Swaddle weaning is officially postponed to the indefinite future. We got three nights this weekend of STTN thanks to the Halo Sleep Sack Swaddle Blanket (8 PM - 9 AM on Friday , and 7:45 PM - 6 AM on Saturday, and 7:45 PM - 5:45 AM on Sunday)

I didn't even remotely mind the 5:45 AM wake-up this morning. DH wasn't as thrilled

@mrsjyw: sooo precious! Love his cheeks and hair!

@highwire I've been so tempted to swaddle again for naps but I don't want to have to wean off it again!

@scg00387: I swaddled him again because he's been sick and I was worried that he would be too hot in the merlin sleep suit if he got a fever (he never seemed overheated when well though). Of course he rolled over while swaddled again this morning. I actually watched him do it on the monitor and showed my mom too. I wasn't nearly as freaked out about it though because he did a good job of keeping his head to the side and yelling for me, but was just as pleased with himself when we rolled him back over.

Oh! He finally rolled over tummy to back last night durin evening tummy time. I didn't see it though! My husband was playing with him while I was being lazy on the couch. He didn't want to do it again though. Maybe today.

We finished off our Similac Advance supply and have switched her over to Gerber Good Start, since that is the brand the daycare has and provides at no additional cost.

So now we just have to send breastmilk each day and one empty bottle for her formula. So much easier!

  11. ChelseaRose

    persimmon / 1161 posts

@highwire: That makes it so much easier! Do daycare centers usually provide diapers too or do you have to buy and send them with her?

My little guy had his four month shots today! Poor baby. He cried for a couple minutes, nursed when we got home, and then passed out. Last time he was so uncomfortable that I will definitely give him some Tylenol when he gets up if he's cranky and in pain again.

@ChelseaRose: Our daycare provides diapers, wipes, and formula - which is awesome! I have never come across another daycare that does that.

    @ChelseaRose: @kml636: @scg00387: @highwire: @kodybear: thank you for your sweet words mamas!

@highwire: woot! sounds so much easier!!

@chelserose: awww we will def give A baby tylenol in a few wks after his 4 month shots!

A hasn't rolled over yet. I think he might be late on this one since I wasn't good about floor tummy time until recently. He looovess sitting/standing up and hates laying down. I think he just associates with sleeping! and that's what he does for most of his night! He's in the high chair and exersaucer and he is IN LOVE with our fish tank. My mom props him up on the high chair and he'll be good for 30 min just watching the fish, laughing, kicking his legs.

So I thought going to work was supposed to get easier, but it's been so hard to leave him in the AMs. He's in the BEST mood after sleeping all night/nursing and that's just when I have to leave :*(... and then I feel so rushed having to spend 1/5-2 hours with him at home when I get home. And that's WITH leaving before 5pm and getting the stinkeye from some co-workers! Thank god I can work from home 2 days a week...! Already feels like it's been forever since last wknd and it's only been 2 days! (yep it's that kind of week.)

So question for you on the PP weight loss front.

How the heck do I still have 15 lbs to lose to get to prepreg weight but I managed to fit into my prepreg jeans (button, zipped, comfortable) but have this uncontrollable flabby belly that looks like my 4months preggo belly! wahhhhhhhhhh.

I've been paleoing, but I need to get some sort of exercise routine going to get another jump start at this stage. And here I thought BFing was going to just POOF make the weight disappear!

@mrsjyw: C isn't rolling over yet either. She has done it twice on accident. We do tummy time every day, and she used to enjoy it, but now that she's working so hard to figure out how to roll over, she gets really irritated

  16. ChelseaRose

    persimmon / 1161 posts

W has rolled over tummy to back twice so far. Once on Sunday and once yesterday. He also rolled over back to tummy twice, but both times were when swaddled and restless in the morning.

@mrsjyw: yeah, I hear you. People keep telling me I look great but I still would love to lose about 20 lbs. 10 from baby and 10 from a miscarriage. I have this wierd belly squish! I want to diet, but I get so hungry!

@ChelseaRose: aw poor guy not looking forward to those in a few weeks!@mrsjyw: LO has rolled but only a few times - he gets so frustrated trying to do it again!

@mrsjyw: What a great looking fam! I think you look great, but can totally relate to how you feel on the weight loss. I lost all the weight in terms of pounds, but am not happy with my shape. I feel like such a ball of mush. :(. I was getting into a good groove of working out (DVDs, but still!) while I was on leave, but now that I'm back at work, there is just not time in the day. Oh, and screw your coworkers for giving you the stinkeye!!! Your priorities have changed now and that is A-Okay. I used to be a workaholic, leaving at 4pm but always back online at night...but that's not happening anymore.

  20. mrsjyw

    GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22646 posts

@kml636: @SLR: yup. ball of mush is right. it's nice to hear the "you look great" comments, but still doesn't make me happy with this postpartum body :'(... i don't want to diet with BFing, so i really need to kick working out into high gear, but it's so hard to make time for it now that i'm back at work i guess we just gotta work 2x as hard at getting it back!

@mrsjyw: Love the photos from the party! How fun to be able to celebrate this milestone as well as his eventual first birthday!
On the weight loss - I still have 10 lbs to go until my pre-preg weight and (like so many) would love to lose another 10 more that I gained over the 4 years since we were married. I've started paying more attention to what I eat, fewer carbs and more veggies. It's hard though when I am exhausted. I also seem to have this sweet tooth I NEVER had before or even during pregnancy! I haven't actually "worked out" since early in my third trimester but try to take a good long walk with the baby and the dog at least once a week. Ideally I would do this every day after work, but there's so little time between getting home from daycare and the bedtime routine
I'm just trying to cut myself some slack, and gave in and ordered clothes that fit my new body better rather than trying to squeak by until I eventually lose the weight. I still feel beautiful, even if things are just different now.

We officially have a tummy sleeper now. She refuses to sleep on her back unless she's fallen asleep in the carseat. I was worried at first, but have come to realize there is nothing I can do to keep her from rolling over during the night even if we could somehow get her to sleep on her back again. The swaddle is long gone and she seems to be weaning herself from the paci (or something?) because she will reach up and take it out herself when I'm rocking her after nursing. Growing up too fast I say!

I'm going back to work next week so we went to do a visit at LO's daycare to kind of transition her into it. omg i kept tearing up at the thought of leaving her! i'm going to be a mess next week for sure. how did you guys get through it??

Three weeks of work are now in the books! I can't believe it.

LO Is thriving at daycare. And my pump does a lot better job than her nursing so she's actually getting way more breastmilk than she used to. Yay!

@highwire: wow, that's amazing! I hate pumping and I have to force myself to get 4oz a session when pumping at work.

    clementine / 824 posts

@kodybear: My first couple days back at work weren't bad at all. I think I was so distracted by everyone stopping by and asking about LO, I didn't have a chance to get upset. The next week was harder because it started to sink in that I wouldn't get to spend all my days with her anymore. But, we're starting to get into a rhythm now. And the days and nights are so busy, the weeks seem to be flying by. It still sucks, but I'm dealing with it! :). Good luck next week, it will get easier!

    @lindseykaye: Lovely pic!

@kodybear: Good luck for going back to work, will be thinking of you!

IS everyone officially swaddle weaned now? We did it for a few nights then went back to it, but we've weaned again and it's all fine. She really hates going to sleep at the moment though. I am envious of all of you who can get babies to sleep by stroking their face or back - A would pitch a fit if I did that, ha ha. Seriously, she'd go nuts. Baby girl is the sweetest natured girl in the world but she won't take any crap at bedtime : )

  34. DillonLion

    GOLD / eggplant / 11517 posts

@travelgirl1: we tried swaddle weaning and it did not work, so we are still swaddling! She's almost 15 weeks

  35. kml636

    pomegranate / 3225 posts

@travelgirl1: I moved her to a swaddle sack for 3 nights and she woke each night. In the miracle blanket plus woombie she STTN. So I may try again soon. 16 weeks weds. How did you do it?

  36. ChelseaRose

    persimmon / 1161 posts

We swaddle weaned by doing one arm for several nights and then into a baby Merlin sleep suit. Then he got sick and I swaddled him again. We went directly back to the sleep suit. The first night was fine, but I think we are now dealing with some sleep regression issues. And just in time for me to go back to work in a week! He's having trouble staying asleep during naps (sometimes) and also at night. For example, yesterday he took his first nap and slept for about two hours. He took three short naps of about 30-45 minutes during the rest of the day. At night he slept for about 5 hours, the woke up and was given the pacifier. He woke up an hour later so I nursed him. He was actually hungry and nursed on both sides. Then he slept until 6:30, got the paci again. Then woke up at 7:30 for the day. It sucked. I don't think there's much I can do about it though other than wait it out. I wish he'd decide to suck his thumb so he could self-soothe that way and then get himself back to sleep.

@kml636: Both times we just stopped fastening the swaddle bits of the Halo Swaddle Sleepsack and fastened them around her chest instead. Now she sleeps with her hands behind her head, it's so cute!

  38. kml636

    pomegranate / 3225 posts

@ChelseaRose: i was thinking of trying the merlin, but i have bought so many swaddles already I put it off. I think shes also in a sleep regression.. She wakes up 40 mins into naps swaddle in her crib. In her car seat she will sleep 2 hours. @travelgirl1: thats so cute! I need to do it soon, I'm just scared.

  39. travelgirl1

    cantaloupe / 6630 posts

@kml636: We were a bit scared and she doesn't roll over so it's not like we had to do it, but I wanted to try because swaddling her was getting frustrating in the sense that the velcro would wake her up every.single.time. That or it would scratch my nipple, ouch! That's the only sleep-related thing we've mastered though. She's crying in the bedroom with her daddy right now and I know it's a matter of time before I need to go help. Poor baby girl.

  40. SLR

    clementine / 824 posts

@ChelseaRose: With the Merlin, is that something you can use after they start rolling, or do you need to stop then? LO is so close to rolling (back to front) that I know is just a matter of a couple weeks (maybe days!) before we need to start swaddle weaning at night. I don't know what we'll do then.
