Some people suggested trying to keep the due date threads seperated so it's not so long. I thought I would try to set up a few for Nov.
When is your next appointment?

I had an annual appt yesterday and they did a confirmation test.
I have my first OB appointment and U/S on march 15 (7weeks).

I have my first OB appointment (no confirmation test) Wednesday, March 20th.
I should be a little over 6 weeks at that point (there was no "minimum" amount of weeks I needed to be, but with my schedule/their schedule, that's what worked out). SO freaking crazy...
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@ms.janedoe: Congratulations! My OB said they like to see you at 6-8 weeks so 6 weeks should be great. Do you know if you will also get an U/S?

My first appointment is March 11. I will be 5 Weeks+4 days at that point.

@Mrs. J: Woohoo!!!
@T.H.O.U.: I'm not sure...when I called she went over a bunch of "basic" questions, then said to expect a 90 minute appointment for medical history and labs...she didn't mention an U/S, but I'm not sure...hmm. She asked for my LMP date, and I told her that prrrrobably wouldn't be of much help as I was pretty sure I was on CD63. We'll see!

@Maysprout:
I was told the best time for an appointment was 6-8 weeks!

I guess I'm not getting any confirmation bloodwork done but I set up my first prenatal appointment for April 12, with the doctor I *think* I will like best in our practice (if I had picked a different doc I would have probably got in earlier).
So I should be around 10 weeks then, which seems a bit late, but hopefully that will be okay. It's only a half hour appointment and no ultrasound as far as I know, but I think they book a U/S shortly thereafter.
We wanted to tell our parents a bit earlier but I think we'll be waiting for a U/S just to make sure! It's going to take foreverrrr and I'm so impatient.

@T.H.O.U.: Whoops sorry I didn't see this thread earlier. Are you at the same OB as your last one? We just moved so I have to go someplace new.
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@Maysprout: Yes, we are at the same OB. I really liked him a lot so I was happy to see him again.
@MrsDragon: Thats great you have something on the calendar! At least you know for sure by then you will see a hearbeat. I think the only thing to be sure is if you are doing the first trimester screening it HAS to be done between 11-13 weeks (not even a day off).

@T.H.O.U.: Thank you for mentioning that! I'm writing it down and I'll bring it up at the appointment.

Just set up an appointment for March 22nd. I think I'll be around 8 weeks then and they said they'd do an ultrasound to date check. I have a nurses appointment a couple days before that to get a medical history.

Just made my first appointment! I had to get some annoying insurance stuff set up first, but I'll be meeting with a nurse midwife on April 1. I'll be almost 9 weeks at that appointment. Woo! It's starting to feel more real!

I just called to confirm mine, and it sounds like they won't be doing any heartbeat stuff at it...which I guess I kind of get, but at the same time...maaaaaan!!!
I want to wait to tell our parents until we see/hear the heartbeat, but this is killer!
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@ms.janedoe: March 20th will be here before you know it! You could always ask to see if they would do an u/s for you. I know mine likes to do a dating/size U/S between 6-8 weeks. Even though you know when you ovulated, because your LMP was SOOO long ago, they may want to check the size of the baby to give you an accurate due date.

I'm too nervous to schedule an appointment. Doesn't that sound silly? Last time I scheduled immediately, and a few days later I went through a miscarriage. I'm also considering other offices and not sure which OB to go with. So much to consider. Oye. From my experience, most offices don't like to schedule an appointment right away and prefer for you to be further along.

@yin: Just curious, why are you looking for a new OB?
@Mrs. J: Good luck at your appointment today! Can't wait to hear how it goes!

@yin: I was really nervous too to schedule an appointment. We moved so I'll be at a new place and I've heard mixed opinions, generally people seem to prefer another hospital. But the other hospital (less preferred) is just so much more convenient for proximity to our house and my husband's work. So right now we have our first appointments scheduled with the less preferred but much closer hospital and said if we are uncomfortable or really don't like what they have to say we'll switch.

Appointment went well today! We go back in 5 Weeks on the 17, and I'm excited to hear/see the baby then. I have my orders to go get my blood panels done, so I had better get on that!
pomegranate / 3160 posts
@Mrs. J: Yay! Happy to hear it went well! Rookie question...what does it mean to have "blood panels done?"
pomelo / 5132 posts
@ms.janedoe: Blood type, Rh factor, and antibody screening
Complete blood count
Rubella (German measles) immunity
Hepatitis B testing
Syphilis
HIV testing
I guess my ob just doesn't do it in office!
honeydew / 7917 posts
@T.H.O.U.: I wasn't thrilled with my OB's office when it came time for me to go into labor. My doctor was on vacation, and I expected one of the doctors from the practice to be there to at least check up on me. Their office is located inside the hospital, and I was in labor during office hours. So it just didn't make any sense to me. A doctor didn't actually come into the delivery room until 30 minutes before LO was born. I was checked in at the hospital at midnight and LO was born at 1:43 PM. I went 13 hours without a doctor seeing me, and I had been pushing for over 2 hours. It was ridiculous. I don't even know the doctor who was there at delivery. He was not part of the practice.
But... I might end up back at my OB anyways. I enjoyed her throughout my pregnancy, and she was easy to get along with. I may change my mind and switch later.
