@wrkbrk: I've been feeling some movement for the past couple weeks (which surprised me since I felt NOTHING with DS until around 21-21.5 weeks). The problem with feeling movement early is its not consistent since they're so small so I start worrying when its been awhile since I felt her move. I'm sure your time is coming soon!

@clover: I'm very lucky that my husband and I agreed on names! Now I'm just worried that when the baby is born, the name won't fit!

ohhh man, just when I thought the nausea was fading and I was feeling good... I got hit with a massive wave of nausea as I got out of the car at the shopping center car park. I spewed on the ground hiding behind the car, managed to get my spew bag out of my handbag and just heaved like an animal. SO SO BAD.

@clover: Same here. I was feeling little movements a lot last week, but not too much this week. I was so worried until my appointment on Monday where everything is fine.
@FannyMae: Ugh, I'm so sorry that you are still so sick. Hoping that this was the last time for you!
I'm stuck in the waiting room of the hospital lab getting a 3 hour glucose test done. Since I had GD last time, I have to take it now at 17 weeks and then again at 24-26. Yay!

no idea what came over me, I was a wreck the rest of the day. thankfully my MIL took LO for playtime with her cousins today, so I'm trying to clean the house room by room (with long breaks in between, hence sitting on the computer).
@JennyG: all the best on the GD test, sucks you gotta do the dang thing twice hated it so much.

@FannyMae: ugh, so sorry! How many weeks are you now? I'm in my 18th week, and I'm feeling a little more nauseated this week than I was in weeks 16 or 17. Growth spurt? Hormone surge? Bleh.
persimmon / 1461 posts
@sometimesshesings: I'll be 17 weeks tomorrow, and I also thought that this has got to be a hormone/growth spurt. I've been so-so today, just trying to keep my tummy full and have taken half a tablet this morning. I can feel bubby moving in there more and more, so i'm feeling that growth has gotta be happening

@FannyMae: hang in there! You're not alone in getting sick into the second trimester! I'm still taking half a Unisom tablet every morning. Every time I try to wean myself off, I end up losing my dinner by day 2. I'm hoping to be nausea-free by week 20!

hi all, sorry i've been MIA it's just insane over here with A just turning one and becoming a little climber. she is all over the place and i am just EXHAUSTED!! still trying to figure out how i'll be able to do it all..
but baby is doing great and i am feeling back to myself after the cerclage surgery. i'm now getting weekly progesterone shots and i get ultrasounds every other week. 19 weeks yesterday and it feels like it's going so so fast! nausea still there occasionally and so many foods are grossing me out. i have cravings like a 5 year old - chicken nuggets, pudding, oreos, mac and cheese..
@clover: i've been feeling the same with movement. early this week i was feeling a lot and last night and today i don't feel anything. i LOVE feeling him move, but i hate the inconsistency this early on.

@peaches1038: Eliza is a name we are considering for a middle. It's a variant of my name and what DH calls me when he is trying to be a smarty. I've actually never heard of someone with that name until last semester when there was a girl in my class with it.
@sometimesshesings: @FannyMae: N&V here too. I felt good for maybe 1-2 weeks and now N&V is back with the added bonus of getting sick the other way as well. I have no appetite either, but am thirsty all the time. I'm 17 weeks today.
No movement here yet. I had an AP with my first two so felt movement very late (hardly at all with my first. My second was transverse/breech until the very end and I think that helped with being able to feel movement with an AP). It was noted on my 12 week ultrasound that the pacenta was developing posterior and baby was crazy with movements, so I am expecting to feel them much earlier this time. My next appointment is 6/29 and my anatomy scan at MFM is 6/30, but I may have to reschedule Praying some stuff works out and I don't! I wanna know what baby is!

@littleredhairedgrl: so great to hear that the surgery and shots have been helping you. I'm still eating kid foods too, fries pretty much keep me going when I'm hungry/don't feel like anything else
@anbanan15: I hear you on the thirst, I feel like I could drink glass after glass of water, but then it makes me feel so yuk afterwards.
TMI WARNING - ok, soooo anyone else being hit with varicose veins yet? *down there* I had one with DD near perineum, which at the time freaked me out thinking what if I tear/need episiotomy. Yesterday I was having a shower and washing and felt "a bulge" and went AAARRRGHHH!!! I have (had?) a varicose vein but this time on my labia. It seemed to go down by bed time, but my gosh did it scare the crap outta me. I have a feeling we will be meeting again soon
nectarine / 2047 posts
@JennyG: Ugh. I am not looking forward the the glucose test. Did you get your results yet?
@anbanan15: I just love the name so much. I think it's feminine but strong. I also like that it's not as common. It would be pretty for a middle!
@FannyMae: that sounds awful!!! Did they resolve fully after your first baby?
I had a midwife appointment today. Heard the heartbeat again, still in the low 150s!! I haven't gained any weight yet. My midwife didn't seem concerned and I'm definitely getting a belly, but I thought I would've gained something by now. I'm 5'9" and 145. Anyone have any experience with this?

@peaches1038: I did. I passed. The doctor's office called to check on me late yesterday afternoon after getting my final number. It was a scary low of 52. I did feel pretty terrible until I ate and took a nap.
@FannyMae: Thanks! I passed this time around. I'll do it again at 26ish weeks.
@peaches1038: I wish I hadn't gained any weight yet. I haven't gained that much compared to my last pregnancy, but still I'm already up 10ish pounds.
nectarine / 2047 posts
@JennyG: Omg 52!! I would feel awful!!! Glad you passed though! I'm getting my appetite back after a pretty rough 1st trimester, so I'm sure the weight is coming.
persimmon / 1259 posts
@peaches1038: Had my 18-week appointment today, heart rate was 152! Yay! I have only gained one pound, and I didn't have any MS. But because I'm overweight, I'm only supposed to gain 15 anyway. So I already feel like I have to slow down, lol.
persimmon / 1461 posts
@peaches1038: yep the last time it was gone by the time I went for my 6 week check up. Did you lose any weight in the first trimester? Or have you stayed the same throughout? I feel like i've packed on weight, its probably about 5+ kilos at this stage.
nectarine / 2047 posts
@Miss Sarah: Do you know what you're having yet? I can't remember if you already found out. I can't help but think of the old wives tale for heart rate!
@FannyMae: I didn't lose any weight even though I was sick and basically eating pretzels only haha.

Well, I've had an "exciting" week already. I'm officially on "activity restriction" -- although I'm allowed to go to work for my pretty stress-free desk job for the time being. OBGYN suspected short cervix at my appointment today, and we got sent down to MFM for a full scan. MFM scan said cervix length looks fine and closed, but I have fluid or a polyp within the cervical canal. They are going to do weekly scans for the next few weeks to monitor. Basically, until further notice no sex, no exercise, no lifting, limit stairs and kick up my feet when possible. Light errands and housework are okay. The good news is that everything looks great with LO, and MFM seemed pretty confident that we'd have a good outcome.
pomelo / 5084 posts
@Hoots: Oh wow - sorry to hear that. What a pain. But good that everything looks fine with your LO! I am having cervical checks also - a LEEP procedure 11 years ago (!) made the doctor think my cervix may be too short/open early. So far so good but they are going to monitor throughout. Good luck!!
pomelo / 5084 posts
@Miss Sarah: You only gained one pound?! GO YOU! Haha! I gained 5 and thought that was good!! My LO's heart rate today was 155 at my anatomy scan. Yay for the 150s!

My update: I had my anatomy scan today and everything looked just fine! Except - the doctor said the baby is measuring big (I started a separate thread about it). 86%. Which is weird because I was a very small, full term baby. The doctor suggested just watching it and lowering my carbs in the meantime.
persimmon / 1259 posts
@peaches1038: I don't know yet, our u/s is scheduled for July 6th!
@wrkbrk: Interesting to already suggest baby is big...good luck cutting carbs, it's like the only thing I crave! Lol.
kiwi / 673 posts
@wrkbrk: I'm just so relieved that we got a really thorough check and consult today. I feel so much better just knowing that they're going to monitor things closely and be as proactive as they can about it.
nectarine / 2047 posts
@Hoots: Wow! i'm sorry to hear about your restrictions! I'm glad everything is ok with the baby though!
@Miss Sarah: Yay! Mine is scheduled for 7/10! I'm so excited! we decided that we are going to find out. My husband is so pumped. haha
@wrkbrk: I'm glad your anatomy scan turned out well, other than the size issue. Your little guy is just hungry! I hope your GD test comes out alright when the time comes. Are you doing it at 28 weeks?
nectarine / 2047 posts
Oh! I forgot to mention that I'm pretty sure I have been feeling movement! I noticed a light tapping or bubble popping sensation on Saturday while my husband was rubbing my feet (score!), but I couldn't be sure. Then i felt the same sensation today after drinking some cold water! So fun!!
kiwi / 673 posts
@peaches1038: My anatomy scan is scheduled for the same day as yours! It seemed so far away when I scheduled it a month ago!
@wrkbrk: Cutting carbs does suck. I'm normally a carb monster, but had to cut back because of Metformin. Honestly, the only thing that helped me was making myself toss the carb-loaded food out of the pantry and then meal planning. Could you try for more low-glycemic than just straight cutting carbs?
kiwi / 557 posts
@Hoots: Sorry to hear about your activity restrictions, sounds like they are taking it seriously though (and on the bonus you get to see the baby often with all those scans).
@wrkbrk: Congrats on the mostly good news at your scan! Dietary restrictions are never fun, nice to get the heads up early though so hopefully no GD for you.
@peaches1038: Yay for movement! I think more foot rubs are in order!

I originally had my anatomy scan scheduled for 7/1 but bumped it up to 6/24 (tomorrow morning) after my elective scan since she mentioned my fluid looked low (but of course its not a medical ultrasound so there was no measuring). I had been busy packing all day for a trip that weekend so had not drank much, I'm thinking I was just a little dehydrated but low fluid in the second trimester can be a really bad thing so best to know for sure. In the meantime I've become a water drinking machine and taking daily soaks (two things I've found studies on that increase amniotic fluid) so fingers crossed everything looks good tomorrow.
pomelo / 5084 posts
@Hoots: Yes - low glycemic would be a big improvement over how I eat now. Doesnt help that I have been a vegetarian for ten years. I added back in some meat just to help with protein during pregnancy but I still heavily rely on carbs. Oh well - it's not forever right??
persimmon / 1461 posts
@Hoots: oh my goodness, I hope that your doctors give you a good diagnosis and that cervix is all good.
@wrkbrk: do you get another scan/check up in the mean time to see if the doctor's measurements continue at the rate he said? I always thought my daughter would be big because hubby and I are tall, but she was born the same size as I was - 6 pounds 7.
@clover: fingers super crossed for babe's amniotic fluid to be the right level!
succchh ligament pain the last few days, I feel like my sides are going to snap!

@FannyMae: I feel you on the round ligament pain. I'm also getting pain in my low back whenever I go from sitting to standing or rolling in bed. OUCH.

Will you ladies take a quick peek at my registries? FTM here and just wanting to make sure I haven't missed anything too important and that I don't have too much of something that I probably won't need. Thanks!!!

@peaches1038: They look pretty good. A few things I would take off, like the car seat accessories. They are not really safe, being "after market". The only accessories that are safe are the ones that comes with the seat or are made/approved by your car seat manufacture and most do not allow anything under/between the car seat and the seat of the car.
Some things we found that were not useful were the wearable swaddle blankets like the swaddles me ones. The sleep sacs and muslin swaddles worked so much better for both of my kids, but they may work for you! We also never used bibs, high chairs or our swing. I wish I would have known now and just not gotten them (but again those are things that may be invaluable to you. It is so hard to know!). I never had a RnP so I cannot comment to that. Will you be needing/wanting a PnP. I didn't see that on the list. Also BRU has these awesome pads you can put under the crib sheet and on top of the mattress that are waterproof so you don't have to wash down the mattress. Love them.
I never registered for clothing as I always heard people just pick their own. I don't think you have to change that, but just be prepared for people to buy whatever when it comes to the little stuff like clothing and stuffed animals.
We just got that mattress for DD in the Breeze version! Same mattress just has a breathable cover that is supposed to keep them cooler. She hasn't used it yet, but I am impressed with it in the package lol.

@peaches1038: These are the pads I was talking about. Love them! We also used them in the PnP under the sheet and I bought some that I cut in half and serged for the changing table to use on top of the changing pad cover. http://m.toysrus.com/skava/static/product.html?type=TRU_product_us&url=%2Fproduct%2Findex.jsp%3FproductId%3D12764109%26skParametric%3Dtrue%26eESource%3DCA_DF%3A12764109%3ATRUS&domain=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.toysrus.com&productId=12764109&skParametric=true&eESource=CA_DF:12764109:TRUS
