Had another appointment with my backup doctor today, got the Rhogam and passed the GD test with flying colors, but I'm 28 weeks and measuring at 34 cm., so it's another ultrasound for me. I honestly am not too concerned, I know it's going to be polyhydramnios again, but then I googled and freaked myself out, EVEN THOUGH I'VE ALREADY GONE THROUGH A PERFECTLY NORMAL PREGNANCY AND DELIVERY WITH POLY!!!! Lol, anyways. I lost 2 lbs. since my last appointment, so I think I'll be sticking with a mainly primal diet. Anyways, so that's about it. I'll be glad when this polyhydramnios resolves itself.

@FarmWifeGina: Yay for passing. I go tomorrow and I'm getting nervous!! So, will they do an u/s to check fluid levels?

@FarmWifeGina: so glad you passed!!!
@Ash: My 3 hour is tomorrow morning and I'm nervous! I also have a feeling that I'll be bored out of my mind, but at the same time, it will be a nice break from the first week of school!

@Ash: Yep, I go on Tuesday for an ultrasound to check fluid levels. Which, I know they're going to be high, so whatever. At least I get another chance to try to see the gender, teehee, since I still haven't got my "quick scan" to see.
And I don't envy you- so glad it's done over with. I didn't get to eat until after 12:30 pm, I was starving! But thankfully, I felt mostly fine through it, other than a little foggy, just like the other times I've taken it. But I can't imagine having to suffer through the 3-hour and now I don't have to worry, and I hope you don't either, @Ash: and @lilteacherbee:!

@FarmWifeGina: you always find the silver lining lol! I go in at 9 so I'm hoping to not be there too long. I see one of the doctors afterwards. Fingers crossed for a peek of Cricket's goods! And for a good appt!
@lilteacherbee: Good luck! Dh is going with so I'm sure my 1hr will go fast...

@Ash: Good luck at your glucose test today!!!
@FarmWifeGina: Glad you passed your glucose test! I still don't have my results, but I left a message this AM to see if they have them. I hope everything looks ok on Tuesday with your amniotic fluid.
@lilteacherbee: Good luck at your 3 hour test today!

Well I've had 3 blood draws so far, 1 to go! The poor nurse feels so badly because my veins are ridiculous. I'm totally used to it at this point, between my m/c last year (making sure my levels were going down because they took foreverrrr) and getting blood drawn during this pregnancy every month for the antibody stuff. But it has taken 2-3 sticks for EACH time this morning. I seriously have a billion band aids. My veins are teeny tiny and they "roll." Woohoo! Lots of fun over here
nectarine / 2705 posts
@lilteacherbee: ooh ouch! 2-3 sticks! I'm fine with getting my blood drawn, but I like it best when they are good at it and just go in and get it done. How are you holding up? For the 3 hour test could you eat anything before it? I still don't know my results, so I'm curious what could be in store for me.
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@sweetooth: Nope, I was told not to eat after midnight, so I haven't had anything except the drink and some water since right before I went to bed at 10pm. It's okay, but I have a killer headache from all the sugar. I've got 30 minutes until my last draw and then I'm outta here! I should know by the end of the day if I passed (fingers crossed!). I asked about their numbers. For the fasting, they like below 95. One hour later-below 180, two hours later- below 160, and three hours later- below 135.
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@Ash: I'm sorry!! Did they tell you your number?
It's not too bad. I literally got stuck 11 times (I counted!), so that sucks. I didn't start feeling like crap until right at the end. Odds are that you'll pass the 3 hour. Hopefully we both will!
nectarine / 2705 posts
@lilteacherbee: I hope you have a tasty lunch planned! I bet the sugar headache is even worse on the 3-hr. I had a pretty bad one on Monday.
@Ash: I'm sorry you didn't pass. I'm amazed you got your results so quickly. I haven't heard back from my office - but truthfully, I'd rather stay unaware for a little while longer. Good luck on Monday!
honeydew / 7909 posts
@lilteacherbee: my 1hr was 167.
I hope we both pass too! I don't know why I'm so disappointed in not passing.
nectarine / 2705 posts
@Ash: I'd be bummed too. It's never fun to hear that you failed something. What would make you feel better? A tasty treat? A trip to the Bahamas? A margarita? How about a long holiday weekend?
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@Ash: Mine was 148. I know my office usually doesn't even do the 3 hour if its above 180. But 167 still isn't exceptionally high. I'm thinking good thoughts for you!!!
@sweetooth: I got to school right as my class was going to lunch. We had pizza and strawberries today, 2 of my faves!! I took a Tylenol too and now I'm feeling much better, thank goodness. I thought I might pass out at the end when they were trying to get the last blood draw. They have to use the blood pressure cuff to try to get my veins to cooperate and that was making me dizzy!
honeydew / 7909 posts
@sweetooth: they just did a finger stick before I left the office - checked my blood sugar and my hemoglobin (at least that was good). Hahah! A trip would be lovely, honestly. I work the weekend so that only makes the day worse. hope you get your results soon!
@lilteacherbee: I'm not a big carb person so I felt like crap after drinking the trutol. Blech! Gonna take a nap now! They want our results to be under 151. Did you have to do a high carb diet for 3 days prior to your draw today?
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@Ash: Nope, they didn't say anything about changing my diet. And I'm so jealous about the finger sticks! My office JUST changed policies where they do blood draws now. I think finger sticks hurt worse but they are quick. Each time I got my blood drawn today, it was a 20 min process!
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
So I failed
If at least 2 of your numbers are too high, then they diagnose you with GD at my office. They said my fasting number was good. My one hour number was 198 and the cut off is 180. My two hour number spiked to 218 and the cut off is 160. My three hour number was 113 and the cut off was 135. So basically my blood sugar went up at the 2 hour mark when it should have went down
I'm going to go cry for a bit.

@lilteacherbee: Oh noooooo. I'm sorry, lady. That blows super hard. Now what happens??
nectarine / 2705 posts
@lilteacherbee: hugs I'd cry too. But just think, this is something you can do something about, with this knowledge you will just have to make some adjustments. Take the time you need to work through it though.

@ms.janedoe: @sweetooth: Thanks guys I know it's not the end of the world, but it still sucks. They would be referring me to MFM, but I'm already being seen there. I actually have an appointment next Thursday for a growth ultrasound, so they are going to see if I can meet with the nutritionist as well.
My grandmother has diabetes (but hers has to be controlled with insulin), so I'm pretty aware of the diet and finger pricking and such. I try really hard not to complain about pregnancy because it took 13 months and a miscarriage to get here, but I kinda just wanna know why it has to be complicated for me?! I know I'm seriously blessed to be pregnant with a seemingly healthy baby boy....it's just frustrating!!
I'm trying to think of positives:
1) I will have to make healthier choices which will be better in the long run
2) Maybe losing the baby weight will be easier because I won't gain as much?
3) I'm terrified of birthing a huge baby because I'm small. And because I'm just paranoid in general (losing baby in labor/stillbirth). It makes me feel better that I will be closely monitored.
4) If they talk about induction, at least I will have a good "end date" rather than possibly waiting 1-2 weeks overdue and being freaked out about #3 /\

@lilteacherbee: Aww, I'm sorry. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me. I've been dealing with it since about 10 weeks.
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@MrsCB: Thanks I'm sure I'll have some questions once I process it a bit more.
@Ash: Good luck on Monday!! I really hope you get better news than I did!!
honeydew / 7909 posts
@lilteacherbee: I haaaaaaate finger sticks. Monday will be lab draws like yours were today. Thanks for the luck - I need it! I pmed you.

@lilteacherbee: I'm sorry you didn't pass, but I think you were able to find more than a few positives to look forward to! Might also help explain why he has been measuring so big all along (in addition to your due date theory). Hugs!
cantaloupe / 6791 posts
@anbanan15: Yeah, I know my due date is 3-5 days off, but the past 2 ultrasounds have measured 2-3 weeks ahead, so I'm thinking that's where the GD is coming in. So frustrating, but at least there's a reason now.

@lilteacherbee: bummer about the test! Way to look on the bright side, though. @Ash: good luck!!!!
Yesterday was the first time I had an issue with my office...They are transitioning to this new computer system, so they forgot to put my appt in the system, and only had my next one in. They got me in, though, so that was great.

@lilteacherbee: I'm sorry it's been so frustrating for you! Hang in there...in the home stretch now!
@Mrs. J: Err don't you just love when stuff like that happens?! My MFM office called yesterday to reschedule our growth uultrasound for the following day because there will be no doctor in on the orginal date...how do you not know something like that?!
honeydew / 7909 posts
@Mrs. J: Thanks! I'm super nervous... and these 3 days of a carb loading diet suuuuuuuck!!!
pear / 1571 posts
@lilteacherbee: Aw, I'm so sorry! I would totally cry and be sad. No fun.
@Ash: SUCKAGE!!!!! What's the purpose of the carb-loading? So your body handles the 3-hour better, or what? I've never heard of this. Although, I'm a little jelly of all those carbs, lol. Nom, nom.
honeydew / 7909 posts
@FarmWifeGina: You can have them That's the way I took it as... I'm not a huge carb person anymore so it's actually pretty hard. Especially because most carbs are fattening... wah wah wah! I'm so nervous for Monday!
pear / 1571 posts
@Ash: Nah, I just miss bread and sandwiches. And pasta. And cake, lol.

@ms.janedoe: Thank you! 90 minutes left! Baby is NOT liking this - swimming laps like crazy!

Thanks guys I think I'm ready to put my big girl panties on and deal with it now. It's just a couple of months, I can do this!
@Ash: I'm thinking about you!! I know what you mean- mine was out of control after the drink!
honeydew / 7909 posts
@lilteacherbee: that's how I feel too... and it's all worth it in the end. Thanks mama!
