@anbanan15: Yeah, there's another doctor my midwife practice works with. Also, I live in the Boston area where there are tons and tons of doctors of every type, so I'm not too worried.

@MrsCB: Oh that is great! Even if you don't change endo's I think at this point it would be so worth a second opinion, even if you don't decide to change in the end. You haven't been happy with her since the beginning, correct? You owe it to yourself and that little peanut to see if what she is telling you jives with another doctors advice. If not for anything but your own peace of mind.

@anbanan15: Yeah, I didn't like her at all at our first appointment, but I brushed it off. And then I started hearing from people here that they were still on Metformin and after I did some research, I was kind of annoyed because she told me there had been no studies on it, and there have.

I'm a little worried about the other doctor, because even though I see a midwife they don't seem to be the most progressive practice out there, and this is someone they choose to work with. But even one of the midwives was like "well I know other practices continue use of metformin, and if that's what you want to do, it's your choice."

@MrsCB: holy crap! I would be so upset! How rude is she?!

I have my "one hour" test tomorrow morning and I have no clue what it is, what I need to do to prepare for it, anything. They just said "be here at 9 for your one hour test!" and rushed me out..

@MrsTiz: Try not to eat a sugary or carby breakfast, since it could mess things up. Best off eating some cheese sticks or eggs. They give you a really sweet gross drink and you have to drink it all in 5 minutes, and then they take your blood sugar 60 minutes after you started. Bring something to read!

@MrsCB: That is absolutely awful and unprofessional of her. I'd be seeking a second opinion. You have to do what's best for you and your nugget. And p.s. you're beautiful so tell her to shut her face

    grapefruit / 4681 posts

@MrsCB: Err I just hear your frustration all over these posts about your GD diagnosis. I'm so sorry.

@MrsTiz: You don't need to do anything really. Just show up at 9, they will give you a drink of something yummy. Down it as quick as possible and then go chill for 1 hour. They take your blood work after you marinated and send you on your way. Have fun!

@Ash: Aww, thanks. For once I've actually been pretty happy with how I look, so her comment was like a slap in the face.

@MrsCB: @anbanan15: okay that's all I needed to know, I don't have to not eat, just don't eat sugar. Download a book and chill. thanks!

@MrsCB: Yeah, I'd think so too - I don't like her. Just sayin'.

@MrsCB: Wow - I would want to punch her in the face so hard! I think you look great - I've actually noticed that you're shrinking while the rest of us are growing I have only seen a few pictures of you on the bump thread but you really do look great! I hope you're able to find another doctor.

@MrsCB: Oh my gosh, that's just plain awful and do unprofessional! I hope you can see someone else that will listen to you and respect your choices! If she didn't want you to stay on Metformin, what DID she want you to do??? And your weight is so great, I'm stinkin' jealous! She's full of hot air!

@MrsCB: Ugggggh, sorry, lady. I totally agree with switching who you're seeing. Not cool at all.

@MrsTiz: Good luck tomorrow! I go in next Friday (the 16th) for mine!

@MrsCB: This is so upsetting to me and just plain unacceptable from a healthcare professional! Perhaps you can express your concerns to your midwife since she's your primary care at this point and see if she has recommendations for another endo? Good for you for doing your research and being your own advocate!

    @MrsTiz: Good luck!!!

@MrsCB: gah I would be so upset too!! I would def try to switch. Sorry you had to deal with that

@MrsTiz: Good luck! Mine is in 3 weeks and I'm kinda nervous because he's measuring bigger, which can be a sign of GD.

I have both a boring appointment and a growth ultrasound tomorrow! Super excited to see him again!!

My next boring appointment isn't until Aug 22 and then I have an ultrasound Sept 16 to check growth...that's another 6 weeks! Wow I can't believe that means we only found out the gender 6 weeks ago! Seems like forever!

  18. MrsTiz

    cantaloupe / 6800 posts

I took my sugar test today and passed! They said my iron was low though, so I have to take an iron pill every day now.

I'm on every 2 week appointments now though and they told me to register with the hospital so they can send my records over, eep! I am mailing it out today! - Are we really that close!?!?!

SO, next appointment for me is going to be August 23, my 29 week appointment and we're getting a 3D ultrasound done! I'm so freaking excited to see our little guy!

@lilteacherbee: How's your little guy doing? Did your appointment go well today?

@anbanan15: I agree, it does feel like forever ago that we found out the gender!

@MrsTiz: Congrats on passing the glucose test! And wow - already at the 2 week appointments! I almost can't believe we're getting so close!

I have a follow-up ultrasound this Friday to check-in on some of the "red flags" they had during my anatomy scan 6 weeks ago. I'm looking forward to seeing our little guy, and hopefully not hearing any more worrisome remarks. My last OB appointment really put my mind at ease, and the movement I've been feeling makes me feel positive too.

Then next week I have a regular OB appointment. I put it off a week so I could hopefully have any of the remarks from this Friday's ultrasound all sent to the OB for review.

I also signed my husband and I up for a childbirth education class that's next Saturday 8/17. Crazy!

@MrsTiz: Wow you got the results crazy fast! Yay for no 3 hour test

My office has you register with the hospital at your very first appointment! Crazy to think about then! I will start bi-weekly appointments after my next one at the end of August. It's insane to think we are already at that point and it won't be long before we are at weekly ones!

@sweetooth: I was wondering if you were feeling movement by now! Glad to hear you are. I hope you get a good report on Friday and your appointment next week will be a breeze. Have fun at your birthing class!! I hope you find it informative. Unfortunately DH and I found our 1 day class not to be, but it was the only option that fit into his schedule.

@sweetooth: We have a couples childbirth class that starts on Monday! So 4 weeks of that, then the day after our last class we take a breastfeeding class. I must tell DH everyday "it's so close, we're getting so close!!" hah

@sweetooth: Hope your appointment goes well. We had to schedule a few more appointments too after our anatomy scan too but so far so good and it sounds like your OB is really positive.

@sweetooth: Appointment #1 went well! I've gained 15 pounds so far, which I'm happy with. Scheduled my next appointment which will be the glucose test for August 23.

Now I'm just waiting at MFM for the ultrasound. I have a feeling he's going to be active because he was kicking the doppler like crazy when they checked his heartbeat.

@MrsTiz: Yay for passing your test!!!!

Ultrasound was good!! Nathan is still measuring big (of course) at 2 lb 5 oz and 1-2 weeks ahead. Even though I'm scheduled in 2 weeks for the glucose test, they went ahead and did a quick check today. I had eaten about an hour before- strawberries, half of DH's chicken sandwich, and 2 cookies. So plenty of sugar. They said they like it to be under 140 an hour after eating and mine was 126. So I felt pretty relieved about that. Honestly, I was expecting like over 200 because they've freaked me out about it. Every single time I have an ultrasound, they ask if I've done the GD test yet because he measures large. So I still have to wait for the official test, but today's results were pretty promising.

I also had to get blood drawn again for the antibody, but so far it's been too low to worry about, so hoping that's the case again.

So glucose test is August 23 and I have another growth ultrasound on September 5!

    Aaaand a picture!

@lilteacherbee: Glad to hear both of your appointments went well and that the preliminary glucose check today was good. It's so crazy to see that lifelike picture!

@anbanan15: I don't know how helpful the 1-day class will be, but I'm hoping it at least informs us of the basics. I feel like so much information is available online, but it will be nice if we have questions to be able to ask a certified RN in person. And yes - the movements have been happening pretty regularly now and at times, pretty strong!

@MrsTiz: Wow, a 4-week class - are there individual topics covered each week? You will be so well-informed!

@Maysprout: Glad to hear that things are good so far for you! Yeah, my OB said that the doctor at the perinatal clinic where I get my ultrasounds is a very thorough doctor. And that the concerns raised were good to observe, but she doesn't seem them being a problem.

@lilteacherbee: how many weeks are you? Caroline was 2.5 lbs yesterday too-- ultrasound tech said she's big for her "age" but they weren't too worried. I also have borderline high fluid (it's "23" they said "24" is what they'd consider high) but it isn't something to worry about too much at this stage.

I go in for both my Glucose test and RhoGam shot next Thursday at 28 weeks so that's 2 things that can cause higher fluid taken care of!

PS your photo is much clearer then mine! I am JEALOUS!

  28. lilteacherbee

    cantaloupe / 6791 posts

@Mrs. Pink: I'm 25 weeks! He was 1lb 4 oz at my last ultrasound 4 weeks ago, so he's gained a pound. He's always measured ahead though.

@MrsTiz: Yay for passing! I'm getting nervous for mine!!

@lilteacherbee: Yay for a great appt! I think Nathan looks like his mama!

@sweetooth: The difference between a 1 day class and a 4 week class (where I work) is just that the 4 hour classes are shorter but they cover the same info. So don't feel like you'll be missing out.

I talked about classes on the November Mamas thread... I didn't add much though.

ETA: I have an appointment on Friday and then I'll schedule my glucose test for 2-3 weeks. Then onto every 2 week appts. Oh myyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@Ash: Thanks! that makes sense, it is a 4-hour class. I hope you're able to do some sort of class with your husband too. And isn't it crazy that the every 2 week appointment intervals are so close?!

  32. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@sweetooth: I went to a class when I was working on a slow day... and the instructor had the dads get on the floor and push through contractions - I NEED to go to that class so I can watch DH push. Hahahaha! & I can't believe how fast it's going. It kind of makes me sad!!!

  33. FarmWifeGina

@Mrs. Pink: Wait- being Rh negative can make you have high fluid levels?

  34. lilteacherbee

    cantaloupe / 6791 posts

@Ash: haha my sister said the same thing I can't wait to see what he'll look like in November!

I checked out classes last night and our OB offers them once you get to 30 weeks, so we'll be doing them next month! Eeeeek can't believe it's that time already!!

@MrsTiz: Hell yeah for passing!!! Whew! And dude, seriously, 2 week appointments already are nuts, cannot believe we're getting so close. As of tomorrow I'm THREE MONTHS AWAY FROM MY DUE DATE. ;aslkjdf;asldfja;lsfkjd.

@lilteacherbee: Awesome ultrasound!!! I'm jealous, I don't think I get another one! Also, that's kick-ass news about your surprise glucose test.

@ms.janedoe: You might get another! My midwife said they do a quick one a 30 weeks to verify baby's position.

    cantaloupe / 6800 posts

@sweetooth: Yep! It's from 6:30 to 9 every Monday..we had that option or 1 all day (8 hour) class. DH and I agreed we would benefit more from it being broken up so we could process what happened each class before learning new things lol!
