@FarmWifeGina: It seemed like the week draggggged on last week while I was waiting for my appointment. I feel your pain!

So I've already had my first u/s and now I'm already anxious for the next one (in 3 weeks!). I'm off work this week for spring break so I feel like time is going by so slowly. Oh well, at least I get to relax!

@lilteacherbee: Thankfully I have plenty to keep my busy- besides the regular stuff of life, getting ready for a big trip to town is a big deal in my OCD world, lol, so I have a huge, huge shopping list to make, finalize my budget, etc. The problem is that I can't concentrate on any of it!

Ugh, I'm so disappointed today, ladies. I was supposed to have my first appointment but they called and canceled it this morning! Now I can't get in until next Wednesday, April 10, and the midwife I wanted to meet with wasn't available. Grrrrr. I'll be 10 weeks that day. I understand that these things happen, but it's been a rough week (my grandfather passed away last week) and I was so looking forward to this appointment.

    Rant over.

@FarmWifeGina: Thats how I felt because I had no clue what my EDD would be and needed to know. My midwife just ran an hCG and did an ultrasound before even seeing me. I actually won't see her until the end of the month!

@DigAPony: Oh that is such a bummer! If it makes you feel any better my office doesn't typically see you before 10 weeks, which seems like forever! I'm sorry for your loss.

!!!! Ah! So freaking exciting! I don't HB for one day and everyone has ultrasounds to share! Yeee!!

@ms.janedoe: We are now offically due date twins

@lilteacherbee: Your doctor is so sweet! My BMP was 124 at 6 weeks and they didn't say weather it was good or not, so that's reassuring!

@MrsDragon: :)! So happy to hear a strong heartbeat! Woohoo!

@lilteacherbee: 3 weeks until your next u/s - that must feel like forever! I'm glad you have a week of spring break to help chop up the wait time

@FarmWifeGina: keeping yourself busy is smart - your next appointment will be here before you know it!

@DigAPony: I'm sorry to hear about your grandfather. Hugs! Schedule something nice for yourself to help break up the time you have to wait until 4/10.

@sweetooth: Ugh, I know. Yesterday my milk cow decided to change my plans and occupy my afternoon with her birthing, so now I'm freaking out today because I have so much to do before tomorrow, I'll probably be up late with everything and I need to leave the house with the kids at 6:30 a.m. MDT to make my 10:00 a.m. CDT appointment. AH!

So, I've been having some very light spotting and called my midwife again today. At 4w3d it was brown mucousy after using the bathroom (sorry if TMI). Then this weekend at 6w I had the tiniest bit of tan discharge in the AM and the same again today.

Since this has now happened more than once she is sending me for an ultrasound at the perinatal center tomorrow. She said she really and truly doesn't think anything is wrong and it is more for my peace of mind and hers, but I can't help but be anxious.

I will be 6w5d tomorrow so she said they should be able to see a heartbeat. They'll also be looking to make sure I don't have a cyst or blighted ovum She thinks it is most likely to be a small capillary.

If you ladies could please cross your fingers and say a prayer for me and baby I would really appreciate it.

Ugh just heard from my midwife and the perinatal center won't see me yet bc it's too early and my bleeding isn't bad. Now I am going for an appointment with my midwife on Friday.

@Cara M. 17: I really don't understand why the offices won't do ultrasounds for peace of mind. I had that problem too. I'm sorry you're going through this. Prayers headed your way for you and baby.

@Ash: me neither. The hospital said bc I haven't had my initial appointment with the midwives and bc I'm not 8 weeks and not experiencing heavy bleeding they won't see me. I can go on the 16th, which will be 8w3d.

@Cara M. 17: That's awful! I would be so mad if that happened to me. Even if there's nothing you can do, it's just awful to sit around and wait, wondering if something's wrong when they could easily put your mind at rest.

    Is the bleeding still brown?

    clementine / 825 posts

@MrsCB: I know, it's torturous. My midwife emphasized again that she really didn't think anything is wrong and my symptoms are normal. She is also reassured by the other pregnancy symptoms I have, but it doesn't make me feel much better. It's actually really light brown, more tan. It happened first thing this morning, and then stopped.

@Cara M. 17: Hugs! Sorry that they couldn't get you in today, I agree with everyone else that peace of mind is so important. At least you do have your midwife to help talk you through it, someone that will listen and validate what you're experiencing right now. I'm thinking good thoughts for you and your baby...

I'm waiting to be called back at the doctor's office right now. Eek! Glad that I made it kind of in time. Suddenly I'm so nervous! I've never had a primary prenatal appointment with a doctor before, always home birth midwives, so yeah.

@MrsTiz: It went well. Was in there almost 2 hours. I really liked the doctor and feel good about having her as backup, or even as primary if I change my mind about the home birth plan. She gave me lots of time and we talked a lot. No heartbeat to hear yet, but my uterus is almost the size of a grapefruit--12 week size--but I measured really far ahead with my first pregnancy too, so I'm not counting on anything until the ultrasound this afternoon. Getting my Target fix now!

I'm super anxious right now. Diagnostic imaging just called me to 'remind' me of the ultrasound I didn't know I had booked tomorrow. She said it might have just been booked and I was too flabbergasted to ask who requisitioned it. I haven't even had my first prenatal appointment yet so I'm worst case scenario-ing that the walk-in doctor reviewed last week's ultrasound and saw something off.

    clementine / 825 posts

@MrsDragon: Aww try to stay calm, it may have been an error or maybe standard procedure? Are you going to a new doctor?

  36. mrsmacandcheese

    blogger / clementine / 985 posts

@Cara M. 17: my first prenatal appointment is next Friday with a doctor I've never seen. Last week I had a walk in appointment with a different doc at the clinic to get nausea meds, and she referred me for an ultrasound when I mentioned side pains. So I have no idea if she asked for another one or if my doctor I have yet to meet with set one up.

  37. Cara M. 17

    clementine / 825 posts

@MrsDragon: That's right, I remember you saying that. I don't think they would send you for another us so soon without talking to you first? Seems like a mistake or an oversight to me.

@MrsDragon: I had something similar with my first pregnancy. I was having bad side pains at like 5 weeks when I went in for my consult and so dr sent me for an ultrasound. Even though it was early and we couldn't see much they could tell it wasn't ectopic. But they did schedule another follow up scan for like 7 weeks. Hope that helps. I wouldn't worry about it

@Cara M. 17: Yeah, I have no idea what's up. My husband thinks maybe they accidentally booked me after my same-day requisition. I'm going to ask the tech if they can tell me who booked it and why.
@T.H.O.U.: its so weird to me that they booked it without telling me! I hope it's a normal followup.

Here is my Cricket. According to the ultrasound, I am exactly 7 weeks today, with an official EDD of November 20th. I swear the ultrasound tech has never been pregnant because when I asked if she could tell when I had conceived, she said, uh, 7 weeks ago! Then I tried to explain the whole LMP thing and how you're considered pregnant for 2 weeks before you even conceive and she just made me more confused. It was a really fast ultrasound and I'm bummed because I forgot to ask specifically if we could see a heartbeat and she was going too fast and didn't stop long enough for me to see. Bummer. Especially when I've already seen other, even earlier ultrasounds on here with heartbeats. Boo. So now I'm reminding myself that my body has grown two other babies just fine without seeing heartbeats at 7 weeks (didn't have early ultrasounds with them) and as long as I'm feeling good, there's no reason to believe it won't do just fine a 3rd time. Right?
