@ms.janedoe: ugh that's so frustrating! My last period was Jan 25, but I know I didn't ovulate until Feb 24. When I called to make my appointment, it took them forever to understand that I'm not that far along.
My ultrasound is next Thursday, I can't wait!

My first appointment is next Thursday and I'll be 6w4d. They said they may or may not do a u/s and they will decide the day of. Blarg. Did anyone else have their first appointment with no u/s? I'm thinking that I'll just ask if I can have it done anyway

@ms.janedoe: You were so prepared and showed them, Glad that everything went well
I had my first appt today too and it SUCKED. I hated the doctor. It's a group practice at a big academic hospital. I work there in a different specialty, so it is convenient. But, aftert this experience, I am seriously considering looking into a private group that delivers at my hospital. Ugh. Bad bad bad. She didn't examine me or ask me any questions really - nothing about my symptoms or how I am feeling. She just had a 20 minute monologue about genetic screening and all of the tests that they do throughout pregnancy. She had 0 personality and didn't even shake my hand. If I stick with this practice and she is on call when I deliver, I will ask for the resident! Lol

@fussygal: no ultrasound at my first today (6wks, 2 days). I don't think if typically have one until 10-12 weeks. I have one scheduled in 2 weeks to date, but that's the only reason.

@fussygal: I had no ultrasound...I won't have one until 4/17.
Edit: I'll be about 11 weeks when I get mine.

I have an appointment with my midwife tomorrow... I had to beg for it but I got it. They have to confirm the pregnancy and then I'll meet with my midwife. I'm hoping I can pull something out of her that will relieve some of my concerns... betas, u/s... whatever!!

@fussygal: I hope you can get an u/s! I had one only because I was kindof a biatch to them about it because I had a MC in October and they didn't even want to see me at all until 12 weeks. Not cool with me!
@ms.janedoe: So you'll have an 8 week one? Woohoo!

@ChitownRo: Sorry to hear your first appointment went this way! It is still early, maybe you can look for a new provider that will get to know you better and spend more time talking to you?
@ms.janedoe: @fussygal: My first appointment will be on 4/17 (8 weeks) and I will not have an ultrasound either.
@ash: I hope your appointment goes well tomorrow! Looking forward to an update.

@MrsTiz: ah, so good to see!
I'm going in at 9 weeks but I'm 99% sure they will just requisition an ultrasound for me then which means I won't get it for a week or two.

@T.H.O.U.: Eeeep! How can next week feel like so far away? Hope you have good news then!

As I've already posted over on several threads where it didn't belong (HA!), my first appointment is April 3rd. I'm really, really hoping to get a dating scan at that same appointment since I have to travel almost 200 miles roundtrip for this appointment and don't want to have to make the trip again just for an u/s. Also, I'm practically clueless about the dates because of a messed up cycle, so I'd really just like to know! I'm going to an MD and I'm not sure how often I will actually see her since I am planning on a home birth (good possibility of a water birth- whoot! If I feel like being in the tub at the time, lol) and will be seeing the midwife for most of my appointments, with the MD as a backup doctor for any u/s, tests, or the Rhogam shot, none of which my midwife can order.

@Ash: yay! I made my ultrasound appointment 3 weeks out and now I only have a week left. It's actually gone by really fast!!

Anybody have any idea who I can ask to order a progesterone test? I just want to make sure if it's low, it can be fixed and my midwife said no.

We got to see the heartbeat today . The ultrasound tech was pretty brief and the machine they used couldn't print pictures so we didn;t get to see too much of baby but it seemed like everything was good.
She didn't give us much info, I have a appointment on Tuesday with the OB so the ultrasound lady said the OB would go over the info. She said it was giving her a late Oct due date, but she wouldn't specify the date, but she thought baby was around 8 weeks or so.

@Maysprout: That is so exciting! Glad everything went well for you! I won't have my first u/s until 12 weeks which seems like an eternity!

@Cara M. 17: nope! Today I just met with my midwife to talk and see if she would do something for reassurance. My next appt will be an u/s and history.

@Ash: That's great! I hope you got the reassurance you were looking for.

Heading in on Friday afternoon for my first ultrasound! Totally FREAKING out about it... I'm excited, don't get me wrong, just paranoid! We told my parents over the weekend, which was super fun to do (after talking, we decided that if something was wrong come Friday (gawd-forbid), we'd still want some support from them and want them to know regardless); they're beyond excited (albeit a little freaked out at the thought of being (gasp!) grandparents)!
Anyway, totally can't wait for Friday!!!

@ms.janedoe: yay! So exciting! We don't have ours until the 17th. Going for blood panels today

@ms.janedoe: woohoo! My first ultrasound is Thursday and I'm excited/terrified. The last time I had an ultrasound, it turned out to be the worst day of my life (when we found out about the missed miscarriage). I'm hoping this one will be happy, but I'm so scared.

@T.H.O.U.: I'm so so sorry. Unfortunately, I've been through it before... Let me know if you ever want to talk, I'm always here.

@ms.janedoe: I probably won't be online tomorrow so I'm just sending good thoughts your way for Friday! Eeeeeeeeee!! :))

So, at one week to go until my first appointment, the doctor herself returned my call to her nurse's line and we talked about my messed up cycle and she agreed that a dating scan would be a good idea and is going to schedule one for the same day as my appointment. Which makes me VERY happy because I'm driving 95 miles one way for this appointment and I would really rather not get there only to see a nurse and do intake and burn all that fuel to make a second trip only a few days later for a dating scan. YAY!
