or sucking on his unswaddled hand (which he does during the day a decent amount) so I hope he can replace the paci with that and we won't have to hassle with weaning from it.
Hope you all have a great weekend with your little ones!
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22646 posts
@ChelseaRose: hooooray! Sounds like he'll self soothe wo paci and be swaddle free soon!
Just got back from drinks w my cousins (like lil sisters)...a has been a champ in the sleep dept and first wk of work ended well
Def enjoying the new normal.
Have any of ur los shown signs of teething? I don't think we r there yet but have noticed lots of drooling and a biting/chewing his lips! Can't believe he's three mths and how fast he is growing/changing!!

What high chairs do y'all have?? Wr have the graco duodiner... wondering if we should exchange it
persimmon / 1161 posts
@mrsjyw: We don't have one yet and I can't decide what to get.
We do have some teething signs, such as tons of drool, chewing everything (hands, paci-he moves it to the side to chew, toys, clothes).
pear / 1992 posts
@mrsjyw: yep - signs of teething for almost a month now! Drooling like crazy, pink cheeks sometimes, biting/gumming, and even what look like lighter/white mark on her bottom gums.
With rolling and this, I seriously want he to slow down a little
We're not in a high chairs at all yet. She sits in the bumbo here and there though. We tried her doorway jumper but she's still too small to fit right or enjoy it so back up in the closet it went. Feels like she's out-growing her swing though...

C is back to STTN for the last several nights. Yayy
Lots of drool, hand sucking, etc. over here as well.
I think we have our first cold. She had a stuffy nose yesterday :'( she's still asleep right now (12 hours!!) But ill be checking her symptoms and temperature when she wakes

@SleepyMonkey: So her Saturday appt was after four days of antibiotics. The dr said that her ear looked "better" but still had a ways to go. How is your LO feeling now? I think mine is feeling much better but her night sleep has been awful. She's waking to eat every two to three hours! I think she lost a little weight while sick, so hopefully it's just a very short term blip!! Back at daycare today...hoping she does better there this week.
grapefruit / 4006 posts
@SLR: L is doing horribly she is either the same or worse, I can't really tell because we are giving her tylenol every 4 hours. Without it she screams inconsolably. Yesterday was probably the worst, she was starving but would latch for two sucks and then scream. I think something is hurting when she swallows. And her runny nose is back. We are still traveling but moved our flight up early. Im going to take her to the doc tomorroe to get checked out again. And yes, her sleep is the worst its been since she she was 2-3 weeks old...waking up every 3 hours to eat. During the day its a struggle to get her to eat, so there is some reverse cycling going on. Aaagggh! And of course I start back at work full time next week. I'm afraid her sleep is going to be messed up forever!
Hope your LO gets better soon! Having a sick baby is the worst! Good luck to you guys.
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22646 posts
Hey mamas! How are you all doing?
Hope all the sick babies are getting better!
Alls well over here... just reading up on Daylight Savings Time coming up in a few weeks.
This Saturday is A's "100-day" dinner at our house. Korean ppl celebrate the 100 days since birth as they count the 9/10 months in utero and so the 100th day out of womb for a full term baby is their "first bday." We're just having dinner with family, my brother is in town and loves and can't believe how much A has grown in 3 months!
Work is busy as expected. But still get some AMs to HB and be lazy.
I haven't had to buy new work clothes! But, I've still got 15 lbs or so to lose of preg weight.
Pumping at work is going fine, I just netflix on my phone and I've got a pretty good 20 min routine down.
A is sleeping/eating well (5x a day, sleeps 730-7/730). And getting bigger every frigging day. He plays in his exersaucer, loves sitting in the high chair.
The one thing I need to focus on is tummy time on the floor. We haven't done much of that and while he's got amazing head control, I have a feeling he might not be interested in rolling anytime soon!
Hope y'all are having a great week, we're due for a snowstorm tonight, so I'm going to work from home the next few days.

Doing well! C is thriving at daycare. No illness yet *knock on wood*
I pumped my most ever yesterday at work - almost 8 oz over three pumping sessions. I had oatmeal with flax seed for breakfast.
Today, I'm not pumping much at all. This morning when I nursed her she seemed furious because there wasn't very much milk coming out. Have barely 3 ounces when I should be around 4 already by this time. I'm going to eat some more oatmeal/flax this afternoon and see if that helps. I usually pump an extra time at 9 PM after she is already asleep, but I have been skipping that every once in awhile the last few days. Maybe I need to be more diligent about it to keep my supply up.
I've got a growing freezer stash - over 20 oz in there now. I guess we may have to dip into that if I don't pump enough today. We usually send 6 oz to daycare each day for her (plus she gets formula)
Work has been crazy. My boss is on a mad dash to overhaul the company and bring in more business so we have been slammed. It definitely makes the day go by faster so I can get home to my baby girl.
She's still sleeping well. She either STTN (goes down at about 730/8 and I wake her up in the morning to leave for daycare around 7) or she wakes up once for a quick feeding anytime between 12 and 5. I know she can sleep all the way through without eating, but I'm too scared to deny her milk during a middle of the night wake-up and risk her waking up a second time, so I just feed her if she wakes up. Not sure when a good time would be to work on trying to get her to go back down without milk. While I was on maternity leave, I always tried to feed her as often as possible in the evening hours so she had a full belly for bed. Now, when she gets home from daycare, she nurses, but doesn't want to drink any formula after because she is so tired. I don't want to force her to eat, but it seems to help her STTN when she eats enough in the evenings. Oh well. One wake up each night isn't a huge deal either way. If she wants to get up and nurse, that's okay. It is a good thing for my milk supply, so I always have that in mind when we have to get up in the middle of the night.
She has rolled over twice but both seem to be total accidents. One was weeks ago, and the other one was last week. But we can't get a repeat out of her. She's definitely reaching and grasping for toys now, which is new over the last couple of days. We do tummy time every day. She used to get up on her elbows really well and hang out, but now she is too busy trying to figure out how to roll over. Poor thing can't seem to coordinate both sets of limbs the right way to get her to flip over. Keep working baby girl!
DH is being so wonderful. He still handles all household duties (dishes, laundry, cooking dinner, preparing bottles) and lets me get quality time with baby girl after work. He's making things so easy while we adjust to our new schedule.

@mrsjyw: Cute new pic! Glad working is going well for you. While I"m at work the days feel super long, but so do the days when I'm at home! Hoping two days a week in the office will give me a good balance.
@highwire: Glad daycare is going well for you too! That is awesome you were able to pump that much! I'm always in a hurry pumping at work so I usually stop as soon as I get to 4 oz.
Those night wakings are tricky. L usually STTN but when she does wake, I try the pacifier and if that doesn't work I just feed her, it's just easier to get her to go to sleep but I'm so paranoid about creating bad habits! Once you think you have something figured out, it seems to change. ugh.
persimmon / 1161 posts
@kml636: I do the same thing when he wakes up. I offer the paci first and if he rejects it a few times, then I feed him. He got up at 3am (after sleeping 7 hours) this morning and didn't want the paci. When I did nurse him he completely emptied both breasts! He must have been really hungry. He went back down until 7am. He seems to be doing a 7-9 hour stretch followed by a 2-4 hour stretch. I know that is technically STTN, but it doesn't feel like it.
I go back to work in three more weeks!
honeydew / 7687 posts
We're basically same old same old here! Awful naps, decent night sleep. Finally getting into a semblance of a nighttime routine even if it's only 5/6 hours followed by 3/4 (and then sometimes 1). He refuses a pacifier and seems to be genuinely hungry at the wakings so what can ya do!
He's loving sitting in his high chair and reacts so strongly when you blow food smells in his face - loves peanut butter and banana smells but hates turkey and apple!
His baby hair is falling out like gangbusters but new hair is already coming in. We have 2 trips to my folks' house for Easter and for a wedding so I'm nervously trying to get him more used to the car seat as much as possible.
He is weighing in at a whopping 16 lbs... Yikes! Most of our cloth diapers are fitting well now, phew, so I don't have to do laundry nightly.
@SleepyMonkey: Ok, now that I know it's "you" - how has your back been! Mine seems to be coping better these days.
honeydew / 7687 posts
@mrsjyw: I've never heard of that tradition, hope the dinner is a lot of fun!
@highwire that is so awesome of your husband. our LO is the same with rolling - has done it by accident and gets frustrated trying to do it again! he loves to be up on his side in the crib but can't seem to stay that way yet either.
@SLR hope your LO feels better soon
@mrs.tricycle how has your little guy been?

@scg00387: 16lbs! Wow. Good job mama!! L has her 4 no checkup on Thurs and I'm guessing she is around 14lbs 10oz? My back has been better too. I've been going to Pilates classes which Are helping strengthen my back muscles, but it still gets sore and tight pretty much every day. We haven't tried the high chair yet.. dhe is still wobbly and not the least interested in food! Lately she has barely been interested in the boob either. She is so distracted while nursing.

Hey ladies! I feel like I haven't posted here in ages. I can't believe we've gone from having brand new babies to most people being back at work - time is flying! Sounds like everyone is thriving and loving their new little families though : )
I had two quick questions: 1) how on earth do you get your baby to sleep? I nurse her down and that can take a while sometimes. My doctor recommended CIO but it's way too early for us to do that. Sad to think that one day we may have to though : (
2) How much does your baby weight? A is a little slip of a thing, 16 weeks old and just over 12lb. The girl is TALL though! They unstrapped her harness for five minutes on Friday and I was AMAZED at how tall she was, I had no idea she was growing so long.
Hope you're all having a great week : )

@travelgirl1: We've been putting him down sleepy, but awake (with a pacifier though) since he was really little. We also swaddle, but are getting away from it after he rolled over while swaddled. We let him fall asleep on his own. We follow more of a eat, play, sleep pattern so I didn't get in the habit of nursing to sleep. If it works for you then it's not a problem. I'm going to weigh him tomorrow at a breast feeding group, but he was 14lbs 10oz two weeks ago. I think he's close to 26 inches long. His 4 month appointment is next Tuesday so we wil get official stats then.
We are trying the Merlin's magic suit tonight. He fell asleep quickly and hasn't woken himself up with his hands yet, so that's a step in the right direction.

Hi ladies! It has been so much harder to pop in now that I am back at work. So glad everyone seems to be doing well!!
I think Em is feeling a whole lot better. Can't really say for sure about her ears, but the coughing and raspy breathing sounds so much better.
But, I think our night sleep is permanently screwed. She went from STTN for a period of 2-3 weeks last month to reverting back to every 3-5 hours. After getting sick, this went to 2-3 hours and were just now starting to build back up to the 3-5 range. Before, she would wake up and stir a few minutes, then start the soft grunts/moans before actually crying....so this gave her a chance to soothe herself back to sleep. But now, she wakes up almost howling (not really a cry even?) and there is no way she would put herself back to sleep. She hasn't been into the paci either, so now I'm finding that I have to feed her to get her to go back to sleep. Any suggestions from all you STTN mama's? What am I doing wrong?!

@scg00387: hi all! The Trikester is doing well! Trying to get his three month update together. We are coming off a week of failed sleep training which is a super annoying so we're still co sleeping, but otherwise life has gotten so much easier!
I read everyone's updates and it is soo crazy we all have older babies!!
grapefruit / 4006 posts
@travelgirl1: we have been putting her down since she was really little too, awake. she learned to fall asleep on her own, although i can't say that she never falls asleep while nursing. we did the patting/rocking a lot since she's been sick, and i think she's gotten used to it. so she's been waking up more in the middle of the night and it has become a habit so we are actually letting her cry between the hours of midnight and 6am. last night we let her cry at 3am and 4am. she cried for 10-15 mins and then fell back asleep. i felt bad, but it wasn't as terrible as i thought it would be. @SLR: that is what we've decided to do. it worked out well last night, but who knows what tonight will be like. she has never taken to the paci either but has found her hand and sucks on it like crazy. she's also taken to some other self-soothing techniques....shaking her head vigorously back and forth and patting the top of her head with her hand =/
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22646 posts
@travelgirl1: I think A's weight gain had a TON to do with his STTN. He was never a 10+ sleeper, always did 6-8 hours fed and slept for another 3-4; then week 9/10ish he was up 2-3x a night feeding. Week 11 (when he hit 15ish lbs), we unswaddled him cold turkey, a few days later, transitioned him to his own crib, and after a couple nights of rough sleep/paci he's been sleeping through the night 730-7, no paci--self soothes with his hands when he wakes and falls back asleep.
As far as putting him down to sleep after the first month, we always put him down drowsy or awake and he learned to fall asleep on his own; we got really lucky that he didn't cry or fuss much at all. He almost always falls asleep during our bedtime nursing session though, then he wakes to burp and look around his room a bit before I lay him down and say good night. Sometimes he'll fidget and fall asleep, sometimes he fusses -- when it's extra fussy I go in and pat him on his chest and caress his face a bit and he slowly starts to drift off.
