I want a 3 month check up! We don't go to doc until Feb 20th again, for four month check up....and needles....
Hi everyone, sorry I have been MIA for me, what a whirlwind week! I am still "on" facebook, but have pretty much everything deleted and just haven't de-activated yet. I do like browsing, and heck....I like posting, but hate how I can't control what others do and that's my huge issue right now.
The funeral was as good as a funeral can be, C was good, but I had to stand at the back and keep her bouncing most of the time, but she hardly made a noise, and brought smiles to people at the reception afterward.
We may put an offer on a house in the next few days......attached the floorplan because I'm that excited, though it's a little stressful too. It's a lot of money (will be close to half a mil, it's gross that's "all" you can get for that here) it is a 1600 sq ft bungalow that will go on a lot 50ft wide by 110ft deep, that backs on to greenspace (a major must for me) and a park in a subdivision of homes 5 minutes from where I work. We went to look at a resale home that backed on to a park/soccer field like 2 minutes west of this for the same price and the updating/paint selection/floorplan left us feeling really discouraged, so we flipped back to looking new.
So that's got us a little consumed, it would be ready in September, the lot is just dirt right now, no foundation in or anything.
C is doing good, still waking far too much in the night, she is only eating once in the night though, and just four times throughout the day, rejects me twice through the day as I have been trying to get back to five times, but she won't have any of it. She is sort of trying to roll now, it's funny, but so much as she tries, she really doesn't enjoy it, lol.
Yesterday I had my grossest Mom moment to date, C puked pretty much an entire feeding down my v-neck hoodie, it pooled in the cups of my bra, continued down my stomach, and soaked across the top of my underwear.....gross gross gross....all part of being a Mom I guess

@Beebug: house looks lovely, and how nice that it would be al new fr you! I hear you on home prices, here in NYC it's pretty ridic! L has also been rejecting a feeding or two lately, makes me nervous because when he does eat its not for a terribly long time so I worry he's not getting enough.
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@hilsy85: How did your house offer end up?! Good to know I am not alone with the rejecting feeding stuff, everyone around me keeps telling me if she's hungry she'll eat, and we're still getting regular wet and poopy dipes, so everything must be ok....! It's sort of nice to be honest, once I maybe accept and plan more for her not having 5x a day, it's usually about 8-9am-ish, Noon-ish, 4pm, then 7pm, good stretches if we are out and about if it continues and I give up trying to get her another meal in!
Going to try for another run tomorrow, I did some solid shred sessions this week, did level 1 today to take a break from level 2.

@hilsy85: apparently four months is a pretty common age for babies to start fluffing around / striking while feeding, I know Miss A is definitely starting to play at the breast. These days I give her three go's to get latched on and start sucking otherwise we go and do something else! Her favourite party trick is to arch her back, crane her neck and grin - it's really cute but kinda annoying!
pomegranate / 3917 posts
@Kemma: lol about arched back, craned neck and grinning! C is going to have strong oblique muscles as when she strikes she does a side crunch "up" to me, turns her head and gives a big gummy smile with the widest eyes, I either have to avoid looking at her, or just laugh. Then there's the times she freaks screaming and crying....those aren't nearly as fun

@Beebug: Ehh it looks like i'ts not going to happen...the seller is being unreasonable and is holding out for more than the house has been appraised for. Oh well, we're in no rush and I'm sure the right thing will come about for us eventually. @Kemma: ack, just as we were getting into a groove! I feel like I've read that all this distracted nursing can cause supply to go down...I'll have to read more about it so that doesn't happen to us!
clementine / 961 posts
@Kemma: A also likes to play while feeding.
We have hit the 4 month sleep regression. A was up every 1.5 hours last night and woke up for the day at 4:30am. I hope it passes quickly because I am SO tired.
squash / 13764 posts
@Mrs.B: ack oh no! Are you nursing every time she wakes or just soothing back to sleep? So not excited about that...
honeydew / 7235 posts
@Mrs.B: oh no! i'm so worried about this, especially since I'm heading back to work in a week. J has started to wake earlier & best semi-awake in the middle of the night and this is new, he was sleeping 10 hr stretches for a few weeks, and something is changing. Not good!
@hilsy85: how's L doing with sleep/paci etc?
@MRSKC: J is also loving his hands, and is not as happy on his back as much... He gets bored fast! I think i saw you said A loves his changing table - so does J, there's a lot to look at so sometimes I strap him on and he happily hangs there for half an hour while I clean/fold laundry or whatever!
Update for me. This is my last week of maternity leave
It's going to be hard to go back, but I guess I'm ready. I feel like I'm actually in denial, I'm not even thinking about work even though it's a week away. UGH. It will be fine. It will be fine.
We bought a jumper/exersaucer thing that i think he will love. He's maybe a week or two away from going in it, but he's loving sitting up all of the time and he is constantly kicking his legs so i think he'll love it.
I still don't have him sleeping in his crib - but I've got him doing naps in the crib now and it's going pretty well. I just put him in there after he's awake playing for an hour and he'll cry a little then just sleep.
I may start trying the crib tonight, but I just like having him in the room with us still.
He's getting too big for the rock n play though, its time....
squash / 13764 posts
@hellobeeboston: He's sleeping much better with his paci--he's still waking up twice a night, usually, once around 3/4 and once around 6, so I nurse him at the first wake up and give him his paci back at the 2nd so I get an extra hour of sleep! i am so not excited about the 4 month sleep regression. L also looooves kicking his legs, he does it constantly, so I might look into getting him an exersaucer or something too (but why are they all so big and ugly?!). boo to last week of maternity leave...are you going back full time right away or do you have some days or part time? What are you doing with J (daycare, nanny, etc?)?
clementine / 961 posts
@hilsy85: She is in the habit of nursing to sleep. So I nurse her everytime. I have learned how to nurse while I'm half asleep so it's not horrible but not ideal.
@hellobeeboston: A is also still part time in her rock n play and part time bed sharing. She is short but chunky so she is not to long for it but looks smushed in. She still will not sleep flat unless co sleeping. This is something we need to work on.
honeydew / 7235 posts
@Mrs.B: James is pretty long - and he has this new habit of kicking his legs out straight and arching his back (does this in the car seat when we try to put him in too) - and in the RnP he almost falls out - it's not good!

@Mrs.B: I feel you on the sleep thing! Just about every hour and half last night DS was awake....I am one tired mommy today. He generaly sleeps about 8-10 hours at night. I really want that back but the last couple days have been pretty busy. I think tonight I will give him a bath early and see if we can get him down better.
@hilsy85: DS generally (up until this week) has slept so much better with his Paci. I plan to let him keep it until he loses the bottle and moves to a sippy cup. This is what my mom did when I was small that worked very well. If he stops before then I won't complain. DS does love chewing on his hands though.
@hellobeeboston: Good Luck with the crib sleeping. DS did just fine going from his bassinet to crib. I think I was more worried about it. However most mornings he does still end up with me in bed because he wakes up and wants to snuggle before he eats. I think it helps me sleep because DS's crib is in our room presently. We are getting new floors put in, so we are waiting to move him until they are done.
Ds has taken to smiling and laughing when he eats sometimes. As much as I love his smiles and laughs, it is taking so much longer for him to eat. We had a great routine down, but I don't mind too much.
We went to the Frankenmuth Snow and Ice Festival over the weekend and DS did great! It was a little funny to see him all bundled up in his snowsuit. I did learn it was harder to wear him with his snowsuit on but he wouldn't sit in his stroller at all.
Ds goes to the Children's Hopsital tomorrow to meet with the Oral surg. folks about his upper lip tie. I am hoping that we can get it taken care of tomorrow.
honeydew / 7235 posts
@hilsy85: we had a double wake up last night too. it wasn't a good night... but i nursed him both times.
As for work - i'm going back full time. I'm hoping to work from home 2 fridays a month, and my husband will do 2 fridays at home also, so then J will just be away 4 days a week. We have a unique situation for 'daycare' ---- our neighbor has 3 kids (7,9,12) that she homeschools and she will be taking him from 9-6 every day! so it's sortof like a daycare/nanny combined. our houses are across the street from each other so it's pretty ideal. I hope she can handle it! she's really excited.

@MrsRcCar: good luck with your appt tomorrow, I hope it goes better than ours went with the ENT a few weeks ago! I really hope they're able to help N

@Kemma: My son has started to get a little distracted at the breast. He will pop off and just look around.
@Mrs.B: Oh no! I'm scared for this. Hope it passes soon!
@hellobeeboston: This is my last week of maternity leave too. I'm trying not to think about it too. I've been avoided work email, because I don't even want to think about work at all this week. At least I'll only be doing half days for a few months. My son still isn't in his crib at night either. He sleeps in his bouncy chair, which I know isn't going to last forever. We do have a pack n play I'm hoping to move him to before he goes to his crib at night. Neither my DH or I want him out of our room yet. We like having him close to us.
@MrsRcCar: Good luck with the oral surgeon!
I started feeling sick last night. I've been paranoid that I'm getting Mastitis. My left boob was hurting a little yesterday and I thought maybe I had a plugged duct, but I don't feel anything round and hard. I had a slight fever this morning. Thank goodness the nanny came today, so I could just sleep. I'm already feeling better.

We have gotten a quick taste of the 4 month regression with E this last week. She has started to wake up at 4-5:30 to eat, she has been sleeping through the nights for a couple months now. She seems to think she is starving and will go back to sleep right after she is done with her bottle. I miss the full nights of sleep!
Also, exactly one year ago today I found out that Little E would be entering this world! Crazy how much life has changed in that year, we are so blessed with a silly, happy, beautiful little girl!

Eeeek I just booked the venue for A's first birthday. I know I am SO far in advance but I like to be on top of things. It's hard to sneak time in to plan things with all the kiddos running around and I have to throw DH a 40th birthday party and DS a 5th birthday party this year. I am going to be a party planning fool!
The venue holds 70 people which should be big enough. We are doing a Rasberry Pink and Carribean colored chevron theme. We will most likely add some poka dots into the theme as well. Here is my pinterest board I started for her Bday.

@mrskc: It's at a community center so it's pretty plain. I'm going to put up back drops to add pops of color. Like this.

@jessiejo17: @Mrs.B: Yikes the 4 month regression stuff is scaring me!!! Elliot doesn't sleep straight through the night but I've gotten used to his 2 wakeups and I'm scared of going back to newborn type sleep. Eeeeek.
@Beebug: Your new house looks gorgeous! How exciting!!
@MrsRcCar: Elliot gets really distracted like that when he eats too. I LOVE the smiles but feedings feel like they take forever. I try to just count my blessings that I have a happy and VERY curious baby haha.
@mrskc: I'm glad that you're feeling better after a little rest!
Elliot is sick for the first time He has a super congested/runny nose, watery eyes and a sad little cough. It started Friday night and since then he's been eating a few ounces less per day. DH thinks it's because it's hard for him to breathe through his nose while he's sucking on the bottle
I've been suctioning like crazy, running a humidifier in his room and putting him to sleep at an incline to help with drainage. Luckily he doesn't have a fever. I called the ped this morning to see what else I could do to make him more comfortable and to find out if he needs to be seen and I'm waiting on a call back. He seems to still be in good spirits but it just kills me to hear his stuffy nose breathing and his cough!

@jessiejo17: @Mrs.B: I am also so worried about the 4 month sleep regression! Hopefully it's not something that will last very long.
@hellobeeboston: J just started sleeping in his crib last night! He was getting too big for his bassinet, so we put him in his own room in his crib (and finally set up his video monitor). He slept through the night like he normally does, but I didn't sleep well at all! I spent most of the night staring at the monitor! I really miss having J in the bassinet next to my side of the bed, but it's better for him to have more room and sleep in his nice crib.
At J's 3 month checkup he didn't gain as much weight as he should have, so the doctor asked how often he was eating, and when I said he was eating every couple hours or so, she said he was snacking and not getting enough food at each nursing! She told me to start feeding him every 3 hours, to give myself time to get more milk in, and so he has a good sized feeding whenever he eats. So I have finally put him on a schedule, and it is going so well! He wakes up at 7am and eats every 3 hours (sometimes 3.5), and I put him down for his naps an hour before his next feeding time, or earlier if he looks tired. He goes to bed at 8:30, but I'm hoping to move that up to 8. He's finally started taking naps longer than 30 or 45 minutes! Today he took two naps that were over 2 hours each (I actually had to wake him at 2 hours!). I think he's loving the predictability of a schedule.

@Running Elley: I hope Elliot feels better soon! I'm so worried about all the germs going around this winter, I feel like people who have spring and summer babies are lucky about not hitting the cold and flu season with the youngest babies! It's great that he doesn't have a fever, hopefully his cold will just go away on its own.
honeydew / 7235 posts
@Running Elley: oh no!! So sorry to hear he is sick poor little guy! My LO was sick a few weeks ago and it's so hard as mom to see them sick!
We got the saline drops and did the suctioning with bulb and nose frida... We also ran the humidifier and I got some all natural vapor rub (Matys brand) and put it on LOs feet with socks to help with the cough - then I just tried to nurse often to make sure he got lots of fluids..... Hope he is better fast!!!
squash / 13764 posts
@Mrs.B: wow that looks like it's going to be awesome! love the colors.
@Beehive: yay for better napping and some predictablity! Just out of curiosity, had he dropped in percentiles, or was his actual weight just not where the dr thought it should be? And I'm the same way with watching the monitor all night, even now with LO in his own room for two months!
@Running Elley: poor E not looking forward to our first cold, which I'm sure is coming.

@Running Elley: so sorry E is sick! hopefully he will be better soon:) send him a (germ free) kissy on the forehead from me!
@Mrs.B: very cute!
Is anyone else not planning on having a "party"? I am planning an adult dinner;) I figure it is really only DH & I who are celebrating...LO will not remember it and we don't have any other grand kids on either side. So, no kids:) just grandparents, aunts & uncles. There will be a cake for singing purposes as well as for photos. Other than that: some fancy shcmancy dinner and gift opening. That's the plan! Maybe for 2nd bday we will do a bounce house type thing with a clown but at 1? It'll just be pointless.
squash / 13764 posts
@TurtleDoves: we're probably not doing a party, or even a fancy dinner...we will probably have grandparents and aunts and uncles over for cake and some finger foods. We don't really have a huge apartment, and it's so expensive to rent spaces in NYC.
nectarine / 2054 posts
@Hilsy85: I think a little of both - he dropped from 44th percentile to 31st in weight, and he had only gained 1 lb 5 oz since his 2 month checkup - I think she said usually babies gain at least 2 pounds or something like that.
squash / 13764 posts
@Beehive: ah gotcha! I';m just always concerned that L isn't gaining enough weight since he never seems particularly hungry and never nurses for a long time. Hopefully J's schedule helps him get back on track

@mrskc: I hope it isn't Mastitis. I have been feeling yucky the last week or so.
@Mrs.B: Very cute! We haven't even thought too much about his first birthday. I would really like to spend it in Disney with my parents and DH's dad. However we will probably just spend it at home with just a couple family and friends.
@Beehive: I try to keep DS on a schedule. It is so much easier and he is gaining weight in a good fashion. I hope that your LO benefits a lot from your schedule.
@Running Elley: I hope E feels better soon! N was all stuffed up for a little while it has since pasted and he is doing a lot better. All you can do is keep a vaporizer going and suction like crazy.
@hilsy85: I just wanted to say I loved the new pictures of L on FB. He is a cutie!
I was talking to DH about tomorrow for DS's appointment. DH was like well when you get home from the appointment DS can snuggle with me because he isn't going to want mean mommy....Needless to say I was not pleased. I am already nervous about the appointment and him saying that made it worse. I know he was joking but it still upset me. I am normally a anxious person and I hate to hear LO in pain. My folks keeping telling me that LO will be fine and not to stress out about it. I just looked at DH and was like I could beat you with a baseball bat..... >(

@mrskc: How are you feeling?
@hellobeeboston: I was also in denial about going back to work. Even that morning! It didn't hit me until I finished nursing DD and I had to leave. I cried all the way to the train. @Running Elley: so sorry little E is sick. I'm dreading that first sickness. A 2 year old coughed right on C today. I had to try really hard not to make a disgusted face right in front of his mom.

@MrsRcCar: I hope not. I'm thinking it might be. My left breast is a little tender but doesn't hurt too bad. I'm running a fever too. Who knows tho, if I'm not feeling better tomorrow, I'll call the doc. Good luck with the appt tomorrow.
@Tidybee: feeling ok. My fever went away this afternoon but then came back this evening at 100.5. I've been just trying to rest. I'm wondering if I have mastitis, but not really sure. My left breast feels a little different. Kind of like its not completely empty. I've been pumping that side after I nurse. Hopefully tomorrow I'm feeling better.
@Mrs.B: that will be really pretty! Love it.

@TurtleDoves: I did not do a "big" party for DS but since A is going to be my last LO I really want to this time. I do agree it's more for our family and friends then DD because she will not remember it. DS will be getting a big fun 5th birthday this year. This is the first year he will be inviting his friends to his party.
Finally got around to ordering my push/christmas gift. I'm excited for it to get here.

It is so funny how quickly these babies grow! LO started rolling over three days ago. When I wrote my last post I felt like it was coming but I didn't know it would be the next day! He hates tummy time so much and he now seems so content that he doesn't have to stay in that position if he doesn't want to, lol!
@mrskc: Thanks! I haven't put mine down drowsy yet either! His last bottle really knocks him out so I haven't had the chance to try!
@Beebug: Good luck with the house!!!
@hellobeeboston: Enjoy your last week off! My LO is still in our room as well. It is so hard to let go! Every day, I keep saying that tonight is the night and it never happens, lol.
@MrsRcCar: Hope the appt went well!
@Mrs.B: This is gorgeous! Now that the nursery is finally exactly how I want it, it is time to obsess over beautiful parties! (Even though I don't even know if I will have one, lol.)
@Running Elley: Poor little guy! Hope he recovers quickly!
@Tidybee: How long did it take you to feel better about working again? I still have a few weeks off but am a little anxious about it!

@mrskc: @Mrs.B: @JoeysMama: @hilsy85: His appointment went very well today. We met with the dentist at Children's Hospital about his lip. The dentist said that N will likely out grow the lip issue but will continue to keep an eye on it. Although he did say that if it does become an issue he wouldn't fix it until N was 9 or 10 years old. I am just feeling better, knowing that the professional doesn't think it is anything to worry about right now. N has such a great time at the office visit. He was flirting like crazy with all the ladies.
I have decided that I am going to take up knitting. Hopefully it won't be too hard. Any tips from other ladies on good ways to get started?
