@Mrs. J: How fun to see your baby in action! Glad to hear it went well. I can't wait to see our baby tomorrow!

We're having a boy! It was quite an eventful appointment with an insanely LONG wait in the waiting room, a power outage at the hospital due to the storms rolling through the area, and additional bloodwork because of some the doctor concerns. I'm trying to just stay positive. I go back in 6 weeks for another ultrasound and get the bloodwork results in 10 days. I always knew this process wouldn't get any easier once we got pregnant, but sometimes it really tests my limits of positivity. I thought the infertility journey was tough...it was only the tip of the iceberg.

@sweetooth: yay!! Welcome to Team Blue!!!

I totally hear you about the positivity. We've had some issues during this pregnancy as well. After 13 months of TTC and a m/c, it's so hard to believe everything will work out, but I'm trying!! You'll be in my thoughts and prayers!

@lilteacherbee: Thank you! Can you believe how many little boys there are for November? Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. You're also in my thoughts.

@Ash: I hope so too. Just more testing to rule things out and some more monitoring. I'm trying to just take deep breaths and talk to my baby boy about how much we already love him and can't wait to meet him. Thank you!

@anbanan15: Thank you so much! You're doing a great job too!

Well, I had my 22 week appointment today--just a regular "boring" appointment. Still so exciting to hear baby's heartbeat on the doppler. I have another appt at 26 weeks, then after that I'll have them every two weeks until the end. I know that we still have a long way to go, but sometimes it seems like it's really not that long! Crazy!

So Nathan is looking good other than being HUGE. He weighs 1 lb 4 oz (95th percentile for THEIR due date...) Each body part they measured was between 22-23 weeks, but they have me at 20w6d. I finally got them to consider changing it based on the ultrasound results from the 8 wk ultrasound, so they're getting those records from the hospital. They kinda freaked me out about gestational diabetes since those babies are normally big. I should have the test in a month or so. They say he's active and the heart (which they didn't get all the measurements from at the anatomy scan) was perfect.

They're scheduling another growth scan in 4 weeks (August 6), just to check that he's not getting crazy big or anything. I should hear back about the due date today. I'd just rather not be unnecessarily freaked out if he's just been developing a week ahead this whole time like I've tried to tell them.

And some pics! Both my grandfather that passed away in April and I have a family trait of big pouty lips. I'm thinking Nathan got them too!

@lilteacherbee: he does have big lips! That second picture is so cool! Glad everything went well, even if he is a giant

@lilteacherbee: Hey there cute little baby profile Isn't it hard when they tell you about certain things, related to your current results - like the gestational diabetes thing? I think you're just measuring ahead of your EDD. Thanks for sharing your cute pictures!

@lilteacherbee: Great update! I'm glad you were able to get them to finally consider listening to you and at least examine the possibility that they were wrong on the dates. I totally understand not wanting to unnecessarily worry, but at least you are getting all those extra looks at him!

I had a regular boring appointment today, but it went well. My BP had been high before, but today was great. Baby's heartbeat was great too. My midwife also wasn't concerned that I'm continuing to lose weight, she said she was actually happy to see it because it means I'm watching my diet. According to their scale I'm down 20 now. Still seems so weird, though.

@Ash: Well I definitely don't look like it! I feel like I look like I've gained about 25 all in my stomach area. I keep wondering where it's coming off from, lol.

  28. FarmWifeGina

    pear / 1571 posts

@MrsCB: That's awesome! I tend to think it's the HCG in your system- you're eating right and your body is taking whatever else you need from your excess fat stores. Of course, the HCG diet was how I lost my 75 lbs., so I would tend to think this way, lol. Anyways, that's just plain amazing!
I, on the other hand, have gained 12 lbs. Although, I seem to be holding steady for the last month or so, so that makes me happy-ish. Better than I did with the pregnancy where I gained 80+ lbs. Oy.

@MrsCB: Glad to hear your OB appointment went well. And as for the weight loss - as long as you feel good and that baby is doing well, keep doing what you're doing

I had another OB appointment today. They made me feel a lot more at ease with some of the concerns raised at my ultrasound at the end of June. I'm still waiting on some blood test results, but I feel more positive about it all today. And the doctor said my weight gain is on target and once again I got all teary-eyed when I heard the baby's heartbeat. It never gets old!

Yay! The good news keeps coming today! I just got a call from the perinatal clinic where I had my ultrasound. I had another blood test a week and a half ago to rule out any more genetic issues and they just called with the results. The blood test shows that everything is normal! You hear that little guy in my belly - you're all good And now, so is your momma BIG sigh of relief...

@Ash: Haha...you're so excited! And rightfully so! I hope the hours between now and then fly by.

I had another ultrasound this morning. Got some great news that my placenta has moved up; it was too close to the cervix 4 weeks ago. Baby girl is looking great; although she is measuring about a week ahead! And she gained a full pound in the past 4 weeks. Hopefully she doesn't end up gigantic, I don't know how I would handle that. DH is pretty tall and it appears she has already inherited his long legs.

They switched over to the 3D ultrasound briefly. It was weird, I think I prefer the normal. DH said she looked like spilled coffee. Ha.

@NeekieRose: I am super dee duper excited! Been waiting for this day since our 9w u/s!

Yay for a good appt! My mom says the same thing about 3d ultrasounds. Hahah!

    @Ash: Good luck today!

@NeekieRose: We feel the same way about 3D! We didn't have any with DS, but since my ultrasounds are at MFM this time they switched to a 3D for parts of it. DH said "she better not look like that". Ha
