    @NeekieRose: Happy to hear you had a good ultrasound! And yay for long-legged girls! (I'm a member of that club

    I agree with you on the 3D ultrasounds. I'm more a fan of the traditional ultrasound images.

    @FarmWifeGina: @sweetooth: best.day.of.my.life!

    I've been really crazy busy since Friday's appt but just wanted to give a few details from the u/s...
    I have an anterior placenta (I KNEW IT!!)
    Heart rate was 147.
    Baby was sleeping with his/her arm on the forehead, just like DH sleeps every night.
    All the things I was worried about are absolutely perfect... including baby!

    I can't wait to meet our little turkey!!

    @Ash: Yay! Great appointment!

    ETA: I think the majority of us have anterior placentas?! Either that or it's been mentioned a lot hehe

  10. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

    @anbanan15: I think there is a good chunk of us with them!

    They told me baby is breech which I figure is no big deal at 21 weeks. Wouldn't that be expected so early?

    So funny thing (not really)... baby is measuring way bigger than I expected using my dates. Baby is right on track with their "ovulate on cd14" measurements and not with my "I o'd on cd20" dates. It just boggles my brain...

    @Ash: So glad your appointment went well!!! Baby M is head up at the moment also but the perinatologist didn't have any concerns since it's so early.

  12. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

    @Cara M. 17: Thanks! That's what I thought too. They said they will do another u/s at 30 weeks to check again. I think after the great appt, I can finally let go of some of the stress!!

    @Ash: Yes relax and enjoy I have another ultrasound scheduled for 26 weeks also.

  14. lilteacherbee

    cantaloupe / 6791 posts

    @Ash: yay, I'm glad everything looks good!! I can tell when baby is head up/down because when he's head up, I can feel kicks way down low. When he's flipped, I don't feel him that much because of my anterior placenta.

    I had a boring appointment this morning. I'm up 13 pounds. I go back again in 3 weeks. I scheduled it for the same day as my next MFM appointment (ultrasound) so I can just do it all in one day. So that will be August 6. The MFM office also called and said my antibody results (that I have tested every 4 weeks) came back super low again, so that's good!

    Had my second appointment with my midwife today and I really think I'm really, really gonna love her. She goes over things in so much detail and I love it! Once again, I'm healthy as a horse- she uses a urine test strip that tests for, like, 10 different things and every single thing was perfect. YAY! My iron is *slightly* low (like, most care providers wouldn't even mention it or consider it low, but since I'm going for a home birth and low iron is linked to heavier postpartum bleeding or even hemorrhage, it's something to be aware of) and she'd like me to work on getting it back up. Unsulphured blackstrap molasses, here I come! Oh, and she said I should try kale too, which is maturing in our garden right now- sweet!
    And I have a feeling that I'm carrying a very contrary little baby! First hiding the goods from us on the u/s and today Cricket kept moving so the midwife kept losing the heartbeat- and then hid entirely when she went to let me have a listen (she uses a fetascope, so each person has to put it in their ears to listen individually, unlike a Doppler with a speaker). Silly Cricket! But s/he was moving the whole time and the midwife heard what she needed to hear, so it wasn't anything to worry about. Anyways, but yay for a good "boring" appointment!

    @lilteacherbee: yay for good news with the antibody results and for being able to have appointments all in one day!

    @FarmWifeGina: Your little baby's personality is already making an appearance I love Kale - I usually just chop it and add a tasty green goddess salad dressing to it. And yes, yay for a good "boring" appointment!

    @Ash: Yay for a great ultrasound!
    @lilteacherbee: good "boring" appointments are always a good thing
    @FarmWifeGina: I'm glad you like your midwife! I have to meet the last one at our office, and then I will pick one of the 4.

    I've got another appointment on Wednesday to check my white blood cell count again. I guess all my appointments this week were equal to my 24 week appt. The baby is doing well, heartbeat is great and lots of movement. I've gained 16lbs (OMG) so they told me not to worry about it, but to try and eat healthy.

  19. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

    @FarmWifeGina: Such great news!

    @lilteacherbee: Yay for low antibodies!

    @MrsTiz: I hope you started feeling better! 16lbs doesn't seem bad!!

    cantaloupe / 6800 posts

    @Ash: I don't feel any better, which is fine because i'm not in any real pain or discomfort but now i'm just annoyed that they don't know what the deal is! Thanks for thinking of me!

  21. Ash

    @MrsTiz: That would definitely be frustrating!

    @FarmWifeGina: I'm not ready yet either! I felt like crap in the 1st tri, and I feel invincible in the 2nd tri. I don't even want to think about what the 3rd tri will bring! Not yet!

    I'm really excited for the third trimester, that much closer to baby making her appearance! Also, I'm ready to look undoubtedly pregnant.

    Two weeks to go until the third trimester for me....

    I'm super excited for the third tri! That means it's almost baby time!! When does it start officially? 27?

  28. FarmWifeGina

    pear / 1571 posts

    @MrsTiz: 28, I think. I can't wait for my squishy, but right now I'm exhausted and I am appreciating the fact that they are so much easier to care for while they're still inside.

  29. anbanan15

    grapefruit / 4681 posts

    @MrsTiz: I keep seeing conflicting info. 27/28 depending where you look.

    Same thing with 22 weeks being 6 mo or still 5 mo. I was looking for a week-month chart and one was so different from the others...so confusing haha, but I am following the 5-4-4 scheule per tri or just going by weeks.

  30. MrsTiz

    cantaloupe / 6800 posts

    @anbanan15: I have been using this chart, it says 27 weeks for 3rd tri

  31. anbanan15

    grapefruit / 4681 posts

    @MrsTiz: That is the breakdown I see more often and makes sense to me. I also saw this chart and it baffles me a little...According to this one 22 weeks is way back at the start of 5 months. Me no like!

  32. MrsTiz

    cantaloupe / 6800 posts

    @anbanan15: I like mine better lol!

  33. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

    @anbanan15: @MrsTiz: Thankfully, I just go by weeks and it makes it much easier but I've aways heard 28 weeks is the start of the 3rd tri. How conflicting! Geeeez

  34. FarmWifeGina

    pear / 1571 posts

    @anbanan15: @MrsTiz: I just go by the date of my LMP. LMP was supposedly February 20th, so today is July 20th and I am 5 months pregnant. So I'll be 6 months on August 20th...which would make me a day short of 27 weeks, according to the calendar, and 6 months and after us the third tri, right? So maybe the beginning of the third tri IS at 27 weeks, lol. Still, TOO FAST!!!

  35. Mrs. J

    pomelo / 5132 posts

    @Ash: I heard 28 too.

  36. NeekieRose

    @anbanan15: The fact that that chart goest to 42 weeks scares me.

    I was confused about the whole trimester thing and when they start and stop. I found this website that seemed to explain the 3 ways trimesters are calculated. I am going with 27 weeks (13 days away for me!)

    from the website (http://www.baby2see.com/trimester_calculator.html):

    There are basically three ways of dividing up a pregnancy into the three trimesters; they are by:
    Development, Gestation, Conception. They give different dates for when the second trimester begins and for when the third trimester begins. Your health care provider might prefer to use the Development method, while another Midwife or Doctor may use the Gestation method.

    by Development:
    This uses actual developmental stages to divide up a pregnancy. From LMP to 12 weeks the embryo develops all the major organs and becomes a fetus. From 12 weeks to 27 weeks the fetus continues developing and reaches viability. From 27 weeks on the fetus finishes development and prepares for delivery. Here the second trimester begins at 12w 0d and the third at 27w 0d.

    by Gestation:
    With this method you take the 40 weeks of gestation and divide into three equal stages. Here the second trimester begins at 13w 3d and the third at 26w 6d.

    by Conception:
    This method is where you take the 38 weeks of post conception development, divide by three, into the three equal trimesters. Here the second trimester begins at 14w 5d and the third at 27w 3d.

    @NeekieRose: @anbanan15: @MrsTiz: I calculate by gestation, so I consider 26w6d to be the start of the 3rd tri. As far as months go, I feel like you can either call it by the month you're in (I'm 22 weeks and this is my 6th month of pregnancy) or you can call it by what you've completed, so I've completed 5 months. Kind of like birthdays - you don't say the baby's 1 until after he's completed a year.

    DH actually asked me this morning what month we were in so I was trying to explain to him, lol.

    @MrsCB: Right now at 24 weeks I say i'm 6.5 months, so now I feel like thats wrong lol
